  • Query performance difference pl/sql forall insert and plain SQL insert

    - by user289429
We have been using temporary table to store intermediate results in pl/sql Stored procedure. Could anyone tell if there is a performance difference between doing bulk collect insert through pl/sql and a plain SQL insert. Insert into or Cursor for open cursor fetch cursor bulk collect into collection Use FORALL to perform insert Which of the above 2 options is better to insert huge amount of temporary data?

  • SSL certificate performance issue

    - by sparagi
There are some cheaper SSL certificates out there. Would a certificate from Verisign perform better/faster than a certificate from a discount provider? My gut is telling me that it does not make a difference b/c ultimately the certificate is installed on the server.

  • MySQL search Chinese characters

    - by Jasie
Hello, Let's say I have a row: ??????? Someone enters as a query: ?? Should I break up the characters in the query, and individually perform a LIKE % % match on each character against the row, or is there any easier way to get a row that contains one of the two characters? FULLTEXT won't work with CJK characters. Thanks!

  • jQuery; combine user click and :checked

    - by user275074
I have two blocks of code which basically check for 1) a click event on a radio button e.g. $("input[id='frmSkill']").click(function(){ //do something }); And 2) a block of code to check if a radio button is :checked, if so, then perform some actions e.g. if($("input[id='frmSkill']:checked").val()){ //do something }); What I'd like to do is combine the two in order to reduce the code as the actions performed under each are the same.

  • How can I programmatically tell if a caught IOException is because the file is being used by another

    - by Paul K
When I open a file, I want to know if it is being used by another process so I can perform special handling; any other IOException I will bubble up. An IOException's Message property contains "The process cannot access the file 'foo' because it is being used by another process.", but this is unsuitable for programmatic detection. What is the safest, most robust way to detect a file being used by another process?

  • how to detect sql server timeout from .NET application without using catch Exception

    - by haditeo
Hi, In my current application, i am performing an update by invoking T-SQL Update command. The problem is when the same record is locked by other users at that time. At .NET application, the application will wait until SQL Server timeout, then it will throw the SqlException timeout. Is it possible to perform a check first whether a particular record is locked by other process rather than catching the exception ? Thanks, hadi teo Update : The SQL Server version used are 2000 and 2008

  • cmake source and out-of-source navigation

    - by idimba
Hi, cmake advises to use out-of-source builds. While in general I like the idea I find it not comfortable to navigate from out-of-source sub directory to the corresponding source directory. I frequently need the code to perform some actions with code (e.g. grep, svn command etc.). Is there an easy way in shell to navigate from out-of-source sub directory to the corresponding source directory? Thanks Dima

  • How can I obtain a list of modified files within a 'changeset' range from team foundation server thr

    - by Colin W
I'm trying to create a tool which will help my team perform code reviews on a more regular basis without it's usual massive overhead. At the moment the manual process involves using Team Foundation Sidekicks to identify the Changesets and then exporting that to excel to filter the results to find which items need to be reviewed (e.g. code files). I've heard mention of using a TFS API, but found very little help online possibly because I was asking google 'the wrong questions'.

  • Cast LINQ Function Result to Domain Object

    - by Alex
Hello, I have a table valued function to perform full text search on SQL server. The result type of my full text search function in LINQ is a special autogenerated type which includes KEY and RANK in addition to my regular domain object properties. So, if my regular domain object is PERSONS (with properties FirstName, LastName etc.), I also have a result object PERSONS_FTSResult with the same properties + KEY and RANK. Is there an easy way to cast it back to PERSONS?

    - by Gatis
My Web App will be deployed as a WAR package in a Jetty instance. It needs to perform a lot of caching before serving requests. How do I call the caching method before anything else? is the a static void main() in the web app standard?

  • Is there any sence in performing binary AND with a number where all bits are set to 1

    - by n535
Greetings everybody. I have seen examples of such operations for so many times that i began to think that i am getting something wrong with binary arithmetics. Is there any sense to perform the following: byte value = someAnotherByteValue & 0xFF; I don't really understand this, because it does not change anything anyway. Thanks for help. P.S. I was trying to search for information both elsewhere and here, but unsuccessfully.

  • Threading cost - minimum execution time when threads would add speed

    - by Lukas
I am working on a C# application that works with an array. It walks through it (meaning that at one time only a narrow part of the array is used). I am considering adding threads in it to make it perform faster (it runs on a dualcore computer). The problem is that I do not know if it would actually help, because threads cost something and this cost could easily be more than the parallel gain... So how do I determine if threading would help?
