  Is ServerManager module available on Windows 7 Ultimate ? I think (but I'm not sure because I never looked at output before) the PS script that I have worked before but after some problems with IIS7 installation it stopped working. Following script import-module servermanager fails with error Import-Module : The specified module 'servermanager' was not loaded because no valid module file was found in any module directory. At line:1 char:14 + import-module <<<< servermanager + CategoryInfo : ResourceUnavailable: (servermanager:String) [Import-Module], FileNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Modules_ModuleNotFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.ImportModuleCommand I found recommendation to run Dism.exe /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:ServerManager-PSH-Cmdlets on my machine but it also fails with error Feature name ServerManager-PSH-Cmdlets is unknown.

• Are there any home/soho NAS devices that will backup/sync to the cloud?

  Looking for a home office (SOHO) market (priced) network hard drive (NAS) that will sync some or all of its content to a cloud-based backup service. The only option I've been able to find so far is NetGear's [ReadyNAS Vault][1] however from what I've read it's not as secure as it could be, and the service is quite expensive ($200/yr for 50GB of cloud storage) - it's 'powered' by ElephantDrive Ideally would love to see something like Wuala integrated into a Lacie Network HDD - conveniently, I suspect this is in the works as Lacie recently acquired Wuala, however nothing has come of it yet. I know there are options to use rsync with a customizable NAS (such as the very versatile and hackable D-Link DNS-323, but the easier this is to setup and maintain, the better. Thanks! ps. • Synergy to share mouse only (not keyboard)

  Synergy is very handy for single mouse/keyboard set sharing between multiple PCs. But I have a laptop (WinXP SP3) and a desktop (OS X Snow Leopard), a mouse, a keyboard which plugs to desktop. I don't need to share keyboard since each has one. Is there any way to share mouse only? Since if keyboard sharing enable might cause inconvenience. Thanks. PS. Another quick question is how to stop synergy daemon on Mac OS? synergys --help doesn't give any information.

Q3.This is the first time I set aws ec2 server myself, my previous experience is hosting with hosting company. Normally in hosting company, my web directory is called "www" or "public_html" or "htdocs".Why is my folder name is "/var/www/html"? Am I installed wrong apache?

  I just assembled my new PC and it screams, BUT it's only recognizing 8GB of ram in BIOS and OS rather than the installed 12GB. In the BIOS the RAM was registering at 1066 so I set it to 1600MHz. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is needed to prepare the machine for Exchange 2007 installation. • Nginx static files exclude one or some file extensions

  I'm serving up a static site via nginx. location ~* \.(avi|bin|bmp|dmg|doc|docx|dpkg|exe|flv|gif|htm|html|ico|ics|img|jpeg|jpg|m2a|m2v|mov|mp3|mp4|mpeg|mpg|msi|pdf|pkg|png|ppt|pptx|ps|rar|rss|rtf|swf|tif|tiff|txt|wmv|xhtml|xls|xml|zip)$ { root /var/www/html1; access_log off; expires 1d; } And my goal is to exclude requests like http://connect1.webinar.ru/converter/task/. Full view is like http://mydomain.tld/converter/task/setComplete/fid/34330/fn/7c2cfed32ec2eef6788e728fa46f7a80.ppt.swf. Despite the fact these URLs ends in such a format they are not static, but fake script requests, so I have a problems with them. What is the best way to do this? How can I add an exclusion for this URL or maybe I can to exclude the specific file exptension (.ppt.swf, pptx.swf) from the list of this Nginx location? Thanks.

• RHEL5 + Awesome WM - How do i fix mod4 inversion (acts like mod4 is always pressed)

  I built and installed Awesome WM on RHEL5. I have problem with mod4 acting like its always pressed. ie every time i hit "Enter" it acts like Mod4+Enter was hit. I have to hold down mod4 key (I remapped it to Caps_Lock) to actually send through just a Enter. How do i fix this? PS: If i change the WM this problem doesnt exist. yes. I do. It is mostly tab configs though. I didnt change key combos. Also, the version of awesomeWM i compiled is 3.1.1 (had trouble getting deps for the latest AwesomeWM on Rhel5)

• Voices disappear when using headphones.

  How do I declare a variable in C? P.S. I have a pair of SteelSeries Siberia headphones. I've noticed that when watching some films the voices are completely silent, yet when I unplug the headset and listen through my speakers they are there and sound normal. I have no other software that could be interfering with it and it happens regardless of the software I use for playback (I've tried VLC, WMP and Quicktime). It is so strange, and it almost sounds deliberate - the rest of the audio is untouched but voices disappear. The films only have single audio tracks, and it doesn't happen with every film. Can anyone give me any hints as to what could possibly cause this? I am stumped!

• Mount shared folder (vbox) as another user

  I'm trying to mount my vbox shared folder every time my ubuntu starts. So, I added an entry on /etc/init with this: description "mount vboxsf Desktop" start on startup task exec mount -t vboxsf Desktop /var/www/shared Seems to work, except by the fact that all the files are owned by "root", and I don't have permission to write on the folder (neither chmod nor chown seems to be working). So, how can I make all the files under this shared folder to be owned by www-data user/group? Thanks ps.: The main reason for me to have an automatic shared folder, is so I can create/edit files from the HOST on the GUEST www folder. If you have a better idea for that, instead of sharing the folder, fell free to say.

• Microsoft Excel 2007 constantly calculating sheets

  I believe this happening for two weeks now: Excel 2007 (on Windows XP) is acting funny on my computer; any medium sized sheet with some formulas in it takes a significant amount of time recalculating. I can see this because the "calculating: 2 processors xx%" message was almost unseen before and now it appears on most operations like calculating a formula (on one cell), saving, previewing, etc. If the sheet is complex (lots of formulas) I have to disable automatic calculations because excel renders as unusable - it hangs for a really long time, measureable in minutes. Any idea on what may be causing this? ps: this is a Core2 Duo computer with 2 Gb of RAM

• Installing FFMPEG-PHP on Qnap Nas (TS-410), PHPIZE error

  I have been trying to install ffmpeg-php on my qnap nas (ts-410) without success. ? Basically I have installed the QPKG Optware, and using the plugin installed php-dev, autoconf, m4, php-gd, and perl. After that I downloaded ffmpeg-0.6.0.tbz2 (from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg-php/files/ffmpeg-php/0.6.0/ffmpeg-php-0.6.0.tbz2/download) to the Public folder, and extracted the file (tar -xjf ffmpeg-0.6.0.tbz2) Then go to the folder: cd ffmpeg-0.6.0 Finally I run: phpize which is where the process fails I get the following error: configure.in:3: warning: prefer named diversions Can anyone advice how to successfully install ffmpeg-php on my nas? Ps. I am new to linux so easy step guide would be appreciated, or even better if a QPKG / IPKG becomes available ? !!!! Thanks Dean

  I have an existing infrastructure where accounts are maintained under NIS (yp) with no local unix accounts. Also, all the standard maps including hosts, mail aliases, netgroups, etc...are maintained in this form. Extensive use of the UNIX/Linux automounter with items scattered over the network on NFS servers. There are NO ACLs on any local or shared files. All mail needs to use basically the nullclient sendmail configuration feeding into a different system. I now have a requirement to integrate an Apple OSX 10.6 system into this environment and make it run seamlessly. My initial reading and second-hand information seems to indicate that this may not be possible on the native OSX 10.6 system. I'm concerned. Any ideas as to how to accomplish this task and make everybody happy? Thanks PS: I have never used an Apple OSX system.

• How to change default permission for uploaded files in apache with mounted webroot?

  I have an ubuntu server 11.10 with apache 2.2.20, php 5.3.6 and an installation of Joomla cms. I have used an extra hard disk as my web server storage and mounted it into /data/www/ (I hope it's not where my problem us!). I've set permission of all files and folders in my web root to 755 and user groups for them is set to [default ubuntu user(in my case radio)]:www-data. In past days I had serious problems with joomla not showing new uploaded images and other files and also I can't install any extensions. After hours of searching I found out that uploaded files don't have appropriate permission (they are -rw-------) and Joomla application cannot read, copy or move them after upload. I’m wondering how can I set a default permission so all files that I upload use it? PS: I’ve tested umask but it did nothing. I think it has nothing to do with my problem.

• Hostname Problem On WHM / cPanel Installation

  My CentOS 5.6 server's hostname was "centos" . And then i change it to my domain : hostname domain.com And i started to installing WHM / cPanel as explained in here : http://etwiki.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/InstallationGuide/InstallingCpanel It's installed very well. And the i reboot my server. After rebooting, i was execute this command for open WHM's 2087 port : iptables -I RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 2087 -j ACCEPT Now i'm trying to browse domain.com:2087 i'm getting Server (centos) not found .I noticed it's forwarding to my old hostname (centos) . And then execute this command to verify me hostname hostname it's returned "centos" again. I'm not sure, why it's returned to old hostname. (I think it returned to old hostname after rebooting) . I'm changed it one more time : hostname domain.com Finally, now my hostname is domain.com . BUt still i'm getting centos server not found error. This is result of iptables -L command. P.S. : domain.com/cpanel is working

• Cannot access Windows 7 share from Windows XP

  I have a new Windows 7 machine named PAP44 in the PAP workgroup. The networking is set to "Work" mode for the wired LAN. I have a couple of users and I've shared a folder and set it so both users can read/write. Confusingly for me, rather than sharing just that folder (as I'm used to with older versions of Windows) it appears to be sharing a path (\\pap44\users\...\myFolder) From another machine on the LAN, running XP, when I go to \\PAP44\Users I'm asked for a username and password, but neither of the usernames+passwords work. It just jumps back to the username and password dialogue, except that the username I entered gets prefixed with PAP44\ My end goal is to get my Debian/Ubuntu machines to be able to access this share, but first of all I thought I'd try to get it working in Windows, after all, that's supposed to be easy! Is there another step? (PS. I am not a "hit and run" case!)

  I am an OSX user, I have Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and an updated AirPort. I am trying to connect to my university's wireless network, but it has a complex security that I am having trouble defining... Here there are instructions for connecting with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux. Can someone please instruct me what should I do to set up this network on my MAC? Thank you. P.S. • Windows Storage Server 2008 hangs at logon

  We have a Dell PowerVault NX-3000 server running Windows Server 2008. Every now and then, when I try to login, the server seems to hang at the Welcome screen after I type in the password. However, all other services on the server are running fine - users are able to print off the print server and access their files. It just won't let me login. Any idea why this is happening? P.S.: I can't look at the server logs, because it won't let me login in the first place. Remote administration is also disabled on the server, so I can't use Remote Administration tools to look at the logs.

• Copying files within a Workgroup

  I have three boxes operating in a Windows Server workgroup within a closed network. (No Domain / No AD) There are several derivations of the scenario that I'm about to outline, but I'm sure I will be able to retool the solution as and when I need. Essentially the boxes are: 2 x Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Standard 1 x Windows Server 2000 Standard I need to be able to schedule the copying/and-or/moving of files from various directories and each of the boxes. Each box has a different username and password for the administrator. I have PowerShell 2.0 on the two Win2K8 boxes (obviously). Previously I have used mapped network drives to copy the files, and cmd line batches, but I'd much rather use Powershell if possible (with Shares and/or $ notation). However the Copy-Item cmdlet doesn't seem to be processing the Credential correctly. Perhaps some Powershell gurus out there might be able to help me. Essentially I'd like to schedule a PS run of script to push backup files onto my WIn2k box (old fileserver) periodically.

Unfortunately for this company, most new machines now come with a 64-bit version of Windows 7, which is incompatible with their FPD app. I know this time the writing is on the wall: the only long-term solution is to migrate their app. But I wonder if anyone can suggest a temporary alternative path, which doesn't involve either: a) downgrade 64-bit Windows to 32-bit, or b) run the app on a virtualized 32-bit XP Thanks!   Hello SuperUser My question is that is it possible to install Windows 7 (Current RTM Version) on a computer without using removable media like DVD or USB. First thing that comes to my mind is network but i dont have experience of doing Fresh Install of Windows 7 via Network. How to install Windows 7 via network without any removable media? P.S. I know some may think that doing so, is just a waste of time and it's easier to do it with removable media, but in current situation the target PC neather has CD/DVD Drive nor supports booting from USB. And in addition to that, Target computer is connected to Network via Wireless Network (Dunno if it will make any problem with installation).

• Asus AT3-IONT & Win XP

  Hello! I'm trying to install Windows XP on my nettop (Asus AT3-IONT motherboard). There is a problem - when the progress comes to partition selection, it sees all the partitions on the hard drive, but when I'm selecting any partition, it says that it's not compatible with Windows XP. Windows 7 was installed without any problems, but XP and 2003 R2 have this problem. How can I solve it? P.S. I already have Windows 7, I need exactly XP or 2003 for my work. Thanks.
