  I can't get this code to compile uding either the g77 minGW compiler or the g95 compiler. Does anyone know why? • Matching innermost braces with regex or strpos?

  I have a sort of mini parsing syntax I made up to help me streamline my view code in cakephp. Basically I have created a table helper which, when given a dataset and (optionally) a set of options for how to format the data will render out a table, as opposed to me looping though the data and editing it manually. It allows the user to be as complex or as simple as they like, it can get pretty powerful. However, In order to achieve this I had to make a simple parsing syntax. As a quick example the user would do something like so: $this->Table->data = $userData; $this->Table->elements['td']['data'] = array( '{:User.username:}', '{:User.created:}' => array('Time::nice') ); echo $this->Table->render(); And when rendering the table would then generate: <table> <tbody> <tr><td>rich97</td><td>Sun 21st 02:30pm</td></tr> </tbody> </table> The problem occurs then I try to nest the braces like so: {:User.levels.iconClasses.{:User.access:}:} Is there anyway I can only get the inner most brackets on the first time round and loop though until there are no matches? Or even do it in one go? Or even better use strpos? Here is my regex as it stands: '/\{\:([^}]+)\:\}/'

• Google Maps API v3 - infoWindows all have same content

  Hello, I've been having problems with the infoWindows and Google Maps API v3. Initially, I've ran into the problem that everyone else has of closing infoWindows when opening a new one. I thought to have solved the problem by defining "infowindow" beforehand. Now they close when I click on a new marker, but the content is the same. How should I re-structure my code to make sure the content is the right one each time - and only one infoWindow is open at a given time? Thank you! • Is There a Better Way to Feed Different Parameters into Functions with If-Statements?

  I've been teaching myself Python for a little while now, and I've never programmed before. I just wrote a basic backup program that writes out the progress of each individual file while it is copying. I wrote a function that determines buffer size so that smaller files are copied with a smaller buffer, and bigger files are copied with a bigger buffer.   I am going through some exam questions for the 70-536 exam and an actual question one developer postedon his blog has popped up in my exam questions. I cannot remember what his answer was .... but below is the question: You need to write a multicast delegate that accepts a DateTime arguement and returns a bool value. Which code segment should you use? A: public delegate int PowerDeviceOn(bool, DateTime) B: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(Object, EventArgs) C: public delegate void PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) D: public delegate bool PowerDeviceOn(DateTime) The answer is A. Can someone please explain why? As I already did some research into this question a while ago and so I was sure that it was C, obviously now looking back at the question its clear that I did not read properly. As i was sure I had seen the same one before so I jumped to the most obvious one. A varitation on this question: You need to write a multicast delegate that accepts a DateTime arguement. Notice how by simply keeping the sample asnwers the same and by removing a small portion of the question text, the answer is C and not A. The variation has no official answer as I just conjured it up using the exam question as a baseplate. The answer is definately C. This time round its easy to see why C is correctr but the very first question I have an inkiling but as you know an inkling is not good enough in passing exams. Thanks For Reading.

I mean, if I get the same executable and run it like './run' or run it like './run out.log', I get different results! I use std::cout to output to screen, all lines ending with endl; I use ifstream for the input file; I use ofstream for output, all lines ending with endl. I am using g++ 4. Any idea what is going on? UPDATE: I have hard-coded the input data, so 'ifstream' is not used, and problem persists. UPDATE 2: That's getting interesting. I have output three variables that are computed initially, and that's what I get with and without piping direct to screen: 0 -0.02 0 piped: 0 -0.02 1.04083e-17 So there's a round-off difference with and without piping the output! Now, why piping would interefere with an internal computation of the code?

• Why does an authorized OAuth request token need to be exchanged for an access token?

  I'm wondering what the reasons are for OAuth to require a round-trip to the data provider to exchange an authorized request token for an access token. My understanding of the OAuth workflow is: Requesting site (consumer) gets a request token from the data provider site (service provider). Requesting site asks the data provider site to authenticate the user, passing in a callback. Once the user has been authenticated and authorized the requesting site, the user is directed back to the requesting site (consumer) via the callback provided which passes back the now-authorized request token and a verification code. The requesting site exchanges the request token for an access token. The requesting site uses the access token to get data from the data provider site. Assuming I got that right, why couldn't the callback simply provide the access token to the requesting site directly in step 3, eliminating step 4? Why is the request to exchange the request token for the access token necessary? Does it exist solely for consumers that require users to enter the verification code manually, with the thought that it would be shorter and simpler than the access token itself?

• Auto Submitting a form (cURL)

  Im writing a form to post data off to paypal, and this works fine, i create the form with hidden fields and then have a submit button that submits everything to paypal. However, when the user clicks that button, there is more that i want to do, for example change their cart status in the database. So, i want to be able to execute some code when they click submit and then post the data to paypal. I dont want to use javascript for this. My method at the moment is using cURL, the form posts back to the current page, i then check for $_POST data, do my other commands like updating the status of the cart, and then create a curl command, and post the form data to paypal. Now, it gets posted successfully, but the browser doesnt go off to paypal. At first i was just retirieving the result in a string and then echoing it out and i could see that the post was successful, then i set CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION to 1 assuming this would let the browser go off to paypal but it doesnt, what it seems to do is grab some stuff from paypal and put it on my page. Is using cURL the right thing for this? and if so, how do i get round this problem? I want to stay away from javascript for this as only users with javascript enabled would have their cart updated. • jQuery validate problem

  Hi there. I have a jquery dialog box that pops up and takes user data through a form. Once the user is finished s/he clicks the 'ok' button. This dialog box has a few 'tabs' such that when 'ok' is clicked, we want to validate all the data given in each tab. If anything is invalid, we take the user to that tab and tell them what's wrong. However, it takes 2 clicks of 'ok' to achieve this. Here is the offending jquery: if(errors){ // display the tab with the error jQuery('#recording_tabs > div').each( function(i){ alert('we are here'); if(jQuery(this).find('*').not('label').hasClass('invalid')){ jQuery('#recording_tabs').tabs('option','selected', i); return false;// prevent further processing } }); } So what happens in the above code is that when we click 'ok' we get a 'we are here' alert for each div (tab) and then nothing happens. Clicking 'ok' again gives us the 'we are here' alert up until we are taken to the tab with the errors. So obviously the first time round the inner if statement is false for each tab which probably means jQuery hasn't registered the 'invalid' classes in time. So I tried a blank each() statement just before the main one in the hope that it would fix the problem jQuery('#recording_tabs > div').each( function(i){} ); But I got the same result. Can anyone spot anything I am missing?

• Starting a code library.

  Hi, I've been meaning to start a library of reusable code snippets for a while and never seem to get round to it. I think my main problems are: Where to start. What structure should my library take? Should it be a compiled library (where appropriate or just classes I can drop into any project? Or a library project that can be included? In my experience, a built library will quickly become out of date and the source will get lost. So I'm leaning towards source libraries that I can export from SVN and include in any project. Intellectual property. I am employeed, so a lot of the code I write is not my IP. How can I ensure that I don't give my own IP away using it on projects in work and at home? I'm thinking the best way would be to licence my library with an open source licence and make sure I only add to it in my own time using my own equipment and therefore making sure that if I use it in a work project the same rules apply as if I was using a third party library. I write in many different languages and often would require two or more parts of this library. Should I look at implementing a few template projects and a core project for each of my chosen reusable components and languages? Has anyone else got this sort of library and how do you organise and update it?

  I've been looking for a tutorial and answer to this for a while but can't find what I'm looking for. I am loading html text into a dynamic textfield, and I have a scrollbar controlling the scroll using the code below. What I want to do is also add scroll up/down buttons and have the scroll bar move in relation to the text scroll. I was just going to use "tracklistingtext.scrollV -- " for the scroll buttons, but right now the scroll bar doesn't recognize the text movement. • Iphone xcode simulator crashes when I move up and down on a table row

  I can't get my head round this. When the page loads, everything works fine - I can drill up and down, however 'stream' (in the position I have highlighted below) becomes not equal to anything when I pull up and down on the tableview. But the error is only sometimes. Normally it returns key/pairs.   Is there any good way to display rtl based languages (in this case Hebrew) in facbook? As soon as I include a page in rtl formating facebook it gives displays it ltr and usually aligned right. What definetly works is when I use dir="rtl" in the code. But then the fbml tag come out the other way round. And when I try to publish a stream it is not displayed correctly. Is there any support for rtl in facebook?   I'm trying to render a CGPDFPage (selected from a CGPDFDocument) into a UIImage to display on a view. I have the following code in MonoTouch which gets me part way there. My question is, how do I select the full pdf page and flip it round to display correctly. I have seen a few examples using ScaleCTM and TranslateCTM but couldn't seem to get them working. I would like back data3 = (x31=x11-x21, x32=x12=x22, ... x(3n)=x(1n)-x(2n) ) It would be good if it included the following condition: if data1 = ( 1, 5, 6, 8) data2 = (1.5, 3.3) data3 = (-0.5, 1.7) not data3 = (-0.5, 1.7, 6, 8) Please help.

  Here is my code-behind, this adds the "OakTreeName" to the datarepeater. There's about 200 of them. Basically I need to manipulate the "OakTreeName" variable and then input it as the ImageURL for the imagebutton within the item template. How do I do this? Am I approaching this wrong? Is there a way to manipulate the item template from code-behind before it gets displayed for each round of variables in the data repeater?

• Determine asymmetric latencies in a network

  Imagine you have many clustered servers, across many hosts, in a heterogeneous network environment, such that the connections between servers may have wildly varying latencies and bandwidth. You want to build a map of the connections between servers my transferring data between them. Of course, this map may become stale over time as the network topology changes - but lets ignore those complexities for now and assume the network is relatively static. Given the latencies between nodes in this host graph, calculating the bandwidth is a relative simply timing exercise. I'm having more difficulty with the latencies - however. To get round-trip time, it is a simple matter of timing a return-trip ping from the local host to a remote host - both timing events (start, stop) occur on the local host. What if I want one-way times under the assumption that the latency is not equal in both directions? Assuming that the clocks on the various hosts are not precisely synchronized (at least that their error is of the the same magnitude as the latencies involved) - how can I calculate the one-way latency? In a related question - is this asymmetric latency (where a link is quicker in direction than the other) common in practice? For what reasons/hardware configurations? Certainly I'm aware of asymmetric bandwidth scenarios, especially on last-mile consumer links such as DSL and Cable, but I'm not so sure about latency. Added: After considering the comment below, the second portion of the question is probably better off on serverfault.

• INotifyPropertyChanged Setter Style

  In order to reflect changes in your data to the UI you have to implement INotifyPropertyChanged, okay. If I look at examples, articles, tutorials etc most of the time the setters look like something in that manner: public string MyProperty { //get [...] set { if (_correspondingField == value) { return; } _correspondingField = value; OnPropertyChanged("MyProperty"); } } No problem so far, only raise the event if you have to, cool. But you could rewrite this code to this: public string MyProperty { //get [...] set { if (_correspondingField != value) { _correspondingField = value; OnPropertyChanged("MyProperty"); } } } It should do the same (?), you only have one place of return, it is less code, it is less boring code and it is more to the point ("only act if necessary" vs "if not necessary do nothing, the other way round act"). So if the second version has its pros compared to the first one, why I see this style rarely? I don't consider myself being smarter than those people that write frameworks, published articles etc, therefore the second version has to have drawbacks. Or is it wrong? Or do I think too much? • Arrays not counting correctly

  I know I was just asking a question earlier facepalm This is in Java coding by the way. Well after everyones VERY VERY helpful advice (thank you guys alot) I managed to get over half of the program running how I wanted. Everything is pointing in the arrays where I want them to go. Now I just need to access the arrays so that It prints the correct information randomly. • Modular Inverse and BigInteger division

  I've been working on the problem of calculating the modular inverse of an large integer i.e. a^-1 mod n. and have been using BigInteger's built in function modInverse to check my work. I've coded the algorithm as shown in The Handbook of Applied Cryptography by Menezes, et al. Unfortunately for me, I do not get the correct outcome for all integers. My thinking is that the line q = a.divide(b) is my problem as the divide function is not well documented (IMO)(my code suffers similarly). Does BigInteger.divide(val) round or truncate? My assumption is truncation since the docs say that it mimics int's behavior. Any other insights are appreciated.   Hello all. I am looking for some advice. I have rows of data in the database that i want to group together. There is a timestamp involved. That column is called date. What i am trying to do is organise each round of fixtures in a row with a title Week 1 - date. I want Week 1 and the date and all fixtures with that date displayed. Then move onto week 2 and the date and all fixtures again. This should be done for every fixture in the database, so if there are 6 rounds of fixtures, there will be 6 dates and therefore 6 blocks of fixtures.. Please help, thanks
