  • Use boost date_time to parse and create HTTP-dates

    - by John Price
    I'm writing a kind of HTTP proxy, so I need to be able to do 3 things: Parse an HTTP-date given any of the 3 formats specified in RFC 2616, sec 3.3, Convert a file date-time to an HTTP-date string, and Output the date to a string. For reference, theses are examples of the date-times I need to parse. I will output only the first format: Sun, 06 Nov 1994 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 822, updated by RFC 1123 Sunday, 06-Nov-94 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 850, obsoleted by RFC 1036 Sun Nov 6 08:49:37 1994 ; ANSI C's asctime() format I'm pretty sure Boost date_time can do all of this, but I'm having some trouble with number 1. Does anyone already have code to do this? Perhaps I'm not using google proficiently, but I can't find an example of how to do this with boost anywhere. Thanks for any help!

  • iPhone RSS thumbnail

    I have a simple RSS reader. Stories are downloaded, put into a UITableView, and when you click it, each story loads in a UIWebView. It works great. Now though, I'd like to incorporate an image on the left side (like you'd see in the YouTube app). However, since my app pulls from an RSS feed, I can't simply specify image X to appear in row X because row X will be row Y tomorrow, and things will get out of order, you know? I am currently pulling from a YouTube RSS feed, and can get the video title, description, publication date, but I'm stuck as to how to pull the little thumbnail besides each entry in the feed. As you can probably tell, I'm a coding newbie (this being my first application other than a Hello World app) and I'm getting so frustrated by my own lack of knowledge. Thanks! BTW, here's some sample code: - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict{ //NSLog(@"found this element: %@", elementName); if (currentElement) { [currentElement release]; currentElement = nil; } currentElement = [elementName copy]; if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) { // clear out our story item caches... item = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; currentTitle = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentDate = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentSummary = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentLink = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName{ //NSLog(@"ended element: %@", elementName); if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) { // save values to an item, then store that item into the array... [item setObject:currentTitle forKey:@"title"]; [item setObject:currentLink forKey:@"link"]; [item setObject:currentSummary forKey:@"summary"]; [item setObject:currentDate forKey:@"date"]; [stories addObject:[item copy]]; NSLog(@"adding story: %@", currentTitle); } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string{ //NSLog(@"found characters: %@", string); // save the characters for the current item... if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"title"]) { [currentTitle appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"link"]) { [currentLink appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"description"]) { [currentSummary appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"pubDate"]) { [currentDate appendString:string]; } }

  • Haskell Syntax: Parse Error On Input

    - by NuNu
    As part of a mini-haskell compiler that I'm writing, I have a function named app. What I want this function to do is take in these arguments epp (App e1 e2). The first step would be to evaluate e1 recursively (epp e1) and check if the output would be an error. If not then evaluate e2 and then call another function eppVals to evaluate the outputs of the calls on e1 and e2 which I defined as v1 and v2 respectively. epp (App e1 e2) | epp e1 /= Error = eppVals v1 v2 | otherwise = Error where v1 = epp e1 v2 = epp e2 <- parse error on input `=' Logically I believe what I have written so far works but I'm getting a parse error on input = where I stated above. Any idea why? My second try epp :: Exp -> Error Val epp (App e1 e2) = (eppVals v1 v2) where v1 = (epp e1) v2 = (epp e2) But now throws Couldn't match expected type Val with actual type Error Val

  • Difference in DocumentBuilder.parse when using JRE 1.5 and JDK 1.6

    - by dhiller
    Recently at last we have switched our projects to Java 1.6. When executing the tests I found out that using 1.6 a SAXParseException is not thrown which has been thrown using 1.5. Below is my test code to demonstrate the problem. import java.io.StringReader; import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder; import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory; import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource; import javax.xml.validation.SchemaFactory; import org.junit.Test; import org.xml.sax.InputSource; import org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; /** * Test class to demonstrate the difference between JDK 1.5 to JDK 1.6. * * Seen on Linux: * * <pre> * #java version "1.6.0_18" * Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_18-b07) * Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 16.0-b13, mixed mode) * </pre> * * Seen on OSX: * * <pre> * java version "1.6.0_17" * Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04-248-10M3025) * Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.3-b01-101, mixed mode) * </pre> * * @author dhiller (creator) * @author $Author$ (last editor) * @version $Revision$ * @since 12.03.2010 11:32:31 */ public class TestXMLValidation { /** * Tests the schema validation of an XML against a simple schema. * * @throws Exception * Falls ein Fehler auftritt * @throws junit.framework.AssertionFailedError * Falls eine Unit-Test-Pruefung fehlschlaegt */ @Test(expected = SAXParseException.class) public void testValidate() throws Exception { final StreamSource schema = new StreamSource( new StringReader( "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>" + "<xs:schema xmlns:xs=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\" " + "elementFormDefault=\"qualified\" xmlns:xsd=\"undefined\">" + "<xs:element name=\"Test\"/>" + "</xs:schema>" ) ); final String xml = "<Test42/>"; final DocumentBuilderFactory newFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); newFactory.setSchema( SchemaFactory.newInstance( "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" ).newSchema( schema ) ); final DocumentBuilder documentBuilder = newFactory.newDocumentBuilder(); documentBuilder.parse( new InputSource( new StringReader( xml ) ) ); } } When using a JVM 1.5 the test passes, on 1.6 it fails with "Expected exception SAXParseException". The Javadoc of the DocumentBuilderFactory.setSchema(Schema) Method says: When errors are found by the validator, the parser is responsible to report them to the user-specified ErrorHandler (or if the error handler is not set, ignore them or throw them), just like any other errors found by the parser itself. In other words, if the user-specified ErrorHandler is set, it must receive those errors, and if not, they must be treated according to the implementation specific default error handling rules. The Javadoc of the DocumentBuilder.parse(InputSource) method says: BTW: I tried setting an error handler via setErrorHandler, but there still is no exception. Now my question: What has changed to 1.6 that prevents the schema validation to throw a SAXParseException? Is it related to the schema or to the xml that I tried to parse?

  • Easiest Way to Parse data from twitter with Cocoa

    - by happyCoding25
    Hello, I've followed the tutorial from here: Twitter Client Tutorial to make a little twitter app. Now I need to find out how to parse the XML twitter gives you when you make a request. I've looked at tons of tutorials on phrasing xml on the iPhone but none have made much sense because Im still new to cocoa. Twitter stores the text of the tweet in something like this <text> Some tweet here </text>. From reading the tutorials I think this would involve nsxmlparser but I'm not sure. If anyone could share some code that could parse the <text> Some tweet here </text> things into an array that would be really great. Thanks in advance

  • Parse and charset: why my script doesn't work

    - by Rebol Tutorial
    I want to extract attribute1 and attribute3 values only. I don't understand why charset doesn't seem to work in my case to "skip" any other attributes (attribute3 is not extracted as I would like): content: {<tag attribute1="valueattribute1" attribute2="valueattribute2" attribute3="valueattribute3"> </tag> <tag attribute2="valueattribute21" attribute1="valueattribute11" > </tag> } attribute1: [{attribute1="} copy valueattribute1 to {"} thru {"}] attribute3: [{attribute3="} copy valueattribute3 to {"} thru {"}] spacer: charset reduce [tab newline #" "] letter: complement spacer to-space: [some letter | end] attributes-rule: [(valueattribute1: none valueattribute3: none) [attribute1 | none] to-space [attribute3 | none] (print valueattribute1 print valueattribute3) | [attribute3 | none] to-space [attribute1 | none] (print valueattribute3 print valueattribute1 valueattribute1: none valueattribute3: none ) | none ] rule: [any [to {<tag } thru {<tag } attributes-rule {>} to {</tag>} thru {</tag>}] to end] parse content rule output is >> parse content rule valueattribute1 none == true >>

  • How can I construct and parse a JSON string in Scala / Lift

    - by David Carlson
    I am using JsonResponse to send some JSON to the client. To test that I am sending the correct response it seemed natural to me to parse the resulting JSON and validate against a data structure rather than comparing substrings. But for some reason I am unable to parse the JSON I just constructed: def tryToParse = { val jsObj :JsObj = JsObj(("foo", "bar")); // 1) val jsObjStr :String = jsObj.toJsCmd // 2) jsObjStr is: "{'foo': 'bar'}" val result = JSON.parseFull(jsObjStr) // 3) result is: None // the problem seems to be caused by the quotes: val works = JSON.parseFull("{\"foo\" : \"bar\"}") // 4) result is: Some(Map(foo -> bar)) val doesntWork = JSON.parseFull("{'foo' : 'bar'}") // 5) result is: None } How do I programmatically construct a valid JSON message in Scala/Lift that can also be parsed again?

  • Best tools to parse reports

    - by Andy Schaefer
    I have a report that I need to parse/scrape for loading into an alternate or query-able data store. The report looks like something akin to: this. My gut is that PERL would do a decent job, but I have several different permutations of the report and I don't really want to make a script around each form. This report is a pretty stock type report, and I have seen where Monarch Pro can parse these types of reports, but I have had a difficult time finding alternatives to how these could be parsed since I'm looking to do this working primarily in a Linux environment. Any suggestions?

  • DateTime.Parse with the "+" symbol

    - by Blah_Blah
    So I have a piece of code which parses and validates user input: DateTime myDateTime = DateTime.Parse(userInput,currentCulture); Current culture is being set (to en-ca or en-fr) and the user Input is always in ISO 8601 format "yyyy-MM-dd". If the user enters 1900-01-01 the date is created as expected. If the input is "1900-01+01" the date time created is 1899-12-31 6:00:00 PM No exception is thrown, the DateTime.Parse happily converts this to the wrong date. To make this work I am using DateTime.ParseExact(userInput,"yyyy-MM-dd",currentCulture). So my question is: whats up with the +01 or any + value? Am I missing something in ISO standard?

  • change/part doesn't work as expected with parse

    - by Rebol Tutorial
    According to http://www.rebol.com/docs/core23/rebolcore-15.html You can use change/part to parse and replace but that doesn't work well with this where I just try to replace the block <mytag > ... </mytag> by "MyString" content: {<mytag id="a" 111111111111111> </mytag> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <mytag id="b" 22222222222222222> </mytag> <mytag id="c" 3333333333333> </mytag> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <mytag id="d" 444444444444444> </mytag> } mytag: [ to {<mytag} start: ( ) thru {<mytag} to {id="} thru {id="} copy ID to {"} thru {"} to {</mytag>} thru {</mytag>} ending: (change/part start "mystring" ending) mark: ( write clipboard:// mark input) ] rule: [any mytag to end] parse content rule

  • using jquery to parse XML export in drupal

    - by gables20
    I need to use jquery to parse a drupal xml export that was created with views datasource module. The format of the xml export is shown below and on the browser, its access by entering, say for example, http://mydomain/test.xml, where test.xml represents the path of the xml export. <node> <node> <nothing> Lorem ipsum </nothing> </node> <node> The jquery to parse xml is shown below. But, it does nothing, which is kind of the main problem. $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://mydomain/test.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml){ $(xml).find('node').each(function(){ var title = $(this).find('nothing').text(); $('#output').append($(this).find('nothing').text()); }); } }); });

  • Using sscanf to parse two strings out

    - by Jessica
    I have a semi xml formatted file that contains line with the following format: <param name="Distance" value="1000Km" /> The first char in the string is usually a TAB or spaces. I've been using the following to try to parse the two strings out (from name and value): if(sscanf(lineread, "\t<param name=\"%s\" value=\"%s\" />", name, value) == 1) { //do something } name and value are char* Now, the result is always the same: name gets parse (I need to remove the quotes) and name is always empty. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, code is appreciated. Jess.

  • Parse XML with XPath & namespaces in Java

    - by ripper234
    Can you help me adjust this code so it manages to parse the XML? If I drop the XML namespace it works: String webXmlContent = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>\n" + "<foo xmlns=\"http://foo.bar/boo\"><bar>baz</bar></foo>"; DocumentBuilderFactory domFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); domFactory.setNamespaceAware(true); DocumentBuilder builder = domFactory.newDocumentBuilder(); org.w3c.dom.Document doc = builder.parse(new StringInputStream(webXmlContent)); NamespaceContextImpl namespaceContext = new NamespaceContextImpl(); namespaceContext.startPrefixMapping("foo", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"); XPath xpath = XPathFactory.newInstance().newXPath(); xpath.setNamespaceContext(namespaceContext); XPathExpression expr = xpath.compile("/foo/bar"); Object result = expr.evaluate(doc, XPathConstants.NODESET); NodeList nodes = (NodeList) result; System.out.println("Got " + nodes.getLength() + " nodes");

  • How to Parse 'Mathy' Stuff...

    - by Rob P.
    Please forgive my title, I really don't know how to phrase it better. This isn't a school assignment or anything, but I realize it's a mostly academic question. But, what I've been struggling to do is parse 'math' text and come up with an answer. For Example - I can figure out how to parse '5 + 5' or '3 * 5' - but I fail when I try to correctly chain operations together. (5 + 5) * 3 It's mostly just bugging me that I can't figure it out. If anyone can point me in a direction, I'd really appreciate it.

  • DocumentBuilder.parse() / Parsing Entities

    - by stormin986
    I'm new to parsing XML and am having an issue with entities. (Am doing this on Android, if it makes a difference). Is there a way to have it turn an entity into the character it represents? I have this in the child of an element: "isn&#39;t" (minus quotes). I would prefer it parse it and the end result be a single text node. However, right now this is turned in to TEXT, ENTITY, TEXT. Is there a way to automatically have it parse the entity into text, or a manual way to do it?

  • What the best way to parse and find The specific data

    - by Khemlall Mangal

I am using the following alterations to the names in the tutorial: posts = kases comments = notes I have setup the models as follows: class Kase < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :jobno has_many :notes belongs_to :company # foreign key: company_id belongs_to :person # foreign key in join table belongs_to :surveyor, :class_name => "Company", :foreign_key => "appointedsurveyor_id" belongs_to :surveyorperson, :class_name => "Person", :foreign_key => "surveyorperson_id" def to_param jobno end and... class Note < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :kase end The Notes controller look like this: # POST /notes # POST /notes.xml def create @kase = Kase.find(params[:kase_id]) @note = @kase.notes.build(params[:note]) redirect_to @kase end and the database scheme for Kases looks like this: create_table "notes", :force => true do |t| t.integer "kase_id" t.text "body" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" end and for kases... create_table "kases", :force => true do |t| t.string "jobno" t.date "dateinstructed" t.string "clientref" t.string "clientcompanyname" t.text "clientcompanyaddress" t.string "clientcompanyfax" t.string "casehandlername" t.string "casehandlertel" t.string "casehandleremail" t.text "casesubject" t.string "transport" t.string "goods" t.string "claimantname" t.string "claimantaddressline1" t.string "claimantaddressline2" t.string "claimantaddressline3" t.string "claimantaddresscity" t.string "claimantaddresspostcode" t.string "claimantcontact" t.string "claimanttel" t.string "claimantmob" t.string "claimantemail" t.string "claimanturl" t.string "lyingatlocationname" t.string "lyingatlocationaddressline1" t.string "lyingatlocationaddressline2" t.string "lyingatlocationaddressline3" t.string "lyingatlocationaddresscity" t.string "lyingatlocationaddresspostcode" t.string "lyingatlocationcontactname" t.string "lyingattel" t.string "lyingatmobile" t.string "lyingatlocationurl" t.text "comments" t.string "invoicenumber" t.string "netamount" t.string "vat" t.string "grossamount" t.date "dateclosed" t.date "datepaid" t.datetime "filecreated" t.string "avatar_file_name" t.string "avatar_content_type" t.integer "avatar_file_size" t.datetime "avatar_updated_at" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.string "kase_status" t.string "invoice_date" t.integer "surveyorperson_id" t.integer "appointedsurveyor_id" t.integer "person_id" t.string "company_id" t.string "dischargeamount" t.string "dishchargeheader" t.text "highrisesubject" end Whenever I enter a note into the kase show view's note entry form: <h2>Notes</h2> <div id="sub-notes"> <%= render :partial => @kase.notes %> </div> <% form_for [@kase, Note.new] do |f| %> <p> <%= f.label :body, "New Note" %><br /> <%= f.text_area :body %> </p> <p><%= f.submit "Add Note" %></p> <% end %> partial: <% div_for note do %> <p> <strong>Created <%= time_ago_in_words(note.created_at) %> ago</strong><br /> <%= h(note.body) %> </p> <% end %> I get the following error: ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound in NotesController#create Couldn't find Kase with ID=Test Case I have tried removing the def to_param jobno end from the kase model, but the same error shows.   • Difference in String concatenation performance

    - by Homer
    I know you should use a StringBuilder when concatenating strings but I was just wondering if there is a difference in concatenating string variables and string literals. So, is there a difference in performance in building s1, s2, and s3? string foo = "foo"; string bar = "bar"; string s1 = "foo" + "bar"; string s2 = foo + "bar"; string s3 = foo + bar;
