• Symfony: embedRelation() controlling options for nesting multiple levels of relations

  Hey all, I'm trying to set some conditional statements for nested embedRelation() instances, and can't find a way to get any kind of option through to the second embedRelation. I've got a "Measure-Page-Question" table relationship, and I'd like to be able to choose whether or not to display the Question table. For example, say I have two "success" pages, page1Success.php and page2Success.php. On page1, I'd like to display "Measure-Page-Question", and on page2, I'd like to display "Measure-Page", but I need a way to pass an "option" to the PageForm.class.php file to make that kind of decision. My actions.class.php file has something like this: // actions.class.php $this-form = new measureForm($measure, array('option'=$option)); to pass an option to the "Page", but passing that option through "Page" into "Question" doesn't work. My measureForm.class.php file has an embedRelation in it that is dependent on the "option": // measureForm.class.php if ($this-getOption('option') == "page_1") { $this-embedRelation('Page'); } and this is what i'd like to do in my pageForm.class.php file: // pageForm.class.php if ($this-getOption('option') == "page_1") { // Or != "page_2", or whatever $this-embedRelation('Question'); } I can't seem to find a way to do this. Any ideas? Is there a preferred Symfony way of doing this type of operation, perhaps without embedRelation? It works fine. But what i want would be that if the child object changes (in my example address) that the parent object gets notified (in my case user). Would it be possible to expand this code so it automaticly creates listeners on parent objects that listen for changes in its child objets?

  I'm semi-new to writing ASP.Net applications using master pages and I've run into an issue I've spent some time on but can't seem to solve.   Hello Folks, I am trying to map a table frp, a SQL Server 2005 DB to a class which contains an enum: public class MyClass{ private YesNoOptional addressSetting; public YesNoOptional AddressSetting{ {get; set;} } } public enum YesNoOptional { Yes, No, Optional } This will dictate that one of three values is inserted into the corresponding column - 'Y', 'N', 'O'. This column is of type nchar(1). My mapping file is like so (addressSetting is the property which is causing the problem): <class name="IncidentDefinition" table="IR_INCIDENT_DEF" lazy="false" > <id name="Guid" column="INT_GUID" > <generator class="guid"></generator> </id> <property name="Reference" column="INT_REF" ></property> <property name="Description" column="INT_DESCRIPTION" ></property> <property name="AddressSetting" column="INT_ADDRESS_REQ" ></property> <property name="Active" column="INT_ACTIVE" type="YesNo"></property> <property name="PinDocId" column="INT_PIN_DOC_ID"></property> </class> Using the config above I get the following error: NHibernate.ADOException: could not initialize a collection: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.. Next, if I try using a specific type like so: <property name="AddressSetting" column="INT_ADDRESS_REQ" type="String" ></property> This error is generated: NHibernate.PropertyAccessException: The type System.String can not be assigned to a property of type System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.String' cannot be converted to type 'ML.Types.YesNoOptional'.. As a last resort I tried to specify the type as a char like so: <property name="AddressSetting" column="INT_ADDRESS_REQ" type="Char" ></property> This works a bit better, as it in it doesnt throw an error, however instead of returning the character from the table and mapping it to the enumerated type the ASCII value of the character is returned instead - so Y is represented by 89! • VS2008: File creation fails randomly in unit testing?

  I'm working on implementing a reasonably simple XML serializer/deserializer (log file parser) application in C# .NET with VS 2008. I have about 50 unit tests right now for various parts of the code (mostly for the various serialization operations), and some of them seem to be failing mostly at random when they deal with file I/O. The way the tests are structured is that in the test setup method, I create a new empty file at a certain predetermined location, and close the stream I get back. Then I run some basic tests on the file (varying by what exactly is under test). In the cleanup method, I delete the file again. A large portion (usually 30 or more, though the number varies run to run) of my unit tests will fail at the initialize method, claiming they can't access the file I'm trying to create. I can't pin down the exact reason, since a test that will work one run fails the next; they all succeed when run individually. What's the problem here? Why can't I access this file across multiple unit tests? • Marshalling polymorphic objects in JAX-WS

  I'm creating a JAX-WS type webservice, with operations that return an object WebServiceReply. The class WebServiceReply itself contains a field of type Object. The individual operations would populate that field with a few different data-types, depending on the operation. Publishing the WSDL (I'm using Netbeans 6.7), and getting a ASP.NET application to retrieve and parse the WSDL was fine, but when I tried to call an operation, I would receive the following exception: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: javax.xml.bind.MarshalException - with linked exception: [javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: class [LDataObject.Patient; nor any of its super class is known to this context.] How do I mark the annotations in the DataObject.Patient class, as well as the WebServiceReply class to get it to work? I haven't been able to fine a definitive resource on marshalling based upon annotations within the target classes either, so it would be great if anybody could point me to that too. JAXB worked properly after that! Nonetheless, I'm still learning about JAXB marshalling in JAX-WS, so it would be great if anyone can still post any tutorial on this.   I'm writing my first C# web application that connects to an XML based service. It requires that I present a certificate and feed the XML stream. It seems to authenticate properly but then it gives the following error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.1.10.4:3128 The funny thing is that I'm not on a proxy or anything like that. I'm connecting directly to the internet. At one point I we did use a proxy that with internal NAT address. So my question is: Does Visual Studio have some sort of default proxy setting that I need to change? • Reusing xalan transformer causing its extension functions break

  I am using xalan 2.7.1 to validate my xml docs with xslt style sheet. It works fine for the first document and returns error message in case of error along with correct line and column number of xml source by making use of NodeInfo.lineNumber and NodeInfo.columnNumber extensions. The problem is when I try to reuse transformer to validate other xml docs, it successfully transforms the document but always returns lineNumber=columnNumber=-1 for all errors. Any idea? • Is it possible to have mspec & NUnit tests in a single project

When I add the mspec (machine.specifications) assembly to the references, both ReSharper and TestDriven.Net stop running the NUnit tests and only run the mspec tests. Is there a way or setting that allows both NUnit & mspec tests to co-exist and run in the same project using R# & TD.Net test runners?

• How to break a Hibernate session?

  In the Hibernate reference, it is stated several times that All exceptions thrown by Hibernate are fatal. This means you have to roll back the database transaction and close the current Session. You aren’t allowed to continue working with a Session that threw an exception. One of our legacy apps uses a single session to update/insert many records from files into a DB table. Each recourd update/insert is done in a separate transaction, which is then duly committed (or rolled back in case an error occurred). Then for the next record a new transaction is opened etc. But the same session is used throughout the whole process, even if a HibernateException was caught in the middle. We are using Oracle 9i btw with Hibernate 3.24.sp1 on JBoss 4.2. Reading the above in the book, I realized that this design may fail. So I refactored the app to use a separate session for each record update. In a unit test with a mock session factory, I could prove that it is now requesting a new session for each record update. So far, so good. However, we found no way to reproduce the session failure while testing the whole app (would this be a stress test btw, or ...?). We thought of shutting down the listener of the DB but we realized that the app is keeping a bunch of connections open to the DB, and the listener would not affect those connections. (This is a web app, activated once every night by a scheduler, but it can also be activated via the browser.) Then we tried to kill some of those connections in the DB while the app was processing updates - this resulted in some failed updates, but then the app happily continued. Apparently Hibernate is clever enough to reopen broken connections under the hood without breaking the whole session. So this might not be a critical issue, as our app seems to be robust enough even in its original form. However, the issue keeps bugging me. I would like to know: Under what circumstances does the Hibernate session really become unusable after a HibernateException was thrown? How to reproduce this in a test? (What's the proper term for such a test?)

  Hey Guy, I'm trying to compile one single cpp file with Eclipse CDT and MinGW. On command line, c++ Test.cpp does the job. If I try to compile the file with Eclipse, I get errors telling me that I don't have included string.h in my lib files. How do I setup Eclipse just to perform "g++ Test.cpp" without considering my lib files as independent files? Thanks for helping :) Kon

  Hi, We would like to test our web application (jsf 1.2, richfaces 3.3.3) with jsfunit. We are using junit 4.8.1 library for our unit tests. But jsfunit (1.2.0.Final) requires non existing class junit.runner.TestSuiteLoader. If i downgrade to junit 3.8, i can't use annotations any my Test classes any more. Is there a solution for it?
