  • .Net Dynamically Load DLL

    - by hermiod
    I am trying to write some code that will allow me to dynamically load DLLs into my application, depending on an application setting. The idea is that the database to be accessed is set in the application settings and then this loads the appropriate DLL and assigns it to an instance of an interface for my application to access. This is my code at the moment: Dim SQLDataSource As ICRDataLayer Dim ass As Assembly = Assembly. _ LoadFrom("M:\MyProgs\WebService\DynamicAssemblyLoading\SQLServer\bin\Debug\SQLServer.dll") Dim obj As Object = ass.CreateInstance(GetType(ICRDataLayer).ToString, True) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj, ICRDataLayer) MsgBox(SQLDataSource.ModuleName & vbNewLine & SQLDataSource.ModuleDescription) I have my interface (ICRDataLayer) and the SQLServer.dll contains an implementation of this interface. I just want to load the assembly and assign it to the SQLDataSource object. The above code just doesn't work. There are no exceptions thrown, even the Msgbox doesn't appear. I would've expected at least the messagebox appearing with nothing in it, but even this doesn't happen! Is there a way to determine if the loaded assembly implements a specific interface. I tried the below but this also doesn't seem to do anything! For Each loadedType As Type In ass.GetTypes If GetType(ICRDataLayer).IsAssignableFrom(loadedType) Then Dim obj1 As Object = ass.CreateInstance(GetType(ICRDataLayer).ToString, True) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj1, ICRDataLayer) End If Next EDIT: New code from Vlad's examples: Module CRDataLayerFactory Sub New() End Sub ' class name is a contract, ' should be the same for all plugins Private Function Create() As ICRDataLayer Return New SQLServer() End Function End Module Above is Module in each DLL, converted from Vlad's C# example. Below is my code to bring in the DLL: Dim SQLDataSource As ICRDataLayer Dim ass As Assembly = Assembly. _ LoadFrom("M:\MyProgs\WebService\DynamicAssemblyLoading\SQLServer\bin\Debug\SQLServer.dll") Dim factory As Object = ass.CreateInstance("CRDataLayerFactory", True) Dim t As Type = factory.GetType Dim method As MethodInfo = t.GetMethod("Create") Dim obj As Object = method.Invoke(factory, Nothing) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj, ICRDataLayer) EDIT: Implementation based on Paul Kohler's code Dim file As String For Each file In Directory.GetFiles(baseDir, searchPattern, SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly) Dim assemblyType As System.Type For Each assemblyType In Assembly.LoadFrom(file).GetTypes Dim s As System.Type() = assemblyType.GetInterfaces For Each ty As System.Type In s If ty.Name.Contains("ICRDataLayer") Then MsgBox(ty.Name) plugin = DirectCast(Activator.CreateInstance(assemblyType), ICRDataLayer) MessageBox.Show(plugin.ModuleName) End If Next I get the following error with this code: Unable to cast object of type 'SQLServer.CRDataSource.SQLServer' to type 'DynamicAssemblyLoading.ICRDataLayer'. The actual DLL is in a different project called SQLServer in the same solution as my implementation code. CRDataSource is a namespace and SQLServer is the actual class name of the DLL. The SQLServer class implements ICRDataLayer, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be able to cast it. Is the naming significant here, I wouldn't have thought it would be.

  • If statement is ignored

    - by user2898120
    I am making a simple matchmaker as a learning project in JAVA. My program so far just asks a few questions, but I wanted to do gender specific questions, so I asked for their sex (m or f) and then attempted to add a message that only showed if sex was m. The dialog should say "well done, you are male!". Else it restarts method. Every time, no matter what I type it restarts the program. Here is my code: import javax.swing.JOptionPane; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args){ setVars(); } public static void setVars(){ String name = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "What is your name?"); String sAge = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "What is your age?"); String sex = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "What is your sex?\n(Enter m or f)"); if (sex == "m"){ JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Well done, you are male.\nKeep Going!"); } int age = Integer.parseInt(sAge); String chars = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "Name three charectaristics"); } }

  • difference between DataContract attribute and Serializable attribute in .net

    - by samar
    I am trying to create a deep clone of an object using the following method. public static T DeepClone<T>(this T target) { using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream()) { BinaryFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); formatter.Serialize(stream, target); stream.Position = 0; return (T)formatter.Deserialize(stream); } } This method requires an object which is Serialized i.e. an object of a class who is having an attribute "Serializable" on it. I have a class which is having attribute "DataContract" on it but the method is not working with this attribute. I think "DataContract" is also a type of serializer but maybe different than that of "Serializable". Can anyone please give me the difference between the two? Also please let me know if it is possible to create a deepclone of an object with just 1 attribute which does the work of both "DataContract" and "Serializable" attribute or maybe a different way of creating a deepclone? Please help!

  • How do I get many, but not all, property values from View to Presenter in WebFormsMvp?

    - by andrej351
    Hey there, What is the best way to get a number of property values of a business object from the View to the Presenter in a WebFormsMvp page? Here is what i propose: The scenario is, I have a business object called Quote which i would like to load form the database, edit and then save. The Quote class has heaps of properties on it. The form is concerned with about 20 of these properties. I have existing methods to load/save a Quote object to/from the database. I now need to wire this all together. So, in the View_Load handler on my presenter i intend to do something like this: public void View_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { View.Model.Quote = quoteService.Read(quoteId); } And then bind all my controls as follows: <asp:TextBox ID="TotalPriceTextBox" runat="server" Text="<%# Model.Quote.TotalPrice %>" /> All good, the data is on the screen. The user then makes a bunch of changes and hits a "Submit" button. Here is where I'm unsure. I create a class called QuoteEventArgs exposing the 20 properties the form is able to edit. When the View raises the Submit button's event, I set these properties to the values of the controls in the code behind. Then raise the event for the presenter to respond to. The presenter re-loads the Quote object from the database, sets all the properties and saves it to the database. Is this the right way to do this? If not, what is? Cheers, Andrej.

  • Java split giving opposite order of arabic characters

    - by MuhammadA
    I am splitting the following string using \\| in java (android) using the IntelliJ 12 IDE. Everything is fine except the last part, somehow the split picks them up in the opposite order : As you can see the real positioning 34,35,36 is correct and according to the string, but when it gets picked out into split part no 5 its in the wrong order, 36,35,34 ... Any way I can get them to be in the right order? My Code: public ArrayList<Book> getBooksFromDatFile(Context context, String fileName) { ArrayList<Book> books = new ArrayList<Book>(); try { // load csv from assets InputStream is = context.getAssets().open(fileName); try { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is)); String line; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { String[] RowData = line.split("\\|"); books.add(new Book(RowData[0], RowData[1], RowData[2], RowData[3], RowData[4], RowData[5])); } } catch (IOException ex) { Log.e(TAG, "Error parsing csv file!"); } finally { try { is.close(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e(TAG, "Error closing input stream!"); } } } catch (IOException ex) { Log.e(TAG, "Error reading .dat file from assets!"); } return books; }

  • Strings exported from a module have changed line breaks

    - by Jesse Millikan
    In a DrScheme project, I'm using a MrEd editor-canvas% with text% and inserting a string from a literal in a Scheme file. This results in an extra blank line in the editor for each line of text I'm trying to insert. I've tracked this down to the apparent fact that string literals from outside modules are getting extra line breaks. Here's a full example. The editor is irrelevant at this point, but it displays the result. ; test-literals.ss (module test-literals scheme (provide (all-defined-out)) (define exported-string "From another module with some more line breaks. ")) ; editor-test.ss (module editor-test scheme (require mred "test-literals.ss") (define w (instantiate frame% ("Editor Test" #f) )) (define c (instantiate editor-canvas% (w) (line-count 12) (min-width 400))) (define editor (instantiate text% ())) (send c set-editor editor) (send w show #t) (send editor erase) (send editor insert "Some text with some line breaks. ") (send editor insert exported-string)) And the result in the editor is Some text with some line breaks. From another module with some more line breaks. I've traced in and figured out that it's changing Unix line breaks to Windows line breaks when strings are imported from another module, but these display as double line breaks. Why is this happening and is there a way to stop it other than changing every imported string?

  • Using resource values as layout attributes (config.xml)

    - by synic
    Looking in the android sdk folders, I've found a file called values/config.xml. This seems to be somewhere that you can define values for later use in layouts and animations. Given the config.xml: <resources> <string name="config_somePadding">50dip</string> </resources> How would I reference this to use as the layout_height in a layout xml file? @string/config_somePadding is actually the only one I've found that doesn't throw an error in Eclipse (even though there isn't a config_somePadding in values/strings.xml), but it appears to just put an empty string. In the sdk, they use an integer for animation duration. They reference it like this: android:duration="@android:integer/config_longAnimTime". Is there a way to use values that aren't integers in the layout_height attribute?

  • DeSerialization doesn't work though i Implement GetObjectData method and Constructor

    - by Punit Singhi
    Hi, I have a static generic dictionary in a class. As static memeber cannot serialized so i have implented ISerializable interface and method GetObjectData to serialize. I have a constructor which will also accept SerializationInfo and StreamingContext to deserliaze the dictionay. Now when i try to serialize and deserialize , it always return 1(thoug i added 2 entries). please find the pseduo code- [Serializable] public class MyClass : ISerializable { internal static Dictionary<long, string> dict = new Dictionary<long,string>(); public void GetObjectData(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) { info.AddValue("static.dic", MyClass1.dict, typeof(Dictionary<long, string>)); } public MyClass(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) { MyClass.dict= (Dictionary<long, string>)info.GetValue("static.dic", typeof(Dictionary<long, string>)); } public void Add() { dict.Add(21, "11"); } public MyClass() { dict.Add(21, "11"); } } public class MyClass { MyClass myClass = new MyClass(); public static void Main() { myClass.Add(); FileStream fileStream = new FileStream("test.binary", FileMode.Create); IFormatter bf = new BinaryFormatter(); bf.Serialize(fileStream, myClass); fileStream.Dispose(); fileStream.Close(); fileStream = new FileStream("test.binary", FileMode.Open); bf = new BinaryFormatter(); myClass = (MyClass1)bf.Deserialize(fileStream); } }

  • What is the appropriate terminology in Java when building remote proxies?

    - by Uri
    Suppose that I am implementing a remote proxy in Java to an object that is likely to reside on a remote server but may reside locally. There's my real object on the remote server, there's the local implementation (the proxy itself), and there's the interface I provide to my program which hides the details of where the object actually is. The local representation may contact a local or a remote implementation of the object. What is the standard terminology in Java for these things? What should I name my interfaces/classes? I've seen the terms Subjects, Images, and Implementations thrown around (probably from the GOF days), but I wonder what is acceptable way to do the naming for a framework written in Java.

  • Excel Automation Addin UDFs not accesible

    - by Eric
    I created the following automation addin: namespace AutomationAddin { [Guid("6652EC43-B48C-428a-A32A-5F2E89B9F305")] [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.AutoDual)] [ComVisible(true)] public class MyFunctions { public MyFunctions() { } #region UDFs public string ToUpperCase(string input) { return input.ToUpper(); } #endregion [ComRegisterFunctionAttribute] public static void RegisterFunction(Type type) { Registry.ClassesRoot.CreateSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "Programmable")); RegistryKey key = Registry.ClassesRoot.OpenSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "InprocServer32"), true); key.SetValue("", System.Environment.SystemDirectory + @"\mscoree.dll", RegistryValueKind.String); } [ComUnregisterFunctionAttribute] public static void UnregisterFunction(Type type) { Registry.ClassesRoot.DeleteSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "Programmable"), false); } private static string GetSubKeyName(Type type, string subKeyName) { System.Text.StringBuilder s = new System.Text.StringBuilder(); s.Append(@"CLSID\{"); s.Append(type.GUID.ToString().ToUpper()); s.Append(@"}\"); s.Append(subKeyName); return s.ToString(); } } } I build it and it registers just fine. I open excel 2003, go to tools-Add-ins, click on the automation button and the addin appears in the list. I add it and it shows up in the addins list. but, the functions themselves don't appear. If I type it in it doesn't work and if I look in the function wizard, my addin doesn't show up as a category and the functions are not in the list. I am using excel 2003 on windows 7 x86. I built the project with visual studio 2010. This addin worked fine on windows xp built with visual studio 2008.

  • Optional Member Objects

    - by David Relihan
    Okay, so you have a load of methods sprinkled around your systems main class. So you do the right thing and refactor by creating a new class and perform move method(s) into a new class. The new class has a single responsibility and all is right with the world again: class Feature { public: Feature(){}; void doSomething(); void doSomething1(); void doSomething2(); }; So now your original class has a member variable of type object: Feature _feature; Which you will call in the main class. Now if you do this many times, you will have many member-objects in your main class. Now these features may or not be required based on configuration so in a way it's costly having all these objects that may or not be needed. Can anyone suggest a way of improving this? At the moment I plan to test in the newly created class if the feature is enabled - so the when a call is made to method I will return if it is not enabled. I could have a pointer to the object and then only call new if feature is enabled - but this means I will have to test before I call a method on it which would be potentially dangerous and not very readable. Would having an auto_ptr to the object improve things: auto_ptr<Feature> feature; Or am I still paying the cost of object invokation even though the object may\or may not be required. BTW - I don't think this is premeature optimisation - I just want to consider the possibilites.

  • Why I do not see a static variable in a loop?

    - by Roman
    I have a static method which sets a variable: static String[] playersNames; public static void setParameters(String[] players) { playersNames = players; } Then I have a static block: static { JRadioButton option; ButtonGroup group = new ButtonGroup(); // Wright a short explanation of what the user should do. partnerSelectionPanel.add(new JLabel("Pleas select a partner:")); // Generate radio-buttons corresponding to the options available to the player. // Bellow is the problematic line causing the null pointer exception: for (String playerName: playersNames) { final String pn = playerName; option = new JRadioButton(playerName, false); option.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){ @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) { partner = pn; } }); partnerSelectionPanel.add(option); group.add(option); } partnerSelectionPanel.add(label); // Add the "Submit" button to the end of the "form". JButton submitButton = new JButton("Submit"); submitButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){ @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) { partnerSelected(); } }); partnerSelectionPanel.add(submitButton); } Compiler does not complain about anything but when I try to execute the code I get problems. In this place SelectPartnerGUI.setParameters(players); I have: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInitializerError. and it is cause by java.lang.NullpointerException at this place for (String playerName: playersNames). Does my program do not see the palyersNames?

I want to create a List<ObjectType> based on the incoming List object so that my calling code is talking to List<ObjectType>. What's the best way to convert the List (or any other object collection) to a List<ObjectType>.

  • How do I know whether an application support OLE2 and which methods & attributes are exposed?

    - by Esti
    I want to call an ActiveX DLL or OLE2 object from ABAP. I already know the syntax of how to instantiate the object & execute the methods: data: my_object type ole2_object. create object my_object <ole2object>. call method of my_object <objectmethod>. But given a particular application, how do I know if this is supported, what the values/names of ole2object and objectmethod is? Transaction SOLE supplies a table of OLE Applications, among this is Excel.Application which I know can be instantiated as an OLE object, so it looks like you have to add the OLE2 app to this table first, but once again where can I read the data like CLSID & LibType from - is it published as part of the application?

  • In a DDD approach, is this example modelled correctly?

    - by Tag
    Just created an acc on SO to ask this :) Assuming this simplified example: building a web application to manage projects... The application has the following requirements/rules. 1) Users should be able to create projects inserting the project name. 2) Project names cannot be empty. 3) Two projects can't have the same name. I'm using a 4-layered architecture (User Interface, Application, Domain, Infrastructure). On my Application Layer i have the following ProjectService.cs class: public class ProjectService { private IProjectRepository ProjectRepo { get; set; } public ProjectService(IProjectRepository projectRepo) { ProjectRepo = projectRepo; } public void CreateNewProject(string name) { IList<Project> projects = ProjectRepo.GetProjectsByName(name); if (projects.Count > 0) throw new Exception("Project name already exists."); Project project = new Project(name); ProjectRepo.InsertProject(project); } } On my Domain Layer, i have the Project.cs class and the IProjectRepository.cs interface: public class Project { public int ProjectID { get; private set; } public string Name { get; private set; } public Project(string name) { ValidateName(name); Name = name; } private void ValidateName(string name) { if (name == null || name.Equals(string.Empty)) { throw new Exception("Project name cannot be empty or null."); } } } public interface IProjectRepository { void InsertProject(Project project); IList<Project> GetProjectsByName(string projectName); } On my Infrastructure layer, i have the implementation of IProjectRepository which does the actual querying (the code is irrelevant). I don't like two things about this design: 1) I've read that the repository interfaces should be a part of the domain but the implementations should not. That makes no sense to me since i think the domain shouldn't call the repository methods (persistence ignorance), that should be a responsability of the services in the application layer. (Something tells me i'm terribly wrong.) 2) The process of creating a new project involves two validations (not null and not duplicate). In my design above, those two validations are scattered in two different places making it harder (imho) to see whats going on. So, my question is, from a DDD perspective, is this modelled correctly or would you do it in a different way?

  • C++ simple logging class with UTF-8 output [code example]

    - by Andrew
    Hello everyone, I was working on one of my academic projects and for the first time I needed pure C++ without GUI. After googling for a while, I did not find any simple and easy to use implementation for logging and created my own. This is a simple implementation with iostreams that logs messages to screen and to the file simultaneously. I was thinking of using templates but then I realized that I do not expect any changes and removed that. It is modified std::wostream with two added modifiers: 1. TimeStamp - prints time-stamp 2. • How do I dynamically reference incremented properties in C#?

    - by Jeff Blankenburg
    I have properties called reel1, reel2, reel3, and reel4. How can I dynamically reference these properties by just passing an integer (1-4) to my method? Specifically, I am looking for how to get an object reference without knowing the name of the object. In Javascript, I would do: temp = eval("reel" + tempInt); and temp would be equal to reel1, the object. Can't seem to figure this simple concept out in C#.

  • extend web server to serve static files

    - by Turtle
    Hello, I want to extend a web server which is only able to handle RPC handling now. The web server is written in C#. It provides a abstract handler function like following: public string owsHandler(string request, string path, string param, OSHttpRequest httpRequest, OSHttpResponse httpResponse) And I wrote following code to handle image files: Bitmap queryImg = new Bitmap(path); System.IO.MemoryStream stream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(); queryImg.Save(stream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp); queryImg.Dispose(); byte[] byteImage = stream.ToArray(); stream.Dispose(); return Convert.ToBase64String(byteImage); And I test it in the browser, the image is returned but the image dimension info is missed. Shall I add something more to the code? Or is any general way to server static files? I do not want to serve it in a ASP.net server. Thanks

  • How to implement an EventHandler to update controls

    - by Bill
    May I ask for help with the following? I am attempting to connect and control three pieces of household electronic equipment by computer through a GlobalCache GC-100 and iTach. As you will see in the following code, I created a class-instance of GlobalCacheAdapter that communicates with each piece of equipment. Although the code seems to work well in controlling the equipment, I am having trouble updating controls with the feedback from the equipment. The procedure "ReaderThreadProc" captures the feedback; however I don't know how to update the associated TextBox with the feedback. I believe that I need to create an EventHandler to notify the TextBox of the available update; however I am uncertain as to how an EventHandler like this would be implemented. Any help wold be greatly appreciated. using System; using System.IO; using System.Net; using System.Net.Sockets; using System.Threading; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { // Create three new instances of GlobalCacheAdaptor and connect. // GC-100 (Elan) 192.168.1.70 4998 // GC-100 (TuneSuite) 192.168.1.70 5000 // GC iTach (Lighting) 192.168.1.71 4999 private GlobalCacheAdaptor elanGlobalCacheAdaptor; private GlobalCacheAdaptor tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor; private GlobalCacheAdaptor lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); elanGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.70"), 4998); tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.70"), 5000); lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.71"), 4999); elanTextBox.Text = elanGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; tuneSuiteTextBox.Text = tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; lutronTextBox.Text = lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; } private void btnZoneOnOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,4,1,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,800" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnSourceInput1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,1,1,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,278,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,780" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnSystemOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,1,1,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,286,20,286,20,286,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,820" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnLightOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sdl,14,0,0,S2\x0d"); } private void btnLightOn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sdl,14,100,0,S2\x0d"); } private void btnChannel31_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("\xB8\x4D\xB5\x33\x31\x00\x30\x21\xB8\x0D"); } private void btnChannel30_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("\xB8\x4D\xB5\x33\x30\x00\x30\x21\xB8\x0D"); } } } public class GlobalCacheAdaptor { public Socket _multicastListener; public string _preferredDeviceID; public IPAddress _deviceAddress; public Socket _deviceSocket; public StreamWriter _deviceWriter; public bool _isConnected; public int _port; public IPAddress _address; public string _line; public GlobalCacheAdaptor() { } public static readonly GlobalCacheAdaptor Instance = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); public bool IsListening { get { return _multicastListener != null; } } public GlobalCacheAdaptor ConnectToDevice(IPAddress address, int port) { if (_deviceSocket != null) _deviceSocket.Close(); try { _port = port; _address = address; _deviceSocket = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp); _deviceSocket.Connect(new IPEndPoint(address, port)); ; _deviceAddress = address; var stream = new NetworkStream(_deviceSocket); var reader = new StreamReader(stream); var writer = new StreamWriter(stream) { NewLine = "\r", AutoFlush = true }; _deviceWriter = writer; writer.WriteLine("getdevices"); var readerThread = new Thread(ReaderThreadProc) { IsBackground = true }; readerThread.Start(reader); _isConnected = true; return Instance; } catch { DisconnectFromDevice(); MessageBox.Show("ConnectToDevice Error."); throw; } } public void SendMessage(string message) { try { var stream = new NetworkStream(_deviceSocket); var reader = new StreamReader(stream); var writer = new StreamWriter(stream) { NewLine = "\r", AutoFlush = true }; _deviceWriter = writer; writer.WriteLine(message); var readerThread = new Thread(ReaderThreadProc) { IsBackground = true }; readerThread.Start(reader); } catch { MessageBox.Show("SendMessage() Error."); } } public void DisconnectFromDevice() { if (_deviceSocket != null) { try { _deviceSocket.Close(); _isConnected = false; } catch { MessageBox.Show("DisconnectFromDevice Error."); } _deviceSocket = null; } _deviceWriter = null; _deviceAddress = null; } private void ReaderThreadProc(object state) { var reader = (StreamReader)state; try { while (true) { var line = reader.ReadLine(); if (line == null) break; _line = _line + line + Environment.NewLine; } // Need to create EventHandler to notify the TextBoxes to update with _line } catch { MessageBox.Show("ReaderThreadProc Error."); } } }

  • Prevent SQL Injection in Dynamic column names

    - by Mr Shoubs
    I can't get away without writing some dynamic sql conditions in a part of my system (using Postgres). My question is how best to avoid SQL Injection with the method I am currently using. EDIT (Reasoning): There are many of columns in a number of tables (a number which grows (only) and is maintained elsewhere). I need a method of allowing the user to decide which (predefined) column they want to query (and if necessary apply string functions to). The query itself is far too complex for the user to write themselves, nor do they have access to the db. There are 1000's of users with varying requirements and I need to remain as flexible as possible - I shouldn't have to revisit the code unless the main query needs to change - Also, there is no way of knowing what conditions the user will need to use. I have objects (received via web service) that generates a condition (the generation method is below - it isn't perfect yet) for some large sql queries. The _FieldName is user editable (parameter name was, but it didn't need to be) and I am worried it could be an attack vector. I put double quotes (see quoted identifier) around the field name in an attempt to sanitize the string, this way it can never be a key word. I could also look up the field name against a list of fields, but it would be difficult to maintain on a timely basis. Unfortunately the user must enter the condition criteria, I am sure there must be more I can add to the sanatize method? and does quoting the column name make it safe? (my limited testing seems to think so). an example built condition would be "AND upper(brandloaded.make) like 'O%' and upper(brandloaded.make) not like 'OTHERBRAND'" ... Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Public Function GetCondition() As String Dim sb As New Text.StringBuilder 'put quote around the table name in an attempt to prevent some sql injection 'http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.2/static/sql-syntax-lexical.html sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ""{1}"" ", _LogicOperator.ToString, _FieldName) Select Case _ConditionOperator Case ConditionOperatorOptions.Equals sb.Append(" = ") ... End Select sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ", Me.UniqueParameterName) 'for parameter Return Me.Sanitize(sb) End Function Private Function Sanitize(ByVal sb As Text.StringBuilder) As String 'compare against a similar blacklist mentioned here: http://forums.asp.net/t/1254125.aspx sb.Replace(";", "") sb.Replace("'", "") sb.Replace("\", "") sb.Replace(Chr(8), "") Return sb.ToString End Function Public ReadOnly Property UniqueParameterName() As String Get Return String.Concat(":" _UniqueIdentifier) End Get End Property
