  • Generate md5 and other checksums from properties menu (added "Digests" tab)

    I am trying to restore a function that I had on my last box. It added a tab in the properties menu of any file called "Digests". From there I could choose any/all of the hash formats, click hash and it would generate said checksums right there. What I am trying to find out is either the name of the package or acquire the location of it's installation. I have started a thread on UbuntuForums pertaining to this already

  • Where do I put my start up script for mysql?

    I have created a second instance of MySQL on the server for replication, if I start the process manually it works but need it to start at bootup. I used to just do a bash script in the init.d folder but apparently that no longer works on 11.10 Can anyone point me in the right direction? I even copied the mysql service, changed it and tried that but it refused to work. P.S It is the server edition so only Shell access.

  • Why wont SVN work on the Google Code Source? [closed]

    I installed SVN Toroise. I then proceeded to the desktop and right clicked and clicked on SVN checkout. I then entered under the URL of Repository "http://apple-crunch.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ apple-crunch-read-only" but after a few seconds the checkout fails saying that the URL doesn't exist. I got the command line from http://code.google.com/p/apple-crunch/source/checkout I'm trying to get a direct copy instead of browsing through the source.

  • Help with calculation to steer ship in 3d space

    I'm a beginner using XNA to try and make a 3D Asteroids game. I'm really close to having my space ship drive around as if it had thrusters for pitch and yaw. The problem is I can't quite figure out how to translate the rotations, for instance, when I pitch forward 45 degrees and then start to turn - in this case there should be rotation being applied to all three directions to get the "diagonal yaw" - right?   • Having trouble with pathfinding

    I'm trying to implement pathfinding in a game I'm programming using this method. I'm implementing it with recursion but some of the values after the immediate circle of tiles around the player are way off. For some reason I cannot find the problem with it. This is a screen cap of the problem: The pathfinding values are displayed in the center of every tile. Clipped blocks are displayed with the value of 'c' because the values were too high and were covering up the next value. The red circle is the first value that is incorrect.     Hi guys : Are there any established online sites for collaborative coding ? I have a github project with 5 developers, in different areas - we need somewhere that we can all "hangout" at. Right now we use group skype, but skype is designed more for family/social communication , and doesn't work on linux. IRC is okay, but its a little difficult to use for novices. an interface like yammer, twitter, facebook would be ideal, but also, we would want it to be real time (not requiring page reloads etc...)

  • Fixing USB drive auto-notify

    Yesterday I was copying files from SD cards, but at some point they stopped auto-mounting. Didn't notice any errors. I can still mount by right-clicking the appropriate file in /dev in Konqueror. UPDATE: Slight correction. The drives never automounted, but I've stopped getting the notification that a drive is plugged in. What processes should I be checking? Something in Device Actions? I'm using Kubuntu 10.04

  • Wordpress - Automatic email to admin on password change

    Noticed something interesting in WordPress...hopefully its just me not seeing the right option. Whenever a user requests a new password, it will notify the site admin that the password was changed. What I'd like to do is disable this feature, as for this specific site I really don't care if users are changing their password. Is this a setting somewhere that I'm missing, or does it require a plugin to disable this functionality?

  • Why is C++ used for game engines? How about its future in game engines?

    C++, as I have seen, is being heavily used in 3d video game engines.... Is it because of the performance issues, legecy code or libraries such as DriverX? If performance, libraries and code infrastructure are the reasons, dosen't that make C++ indispensible, at least for game engines? (ie, we have no other option even in the very distant future). I asked this because, I have the right to know the upcomming future trends in game engines.
