• How to minify JS in PHP easily...Or something else

  I've done some looking around, but I'm still confused a bit. I tried Crockford's JSMin, but Win XP can't unzip the executable file for some reason. What I really want though is a simple and easy-to-use JS minifier that uses PHP to minify JS code--and return the result. The reason why is because: I have 2 files (for example) that I'm working between: scripts.js and scripts_template.js scripts_template is normal code that I write out--then I have to minify it and paste the minified script into scripts.js--the one that I actually USE on my website. I want to eradicate the middle man by simply doing something like this on my page: <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts.php"></script> And then for the contents of scripts.php: <?php include("include.inc"); header("Content-type:text/javascript"); echo(minify_js(file_get_contents("scripts_template.js"))); This way, whenever I update my JS, I don't have to constantly go to a website to minify it and re-paste it into scripts.js--everything is automatically updated. Yes, I have also tried Crockford's PHP Minifier and I've taken a look at PHP Speedy, but I don't understand PHP classes just yet...Is there anything out there that a monkey could understand, maybe something with RegExp? How about we make this even simpler? I just want to remove tab spaces--I still want my code to be readable. It's not like the script makes my site lag epically, it's just anything is better than nothing. Tab removal, anyone? And if possible, how about removing completely BLANK lines?

• emacs: Inferior-mode python-shell appears "lagged"

  Hi all - I'm a Python(3.1.2)/emacs(23.2) newbie teaching myself tkinter using the pythonware tutorial found here. Relevant code is pasted below the question. Question: when I click the Hello button (which should call the say_hi function) why does the inferior python shell (i.e. the one I kicked off with C-c C-c) wait to execute the say_hi print function until I either a) click the Quit button or b) close the root widget down? When I try the same in IDLE, each click of the Hello button produces an immediate print in the IDLE python shell, even before I click Quit or close the root widget. Is there some quirk in the way emacs runs the Python shell (vs. IDLE) that causes this "lagged" behavior? I've noticed similar emacs lags vs. IDLE as I've worked through Project Euler problems, but this is the clearest example I've seen yet. FYI: I use python.el and have a relatively clean init.el... (setq python-python-command "d:/bin/python31/python") is the only line in my init.el. • Sending jpegs by tcp socket...sometimes incomplete.

  Vb.net Hi I've been working on a project for months now (vb 2008 express). There is one final problem which I can't solve. I need to send images to a client from a 'server'(listener). The code below works most of the time but sometimes the image is incomplete. I believe this might be something to do with the tcp packet sizes varying, maybe limited by how busy it is out there on the net. I have seen examples of code that splits the image into chunks and sends them out, but I can't get them to work maybe because I'm using a different vb version. The pictures to be sent are small 20k max. Any working code examples would be wonderful. I have been experimenting and failing with this final hurdle for weeks. Thanks in anticipation. • DRUPAL, CKEditor: I cannot add a html tag with Javascript

  hi, I've implemented a Drupal website. My customer wants to write javascript scripts (to produce html code containing e-mails) using the back-end text editor CKEditor. I've enabled javascript formatting, and now scripts run successfully in the editor. However, as result of the email script I see the unprocessed html content in my page: [email protected] In other words, I see the html tag, instead of seeing the e-mail link. I guess this is due to the parenthesis formatting. If I replace "<" with "<" in Firebug, the html is processed and the links works. However I'm not able to do this from the editor. If I type "<" or "<" the result is the same... • Flash Without a SWF File?

  Is there any way to embed Flash completely in HTML, without reference to an external SWF file? I ask because I would like to send an HTML file as an email attachment that the recipient will open in a browser and fill out as a form. The last step is that they will copy the result to their clipboard, paste it into a new message, and email it back. I cannot reliably copy to the clipboard with JavaScript because of the security issues, but there are simple Flash apps to add that capability. I know I could just display the response text (which will be Base64 encoded) to the recipient and have them copy/paste, but it would be nice to provide this small convenience to them. Also, so you are aware, the text is often too large to include in an email using mailto. Yes. This needs to be done via email. The users have slow, occasional satellite email access and no other data connection to the interwebs. To make things worse, I cannot make them install anything. It is a difficult situation.

• How can I access mainframe data with .Net applications and SQL Queries?

  We have a large amount of data stored on an IBM mainframe using VSAM files. A lot of this data is dropped on the network every night in the form of text files to be processed and dumped into FoxPro and SQL Server databases. There are also many text files produced nightly by custom applications that get uploaded to the mainframe to keep everything in sync. Keeping the everything in sync is very tricky, to say the least. We are not getting rid of the mainframe any time soon and we would like to replace all the nightly batch processing with real time access to the mainframe data. We would like to be able to: Read data directly from the mainframe and produce reports based on it. Possibly using SQL queries. Read and Write data from custom .Net applications. We are not looking for a new platform to interface with the mainframe like Information Builders offers. We don't want to build application modules or reports with new "Business Intelligence" tools. We already know how to generate reports and write custom applications using SQL,.Net, Visual Studio, etc. All we are looking for is some sort of adapter to connect to our mainframe data. Any ideas are appreciated.

This works well and any changes of MyProp are reflected to the gridview. If I add another column that is bound to the object itself I dont get any notifications/updates. • Mac vs. Windows Browser Font Height Rendering Issue

  I'm using a custom font and the @font-face tag. In Windows, everything looks great, regardless of whether it's Firefox, Chrome, or IE. On Mac, it's a different story. For some reason, the Mac font renderer thinks the font is a lot shorter than it is.   I'm creating a usercontrol that will have a series of LinkButtons. I've declared all of my link buttons at the top of my class LinkButton LB1 = new LinkButton(); LinkButton LB2 = new LinkButton(); //... LinkButton LB9 = new LinkButton(); now I'd like to be able to create a loop to access all of those link buttons so I don't have to write them all out every time. I tried something like this within my overridden CreateChildControls() method: for (int i = 1; i < 10; i++) { LinkButton lb = (LinkButton)FindControl("LB" + i.ToString()); lb.Text = i.ToString() + "-Button"; } I keep getting an exception saying that lb.Text... is not set to an instance of an object. I also tried giving all of my LB1, LB2 etc valid Ids. ie: LB1.ID = "LB1"; still not dice. how can I do this?

• Image Grabbing with False Referer

  Hey guys, I'm struggling with grabbing an image at the moment... sounds silly, but check out this link :P http://manga.justcarl.co.uk/A/Oishii_Kankei/31/1 If you get the image URL, the image loads. Go back, it looks like it's working fine, but that's just the browser loading up the cached image. The application was working fine before, I'm thinking they implemented some kind of Referer check on their images. So I found some code and came up with the following... $ref = 'http://www.thesite.com/'; $file = 'theimage.jpg'; $hdrs = array( 'http' = array( 'method' = "GET", 'header'= "accept-language: en\r\n" .   Hi, I've got a text file, with about 200,000 lines. Each line represents an object with multiple properties. I only search through one of the properties (the unique ID) of the objects. If the unique ID I'm looking for is the same as the current object's unique ID, I'm gonna read the rest of the object's values. Right now, each time I search for an object, I just read the whole text file line by line, create an object for each line and see if it's the object I'm looking for - which is basically the most inefficient way to do the search. I would like to read all those objects into memory, so I can later search through them more efficiently. The question is, what's the most efficient way to perform such a search? Is a 200,000-entries NSArray a good way to do this (I doubt it)? How about an NSSet? With an NSSet, is it possible to only search for one property of the objects? Thanks for any help! -- Ry

  Hey I have a script that is creating and echoing a JSON encoded array of magento products. I have a script that calls this script using jQuery's ajax function but I'm not getting a proper response. I'm using firebug. I can see there has been a JSON encoded response but the response tab is emtyp and my select boxes have no options. Can anyone see and problems with my code?   Does anyone know how I can get Axis2 to use a non-coalescing XMLStreamReader when it parses a SOAP message? I am writing code that reads a large base64 binary text element. Coalescing is the default behaviour, and this causes the default XMLStreamReader to load the entire text into memory rather than returning multiple CHARACTERS events. • How do I create a python module from a fortran program with f2py?

  I am trying to read some smps files with python, and found a fortran implementation, so I thought I would give f2py a shot. The problem is that I have no experience with fortran. I have successfully installed gfortran and f2py on my Linux box and ran the example on thew f2py page, but I have some trouble compiling and running the large program. There are two files, one with a file reader wrapper and one with all the logic. They seem to call each other, but when I compile and link or try f2py, I get errors that they somehow can't find each other: f95 -c FILEWR~1.F f95 -c SMPSREAD.F90 f95 -o smpsread SMPSREAD.o FILEWR~1.o FILEWR~1.o In function `file_wrapper_' FILEWR~1.F(.text+0x3d) undefined reference to `chopen_' usrlibgcci486-linux-gnu4.4.1libgfortranbegin.a(fmain.o) In function `main' (.text+0x27) undefined reference to `MAIN__' collect2 ld returned 1 exit status I also tried changing the name to FILE_WRAPPER.F but that did not help. With f2py I found out I had to include a comment to get it to accept free format, and saved this as a new file and tried: f2py -c -m smpsread smpsread.f90 I get a lot of output and warnings, but the error seems to be this one: getctype: No C-type found in "{'typespec': 'type', 'attrspec': ['allocatable'], 'typename': 'node', 'dimension': [':']}", assuming void. The fortran 90 spms reader can be found here. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

• jQuery Accordion + OL + IE6 bug

Each accordion panel has an UL (an OL works the same) with this markup: <ol> <li><a href="">Lorep ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor</a>?</li> <li><a href="">Lorep ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor lorem ipsum dolor</a>?</li> </ol> In IE6, you'll see that the <a> tag appears to be getting rendered as a block element, so the question mark ends up being pushed outside and not at the end of the line of text. In addition, the bullet and/or list item number is now bottom-aligned with the text rather than top-aligned. I've narrowed it down to the javascript that executes to make the accordion. It's not an issue with jQuery's CSS as disabling that, alone, doesn't resolve the issue. Anyone know what might be going on in IE6 to cause this rendering issue? UPDATE: Apparently, this is also an IE7 issue.

• Selective JQuery validation

  Hi, I'm using JQuery Validation to validate a particular textbox in my form. The textbox is an optional website section, which uses the url validation method. This works fine and validates accordingly. I would like to have http:// preset into the textbox, to save the user having to type it. However, when the text is set, the validator becomes 'active', and prevents anything on the form being submitted until either the http:// is manually removed, or a valid website is entered. Is there a way of preseting text into the textbox, which won't cause the validator to start validating? I tried to use $("[id$='tbWebsite']").val("http://"); just before I call form.validate(), but it doesn't work (i.e. it still gets checked). I've never used JQuery Validator before, so hopefully there's a fix for this that I'm missing! An alternate solution for my case in particular, could be to activate the validator if a certain button is pressed (instead of any button on the form). Would that be possible? Thanks

• Three20 TTSectionedDataSource row height

  Hey there, I'm using Three20 to create a table with several textfields for user registration. I've found two possible methods using Three20. The first uses the TTSectionedDataSource's tableDidLoadModel method to manually add UI components and the second adds custom items that contains pre formatted UI components. The second option seems way more complex and I'm having a difficult time accessing the individual fields. So if one field is a textfield for the username, I need to access the field to submit the username and it doesn't seem like there's an easy answer. The first option gives me a lot of flexibility, but I can't figure out how to set the individual row heights. One row may have a label above a text field, another may have an image, etc. Is there a method that can be used in TTSectionedDataSource that will allow me to set the height for each row? Thus far, I'm using method one and creating UIViews to hold a label field and a text field. I've tried changing the frame of the uiview before it is added to the items array, but it has no affect. Any ideas?
