Hi everybody! I'm developing a medium Java app, and i'm facing a small problem due to my lack of expirience. I've a custom DAO, which gets "Article" objects from the DataBase. I've the Article class, and the DAO has a method called getArticle(int id), this method returns an Article. The Article has a Category object, and i'm using lazy loading. So, when i request for an Article Category (Article a = new Article(); a.getCategory();) the Article class gets the Category from the DAO and then returns it. I'm now thinking to cache it, so when i request multiple times to an Article's category, the database is only queried one time. My question is: where should i put that cache? I can put it on the Article class (in the DTO), or i can put it on the DAO class. What do you say? Thanks!

Visual Studio - easy way to bring up type definition as source code

Oftentimes I want to bring up a system class in a source view, so that I can browse the properties and methods exposed by the class in a source view. Below is the screenshot of what I mean: Usually I do this by selecting the class name and pressing F12 (or right clickGo To Definition). However, if I haven't got it anywhere ready, i have type it up and then do Go To Definition. Most of the time I have to delete what I typed later on. Is there a way to bring up this view without having to type the class name? The VS2010 Navigate To dialog doesn't support this.

How do I get started writing a .Net-wrapper around C++ Omniorb-stubs

Hello there, my job is to access a CPRBA-server-application from .NET 3.5. After evaluating projets like IIOP.Net (undefined state) and products like VisiBroker (expensive) I'd like to do it "by myself" and write a .Net-Wrapper around C++-Stubs generated my Omniidl (the Omniorb IDL to C++ generator). This means writing some kind of layer of managed code (CLI) around the unmanaged C++ code. My question is: Has anyone experience in this topic? I honestly don't know how to do it the best way. Right now I plan to create a managed class for every unmanaged class, each managed class itself has a member to an instance of the unmanaged class, which is not garbage-collected. Is this the right way to do it or am I on the wrong path? Thanks in advance!

Is there a possibility to create any python object that will be not sortable? So that will be an exception when trying to sort a list of that objects? I created a very simple class, didn't define any comparison methods, but still instances of this class are comparable and thus sortable. Maybe, my class inherits comparison methods from somewhere. But I don't want this behaviour.

Need to know how to properly create a new object in another cpp file

I have a class. The problem now is, after a few attempt, I'm still in huge error. My problem is I don't know how to properly declare a new object for this class, inside another cpp file. I wanted to call/trigger the functions from this RebarHandler class from my other cpp file. I keep on getting problems like, 'used without being initialized', 'debug assertion failed' and so on. In the other cpp file, I include the RebarHandler.h and did like this: CRebarHandler *test=NULL; test->setButtonMenu2(); When compile, I does not give any error. But, when run time, it gives error and my IE crash. I need help. Random <hr/> that I don't know how to get rid of!

There is no extra <hr/> on the page, and I cannot figure out why it is there. Do you see anything that is causing it? I am sorry for posting the whole thing, I do not know exactly where it starts. How to accomplish covariant return types when returning a shared_ptr?

What's the commonly accepted idiom to work around this, if there is one?

Recursive problem...

Guys, I'm new to java and multithreading..... and I have a following problem: I have two classes running in two different threads. Class A and Class B. Class A has the method "onNewEvent()". Once that method is invoked, it will ask class B to do some work. As soon as B finishes the work it invokes onJobDone() method of the class A. Now... here comes the problem... what I want is to create new job within onJobDone() method and to send it again to B. here is what I do (pseudo code) ... in the sequence of execution A.onNewEvent(){ //create job //ask B to do it B.do() } B.do{ // Do some stuff A.jobDone() } A.onJobDOne(){ B.do() //doItAgain // print message "Thank you for doing it" } The problem is... that message "Thank you for doing it" never gets printed... in fact, when onJobDone() method is invoked, it invokes B.do()... because B.do() is very fast, it invokes onJobDone() immediatly... so execution flow never comes to PRINT MESSAGE part of code... I suppose this is one of the nasty multithreading problems.... any help would be appreciated.

How can I make my tableview enter editing mode?

Hi, for some reason I can't get my tableview to enter editing mode. It's a little harder than it might seem because I'm using some open source code to make a calendar (iCal esque) with a tableview under it, and it's not quite as straightforward as just using a regular tableview. Basically, I have two classes. One (let's say Class A) is a UIViewController and the other (Class B) is that viewController's datasource and tableview delegate. In Class B, I've implemented -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; which works fine, but if I put an edit nav bar item in Class A (the view controller), nothing happens. Am I forgetting certain protocols, or certain special methods that I need to write? Thanks for any help, and apologies if I'm missing something, I'm just learning to work with other people's code.

Hello, In my program, I have a class A which is extended by B, C and many more classes. I have a method GetInstance() which returns a instance of B or C (or of one of the other child), but I don't know which one, so the return type of the method is A. In the method CreateGenericList(), I have a variable v of type A, which is in fact either a B, a C or another child type and I want to create a generic list of the proper type, i.e. List<B> if v is a B or List<C> if v is a C, ... Currently I do it by using reflection, which works, but this is extremely slow. I wanted to know if there is another way to to it, which doesn't use reflection. Here is an example of the code of my problem: class A { } class B : A { } class C : A { } // More childs of A. class Program { static A GetInstance() { // returns an instance of B or C } static void CreateGenericList() { A v = Program.GetInstance(); IList genericList = // Here I want an instance of List<B> or List<C> or ... depending of the real type of v, not a List<A>. } } I tried the following hack. I call the following method, hoping the type inferencer will guess the type of model, but it doesn't work and return a List<A>. Code is exectuting but the view is not loading when called form a function?

I have a viewBased application with the viewController class mainView. In it I am loading various views(different nibs) depending upon certain actions that I do. I have added a popoverController with a barbutton in the mainView. Its intialized with a tableviewController class named popClass. When I select certain row in the popover, I want the view in my mainView to load someother view(as I do when i do certain actions). For that I have written a function in mainView Controller class and is calling it from the popOver class. Function and the lines of code are executing but nothing is happening. Even the log lines are printed but no action takes place. What is the problem? OR is there anyother way to make the view change in mainView by using the popover?
