  • Should I move from Java programming to Delphi programming?

    over the years i have been employed in a permanent position with firms that did their development work in Windows SDK, VC++, and most recently Java; in my own eyes, I am language independent. Should I move from Java to Delphi (assuming pay-scale remains unchanged)? I'm concerned because, for the most part, the net presents a relatively bleak picture for this particular skill.

    I have an issue creating a new android project using the eclipse wizard, everything worked fine by yesterday. had a few project working. Now, when i press "Finish" on the final step of the wizard it remain open and an empty project with white-marked packages is added to the work branch, I tried to reinstall eclipse and it's sdk+plug, still nothing.     This is a simple question about getting started with developing Android apps using Eclipse. I have followed all the tutorials on the developer site for installing Eclipse, the SDK and the ADT plugin. When trying to run a simple Hello World program, everything seems to compile correctly, but then the virtual machine comes up empty. In the Console Window it reads: The program then just sits and my text never comes up. Any idea with what the problem could be?

    Hi, I am playing with the Demo SoftKeyboard the comes with the Android SDK. In portrait mode when the candidate view is shown, it doesn't move the app up as the default android keyboard does. Hence it covers part of the application view. What should be changed in order to make the candidate view in the demo softkeyboard behave as the default android keyboard does? I've also looked at the source of the android keyboard from git but found nothing related to this behavior.

    I'm testing some Java code that uses an android Bundle, and am getting a runtime exception whenever I create a Bundle in the unit test. The error I'm getting is java.lang.runtimeException at android.os.Bundle when I create the Bundle. It is running with the android SDK in the run configuration. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks!

  • Is there a way to opt-out from WP8 when submiting an Windows Phone app?

    I have a Windows Phone app build using the 7.1 SDK that works great on WP7 but does not work at all on WP8 (I am using multicast using UDP and WP8 can join the group but send/receives no message for some reason, other people having the same problem: UDP multicast group on Windows Phone 8). Is there a way to opt-out from WP8 when I submit my app? I just want the app to be available t WP7 users. I am looking for something like the 256MB opt-out option.

    The API defined in the ADL SDK manual reads: int ADL_Display_ConnectedDisplays_Get(int iAdapterIndex, int* lpConnections) They say that lpConnections is the pointer to the bit field indicating whether the output connectors on the specified adapter have devices physically attached to them. This information is exactly what I want but nowhere in the documentation I could find any data on what the various bits in the lpConnections obtained might mean. I also tried going through the header files but found nothing relevant on this. I know this is very specific to but can anyone here answer?

    Hello, i need to build the same source tree twice, 1 - with normal cflags to build the project binary 2 - with cflags plus -fPIC to build a static library that would be some sort of SDK to develop project dynamic modules. Using only one Makefile, what is the best approach to accomplish this? It would be nice to do some sort of : all: $(OBJECTS) lib_rule: $(OBJECTS) CFLAGS += -fPIC .cpp.o: $(CC) -c $< -o $@ $(CFLAGS) But obviously it can't be done. Thanks

    While playing mp3 by mediaplyer and showing the progress with seek bar, the problem is that mp3playing sound is delayed when mediaplyer and seekbar working at the same time. I used thread, handler, timer for solving that problem on seekbar.setProgress(mediaplayer.getCurrentPosition()). what do I do?? sdk can take more playbuffer for mp3player..?? or I should focus on optimizing code than before..??

I'm looking for methods that don't require additional hardware. The application involves waiting for approximately 50 microseconds +/- 1 microsecond while some external hardware collects data.     I am producing a number of PDFs using either SSRS or using an HTML to PDF component. What I want to do for each document is to set the first page to print to tray 1 and subsequent pages. Is there anyway to do this? System.Drawing.Printing and System.Printing seem like good candidates but they don't seem to be useful for PDFs (i may be wrong). The Adobe sdk doesn't at first glance seem to have that level of granularity either.
