• How to control fan speed and temperatures on Asus A8Js laptop?

  I have tried installing asusfan and lm-sensors but I'm unable to control my fans to cool my laptop down sufficiently. Unique content identifier 'desid' used to identify that its a main topic or a comment. 'desid' starts with 'a' for Main Topic and for comment 'desid' starts with 'b'. For comment 'replyto' is the 'desid' of main topic to which this comment is associated. I like to find out the list of the top main topics that are arranged on the basis of (upvote+downvote+visits+number of comments to it) addition. The following query gives top topics list in order of (upvote+downvote+visits) select * with highest number of upvote+downvote+views by query "select * from [DB_user1212].[dbo].[discussions] where desid like 'a%' order by (upvote+downvote+visited) desc For (comments+upvote+downvote+views ) I tried select * from [DB_user1212].[dbo].[discussions] where desid like 'a%' order by ((select count(*) from [DB_user1212].[dbo].[discussions] where replyto = desid )+upvote+downvote+visited) desc but it didn't work because its not possible to send desid from outer query to inner subquery. How to solve this? Please note that I want solution in query language only.

• How to connect to the internet reliably

  I have a DSL internet connection. For a long time the internet functioned fine in Ubuntu using the default Network Manager. Recently however, my ISP was bought by another ISP, and the service name had to be changed in the DSL settings. In Windows, it connects without any issue whatsoever. But in Ubuntu, the first time I connect I get a "Apache: Not Found" page, the next time, I get to the previous ISP's login page, it continues like this for some time until I get it working. I have to try connecting it again and again. When I asked the customer service, they said that because of the takeover, they have switched servers. But they said, it should work properly in Windows, and they were clueless about Ubuntu. Is there anything I can do to solve this issue?

• Best way to create an exact twitter clone? From scratch vs CMS vs any other way [closed]

  I tried many already built Twitter clone scripts but none was having user-end functionality exactly as twitter. I know enough PHP to code all the twitter's features myself. But is there a faster way than coding myself? I've never used a CMS but if I do then won't I have to search a plugin for every twitter feature, like support for multiple users, options for following-unfollowing users, retweeting (reposting someone else's post), tagging? And I'm afraid that there might be some licensing issues with CMS.

• Facebook and a stateless server

  I am making a Facebook application, I want to have a stateless server.The Facebook connect requests are from the server side. So when Facebook gives me a session which has to be maintained at the server this way my server won't be stateless. When I'll load balance I can't have a simple load balancer instead it would need to know which users are on which server, something I don't want. Any Ideas?

I want to know how it works and and what are its requirements (which package of which programming language offers the best). And please clarify me: Websites are stored in servers. From my desktop, if I want to broadcast some video, then I need to connect to webserver (to upstream the video). Is there an application to do that (or do I have to code that or embed in my web application and which programming language would be suitable (does Python support that))?   I am trying to use your modified lighttpd server-status. server-status mod is enabled and running, I am geting lighttpd status but I can not use yours becouse I can not use port 80 again ($SERVER["socket"] == "192.168......:80" { status.status-url = "/server-status" server.document-root = "/var/www/status" mimetype.assign = ( ".html" = "text/html" ) index-file.names = ( "pretty-status.html" ) } this gives me an error on lighty restart saying port (= already in use. • Rendering citations and references in HTML using PHP/Perl/Python/

  Is there a PHP/Perl/Python/... library for picking citations out of an HTML file and rendering a nice list of references at the bottom, like in Wikipedia? I'm developing a website with heavily-sourced content, and I'd really like to have automatically-generated lists of formatted references, like in Wikipedia. (Check out their philosophy page, and see how the superscript numbered citations interact with the references at the bottom. This is all dynamically generated, automatically ordered & linked.) They do it really well: the citations are linked to the references (which are backlinked to the citations), when you click on one of the links, the target is highlighted, etc. I'm tempted to build the site on MediaWiki just for this one feature, but it seems like overkill. Do I have any options?

• What to use for "localhost" that includes PHP/SQL functionality?

  I really do not want to install Linux at the moment, I would have to borrow a USB key, move files, format it, flash it, format it again, move files back, give it back... What would you recommend that is lightweight, easily and cleanly uninstallable afterwards (will install Linux when I get a new DVD-ROM, which will be in ~2 weeks), that also supports PHP and SQL? To be precise, I want to install a Wordpress blog, a few plugins, etc, and develop a theme. If there is no such thing for Windows (7, x64 if that matters), let me know too, I will borrow the USB key then (even though it's a pain).

The comment went something like, "wow, due to the explosive response to this issue, we're going to deal with it right away."   Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? What is the best mediawiki hosting provider? I want to be able to have a fairly simple, reliable wiki attached to a site's subdomain (wiki.mysite.com). I'd prefer it as a service, updates handled for me, I don't want to see any code! I imagine I'll change my dns to point to the provider and pay a few bucks a month. Nice and simple. There seem to be a few providers who offer this, what have you had success with?

• TFS SQL Deployment Data Script

  We are using TFS and SQL 2005 (looking to upgrade to SQL 2012 if that makes a difference). We store our database schema in a Visual Studio Database project (VS 2010). When code is released to live we currently use the Visual Studio Database Project to build a script for all our schema changes. The problem we have been getting is having to alter or add to that script to add/fix data for the deployment. For example if we add a new non-nullable column to an existing table we need to populate that column with data during the insert. Other times we may want to create new records in transactional tables (e.g. assign specific users to a new security access). Do Visual Studio Database Projects have a way to store these scripts that only need to be run once and somehow include them in the build? Does it know which scripts need to be run (for example if we are inserting default data we don't want to do that again a second time)? OR Is there a better way to manage these scripts?

• SteamCMD can't add files to my home directory

  I'm trying to clean up the administration of some game servers I run on a Ubuntu box, part of which has been finally setting permissions properly so I can run the Steam console tool that controls updates and such. I had been running it as root using sudo, but I changed the permissions so that I can start it as a regular user rather than root. That bit seems to work fine, but now when SteamCMD actually starts, it errors with the following output ./steam.sh: line 24: /home/angleosaxon/.steampid: Permission denied Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1334262703) SteamUpdater: Error: Couldn't create directory /home/angleosaxon/Steam/package, got error 13 [ 0%] Download complete. [----] Verifying installation... unlinked 0 orphaned pipes [----] !!! Fatal Error: Steam failed to load: *SteamStartEngine(0xbfa7cfa0) failed with error 1: Failed to open logfile /home/angleosaxon/Steam/steam.log Leaving aside the question of why it wants to add this information to my home directory, why is it getting access denied errors? As I understand it, since it's being run by my account, it operates with my permissions, so it should be able to read/write from my home directory, shouldn't it?
