• How do I share a WiX fragment in two WiX projects?

  We have a WiX fragment in a file SomeDialog.wxs that prompts the user for some information. It's referenced in another fragment in InstallerUI.wxs file that controls the dialog order. Of course, Product.wxs is our main file. Works great. Now I have a second Visual Studio 2008 Wix 3.0 Project for the .MSI of another application and it needs to ask the user for the same information. I can't seem to figure out the best way to share the file so that changing the information requested will result in both .MSIs getting the new behavior. I honestly can't tell if a merge module, an .wsi (include) or a .wixlib is the right solution. I would have hoped to find a simple example of someone doing this but I have failed thus far. Edit: Based on Rob Mensching's wixlib blog entry, a wixlib may be the answer, but I am still searching for an example of how to do this.

• encfs error while decoding the data

  I have installed encfs and started using it to secure all my personal & office data and it was working absolutely fine until 2 hours back. The setup is like this. I have a folder in Copy folder called OfficeData which gets synchronized with my Copy folder When I login into the system I use the command encfs ~/Copy/OfficeData ~/Documents/OfficeData Once my work is over I dismount with the command fusermount -u ~/Documents/OfficeData All this data get synchronized with my desktop and with my mobile phone (as a backup) Today when I mounted, the folder got mounted by no directories and files present in that folder. I was worried and read man encfs which gave me to run the command encfs -v -f ~/Copy/OfficeData ~/Documents/OfficeData 2> encfs-OfficeData-report.txt. • Handling redirected URL within Flex app?

  We have a Flex client and a server that is using the Spring/Blazeds project. After the user logs in and is authenticated, the spring security layer sends a redirect to a new URL which is where our main application is located. However, within the flex client, I'm currently using HTTPService for the initial request and I get the redirected page sent back to me in its entirety. How can I just get the URL so that I can use navigatetourl to get where the app to go where it needs to? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

These modes allows to call methods with known signature. We talk of strongly typed language. This allows to to make some checks directly at compile time. On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?

I have worked through the White Paper written by Bob Swart and extended this further. When I compile with g++ -g -o -c a.out -I /Applications/boost_1_42_0/ Host.cpp Simulation.cpp rng.cpp main.cpp Rdraws.cpp I get Simulation.h:33: error: expected initializer before '<' token Simulation.h:102: error: 'HostContainer' does not name a type and then a bunch of other errors related to not recognizing the HostContainer. It seems like I have all the right Boost #includes for the HostContainer to be understood. What else could be going wrong? I would appreciate immediate suggestions, troubleshooting tips, and other advice about my code. My plan is to create a "HostContainer.h" file that includes the typedef and structs that define its tags, similar to what I'm doing in "Event.h" for the EventPQ container. I'm assuming this is legal and good form.

• How to detect changes to Address Book after ABPersonViewController presentation

  I have two view controllers that allow changes to the Address Book. The first one lets you add or create an entry based on an ABRedordRef or edit an existing ABRecordRef, by presentation of either ABUnknownPersonViewController or ABPersonViewController. The second one is a standard ABPeoplePickerNavigationController that allows you to view/edit any of the contents of the Address Book. Both views are accessible easily accessible to the use via the main application UITabBarController. How can I determine that changes were made by either view controller, so that I can force data dependency changes to a third separate view controller. I thought that I saw a notification center message that I could subscribe to, but I can't seem to find it again... I don't care if the notification center is the method that should be used, or a delegate protocol or... whatever, I don't care, I just need to know how to detect the change or the need to re-sync with the Address Book. Can someone Please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

• Loading WPF satellite resources dynamically

  Hello! I've read about satellite-assemblies being used in WPF localizations. However, I would like to ask if there is a way to load the satellite-assemblies without following the pre-defined directory structure that depends on the language (ex. If the system language is English, the WPF application looks for the satellite-assembly inside the "en-US" subfolder). This is because I would like to simply swap the satellite-assemblies when distributing the software package without having to create a specific folder per language that would hold the assemblies. I would just like to have the satellite-assembly and the main executable in the same directory. Is this possible and is there even an easy way to do this like simply loading the resource file on application startup once? Thanks!

  Hello, I am using sphinx as a search engine on my website its working perfect and I have no complain with it. The only thing it lacks is, it does not allow me to search articles whose query length is more than 15 words. I know in reality people don't use more than 3-4 words i want to use it for finding duplicate contents. I was wondering if there is any alternative solution to sphinx. I want to cope with duplicate contents. My main articles table is in innodb but I am also caching articles into MyISAM table as well for full text searching but when I search an article it takes ages to perform one search. Its not the query problem, i think mysql lacks the fulltext searching facility. Thanks Jason

• Ruby Irb reacts strangely to control keys

  Hi. I'm (extremely) new to Ruby, having started today. I just moved from my system's Ruby 1.8 installation to Ruby 1.9, compiled from source. In doing so, irb has taken a turn for the worse. It reacts in a most unfriendly way to the non-alphanumeric control keys: UP key prints: ^[[A DOWN key prints: ^[[B DELETE key prints: ^[[3~ ...and so on. The main result of this for me is that I have no access to previously issued commands. Nor does tab-completion work; though none of this seems to be an issue with Wirble - the same happens when I remove my ~/.irbrc. I'm using: Ubuntu 9.10 GNOME Terminal 2.28.1 ruby 1.9.1p376 (2009-12-07 revision 26041) [i686-linux] Irb version 0.9.5 (05/04/13) Any ideas? :(

• Bug Running Android Tutorial HelloTabWidget under SDK 1.5: "setCurrentTag(getIntent())"

  does not compile. Indeed: even in 1.5, this api, getIntent(), is already listed as deprecated. The error message I get complains that getIntent() does not return a String, but setCurrentTab() expects a string. If I guess and change the line to read: "tabHost.setCurrentTab(1); // was setCurrentTab(getIntent())", then it compiles, builds, but does not run. I get the "stopped unexpectedly" error message from the emulator. I cannot even get Log.d to output, so it seems that it stops 'unexpectedly' very early. So the first and main question is: what is the correct fix to "tabHost.setCurrentTab(getIntent())" in the final line of OnCreate() in http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html? The second and simpler question is: did I guess right in replacing 'mTabHost' with tabHost in the one place where that occurs?

• Remove redundant CSS rules

  I have several CSS files all being used in a large application; most are legacy, with one "main" css file that is the most current. This setup came about after a rebranding, and instead of redoing all of the CSS, we simply added a new CSS file that would override the rules from the legacy files. So now, I'd like to distill all of this CSS (1000's of lines) into 1 file. NOTE: I don't want to simply combine the files (as in copy/pasting them all into 1 file); I need an application to semi-intelligently look at the rules, reduce them down to only the effective rules (after inheritance), but I can't find anything like that. Example; given: /* legacy.css */ .foo { color: red; margin: 5px; } ..and: /* current.css */ .foo { margin: 10px; } I need a tool to output: /* result.css */ .foo { color: red; margin: 10px; } Does such an application exist?

• How to use WSDL2Java generated files?

  I generated the .java files using wsdl2java found in axis2-1.5. Now it generated the files in this folder structure: src/net/mycompany/www/services/ The files in the services folder are: SessionIntegrationStub and SessionIntegrationCallbackHandler. I would like to consume the webservice now. I added the net folder to the CLASSPATH environment variable. My java file now imports the webservice using: import net.mycompany.www.services; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { SessionIntegrationStub stub = new SessionIntegrationStub(); System.out.println(stub.getSessionIntegration("test")); } } Now when I try to compile this using: javac test.java I get: package net.mycompany.www does not exist. Sometime happens I develop other projects (even more stimulant of my main job). Some more money cannot hurts! The problem is that my free time has decreased a lot, leading me to develop until late evening. I usually program each day (I like to develop my own projects, even if only a few lines at a time). But it is one thing to plan for my pleasure, it is one thing to plan for business. So, my question is how to balance free time with these additional jobs? What experiences do you have? How much you can develop for long time (in a medium interval, say, weeks)? Every thought is welcome!

• Elasticsearch Shard stuck in INITIALIZING state

  I stopped one of my elastic search node & as a normal behavior elastic search started relocating my shard on that node to another node. But even after 15 hours it is still stuck in INITIALIZING state. Also that shard is fluctuating between two nodes,for some time it stays on one node then automatically shift to another node & keep on doing that after every few hours. Main issue is it is still in INITIALIZING state after so many hours. I am using version 1.2.1. This shard which is stuck, it is a replica. • Covering Earth with Hexagonal Map Tiles

  Many strategy games use hexagonal tiles. One of the main advantages is that the distance between the center of any tile and all its neighboring tiles is the same. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on marrying a hexagonal tile system with the traditional geographic system (longitude/latitude). I think it would be interesting to cover a globe with hexagonal tiles and be able to map a geographic coordinate to a tile. Has anyone seen anything remotely close to this before? UPDATE I'm looking for a way to subdivide the surface of a sphere so that each division has the same surface area. Ideally, the centers of adjacent sub-divisions would be equidistant.

• passing json from servlet to dojo

  I am currently trying to pass a generated JSON string to dojo for parsing and am having some issues. The servlet simply writes it as a string as so: response.getWriter().append("{ \"data\": {"); response.getWriter().append("\"type\": \"facing\","); response.getWriter().append("\"score\": " + "\"" + score + "\","); response.getWriter().append("\"count\":" + "\"" + count + "\"" ); response.getWriter().append("}}"); which prints as: {"data":{"type":"facing","score":"10","count":"24"}} And the parsing on the dojo end looks as so: dojo.xhrPost({ url: url, handleAs: "json", load: function(data) { alert(data); /* Parse Not working */ alert(data.data[0].type); }, error: function(error) { alert("No dice") } }); The main issue is the data.data[0].type is returning nothing but when i print this out as text the json seems to be correctly formatted. Any help with this would be appreciated.

  This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory.
