  • What's the difference between <% and <%:

    - by Blub
Hi, I couldn't find anything through Google, I suppose the search terms are too much to handle. The VS built-in help only explains <%, which is just embedded code. There is no mention of <%: EDIT: My book says, that the only difference is that <%: returns a MvcHtmlString. Why do we need an extra symbol for <%: just to return something? Thanks for any help! It would really help me to understand asp.net.

I have a tablelayoutpanel. 2x2 - 2 columns 2 rows. For example, I added a button button1 in a 1 row, second column. button1 has a dock property set to Fill. VS Designer allows to set column/row span properties of button1. • What's the actual windows media player maximum banner width?

    - by William
When looking at the documentation for the banner tag in windows media metafiles all the documentation says there is a maximum size of 194 x 32 pixels. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd562478(v=VS.85).aspx However, when experimenting with larger images they seem to be displaying correctly. Is there some real undocumented limitation here? Will it get cut off on different/older versions?

  • Scrum and motivation

    - by zachary
How can you stop the dev team from padding their numbers when it comes to creating task times? How is there any motivation for them to do their work if there are no real deadlines and they are just measured against their velocity. Get the job done by this deadline vs Get the job done whenever we will reduce scope, quality or increase resources

  • Web developement learning env

    - by David Oneill
I am currently learning Ruby on Rails. I currently do all my development on my laptop. However, I know in all "real world" situations, I will be connecting to a dedicated server that will hold the site. So here is my question: what are the pros and cons of developing on the machine I use vs running the website on a separate server?

  • Which PHP framework is closest to Ruby on Rails? CakePHP? CodeIgniter?

    - by Mike Duncan
I'm going to be switching back and forth between Ruby on Rails projects and some as-of-yet undecided PHP MVC framework projects. Which of the PHP MVC frameworks out there (CakePHP, CodeIgniter?, others?) is most similar to Ruby on Rails in that the most conventions, locations, workflows, etc are preserved? I'm looking for the similarity in the way things are done such as directory structures, conventions, etc, not a pros vs cons in speed, extra features, etc.

    - by user223139
So I have a number of namedRanges in an excel worksheet. I would like to use these to fill in comboboxes on a user form in the same WorkBook. I have tried: cboMember.DataSource = Globals.Sheet1.MemberRange.Value No error is given but the combo is blank. Does anybody have any ideas? I'm trying to use VSTO for VS 2008 on an excel 2003 work book.

  • Visual Studio SVN integration

    - by Piku
Is there any way to properly integrate Subversion control into VS2008? I'm currently using the TortoiseSVN shell extensions, but I keep forgetting to check in new files and it's easy to get in a confused mess. On another project I use VS2008 with SourceSafe, and it's really nice having most things automated or controlled simply by using VS in its normal way.

  • Python new-style classes and __subclasses__ function

    - by Fraser Graham
Can somebody explain to me why this works (in Python 2.5) : class Foo(object): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) but this doesn't : class Foo(): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) The latter returns "AttributeError: class Foo has no attribute '__subclasses__'" but i'm not sure why. I know this is related to old-style vs. new-style classes but i'm not clear on why that would make this functionality unavailable.

  • is there a way to designate the line token delimiter in Perl's file reader?

    - by Dr.Dredel
I'm reading a text file via CGI in, in perl, and noticing that when the file is saved in mac's textEdit the line separator is recognized, but when I upload a CSV that is exported straight from excel, they are not. I'm guessing it's a \n vs. \r issue, but it got me thinking that I don't know how to specify what I would like the line terminator token to be, if I didn't want the one it's looking for by default.
