  Hello, I would like to know which of WCF or .NET Sockets is the more efficient and the more recommended in a game developpment scenario. Here are the different parts of the game : -a client/server communication to play on the internet -peer to peer on local network. I would like to know which technology you would use on these parts (wcf on both, socket on both, wcf on one and socket on the other...) and why, if possible.   Hello. I have a list of urls (content type usage url's). Now, content types are deployed across web's. I need to loop those content types and do some actions in each list, but opening new SPWeb instance every loop is too resource intensive. Is there built-in method to tell me if this URL belongs to certain SPWeb object? Example: SPWeb's may be http://server/web1 http://server/web2 http://server/web2/subweb1 http://server/web2/subweb2 With content type usage links like: /web2/Pages /web2/Lists/Tasks /web2/Lists/Documents /web2/subweb1/Lists/Tasks ... As you can see, for first 3 usages i don't need to open up new SPWeb

• MessageBox doesn't show on mdi form after a long calculation

  Hello This is a very similar problem to This one, sadly that one was never answered either. I have a MDI Main forum that hosts several children forms. One of them does a long calculation and throws an exception if an error occurs (all work is done on the same thread). I then try to inform the user of an error with an messagebox, however it doesn't appear (but steals focus from the MDI Main, so the application is completely unresponsive). The beheviour changes slightly if I call Application.DoEvents() (evil I know, but this is a last resort thing). Then the forms remain completely active and the messagebox only appears after I change active application (Alt+Tab) to something else and then back again. What can I do to make sure the messagebox will be visible? I have already tried passing both, active child and MDI Main as parameter to the MessageBox.Show method. It doesn't change the behaviour.

• How to disable Events for a while in Javascript or jQuery

  Hello, I am wondering if you guys know different approach to disable an event for a while. Let me elaborate this more : Lets say I have a div or button which has a subscriber to its onclick event. To prevent the double click when the the methods are doing some ajax things, these are the some of the ways we can do : Disable the button till the method finishes its job Unbind till the methods finishes its job and then bind it again. Use some kind of flagging system like boolean so it will prevent method from working more than once. So is there any other ways, maybe some javascript tricks or jQuery tricks which is more efficient and better practice. Thanks in advance.

  Hello. I am compiling C++ on *nix and I would like to generate a stack dump a) at an arbitrary point in the program, b) during any signal, particularly during SIGSEGV. Google tells me that ptrace is probably the tool for the job, but I can't find any comprehensible examples of walking the stack. Getting the return address, yeah, but what about the NEXT return address? And what about extracting the symbolic name of the function at that point? Something to do with DWARF? Many thanks if you can tell me where to go from here.

  Hello, As RESTful web services is url based and is not a object, we can't call methods on it. I have a simple web service with only one method in it with is @GET. I saw one screencast and it used some javascript library to consume the web service. But, how do i use it with my JSF project? I can't even inject it like a normal web service. Please help. I am new to REST. Can i not consume it in my managed bean? If the only way to consume the webservice is through javascript, can anybody here give me details of how to consume it through JQuery? • Hiring *good* Mobile Developers in/to Korea - overseas hiring question

  Hello everyone. My question is regarding the best way to find a good mobile developer in Korea, or in another country to bring to Korea. Our company is growing fast and we need some quality mobile developers to start getting our system onto mobile. The problem is, however, that in Korea, their are very few mobile developers (currently) and their pay is extremely expensive. We have looked into India and other SE Asian countries and have concluded that bringing in a developer from another country may be the best choice. However, I am worried about how to find developers that are motivated by passion/creativity instead of getting a paycheck, and am also worried about what country may provide the higher quality worker. To clarify, we would bring in these workers from their country to Korea, and help them get settled here and working in our office. Has anyone had any experience doing this sort of thing in America/Korea/another country? Thank you very much for your replies.

  Hello, I'm making a desktop application in C# which contains a moving News Bar labels. I'm using a timer to move these labels but the problem is that when i make the interval of this timer low (1-10 for example) the application takes very high percentage of CPU Usage, And when i make it higher(200 -500 ) the movement of the labels becomes intermittent or not smooth movement even that the user may not be able to read the news in Comfortable way. Question is : Is there better way to make news Bar moving in a good manner without consuming high resources. Thanks.

• security issue of Linux sudo command?

  Hello everyone, 1. I am using Red Hat Enterprise 5 Linux box. I find if a user is in /etc/sudoers file, then if the user run command with sudo, the user will run this command with root privilege (without knowing root password, the user runs sudo only need to input the user's own password in order to run a command with sudo). Is that correct understanding? 2. If yes, then is it a security hole? Since users other than root could run with root privilege? thanks in advance, George

  Hello, I try to expose a database via ADO RIA for which we have only an ODBC based interface. The "database" is a server and new elements are developped all the time, so I would like the server to check metadata at start (using the odbc schema methods) and then expose what he finds via RIA services.... clients can the nregenerate when they need access to new elements. As such, I dont ahve any CLR types for all the tabled developped. ResourceType tableType = new ResourceType( typeof(object), ResourceTypeKind.EntityType, null, "Martini", table_name, false ); tableType.CanReflectOnInstanceType = false; I can somehow not put in NULl as CLR element type, and entering typeof(object) seems to result in reflection errors when trying to access the properties. Any documentation on how to do that? I dont really want to get into having types... though if I have to, I probably will dynamically generate some via bytecode emit.

But make don't understand: make: *** No rule to make target `abstract-window.c', needed by `gtkbuilder2vala-abstract-window.o'. Stop. This seems to be a limitation of make: http://www.ensta.fr/~diam/dev/online/autoconf/autobook/autobook_180.html if the translation takes three steps--from .m' to.x', then from .x' to.c', and finally to `.o'---then Automake's simplistic approach will break.   Hello everybody I'm using Kohana for so long, but the new Version is a litte bit other. My problem with an example: classes/ controller/ pages.php pages/ imprint.php I want to change my Route so, that if i call domain.tld/pages, the pages.php should called with action_index(). But if i call domain.tld/pages/imprint, pages/imprint.php should called with action_index() (and this should work too: pages/imprint/demo - action_demo() in pages/imprint.php) Tried this with bootstrap and http://kohanaframework.org/guide/api/Route this examples, but cant get it work.   Hello together, my Question is quite simple. I have an add-button. When I tap on it -- presentmodelviewController presents a UIViewController, which contains a simple Table with cells. When I tap on a Cell, i want to display a new View using pushViewController, which automatically creates a "back Button". At the top of it in this new View i have a Textfield, where I can enter some Text. When I tap the back-button, the view slides back to the add-View (which was presented using modalView...). Now i want the text edited in the view before to be placed in the Label of the first row (cell) on which I tapped. So I want to do this for 5 cells. Each of them presenting another xib. I always thought the advantage of asynchronous IO was that the user/programm does not have to wait.

• Linux, static lib referring to other static lib within an executable

  Hello, I am creating an application, which consists of two static libs and an executable. Let's call the two static libs: libusefulclass.a libcore.a And the application: myapp libcore instantiates and uses the class defined in libusefulclass (let's call it UsefulClass) Now, if I link the application in the following way: g++ -m64 -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.5.4/lib -o myapp src1.o src2.o srcN.o -lusefulclass -lcore The linker complains about the methods in libusefulclass not being found: undefined reference to `UsefulClass::foo()' etc. I found a workaround for this: If UsefulClass is also instantiated within the source files of the executable itself, the application is linked without any problems. My question is: is there a more clean way to make libcore refer to methods defined in libusefulclass, or static libs just cannot be linked against eachother? TIA P.S.: In case that matters: the application is being developed in C++ using Qt, but I feel this is not a Qt problem, but a library problem in general.

• Android delivering different Cell IDs (Neighboring Cell Info)

  Hello. Using an Android Dev Phone 2, I'm using the GsmCellLocation.getCid() method to get the Cell ID on my network. When I run the command and get all the CellIDs for the NeighboringCellInfo I get this values: 597195726 597185722 597195718 597110191 597101100 597175726 I'm running this using the SDK 1.6. The problem is that when I run the Engineering Mode on a GSM modem that I have, running a command to obtain the Neighboring Cell IDs, I get this values: 34253 0 34223 34262 34181 0 What is the difference here? In what format is Android delivering the Cell IDs? I tried doing a "cell.getCid() & 0xffff" but now I'm getting the values: 21690 31686 37068 11695 11694 31694 Which are still different from the one that the GSM Modem is delivering with the Engineering Mode. Obviously I tried this on at the same time, same location. I'm trying to get the same Cell IDs that the external GSM modem I using is delivering Please provide any help Thanks in advance!
