  • How to understand the functional programming code for converting IP string to a number?

    - by zfz
In a python discusion, I saw a way to convert IP string to a integer in functional progamming way. Here is the Link . The function is implemented in a single line. def ipnumber(ip): return reduce(lambda sum, chunk: sum <<8 | chunk, map(int, ip.split("."))) However, I have few ideas of funcional programming. Could anybody explain the function in detail? I've some knowledg of "map" and "reduce". But I don't konw what "|" and "chunk" mean here? Thanks.

  • PHP - Why does my computation produce a different result when I assign it to a variable?

    - by David
    I want to round a number to a specific number of significant digits - basically I want the following function: round(12345.67, 2) -> 12000 round(8888, 3) -> 8890 I have the following, but there's a strange problem. function round_to_sf($number, $sf) { $mostsigplace = floor(log10(abs($number)))+1; $num = $number / pow(10, ($mostsigplace-$sf)); echo ($number / pow(10, ($mostsigplace-$sf))).' '.$num.'<BR>'; } round_to_sf(41918.522, 1); Produces the following output: 4.1918522 -0 How can the result of a computation be different when it's assigned to a variable?

  • How to hide/show div using jQuery without altering dimensions?

    - by Byron S
I have a div that is holding a google chart: <div id="chart_div" style="width: 600px; height: 300px;"></div> It has one CSS property: display: none. On the click of a button, I would like to have the chart be displayed using jQuery hide() and show(). It's working, however, the chart's dimensions are set to something different than I have specified and refuse to change to what I have specified. Here is my jquery code: $(document).ready(function(){ var chart = $('#chart_div'); $('#submit').click(function(){ chart.show('slow'); }); }); Let me know if theres any more code you would like to see. By the way, the chart div is not being contained in anything else so that isn't the problem.

  • How to find hidden properties/methods in Javascript objects?

    - by ramanujan
I would like to automatically determine all of the properties (including the hidden ones) in a given Javascript object, via a generalization of this function: function keys(obj) { var ll = []; for(var pp in obj) { ll.push(pp); } return ll; } This works for user defined objects but fails for many builtins: repl> keys({"a":10,"b":2}); // ["a","b"] repl> keys(Math) // returns nothing! Basically, I'd like to write equivalents of Python's dir() and help(), which are really useful in exploring new objects. My understanding is that only the builtin objects have hidden properties (user code evidently can't set the "enumerable" property till HTML5), so one possibility is to simply hardcode the properties of Math, String, etc. into a dir() equivalent (using the lists such as those here). But is there a better way?

  • How can i return List of directories instead of url's?

    - by user1741587
I have this function : private List<string> getLinks(HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument document) { List<string> mainLinks = new List<string>(); var linkNodes = document.DocumentNode.SelectNodes("//a[@href]"); if (linkNodes != null) { foreach (HtmlNode link in linkNodes) { var href = link.Attributes["href"].Value; if (href.StartsWith("http://") == true || href.StartsWith("https://") == true || href.StartsWith("www") == true) // filter for http { mainLinks.Add(href); } } } return mainLinks; } Its getting one url and return list of url's. Instead i want that the function will get a directory for example c:\ And it will return me a List of all directories in c:\ Not subsirectories just the directories in c:\ in my case it should be a List with a 14 directories. Meaning in each index in the List a directory. How can i do it ? Tried with Directory and DirectoryInfo but i just got messed up.

  • getting the names of elements in JS/jQuery

    - by Mala
I have some checkbox inputs like so: <input type="checkbox" name="1" class="filter"/> <input type="checkbox" name="2" class="filter"/> ...etc... I'm trying to write a function where any time a checkbox is selected, it generates a string with all the names concatenated. Here's what I have so far: $('.filter').click(function(event){ var filters = $('.filter').toArray(); var fstr = ""; for (f in filters) { fstr = fstr+","+f.name; } alert(fstr); }); The names keep coming up as 'undefined', though (i.e. the alert returns ,undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined). How do I access the names?

  • How do I find the millionth number in the series: 2 3 4 6 9 13 19 28 42 63 ... ?

    - by HH
It takes about minute to achieve 3000 in my comp but I need to know the millionth number in the series. The definition is recursive so I cannot see any shortcuts except to calculate everything before the millionth number. How can you fast calculate millionth number in the series? Series Def n_{i+1} = \floor{ 3/2 * n_{i} } and n_{0}=2. Interestingly, only one site list the series according to Google: this one. Too slow Bash code #!/bin/bash function series { n=$( echo "3/2*$n" | bc -l | tr '\n' ' ' | sed -e 's@\\@@g' -e 's@ @@g' ); # bc gives \ at very large numbers, sed-tr for it n=$( echo $n/1 | bc ) #DUMMY FLOOR func } n=2 nth=1 while [ true ]; #$nth -lt 500 ]; do series $n # n gets new value in the function through global value echo $nth $n nth=$( echo $nth + 1 | bc ) #n++ done

  • Mongoose 3.1.0: Why the callback in the connection.db.dropDatabase(callback) is never called?

    - by Totty
Code: var connection = mongoose.createConnection('mongodb://localhost:9000/' + databaseName); connection.db.dropDatabase(function(err){ // never reach this point! debugger; console.log(err); console.log('-------------->Dropped database: ' + databaseName); }); If I do connection.open it says that it's already opening and no multiple calls to "open" are supported for the same connection. Even this doesn't work var conn = mongoose.createConnection('mongodb://localhost',databaseName, 9000, {}, function(){ console.log('created'); // is reached conn.db.dropDatabase(callback); // but the callback is not called anyway }); What is the problem? ("mongoose": "3.1.0") thanks

  • Why can't I open a new window on my jquery ajax callback?

    - by KyleGobel
to show my problem in a couple examples... THIS WORKS $.post("SomePage.aspx", { name : "value" }, function (data) { alert(data); }, "text"); THIS DOESN'T WORK $.post("SomePage.aspx", { name : "value" }, function (data) { window.open("http://www.google.com"); }, "text"); In the first example, I get alerted with what i'm expecting. In the second example, nothing happens. No window is opened. If I add an alert or something before or after the window.open call, the alert works fine, but the window doesn't open. If I add a window.open completly after the $.post method, the window opens fine (of course this doens't help me at all). I'm wondering why I can't open a window in the callback. What do I have to do to be able to open a window? I'd like to open a window to show some fancy results. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • Why aren't my JQuery .ajax requests being made in parallel?

    - by Ryan Olson
I am trying to make two ajax requests in parallel using jQuery like this: var sources = ["source1", "source2"]; $(sources).each(function() { var source = this; $.ajax({ async: true, type: "POST", data: {post: "data", in: "here"}, url: "/my/url/" + source, success: function(data) { process_result(data); } }); }); I got the basic structure from this question, but my requests still aren't being made in parallel. "source1" takes a while to complete, and I can see on the server that the second request isn't made until the first is completed. As far as I can tell, I don't have any other active requests, so I don't think it's a problem with the maximum number of parallel requests for the browser. Am I missing something else here?

  • Remove a DIV using a link

    - by GSTAR
HTML: <div class="row"> <!-- content --> <a href="#" class="remove">remove</a> </div> JS: $('.remove').click(function(){ $(this).parent().remove(); return false; }); If there is only one DIV it works OK but when there are multiple DIVS (class="row") it won't do anything. No errors are returned either. EDIT: I should add that by default there is only one div - additional divs get dynamically created using a jQuery clone function - perhaps this is why it won't recognise the new link/div?

Hi all, I have a Toolbarbutton <toolbarbutton context="TabMenue" id="esbTb_rss_reader" label="News" type="menu"> with a Context menue which comes up when the button is right clickt <menupopup id="TabMenue" > <menuitem label="New Tab" oncommand="esbTb_loadURLNewTab()"/> </menupopup> so this function should open the new window in a new tab function esbTb_loadURLNewTab() { window.open(ClickUrl,'name'); } I don't get it working that the new Window is showing up in a new tab it always opens a new firefox window. I tried also like described in this article to set the browser.link.open_newwindow and browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction preferences but that doesn't bringt anything. And I tried it with all Target attributes which came in my mind. So I'm grateful for any hints, tips what ever this is driving me crazy...

  • scrollTop with jQuery

    - by Narcís
I want a foot to be at the bottom of the page. But when the user makes the window smaller, the two divs come together, it would be better that begins the scroll and hides the foot. I don't know if I explain? I have the code life here: http://jsfiddle.net/mdAsn/ $(function(){ $(document).scroll(function(){ var topDistance = $('#foot').scrollTop(); if(topDistance >= 420){ $('#foot').css({position: 'absolute',bottom:'10px'}); } else{ $('#foot').css({position: 'absolute',top:'410px'}); } }); })

  • Get Element with jQuery .on()

    - by Gabriel Ryan Nahmias
If I'm using jQuery's .on() function like this (there's more to it but this is the main problem area extracted): $(document).on("click", $("#contcont a, #leftnav li a, #leftnav li ul a, #mainarea-home a").not(".secitem-mid a") , function clicker(event, sData) { var $this = $(this); sHREF = $this.attr("href"); alert(sHREF); } ); I'm getting undefined so what would be the best way to actually get the element that's being clicked? I need .on() so that it always occurs, obviously, instead of having to attach it to all the elements every time new data is loaded (this is through Yahoo! stores so it's a necessity to do it this way). Thanks.

  • Best way to find all input elements inside a form using jQuery

    - by Aayush
I need to find all form elements inside inside a form and trigger a flag on change in the value. Currently I am using the method below. I am not sure if this works or not. But It surely works for: .find('input[type=text]) $('#form').find('input[type=text], input[type=radio], input[type=checkbox], select, textarea').each(function(){ $(this).change(function(){ if( change !== 1 ) change = 1; }); }) Now I have added multiple elements with the comma. Will this work and is this the best way to do this. Appreciate all the help. Thanks!

    Currently, I check the target of the input box keyup event to see if it is contained within a div wit class "editorRow" using: var $parentClass = event.target.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.className; Is there a better way to do this in case extra markup is added between the div and the span tags? <div class="editorRow"> <li> <span class="wi1"> <input type="text" value="" style="width: 80px;" name="LineItems9" id="LineItems_9"> </span> </li> </div>   $("input").live("keyup", function(event) { return GiveDynamicFieldsLife(event); }); function GiveDynamicFieldsLife(event) { **var $parentClass = event.target.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.className;** if ($parentClass == "editorRow") { //Do Stuff } }

  • PHP multiple __autoload functions *without* the use of spl_register_autoload?

    - by Keith Palmer
I'm an author of a growing library of PHP + QuickBooks related code. I'd like to utilize PHPs __autoload() function, however my code is a library that other people can include() into their own applications, so I can't rely on __autoload() being not already defined. Is there a way to have multiple __autoload() functions? I saw spl_autoload_register() in the PHP manual, but not all of my users have the SPL extension installed, so I can't rely on that. If there was a way to fall-back to using this and use normal require/include statements by default, I might consider that. Does anyone else have any other clever solutions to this issue? It seems like a glaring oversight to only be able to have a single __autoload() function...
