  • C++ static virtual members?

    - by cvb
    Is it possible in C++ to have a member function that is both static and virtual? Apperantly, there isn't a straight-forward way to do it (static virtual member(); is a complie error), but at least a way to acheive the same effect? I.E: struct Object { struct TypeInformation; static virtual const TypeInformation &GetTypeInformation() const; }; struct SomeObject : public Object { static virtual const TypeInformation &GetTypeInformation() const; }; It makes sence to use GetTypeInformation() both on an instance (object->GetTypeInformation()) and on a class (SomeObject::GetTypeInformation()), which can be useful for comparsions and vital for templates. The only ways I can think of involves writing two functions / a function and a constant, per class, or use macros. Any other solutions?

  • PHP class that changes an image and reloads the page not displaying new image in Internet Explorer

    - by Stuart
    I have a class that runs a function when the image is clicked on to display an additional image. This function produces a linked div tag that reloads the page with a set of variables that then produces another image. The image is set as a background image on a large div tag behind the linked div tags to give the same effect as an image map but without using an image map or a SVG. This works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox but will not display the new image in Internet Explorer until you F5 the page again with the get variables in the URL? Does anyone know how to fix this issue so that it works in IE the same as the other browsers? Many thanks.

  • What is the Effect of Declaring 'extern "C"' in the Header to a C++ Shared Library?

    - by Adam
    Based on this question I understand the purpose of the construct in linking C libraries with C++ code. Now suppose the following: I have a '.so' shared library compiled with a C++ compiler. The header has a 'typedef stuct' and a number of function declarations. If the header includes the extern "C" declaration... #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif // typedef struct ...; // function decls #ifdef __cplusplus } #endif ... what is the effect? Specifically I'm wondering if there are any detrimental side effects of that declaration since the shared library is compiled as C++, not C. Is there any reason to have the extern "C" declaration in this case?

  • contain new elements of an "instance" in javascript

    - by iamnotmad
    Hi, so I know there are tons of ways to simulate inheritance and other OO features. I have chosen one to use for my project and am wondering if I can create an instance and add stuff to it and keep it contained (within braces). Consider the following: function BaseClass(){ <this.stuff here> } function SubClass(){ this.superClass = BaseClass(); this.superClass(); <this.other stuff here> } myObj = new SubClass(); so myObj is an instance of SubClass. I can add things to myObj like: myObj.blah = "funtimes"; What I would like is to be able to add stuff to the "instance" and keep it organized in braces much like the constructor. psuedo code like: myObj = new SubClass() { var blah = "funtimes" <more instance specific stuff here> } Is something like this possible? Thanks!

  • Passing User Data with SetTimer

    - by GJ
    I am calling SetTimer in a function of a Class. SetTimer(NULL, 0, 10000, (TIMERPROC) TimerCallBack); Where TimerCallBack is: static VOID CALLBACK TimerCallBack(HWND, UINT, UINT, DWORD) Now my need is to call one of the method of class which initiated timer, since TimerCallBack is static it has no access to the class object anymore. I cant find any way to pass object pointer along with the SetTimer so that I can receive it back on Callback function. Is there any other way to achieve this, if its not supported using SetTimer then which other way I can implement this.

  • .click() callback references local variable from the calling method instead of copying by value

    - by Eric Freese
    The following jQuery Javascript code is included on an otherwise empty page. $(function() { for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { element = $('<div>' + i + '</div>'); element.click(function() { alert(i); }); $('body').append(element); } }); The desired behavior is that this code should generate 10 div elements numbered from 0 to 9. When you click on a div element, an alert popup will show the number of the div element you clicked on (i.e. if a user clicks on the div element labeled '4', the alert popup should show the number 4). The alert popup instead shows the number 10 regardless of which div element is clicked on. How can I modify this code to make it behave in the desired way?

  • Get Element with jQuery .on()

    - by Gabriel Ryan Nahmias
    If I'm using jQuery's .on() function like this (there's more to it but this is the main problem area extracted): $(document).on("click", $("#contcont a, #leftnav li a, #leftnav li ul a, #mainarea-home a").not(".secitem-mid a") , function clicker(event, sData) { var $this = $(this); sHREF = $this.attr("href"); alert(sHREF); } ); I'm getting undefined so what would be the best way to actually get the element that's being clicked? I need .on() so that it always occurs, obviously, instead of having to attach it to all the elements every time new data is loaded (this is through Yahoo! stores so it's a necessity to do it this way). Thanks.

  • Interpreters: Handling includes/imports

    - by sub
    I've built an interpreter in C++ and everything works fine so far, but now I'm getting stuck with the design of the import/include/however you want to call it function. I thought about the following: Handling includes in the tokenizing process: When there is an include found in the code, the tokenizing function is recursively called with the filename specified. The tokenized code of the included file is then added to the prior position of the include. Disadvantages: No conditional includes(!) Handling includes during the interpreting process: I don't know how. All I know is that PHP must do it this way as conditional includes are possible. Now my questions: What should I do about includes? How do modern interpreters (Python/Ruby) handle this? Do they allow conditional includes?

  • Call/Return feature of classic C++(C with Classes), what modern languages have it?

    - by AraK
    Hi, On page 57 of The Design and Evolution of C++, Dr. Stroustrup talks about a feature that was initially part of C with Classes, but it isn't part of modern C++(standard C++). The feature is called call/return. This is an example: class myclass { call() { /* do something before each call to a function. */ } return() { /* do something else after each call to a function. */ } ... }; I find this feature very interesting. Does any modern language have this particular feature?

  • Overriding vs Virtual

    - by anonymous
    What is the purpose of using the reserved word virtual in front of functions? If I want a child class to override a parent function, I just declare the same function such as "void draw(){}". class Parent{ public: void say(){ std::cout << "1"; }}; class Child : public Parent{public:void say(){ std::cout << "2"; } }; int main() { Child* a = new Child(); a->say(); return 0; } The output is 2. So again, why would the reserved word "virtual" be necessary in the header of say() ? Thanks a bunch.

  • Inserting text into a textarea using .load() in jQuery

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, having a bit of a nightmare, I am trying to use jQuery to insert some text taken from a .load() call into a form field (textfield) after a user logs in (basically prefilling some known details) The code I am using is: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/ajax/login.php", data: dataString, success: function(html) { if (html == 1) { $("#loginPanel").load("/ajax/login-panel.php"); $("#bookName").load("/ajax/getSessionDetails.php #userUsername"); $("#bookEmail").load("/ajax/getSessionDetails.php #userEmail"); $("#bookingLogin").hide("fast"); } else { $("#loginError").html("Sorry, login failed, please try again"); } } }); If I hardcode such as $("#bookName").html("Test Content"); it works OK so it must be a problem with the .load call. I looked around and found some guy suggest something like the following code but I couldn't get it to work: $.get(htmlBannerUrl, function(data){ $('textarea').val(data); });

  • CSS Position Help (horizontal sidebar showing up when animate content over)

    - by jstacks
    Let me try my best to explain what I'd like to have happen, show you the code I have an hopefully I can get some help. So, I'm trying to do a sliding navigation UI from the left side of the screen (like a lot of mobile apps). The main content slides over, displaying the navigation menu beneath. Right now the browser thinks the screen is getting wider and introduces a horizontal scroll bar. However, I don't want that to happen... How do I get the div to animate off screen but not enlarge the width of the screen (i.e. keep it partially off screen)? Anyway here is my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/2vP67/6/ And here is the code within the post: HTML <div id='wrapper'> <div id='navWide'> </div> <div id='containerWide'> </div> <div id='containerTall'> <div id='container'> <div id='nav'> <div id='navNavigate'> Open Menu </div> <div id='navNavigateHide'> Close Menu </div> </div> </div> </div> <div id='sideContainerTall'> <div id='sideContainer'> <div id='sideNav'>Side Navigation </div> </div> </div> </div> CSS #wrapper { width:100%; min-width:1000px; height:100%; min-height:100%; position:relative; top:0; left:0; z-index:0; } #navWide { color: #ffffff; background:#222222; width:100%; min-width:1000px; height:45px; position:fixed; top:0; left:0; z-index:100; } #containerWide { width:100%; min-width:1000px; min-height:100%; position:absolute; top:45px; z-index:100; } #containerTall { color: #000000; background:#dadada; width:960px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:1000; } /***** main container *****/ #container { width:960px; min-height:585px; } #nav { color: #ffffff; background:#222222; width:960px; height:45px; position:fixed; top:0; z-index:10000; } #navNavigate { background:yellow; font-size:10px; color:#888888; width:32px; height:32px; padding:7px 6px 6px 6px; float:left; cursor:pointer; } #navNavigateHide { background:yellow; font-size:10px; color:#888888; width:32px; height:32px; padding:7px 6px 6px 6px; float:left; cursor:pointer; display:none; } #sideContainerTall { background:#888888; width:264px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:500; } #sideContainer { width:264px; min-height:585px; display:none; } #sideContainerTall { background:#888888; width:264px; min-height:100%; margin-left:-480px; position:absolute; top:0; left:50%; z-index:500; } #sideContainer { width:264px; min-height:585px; display:none; } #sideNav { width:264px; height:648px; float:left; } Javascript $(document).ready(function() { $('div#navNavigate').click(function() { $('div#navNavigate').hide(); $('div#navNavigateHide').show(); $('div#sideContainer').show(); $('div#containerTall').animate({ 'left': '+=264px' }); }); $('div#navNavigateHide').click(function() { $('div#navNavigate').show(); $('div#navNavigateHide').hide(); $('div#containerTall').animate({ 'left': '-=264px' }, function() { $('div#sideContainer').hide(); }); }); });

  • Temporarily Disallow JQuery Toggle

    - by Kevin Sylvestre
    I have a menu that is toggled when a user selects a link. The menu has an animation attached, and I want to prevent toggling while the animation is running. The following snippet works, but flips the state of toggle if the link is clicked quickly twice (i.e. if the user clicks the link quickly twice, the next click will trigger the same action): <a href="" id="button">Menu</a> <div id="menu">...</a> <script> $("#button").toggle( function (e) { if $("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.show("slow"); }, function (e) { if ("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.hide("slow"); } ); </script> How can I prevent switching states within toggle? Thanks.

  • JQuery div tag has children in FireFox but not Chrome

    - by John Edwards
    I am using JQuery ajax to load images from a url, display them, and then place a button on top of each image. The code works in firefox, but in chrome, the div parent "photos" that should have all the children(one child div "photo" for each image received from the url) is 0. I have tried read() and load(), but nothing seems to work. If I run alert($('#photos').children().size()); in the Chrome console it returns the children. But at execution it returns 0. Any ideas? $(window).load(function () { $("p").text("The DOM is now loaded and can be manipulated."); //returns 0 in chrome, but 10 in firefox alert($('#photos').children().size()); $('#photos').children().each(function() { //do stuff

  • Array "tree" creation from db table

    - by Tural Teyyuboglu
    Trying to create array tree for db driven navigation. Getting following errur: array_key_exists() expects exactly 2 parameters, 1 given on line if (!array_key_exists($tree[$parent]['children'][$id])) Function looks like that $tree = array(); $sql = "SELECT id, parent, name FROM menu WHERE parent ... etc.... "; $results = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); while(list($id, $parent, $name) = mysql_fetch_assoc($results)) { $tree[$id] = array('name' => $name, 'children' => array(), 'parent' => $parent); if (!array_key_exists($tree[$parent]['children'][$id])) { $tree[$parent]['children'][$id] = $id; } } Db structure How can I fix that? Whats wrong in this function?

  • HandsOnTable - using date functions with methods

    - by briansol
    I have a function used on the datepicker to limit dates selected to the first of the month... I invoke it by setting a class and listener, such as: $( ".datepickfom" ).datepicker( { beforeShowDay: fom, showOn: "both", buttonImage: "/images/calendar.png", buttonImageOnly: true, changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, dateFormat: "m/d/yy", yearRange: "-25:+100", constrainInput: true } ); the fom call: function fom(date){ if (date.getDate() != 1) { return [false, "", "Specify 1st of Month"]; } return [true, ""]; } This works great for regular forms. I'm looking to extend this functionality to the HandsOnTable 'date' cell data types. var $container_1 = $("#datatable_1"); var handsontable_1 = $container_1.data('handsontable'); $("#datatable_1").handsontable( { columns: [ {}, {}, { type: 'date', dateFormat: 'm/d/yy' }, {}, { type: 'dropdown', source: ["","Y","N"] }, {}, {} ] }); This also works as it should, but the date lets me pick other dates besides the first. Is there a way to attach the beforeShowDay option to the HOT cell call as well?

  • How do I find the millionth number in the series: 2 3 4 6 9 13 19 28 42 63 ... ?

    - by HH
    It takes about minute to achieve 3000 in my comp but I need to know the millionth number in the series. The definition is recursive so I cannot see any shortcuts except to calculate everything before the millionth number. How can you fast calculate millionth number in the series? Series Def n_{i+1} = \floor{ 3/2 * n_{i} } and n_{0}=2. Interestingly, only one site list the series according to Google: this one. Too slow Bash code #!/bin/bash function series { n=$( echo "3/2*$n" | bc -l | tr '\n' ' ' | sed -e 's@\\@@g' -e 's@ @@g' ); # bc gives \ at very large numbers, sed-tr for it n=$( echo $n/1 | bc ) #DUMMY FLOOR func } n=2 nth=1 while [ true ]; #$nth -lt 500 ]; do series $n # n gets new value in the function through global value echo $nth $n nth=$( echo $nth + 1 | bc ) #n++ done

  • C++ DLL which can inform a calling program about its progress

    - by Felix Dombek
    My boss wants me to write a DLL in C++ (MSVC++2010) which can perform a Volume Shadow Copy which he can call from VB6 (or at a later point other languages) and which can give status updates back while it is not finished. He calls it "events". I have the feeling that I finally need to learn COM (I'd rather not ...) ... also, a callback function comes to my mind, but it's surely impossible to hand over function pointers from VB6 to C++? Can someone outline what I have to learn and how this can be accomplished, with or without COM?

  • How do I make this linkButton custom component work?

    - by Adam
    package { import mx.controls.LinkButton; import flash.text.TextLineMetrics; public class multiLineLinkButton extends LinkButton { override protected function createChildren():void { super.createChildren(); if (textField){ textField.wordWrap = true; textField.multiline = true; } } override public function measureText(s:String):TextLineMetrics { textField.text = s; var lineMetrics:TextLineMetrics = textField.getLineMetrics(0); lineMetrics.width = textField.textWidth; lineMetrics.height = textField.textHeight; return lineMetrics; } } my issue here is if you use this component you will see that the text is bunched up into a very small area. It does not fill the entire width of the linkButton. Anyone know why this is happening?

  • How can I insert a line at the beginning of a file with Perl's Tie::File?

    - by thebourneid
    I'm trying to insert/add a line 'COMMENT DUMMY' at the beginnig of a file as a first row if /PATTERN/ not found. I know how to do this with OPEN CLOSE function. Probably after reading the file it should look something like this: open F, ">", $fn or die "could not open file: $!"; ; print F "COMMENT DUMMY\n", @array; close F; But I have a need to implement this with the use of the Tie::File function and don't know how. use strict; use warnings; use Tie::File; my $fn = 'test.txt'; tie my @lines, 'Tie::File', $fn or die "could not tie file: $!"; untie @lines;
