• Locale C++ shared library in /usr/local/lib

  I'm venturing into the world of C++ and Linux, and am having problems linking against a shared library. I have a library, libicuuc.so.44.1, installed in /usr/local/lib. There is also a link in the same directory, libicuuc.so.44 pointing to that library. My /etc/ld.so.conf reads: include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf I have a file, /etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc.conf, that contains: # libc default configuration /usr/local/lib However, when I compile my program (that includes LIBS += -licuuc), I get the following error at runtime: error while loading shared libraries: libicuuc.so.44: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I am using Qt Creator on Ubuntu 10.04. Any help is greatly appreciated!

• simple php script

  New to php and taking a class for it. Bought php6 and mysql 6 bible to get started. Of course the hello world script is the first you get and it doesn't show. It just reads part of my script and I'm not sure the problem. Link to test - http://harden6615.com/ I am using a hosted server I bought for class, but I have also check it using MAMP. • The best practice to setup hierarchy data

  I'm trying to figure out the best practice to setup hierarchy data that i take from a database into some contoller that would show the hierachy. Basicly this would look like a normal tree but when you press the items that are under "chapters" you get a link to another page. I have these tables and this is the way they are connected Period Courses Subjects Chapters I select Period from a DropDownBox and then i want all the courses in that period to line up. Under each course would be the subject and under them are the chapers, typical hierarchy. The tables are linked together with refrences to each other in linear way. I have tried to use treeview to show this, but dont understand how to do it. I though i could use <ul><il> tags and do it at runtime. Reapeter or datalist, possible ? Is it better to do this with databinding in XAML or in code ?

• Getting the size of an opening window in WebKit

  Hi, I'm implementing a "WebKit Browser In An Application" which basically embeds WebViews in Qt widgets (we're using the WebKit browser instead of Qt's since it's stabler and more up-to-date). So far everything's great, until someone clicks on a link which invokes a Javascript "Window.open" function with a custom width and height for the new window. I've set the various delegates for the parent window: setFrameLoadDelegate, setResourceLoadDelegate, setPolicyDelegate, and setUIDelegate. I am getting a createWebViewWithRequest in the UI delegate as expected when the window opens (with a null request, as others have noted). I then get a decidePolicyForNavigationAction for the new window, but it doesn't have the proposed window's width or height. I NEVER get a decidePolicyForNewWindowAction for JavaScript window.open (also noted by others). So I'm at a loss. Is there a way to get this information so I can set the Qt Widget's size correctly?

• html links & hover events over certain locations on an image.

  So i created a web site a long time ago using a designer alot like frontpage + expression design put together, and since then Ive gotten more into coding, and I'm learning html, CSS, and all that good stuff.. and i have this re-designed header that Ive made here: http://prntscr.com/8zct So what I need to know, is how i can get it so that when a user clicks on one of the links in the header design it will redirect to a page. and also if possible, how to make it so when a user hovers over a link a drop down may appear with other options. As me being quite new to this sort of stuff, could anybody help me achieve this? PS. I'm working in Visual Studio with ASP. but that doesn't change anything about the html and css stuff. just letting you guys know.

• SSIS Migration - Pulling IDs from dest DB?

  So I'm working on migrating some data to a new server. In the new server, each entry in the MAIN table is assigned a new GUID when the transfer takes place. A few other tables must be migrated, and their records must link to the GUID in the MAIN table. Example... WorksheetID --- GUID 1245677903 --- 1 AccidentID --- WorksheetID --- Guid 12121412 --- 1245677903 --- 1 The guid is used moreso for versioning purposes, but my question is this. In SSIS, is there any way to pull the Worksheet's GUID from the destination database and assign it directly to the entries in the 'Accident' table? Or do I have to just dump the data into the source DB and run some scripts to get everything nicely referenced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How do C++ header files work?

  Hi all. When I include some function from a header file in a C++ program, does the entire header file code get copied to the final executable or only the machine code for the specific function is generated. For example, if I call std::sort from the <algorithm> header in C++, is the machine code generated only for the sort() function or for the entire <algorithm> header file. I think that a similar question exists somewhere on Stack Overflow, but I have tried my best to find it (I glanced over it once, but lost the link). If you can point me to that, it would be wonderful.

• Storing PDFs in MS Access Database using Forms

  I need to store PDF files in an Access database on a shared drive using a form. I figured out how to do this in tables (using the OLE Object field, then just drag-and-drop) but I would like to do this on a Form that has a Save button. Clicking the save button would store the file (not just a link) in the database. Any ideas on how to do this? EDIT: I am using Access 2003, and the DB will be stored on a share drive, so I'm not sure linking to the files will solve the problem.

• Image equivalent of ActionLink in ASP.NET MVC

  In ASP.NET MVC is there an equivalent of the Html.ActionLink helper for Img tags? I have a controller action that outputs a dynamically generated JPEG and I wanted to use the same Lambda expressions to link to it as I do HREFs using ActionLink. Alternatively, a helper that just gives the URL to a route (again specified using Lambdas) would also be acceptable. EDIT: I had originally specified that I was using Preview 5, however I see that a Beta has been released. So all-in-all the version number was an unneeded piece of info as I may be upgrading soon :-)

• Learn C++ after learning C#

  I'm developing a library in C# at the moment and recently bought a great book to help me out but the code snippets are in C++. Does anyone have a link to a site/PDF that'll give me a crash course in C++? (mainly the syntax rather than pros/cons etc) because I'll be developing in C# but things like -, ::, &, **, are giving me the shivers. Obviously the languages aren't 100% compatible but if I know what the C++ is doing from a 'theoretical' point of view I can make a stab at rewriting it in C#. I've had a Google to find the answer but all the sites seem to be "Should I use C++ or C#?", which isn't any good to me. Thanks in advance.

• <a> with an inner <span> not triggering :active state in IE 8

  I want to style the :active state of a button that is represented by an <a> tag. The <a> tag has an inner <span> (beacuse I want to add an icon to this button). I notice the :active state is triggered properly in everything but Internet Explorer 8. In IE 8, it appears that the area around the <span> (the <a>’s padding) triggers the :active state, but when clicking directly on the text within the <span>, the :active state is not triggered.   A lot of what I'm doing at the moment is figuring out other peoples code and adding or adapting functions, so currently I am debugging more than I am writing code of my own. I'm still new to this, Junior Developer, and I am always finding new ways to improve what I am doing. For example I recently found This Guide which had some excellent tips, such as overriding the ToString() method in your classes so children are readable from their parents. So I am looking for any other tips or tricks to make my debugging more efficient, as I recognise it as a big part of programming, that you more experienced programmers may have picked up or found. Anything appreciated, I can read websites just fine so no need to explain it yourself if you have a good link!

• One code on dev server, and production server - how to deal with links?

  I have a copy of a code running ont he prod server, and I sue my local machine(s) running xampp as a dev server. I have several websites that I actively develop, so Im forced to use http://localhost/sitename All my URLs are relative to the domain, (/file.php). They work fine on the prod server, but on a local server, they all point to localhost, when I want to make them all work relative to the site folder they are in. Is there anything I could do, other than what I do now, which is this: if($_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] == "localhost") { $path_to = "http://" . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . "/folder"; $path_to_files = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] .   How do I add let's say something like ajax=1 to all links on my page with jquery. I will also need to check if the url has existing parameters. for example "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132" will have to become "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132&ajax=1" Also, if the link does not have any parameters, for example "http://mysite.com/index.php", it will become "http://mysite.com/index.php?ajax=1" I want to load the jquery script on document ready so all links are changed on page load.   I'm using the ddslick jquery dropdown plugin in conjunction with my Rails app. In view1, I have $('#challenges_dropdown').ddslick({ <snipped> onSelected: function (data) { $.ajax({ url: "/load_data", type: "GET", data: {"id": data.selectedData.value} }); } }); I.e., I make a call to my controller to load_data. The controller receives this correctly and then at the end, makes a call to render a separate view render "data" This view contains a script snippet that needs to run in order to update some elements of my original view. For some reason, this script snippet is just not running. I'm very confused. When I use a regular link with data-remote="true", then the whole process works perfectly. However, when I make an AJAX call, it fails. What's going on?? Thanks! Ringo

• twitter share url forgeting the tweet content after login

  I'm trying to add a "share via twitter" link to our website. I'm aware of the standard http://twitter.com/home?status=TWEET method, and it works good enough for my purposes when the user is logged in to twitter already. If, however, the user is not logged in, twitter displays the login form first (which is only reasonable). After the login, the home screen is displayed without the tweet content. Am I missing something obvious, or is this a know flaw in this method? If so, what is the easiest way (apart from using services like TweetMeme, which I noticed asks for login in advance) to make the share button work as expected?

  Hello, I'm using for now List< to iterate through some object collection and find matching element, The problem is that object has only 2 significant values Name and Link (strings) but has some other values wich I dont want to compare. I'm thinkig about using something like HashSet (wich is exactly what I'm searching for - fast) from .NET 3.5 but target framework has to be 2.0. There is something called Power Collections here: http://powercollections.codeplex.com/ But maybe there is other way? If not, can you suggest me a suitable custom collection?

• Magento - Using alternative "reviews count" on category list page

  Hi All I noticed that on the category list page, the number of reviews (pulled from frontend/base/default/template/review/helper/summary_short.phtml) lists the full amount of reviews for an item, not the amount available to the store view you’re on. So, for example (using the sample data) the Samsung MM-A900M Ace has 5 reviews - however, when you click that link and are taken to the reviews page, it actually just has 2 (as only 2 are available to the English view). But on the reviews page, the review count is correct and says 2 reviews (this time pulled from frontend/base/default/template/review/product/view/count.phtml). Is there any way to use this review count on the category list?

• HTML/CSS - Image inside a li element from the navigation bar

  I have a navigation bar, and underneath a black div on which the drop-down elements from the navigation bar drops. This is not the main function of the black div. It is just for design, but it works really well. You can see here what i am talking about: http://www.ecoloc.ro/interior/test/regeneration . Now, what i want to do is that every time a main element from the navigation bar is hovered, an image big enough to cover the main element and a part of that black div beneath it will appear. You can see in the link that i posted, on that black gap i want the image. Can this be done? Thank you!

  Back again! I've been doing some async socket programming with select() on windows,and it's been working quite well. However it's only scalable up to 1024 clients.Poll() is the way to get around that limitation, and I know it works on both linux and unix. But it doesn't work with a windows system correct? I read about WsaPoll(), does it have the exact same functionality? What libraries would I have to link to in order to use it? Can I increase the socket number safely in windows with FD_SETSIZE? My end program will be on a linux server. However I am testing on a windows system right now. Should I just swap my test machine over to a linux box? (probably going to anyway) Otherwise what would you recommend to use with windows? (sorry for all of the questions, I am doing research on my own, I promise =D)

• Problems loading controller from url with codeigniter?

  I'm currently in the process of putting up my first website for public use. I am using the codeigniter framework in order to do this, but I am having trouble loading the controllers from the url. I currently have the default codeigniter installment that you download trying to get things to work. The controller welcome is loaded by default, but when I try to load it through the url it doesn't work. I was having the same problem with the site that I had uploaded earlier.   I have a PrivilegeGroup table, a Privileges table and a link table because the PrivilegeGroup table and the Privileges table is a many to many relationship. I am thinking about load all contents of PrivilegeGroup table and Privilege table into memory from database at beginning when application started. I want to save them in a form easily to look up. However, with the vast majority of ratings on the site at 3/5 and the ratings very even across 1-5 we're beginning to suspect that search engine crawlers etc. are getting through. The urls used look like this: http://www.thesite.com/path/to/the/page/rate?uid=abcdefghijk&value=3 When we started we add the following to our robots.txt: User-agent: * Disallow: /rate Is this incorrect or are googlebot and others simply ignoring our robots.txt?
