  Suppose I attach an onblur function to an html input box like this: <input id="myInput" onblur="function() { ... }"></input> Is there a way to get the ID of the element which caused the onblur event to fire (the element which was clicked) inside the function? How? For example, suppose I have a span like this: <span id="mySpan">Hello World</span> If I click the span right after the input element has focus, the input element will lose its focus. How does the function know that it was mySpan that was clicked? PS: If the onclick event of the span would occur before the onblur event of the input element my problem would be solved, because I could set some status value indicating a specific element had been clicked. PPS: The background of this problem is that I want to trigger an Ajax.AutoCompleter control externally (from a clickable element) to show its suggestions, without the suggestions disappearing immediately because of the onblur event on the input element. So I want to check in the OnBlur function if one specific element has been clicked, and if so, ignore the blur event.

• How can I get the dimensions of a drawn string without padding?

  I'm trying to create an image with some text on it and I want the image's size to match the size of the rendered text. When I use System.Windows.Forms.TextRenderer.MeasureText(...) to measure the text, I get dimensions that include font padding. When the text is rendered, it seems to use the same padding. Is there any way to determine the size of a string of text and then render it without any padding? • Crystal Reports Failed Database Login

  Hello, After spending a good 3 to 4 hours on google trying to find any solution to my problem I haven't had much luck. Basically, we use crystal reports for our .NET applications with a sql server back end, we have many clients each with their own server and so our reports need to have their connections dynamically set. Up until a week ago this worked fine. However a few days ago a client reported they were getting a database login prompt for a report (only one report, the rest worked fine). We were quite stumped but we managed to reproduce it on a netbook which didn't have visual studio or sql server installed. In the end the dev decided to reproduce the report in the hope it was just an oddity in that particular report. Unfortunately a new client today also experienced the same problem, but this time for every crystal report they had - and also they worked on the netbook, so we are really quite lost here. • Java Applet not caching

  Hello world, I'm having a problem with a Java applet I've deployed that is refusing to be cached in the jvm's "sticky" cache (or by the browser). For some reason every time a user loads the page this applet is on, the jvm re-downloads the jar file from the server which causes a long delay. The webpage containing the applet is being accessed via the internet, so according to Sun's Java applet documentation I'm using an <applet> tag rather than an <object> or <embed> tag. Any help debugging or identifying the problem would be much appreciated. • Loading and binding a serialized view model to a WPF window?

  Hello all. I'm writing a one-window UI for a simple ETL tool. The UI consists of the window, the code behind for the window, a view model for the window, and the business logic. I wanted to provide functionality to the users to save the state of the UI because the content of about 10-12 text boxes will be reused between sessions, but are specific to the user. I figured I could serialize the view model, which contains all the data from the textboxes, and this works fine, but I'm having trouble loading the information in the serialized XML file back into the text boxes. If yes, can I make the XML_Serialize put it before each tag (without renaming my data structure fields to "mx:something")? • @Autowire strange problem

  Hello, I have a strange behaviour when autowiring I have a similar code like this one, and it works @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2{ ... } The problem is that I need that the Class2 implements an interface so I've only changed the Class2 so it's now like: @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2 implements IServiceReference<Class3, Long>{ ... } public interface IServiceReference<T, PK extends Serializable> { public T reference(PK id); } with this code I get a org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type for Class2. It seems that @ Transitional annotation is not compatible with the interface because if I remove the @Transitional annotation or the "implements IServiceReference" the problem disapears and the bean is injected (though I need to have both in this class). It also happens if I put the annotation @Transitional in the methods instead of in the Class. I use Spring 3.0.2 if this helps. Is not compatible the interface with the transactional method? May it be a Spring bug? Thanks

• 3 Servers, is this is a cluster?

  Hello, At the moment I have one Ubuntu server, 9.10, running with a simple Samba share, a mail server, DNS server and DHCP server. Mostly its just there for file sharing and email server. I also have 2 other servers that are exactly the same hardware and spec as the first, which have an rsync set up to retrieve the shared folders and backs them up. However, if the first server goes down, all of our shares disappear along with our mail and the system must be rebuilt. Also I tend to find if people are downloading a large amount from the file server, no-one can access there emails - especially in the morning when everyone is signing in at once. Would it be more beneficial for me to have all 3 servers, all running the same services, doing the same thing with some sort of cluster with load balancing? I'm not really sure where to begin looking, or how to go about such a setup where 3 servers are all identical, but perhaps one acts as the main load balancer?? If someone can point me in the right direction, or if this simply sounds like one of those Enterprise Cloud's that is now a default setup in Ubuntu Server 9.10+, then I'll go down that route.   Hello Everybody, The company details page in my system has a user control to show the founders of the company, that user control represents the founders by using a Rad Grid and three buttons for insert/edit/delete founders, the founders grid is being bind by using a WCF service. the insert button calls a javascript method that opens a Rad Window in which the user can insert the data for a new founder my problem is: in the Add Founder Rad Window I shouldn't save the new founder in the database, when I press Add the Rad Grid should be closed and the new founder should be added to the founders Grid's datasource, and then the grid should be bind again the questions is: what is the best way to do that, I don't want to use sessions nor json, I tried to use another wcf service which takes two parameters: reference to the grid and the new founder, and in this wcf service I get the old datasource then add the new founder to it and finally rebind the grid again, but I have faced some problems like how can I send the reference to the grid from javascript method to a WCF service, also if I add more than one founder how can keep track of the new founders and the original datasource if any of you can lead me to an example similar to my case this would be very much appreciated, also any comments and feedback are most welcomed

• In iTextSharp, can we set the vertical position of the pdfwriter?

  Hello, I've recently started using iTextSharp to generate PDF reports from data. It works quite nicely. In one particular report, I need a section to always appear at the bottom of the page. I'm using the PdfContentByte to create a dashed line 200f from the bottom: cb.MoveTo(0f, 200f); cb.SetLineDash(8, 4, 0); cb.LineTo(doc.PageSize.Width, 200f); cb.Stroke(); Now I'd like to insert content below that line. However, (as expected) the PdfContentByte methods don't change the vertical position of the PdfWriter. New paragraphs, for example, appear earlier in the page. // appears wherever my last content was, NOT below the dashed line doc.Add(new Paragraph("test", _myFont)); Is there some way to instruct the pdfwriter that I'd like to advance the vertical position to below the dashed line now, and continue inserting content there? There is a GetVerticalPosition() method -- it'd be nice if there was a corresponding Setter :-). // Gives me the vertical position, but I can't change it var pos = writer.GetVerticalPosition(false); So, is there any way to set the writer's position by hand? • Modify Executing Jar file

  Hello Stack Overflow friends. I have a simple problem which i fear doesnt have a simple solution and i need advice as to how to proceed. I am developing a java application packaged as and executable JAR but it requires to modify some of its JAR file contents during execution. At this stage i hit a problem because some OS lock the file preventing writes to it. It is essential that the user sees an updated version of the jar file by the time the application exits allthough i can be pretty flexible as to how to achieve this. A clean and efficient solution is obviously prefereable but portability is the only hard requirement. The following are three approaches i can see to solving the problem, feel free to comment on them or suggest others. Tell Java to unlock the JAR file for writing(this doesnt seem possible but it would be the easyest solution) Copy the executable class files to a tempory file on application startup, use a class loader to load these files and unload the ones from the initial JAR file.(Not had much experience with the classloaders but hopefully the JVM would then be smart enough to realize that the original JAR is nolonger in use and so unlock it) Put a Second executable JAR File inside the First, on startup extract the inner jar to e temporaryfile, invoke a new java process and pass it the location of the Outer JAR, first process exits, second process modifys the Outer jar unincumbered.(This will work but im not sure there is a platform independant way of one java app invoking another) I know this is a weird question but any help would be appreciated.

• Problem with .Contains

  Hello there, I have a little problem which i can't solve. I want to use an SQL-In-Statement in Linq. I've read in this Forum and in other Forums that I have to use the .Contains (with reverse-thinking-notation :-)). As input i have a List of Guids. I first copied them into an array and then did something like that : datatoget = (from p in objectContext.MyDataSet where ArrayToSearch.Contains(p.Subtable.Id.ToString()) select p).ToList(); datatoget is the result in which all records matching the Subtable.Id (which is a Guid) should be stored. Subtable is a Detail-Table from MyData, and the Id is a Guid-Type. I've tried several things (Convert Guid to String, and then using .Contains, etc), but I always get an Exception which says : 'Linq to Entities' doesn't recognize the Method 'Boolean Contains(System.Guid) and is not able to Translate this method into a memory expression. (Something like that, because I'm using the German Version of VS2008) I am using L2E with .NET 3.5 and am programming in C# with VS 2008. I've read several Examples, but it doesn't work. Is it perhaps because of using Guid's instead of strings ? I've also tried to write my own compare-function, but I don't know how to integrate it so that .NET calls my function for comparing.

• Creating and publishing exel file in MOSS 2007 using data from SQL sever.

  Hello, I need help in this matter: We have a template of exel file in which all calculations are already set. User can request a 'report'. Idea is to create a button on our site (SharePoint portal). After clicking on it a new exel file is generated. This means to get actual data from database (SQL server 2005 SP2), import them into template, let all calculations to generate proper data and then allow user to see this file. For now it's enough to publish final exel file in document library. I am quite new in WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 and I need some advice in what can be the best solution. Looks like a quite complex task for me. Is there some direct way how to accomplish this? Or maybe I need one tool to get data from database and to import this data into exel file (SSRS?) and other tool to publish it in document library (MOSS7 Exel services?). I heard something about PerformancePoint Server 2007, is this a way to follow? Thanks forward for any advice!

• Programatic re-evalutation of MVVM command's "can execute" state

  Hello! I'm writing a WPF application using the MVVM pattern, based on the following article: WPF Apps With The Model-View-ViewModel Design Pattern I have two buttons on my View with the buttons' "Command" property bound (with data binding) to a given instance of the RelayCommand class (see "Figure 3 The RelayCommand Class" from the article above). The RelayCommand class has support for checking whether the given command can be executed. WPF automatically disables buttons whose command cannot be executed. Each of my commands (in the ViewModel class) start a background operation, and the command cannot be executed again until the background operation is finished. The RelayCommand instances have information whether the background operation is still working or it is finished. My problem is the following: after pressing the any of the buttons, the buttons automaticaly go disabled (which is OK) because the background operation started and the command cannot be executed until it is finished, but after the operation had finished, the buttons don't go enabled automatically because their command's "can be executed" predicate is not automatically reevaluated. The reevaluation can be manually triggered by having the application loose and regain focus (by pressing ALT+TAB). After doing this trick, the buttons get enabled once again. How can I programatically reevaluate the buttons' command's "can execute" state?

That's not that difficult. The challenge is to find a most generic way to build a class, which serializes/deserializes to and from a byte stream... Pickle, Google protocol buffer, marshal is all not an option. I made little success with having an explicit "def serialize" in my class, but I'm not very happy with it, because it's not generic enough. I hope I could express the problem. • jQuery HOW TO?? pass additional parameters to success callback for $.ajax call ?

  Hello jQuery Ninjas! I am trying, in vain it seems, to be able to pass additional parameters back to the success callback method that I have created for a successful ajax call. A little background. I have a page with a number of dynamically created textbox / selectbox pairs. Each pair having a dynamically assigned unique name such as name="unique-pair-1_txt-url" and name="unique-pair-1_selectBox" then the second pair has the same but the prefix is different. In an effort to reuse code, I have crafted the callback to take the data and a reference to the selectbox. However when the callback is fired the reference to the selectbox comes back as 'undefined'. I read here that it should be doable. I have even tried taking advantage of the 'context' option but still nothing.
