  • Using another browser than w3m for reading HTML helpfiles?

    I'm using fish as shell. The internal help is based on html files and when i type help, it opens w3m to view this help files. Since w3m is not my default browser i wonder where this configuration to start w3m for this is stored. I'd like to read the helpfiles with another browser. How can i setup another one for this purpose or perhaps where are the helpfiles located so i can open them manually in the browser.

    hello all, I am working with images and changing their sizes dynamically from the input I get from the user. when I change the size of the image first time it doesnot reflect the changes when I click the refresh the page using the browser button the change gets reflected and after that tere is no need to click the refresh button Please tell how shall I do it so that there is no need to click the refresh button of the browser ,the changes but get reflected at one shot.     I have started Tightvncserver on Lubuntu 12.04 via the command $ tightvncserver -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 :2 VNC server successfully started and I got message like follows. New 'X' desktop is gateway:2 Starting applications specified in /home/dolv/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/dolv/.vnc/gateway:2.log Then I've successfully loged in from remote PC using realvncclient. Trying to start Chromium-browser from menu... no luck. There was one more attempt: I opened the LXTerminal from menu. Trying to start is from terminal with the command /usr/bim/chromium-browser & it returned the message like follows: Xlib: extention "RANDR" missing on desktop :2 I have also discovered that after my two attampts the chromium-browser has created 2 new windows on the host on which was session running on display :0 The Question: How to make the browser start on that display from which it was called (in my occasion from vnc session display)?

I can't think of any more details, I will be around to provide any extra information Thanks in advance.

    I'm trying to gather some ammunition about my ISP and it's aggressive traffic shaping of particular websites. So I'm looking for an application that will allow me to see what speeds I get to particular websites. I want to open a browser connection to a particular video streaming website for example and see the speed of the connection that gets made, be it http or plain tcp. I'm after something along the lines of TCPView but unfortunately this doesn't include transfer speeds. I'm half tempted to write one myself but hopefully something will already be out there that does the job.

    I am using Linux mint OS since an Year , I use to consistently download updates and install , I use chrome as a default browser , when ever I open youtube and watch some video , I listen to some repetition in sound ( say repeated lyrics of song ) while it is playing , In firefox it is working fine . What is the problem am I missing any plugin , AFAIK Chrome doesn't need a flash player plug in , It has a built in flash player . IS that the problem ? And also previously I was not facing this , recently I started using Cinimon UI centOS after this all these kind of problems started MY hard ware is 64 bit intel core i3 and also I have installed linux mint 64 bit Please let me know what is the problem and how to fix this . CodeMirror has a good syntax highlighting support but does not seem to support auto-completion.   • Preventing a Firefox Extension's load event from triggering across tabs

    Hi, I've been working on a Firefox extension that uses an iFrame to do some background scrapping. I have gone through a number of hoops to get it to trigger only once in the window/tab where it should but now when I open a different tab that tab triggers the load event. This was helpful before but doesn't solve the problem: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Code_snippets/On_page_load More frustrating is that if there is this: https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Listening_to_events_on_all_tabs why should I worry about the normal event listener triggering in more than one tab? Any ideas or examples?

    Hi I am trying when user clicks on one of the images seen here http://techavid.com/design/test.html That the image in background is only thing focused. All icons are greyed out until user clicks and when they do the colored version of the icon is only showing. Currently the color image of each icon appears behind the greyed out version when mouseover not active. Can this be done? thank you, paul

  • Vmware server: Browser does not load user interface

    I have the latest vmware server isntalled on ubuntu 8.04 lts 64 bit. I access the user interface over this url, which matches my ip and port settings: https://10.1.1.99:11222/ui Sometimes it works in fierofox 3.6, but sometimes not. Same in Google Chrome. When it does not work, what happens is that the cert is checked, the browser is loading something, but the result is a white page. Sometimes the favicon of vmware (blue with 3 squares) appears, but only the white page. And sometimes it works. I reload many times, most of the time the whit epage appears again. On some days I succeed. But on many days not. I can give more info if someone tells me what is needed. Please help, we need this badly.

  • Displaying full path of filename in tabs ~ Netbeans 6.8

    I can't seem to find a way in the options to display the full path of the file at the title of the tab. I can hover over it to see it, but it would be nice to see it at a glance. There is a SU question about it also, http://superuser.com/questions/88637/netbeans-how-to-view-file-full-path-in-window-title-or-somewhere-else Does anyone have a solution for this to actually display it? I can see there is a custom .jar for it in the RC2 Netbeans, but that's probably way old now. PS, I should mention that a path relative to the project would be ideal, as well as a full path. Either really :)

By default it seems to use the operating system default browser, but I would prefer to use IE when debugging ASP.net apps. (I am testing this with ASP.net MVC 2)

  • Installed IE8 & SP3 on XP now I can't HTTPS from any browser

    The computer is Windows XP Professional SP3 with IE8. On the Tools Options Connections the "Settings" is GRAYED OUT (I am an admin on the machine) Any browsing of https:// addresses results in IE displaying the following: "this program cannot display the web page" After installing an alternate browser and trying the same https:// address I get a similar error message. I have tried using Compatibility View Settings to for all web pages and this has no effect on the problem. HTTP addresses work fine, I can PING sites such as google.com without issue. Question: What could be preventing me from getting at the settings to check to see if I'm using a proxy? What else could be preventing HTTPS access?

  • How to track my kid's Multi-Browser website history

    My kid is 14, homeschooled and capable computer user. All of her school work is done online; the computer literacy course even uses 3 different browsers, Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I have 2 laptops, running Win7 (one is Pro, the other Home). Is there a way to get all of her browser history in one place? I have to account for 60 minutes of class time per subject per day, but trying to do this across all 3 is getting too complicated. Thanks! PS. My kid and I talk about internet safety and usage regularly and she knows that I monitor where she goes and how long she is there. Secrecy is not an issue.

    How can I switch to the document to the left or right of the current document in Notepad++? For example, if I have documents A, B, and C open, and I'm currently editing B, I would like a shortcut to be able to switch to A (Alt-LeftArrow or Ctrl-Pageup) or C (Alt-RightArrow or Ctrl-PageDown). Is this possible? All I've found is a way to switch to next or previous documents based on the "history" of when the document was last opened (Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab), which are useful, but not what I want.

  • apache httpd cannot browse through browser

    i've setup apache and php on a virtual machine. everything works fine in the virtual machine. im able to execute php files and run up phpmyadmin connecting to mysql. on my host machine, im able ping and ssh into the remote machines. however, im unable to browse the php files on the host browser using the ip address. in my httpd.conf, im listening to port 80. i enabled the ServerName 192.168.75.102:80 am i missing some settings? port settings maybe?
