    I wish to disable loading the plone site if JS is disabled in the browser. Where exactly do I change the code? Which template/skin do I choose? I want to ensure that JS is always enabled while browsing any part of the plone site. While browsing, if JS is disabled, I can redirect to another page with tag to enable the JS in the browser and give a hlink to the site back if it is enabled. I am using Plone 4.1

  • PHP file_get_contents() behaves differently to browser.

    I'm trying to download the contents of a web page using PHP. When I issue the command: $f = file_get_contents("http://mobile.mybustracker.co.uk/mobile.php?searchMode=2"); It returns a page that reports that the server is down. Yet when I paste the same URL into my browser I get the expected page. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Does file_get_contents transmit any headers that differentiate it from a browser request?

  • Why don't we use browser detection and platform-specific CSS?

    Nowadays, the common phenomena is to develop a website for a browser and then corresponding apps for Android phones, iPhone, tablets and so on. Since all the platforms come with a browser, why aren't companies using CSS to accommodate them? Surely we can detect from the request which browser was used and from which platform the request came. Reading those values, why don't we just implement the corresponding CSS for different platforms. Like we do for IE, Chrome and Safari. This way we can use the platforms' browser capabilities and don't need to develop subsequent apps for a platform.

  • Dns works, can ping, but cannot load web pages in browser

    Yesterday I changed routers, and my desktop computer started acting up. I could ping websites, and nslookup was able to resolve names to addresses, but neither chrome, firefox, nor ie could load any webpages. None of my other computers connected to the same wireless router have any problems. I connect my desktop to the router through a cheap wifi dongle. I did a wireshark capture of the browser request, and I have uploaded the pcap here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7AsPdhWc-SwbTV0bUJLQXo4UUE/edit?usp=sharing One strange thing I noticed was the spamming of ssdp packets. I am not super familiar with networking, but it seems that it is not a problem with the router, as dns works, and so does dhcp (the desktop is assigned an address correctly).     I like to play some downloaded Shockwave Flash (.SWF) files without opening my internet browser. Sometime ago, I remember I could do it just double clicking on the SWF item. Then it was opening in a plain Shockwave window. Now XP won't play ball. I tried Folder Options > File types but couldn't find the associated player exe. How can I surpass this? Edit: There has to be some way to do this without a 3rd party software since I can already play SWFs on my browsers.

    Is it possible to use regex to turn this <site-ui:header title="error" backURL="javascript:history.go(-1);" /> into this <site-ui:header backURL="javascript:history.go(-1);" title="error" /> Basically, my goal is to format this xml so that the fields are in alphabetical order (e.g. backURL comes before title), and each field should be tabbed two spaces. If this can be done, any pointers would be really helpful! Even more helpful is an exact regex for vim.

  • Server browser resolves localhost, but not server name

    I have a 2008 R2 server that I recently installed Solarwinds on. It is running IIS V7.5. I got the Solarwinds site loaded into IIS, however I can't resolve it when using the server name. It will however resolve when I put http:// localhost into the browser. I have tried editing the Hosts file to no avail. I have also played around with our DNS server to see if I can figure anything out there. I mess with the bindings in IIS, when I remove the binding for "localhosts" it stops resolving. But still get DNS lookup failed if I add the actual server name to the binding. Any ideas?

    The problem is every time a tab is activated, the cursor jumps to the top of the page, since the tab link points to a div and the page scrolls up to the top of the div. This creates a jumpy effect if the user has scrolled down a bit, while reading tab content. Is there anyway to prevent this?

    Hiya, Does anyone have a table of the default levels of encryption which the various browsers out there support? For instance I know that IE5 and lower struggle even to cope with 40 bit encryption but the latest browsers easily do 256 and beyond. The reason I ask is that I'm looking to get a wildcard certificate for my domain and the price difference is huge between a server gated certificate (where it enforces a minimum of 128bit) and a non-gated certificate (where the browser sets the encryption level). Obviously I like the idea of paying £300 less for the non-gated certificate, but only if I can be sure that the majority of my users (FF3 / Opera / Chrome / IE7+) are going to get good encryption.

    We periodically get complaints of poor GUI (browser page) response that we need to explore. I am looking for a quick and cheap first check to see if the issue is network latency, or server performance. Has anyone encountered any discussion of ping time and perceived GUI response? I understand that GUI response is complicated, but it would be nice if we could find or develop a rule of thumb along the lines of "Hmmmm, ping is over 200, it might be network problems". Ideally, this lives in a script on the user's machine so that we can see the latency that they are seeing... (BASH, Linux). A reference to a good discussion page would be a fine answer, as would any recommendation of other source material.
