  • CSS: Making two transparent images overlapping

    - by Pierre
Hi all, I'm trying to make two transparent images (having the same size/dimension ) overlapping into a div at their top left corner. I tried: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <body> <div style="margin:20px;"> <div id="main" style="overflow:hidden;background-color:red;width:400px;height:400px;border:3px solid blue;"> <img src="myimage1.png" style="position:relative;top:0px;left:0px;z-index:0;"/> <img src="myimage2.png" style="position:relative;top:0px;left:0px;z-index:10;"/> </div> </div> </body> </html> but it doesn't work, the two pictures are concatenated into the parent div. • Comprehensive HTML pages for CSS testing?

    - by yaya3
Looking for example code that uses semantic HTML that I can use to test stylesheets with. The version/doctype is unimportant though HTML5 would be great. By comprehensive I am looking for use of definition lists, forms, tables, plus all the usual. Thanks

  • Coloring text with css using jQuery

    - by ArtWorkAD
Hi, I have a little problem adding a class to a span element and so coloring it in order to perform simple validation. Here is my js: function validateKey(){ var length = $('#appkey').val().length; if(length != 8){ $('#appkey').addClass('error'); $('#appKeyInfo').addClass('error'); return false; }else{ $('#appkey').removeClass('error'); $('#appKeyInfo').removeClass('error'); return true; } } And html: <label>KEY</label></br> <input type="text" id="appkey" value=""/></br> <span id="appKeyInfo">Dein App-Key aus 8 Ziffern</span> And the jsfiddle: example Any ideas? UPDATE: coloring of appKeyInfo fails, coloring appkey works. When I remove color:red and type font-weight:bold instead the text is bold on error. when I remove color definition of appKeyInfo the text can be colored red on error, strange thing, but I need a font color for the appKeyInfo

  • What is the point of CSS collapsing margins?

    - by Tom
The CSS2 box model tells us that adjoining margins collapse. I find it quite annoying, being the source of many design bugs. I hope that by understanding the purpose of collapsing margins, I will understand when to use them and how to avoid them when they are not needed. What is the purpose of this feature?

  • Where to Start with build a personal site and WordPress, CSS and CMS

    - by Simon
Hey guys im in a very confused state of mind at the moment and need some help with Word Press and generally starting a website. My parents have had a business for 20 years and have finally decided to get a website! As im studying IT and Business i said id get it done for them. Rather than design it from scratch i used a template which i bought from themeforest.net (awesome template!) and yesterday a friend mentioned in passing using word press as a CMS which i had never heard of before, and he left before i could ask any questions. SO basically i have a site working on my computer and i have no idea how to get it live as a .com or .com.au, so far as i can see wordpress is a blog with .wordpress.com which isnt what im looking for. Thanks in advance Simon

  • scrolling and css align with "right: 0px"

    - by Gabi
Hello, In an HTML page, if I align some <div>s with "right: 0px", they all look very nice, as I expect. However, if I make the browser window smaller and the horizontal scroll bar appears, when I scroll the page to the right, I see an unexpected white space (instead of the background colors of my <div>s). It seems that my <div>s are aligned relative to the visible area of the page. See the sample code below: <html> <head> <style> <!-- #parent { position: absolute; left: 0px; right: 0px; top: 0px; bottom: 0px; background-color: yellow; } #child { position: absolute; left: 100px; top: 300px; width: 1000px; height: 400px; background-color: blue; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="parent"><div id="child">some text here</div></div> </body> </html> Is there any way to make the "right: 0px" property align the controls relative to the size of the entire page, not only the visible area? Thanks.

  • css height and width problem.

    - by Reigel
Hi, I have this HTML <div class="someClass"> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">1</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">2</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">3</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">4</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">5</a></li> </ul> </div> Problem: I want to make the <a>s to shape like a square, with height = 20px and width = 20px. I can make it have the height and width if I make it float: left. In there the problem occur cause I need the <ul> to be centered but it won't because of the float:left of the <a>. how can I make it centered with fix height and width of the anchors? note: anchors don't have fixed length... the sample is just 5, but it can also grow to 7, or 9. I also need the links to be inline in view.
