    Here is my current log4j settings file. Are these settings ideal for production use or is there something I should remove/tweak or change? I ask because I was getting all my threads being hung due to log4j blocking.   • jQuery UI sortable issue with helper offset value being same as scroll offset on FireFox only

    I have a problem with a jQuery UI 1.7.2 sortable list in Firefox, IE7-8 work fine. When I'm scrolled down a bit, the helper element seems to have an offset of the same height that I'm scrolled down which makes it impossible to see which item you originally started dragging. How do I fix this or work around the issue? If there is no fix what is a really good alternative drag-able plugin?   • In NHIbernate, why does SaveOrUpdate() update the Version, but SaveOrUpdateCopy() doesn't?

    I have a versioned entity, and this is what happens when I use SaveOrUpdate() vs. SaveOrUpdateCopy(): // create new entity var entity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 0 // save the new entity GetNewSession(); entity.SaveOrUpdate(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1 GetNewSession(); // loads the persistent entity into the session, so we have to use // SaveOrUpdateCopy() to merge the following transient entity var dbEntity = Database.GetAll<Entity>(); // new, transient entity used to update the persistent entity in the session var newEntity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); newEntity.SaveOrUpdateCopy(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1, but should be 2 Why is the version number is not updated for SaveOrUpdateCopy()? As I understand it, the transient entity is merged with the persistent entity. The SQL calls confirm that the data is updated. At this point, shouldn't newEntity become persistent, and the version number incremented?

  • Hudson leaving open sessions

    Does anyone have any experiences with Hudson leaving sessions open to a Subversion server? We've been increasing our job list and got ~50 which poll the SCM regularly. It's been working fine but recently our SCM has started acting up by refusing handshakes, which we suspect is down to the sessions left open by Hudson. Last count there were ~400 sessions with nothing building on Hudson. At the moment the only solution we've found is restarting the Subversion service but this is becoming increasingly frequent and not a long term solution. Any experiences/ideas would be appreciated.

  • How to create multiple SOAP webservice clients in same netbeans 6.8 project

    I have a project that is largely just to help one application make connections to an SAP server, for real-time updates. So the first web service client works fine, but I try to create a second and it seems to hang and I expect part of the problem is that it is trying to create a new Service class, but the namespace for all the webservices are identical, but the wsdl is obviously different, so it can't create the client. I can do it manually, by just having Service1, Service2, etc, or making some other change, but the issue is that Netbeans should be able to do this easily. I can't use Eclipse as the wsimport parameters that Netbeans uses works, in Eclipse I would need to do too much to make it work, so I will go with the easier tool. I don't want to create a new project for each webservice, as that just seems to be perpetuating a design error. So, how can I easily create multiple webservice clients that will all have the same target namespace, using Netbeans 6.8+?

    I'm new to MDX and trying to solve the following problem. Investigated calculated members, subselects, scope statements, etc but can't quite get it to do what I want. Let's say I'm trying to come up with the MDX equivalent to the following SQL query: SELECT SUM(netMarketValue) net, SUM(CASE WHEN netMarketValue > 0 THEN netMarketValue ELSE 0 END) assets, SUM(CASE WHEN netMarketValue < 0 THEN netMarketValue ELSE 0 END) liabilities, SUM(ABS(netMarketValue)) gross someEntity1 FROM ( SELECT SUM(marketValue) netMarketValue, someEntity1, someEntity2 FROM <some set of tables> GROUP BY someEntity1, someEntity2) t GROUP BY someEntity1 In other words, I have an account ledger where I hide internal offsetting transactions (within someEntity2), then calculate assets & liabilities after aggregating them by someEntity2. Then I want to see the grand total of those assets & liabilities aggregated by the bigger entity, someEntity1. In my MDX schema I'd presumably have a cube with dimensions for someEntity1 & someEntity2, and marketValue would be my fact table/measure. I suppose i could create another DSV that did what my subquery does (calculating net), and simply create a cube with that as my measure dimension, but I wonder if there is a better way. I'd rather not have 2 cubes (one for these net calculations and another to go to a lower level of granularity for other use cases), since it will be a lot of duplicate info in my database. These will be very large cubes.

    What is the best way to create a custom UIView that I can consume in Interface Builder? Create a custom UIView in Interface Builder and inherit from UIView in a code file, then somehow use it in another UIView ala like a control. (How do I do this?) Create a custom UIView in Interface Builder and have a custom UIViewController wire it up. In my main ViewController, place the new view. Basically, I am trying to create a reusable display view and would like a quick way to change it across all my instances with minimal effort.

    Has anyone found/made any decent color themes for Visual Studio 2010? My VS 2005/2008 themes seem to be getting mangled in the upgrade process. I'm accustomed to using the ever famous Oren Ellenbogen's Dark Scheme featured on Scott Hanselman's blog, but the upgrade process has made it downright butt-ugly. Does anyone have any gems they'd like to share?

  • Selenium RC test - IE gives 403 error on Tomcat app, Tomcat root OK

    I'm new to Selenium RC, having previously used Selenium IDE and only run tests in Firefox. I'm trying to get a basic test to run using Selenium RC through Eclipse; my test works OK in Firefox, and in Safari now that I've killed the pop-up blocker, but IE8 is causing a SeleniumException to be thrown, containing an "XHR ERROR" with a 403 response: com.thoughtworks.selenium.SeleniumException: XHR ERROR: URL = http://localhost:8080/pims Response_Code = 403 Error_Message = Forbidden at com.thoughtworks.selenium.HttpCommandProcessor.throwAssertionFailureExceptionOrError(HttpCommandProcessor.java:97) at com.thoughtworks.selenium.HttpCommandProcessor.doCommand(HttpCommandProcessor.java:91) at com.thoughtworks.selenium.DefaultSelenium.open(DefaultSelenium.java:335) at org.pimslims.seleniumtest.FirstTest.testNew(FirstTest.java:32) ... I can do a similar test on http:/ /localhost:8080 (space between the slashes here because SO thinks I'm spamming) and it's fine - I can make IE open that Tomcat default page and click a link. It's only if I try to open my application at http:/ /localhost:8080/pims that I see this error - and only in IE. I can open that URL in IE by typing it into the address bar. I was convinced that there's some setting in IE that's causing this, but I've tried everything I can think of. http:/ /localhost:8080 is in my Trusted Sites, and I've turned the security for that zone down to the minimum, allowed anything that looks related to popups, etc. If I try adding http:/ /localhost:8080/pims/ to Trusted Sites, IE says it's already there. I've also messed around with proxy settings, to no avail, but may have missed something obvious. I've tried starting the test with *iexplore, *iehta, and *iexploreproxy - all behave the same. Is there something I've missed?   • Installing sSMTP from SSH

    I'm on a Web Hosting Buzz reseller account. They have some very stringent mail sending rules, including blocking of authenticated SMTP socket mail sending using PEAR. It was suggested in WHB forum that this was possible with sSMTP. I've since gotten SSH access and googled how to install sSMTP from SSH: rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm yum install ssmtp However, the first line fails with: Retrieving http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm error: skipping http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error It was a very old thread in WHB forum and the thread poster could not be reached for assistance.   • Python's subprocess.Popen object hangs gathering child output when child process does not exit

    When a process exits abnormally or not at all, I still want to be able to gather what output it may have generated up until that point.     I'm getting a NullPointerException in a Nokia S40. I want to know what is causing this exception. The device shows: NullPointerException java/lang/NullPointerException This error only occurs in the device, running in the emulator the application works fine. I use microlog to debug my application. But the application works fine if the log is enabled. Is there a way to get the stack trace when I get this NullPointerException? I don't need all details like the line number just which method cause this exception. UPDATE: I installed the same application in another Nokia S40 and the same error didn't occur. I think when I enabled the log it made the thread slower and helper.doStuff() was called when I expected it to be called.

  • Sys is undefined

    I have an ASP.Net/AJAX control kit project that i am working on. 80% of the time there is no problem. The page runs as it should. If you refresh the page it will sometimes show a javascript error "Sys is undefined". It doesn't happen all the time, but it is reproducible. When it happens, the user has to shut down their browser and reopen the page. This leads me to believe that it could be an IIS setting. Another note. I looked at the page source both when I get the error, and when not.   • Slug ID's with the same name?

    I want to create slug URL's from a users title in my system. If a user types "The best way's to get slim; period!", then I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period". Also, if someone has already created a page with that title I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period-1". My question is how can I check the database before a record is created? Ok, obviously I am going to have to perform a check in the database, and then a write. That's 2 queries. Is this the normal way to do it? Also, are there any conventional regular expressions for filtering non alpha/number characters and replacing spaces with hyphens? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi, I'm getting this error Attribute {StaticResource StoryboardIntroAnimation} value is out of range when I try and use a staic resource as the Storyboard property of a BeginStoryboard object.   • JSP or .ascx equivalent for Scala?

    I'm working on a small MVC "framework" (it's really very small) in Scala. I'd like to be able to write my view files as Scala code so I can get lots of help from the compiler. Pre-compiling is great, but what I really want is a way to have the servlet container automatically compile certain files (my view files) on request so I don't have to shut down Jetty and compile all my source files at once, then start it up again just to see small changes to my HTML. I do this a lot with .ascx files in .NET (the file will contain just one scriptlet tag with a bunch of C# code inside which writes out markup using an XmlWriter) and I love this workflow. You just make changes and then refresh your browser, but it's still getting compiled! I don't have a lot of experience with Java, but it seems possible to do this with JSP as well. I'm wondering if this sort of thing is possible in Scala. I have looked into building this myself (see more info here: http://www.nabble.com/Compiler-API-td12050645.html) but I would rather use something else if it's out there.

    I'm trying to find a list of TLD's to their corresponding whois server, for example .com americanWhoisServer .net someOtherWhoisServer .au australianWhoisServer In the end i'm aiming for something like a Dictionary where the key is the TLD and the value is the whois server address (eg whois.apnic.net). Ah snap, i just realised that i am given the IP addresses and not domain names but a list could still come in handy. How can i determine which whois server to use given a IP address? Guess and check?
