  • Can't resolve "UnauthorizedAccessException" with MVC 2 application running under IIS7

    We use MVC controllers that access System.File.IO in our application and they work fine in localhost (IIS 6.0-based Cassini). Deploying to IIS7, we have problems getting the controllers to work because they throw UnauthorizedAccessExceptions. We have done the following to try to resolve the issue: - Set NETWORK SERVICE and IUSR accounts to have permission on the files and folders in question - Ensured the App Pool is running under NETWORK SERVICE and loading the user profile - Application is running under full trust - We tried adding impersonation to web.config and giving NETWORK SERVICE write permissions Now, we alternate between getting UnauthorizedAccessException and an IIS7 404 page that suggests the routes are being ignored completely (for example we serve "/favicon.ico" via a controller when the physical file actually lives at /content/images/favicon.ico). We used ProcessMonitor to try to track down the issue but weren't successful.

I am sure that I'm entering information (username,password) that is correct and exists in the database.     Is there any way to archive a Mercurial repository to a remote directory over SSH? For example, it would be nice if one could do the following: hg archive ssh://[email protected]/path/to/archive However, that does not appear to work. It instead creates a directory called ssh: in the current directory. I made the following quick-and-dirty script that emulates the desired behavior by creating a temporary ZIP archive, copying it over SSH, and unzipping the destination directory.   • In WPF RichTextBox, does overriding of Underline/Strikethrough work?

    In a WPF RichTextBox, the effective style of a Run of text is a result of combining the properties defined on the Run with the properties it "inherits" from the enclosing Paragraph and finally the styles on the Document. So you can set FontWeight to Bold at any of those levels. You can also set it Bold on the Paragraph and then switch it to Normal (override it) for a specific Run. However, underline and strikethrough are different. They are items that can optionally appear in a list of TextDecorations, which is a property of Inline (and hence Run) and of Paragraph, but not of Document. And you can switch on Underline in the Paragraph, and it gets inherited so that all Runs within that Paragraph default appear underlined by default. Is it possible to switch it off underline in a specific Run? i.e. is there a way to insert an entry into the list of TextDecorations which would mean "Don't underline", thus overriding the Paragraph's setting?

  • Does throwing an exception in an EvalFunc pig UDF skip just that line, or stop completely?

    I have a User Defined Function (UDF) written in Java to parse lines in a log file and return information back to pig, so it can do all the processing. It looks something like this: public abstract class Foo extends EvalFunc<Tuple> { public Foo() { super(); } public Tuple exec(Tuple input) throws IOException { try { // do stuff with input } catch (Exception e) { throw WrappedIOException.wrap("Error with line", e); } } } My question is: if it throws the IOException, will it stop completely, or will it return results for the rest of the lines that don't throw an exception? Example: I run this in pig REGISTER myjar.jar DEFINE Extractor com.namespace.Extractor(); logs = LOAD '$IN' USING TextLoader AS (line: chararray); events = FOREACH logs GENERATE FLATTEN(Extractor(line)); With this input: 1.5 7 "Valid Line" 1.3 gghyhtt Inv"alid line"" I throw an exceptioN!! 1.8 10 "Valid Line 2" Will it process the two lines and will 'logs' have 2 tuples, or will it just die in a fire?

    Hi all, I am somewhat new to R, and i have this piece of code which generates a variable that i don't know the type for. Are there any introspection facility in R which will tell me which type this variable belongs to? The following illustrates the property of this variable: I am working on linear model selection, and the resource I have is lm result from another model. Now I want to retrieve the lm call by the command summary(model)$call so that I don't need to hardcode the model structure. However, since I have to change the dataset, I need to do a bit of modification on the "string", but apparently it is not a simple string. I wonder if there is any command similar to string.replace so that I can manipulate this variable from the variable $call.   • PJSIP Custom Registration Header (iOS)

    I am attempting to setup SIP communication with an internal server (using the PJSIP library), however, this server requires a custom header field with a specified header value for the REGISTRATION call. For example's sake we'll call this required header "MyHeader". From what I've found, the pjsua_acc_add() function will add an account and register it to the server using a config struct. The parameter "reg_hdr_list" of the config struct has the description "The optional custom SIP headers to be put in the registration request." Which sounds like exactly what I need, however doesn't seem to have any effect on the call itself. Here's what I have so far: pjsua_acc_config cfg; pjsua_acc_config_default(&cfg); //...Some other config stuff related to the server... pjsip_hdr test; test.name = pj_str("MyHeader"); test.sname = pj_str("MyHdr"); test.type = PJSIP_H_OTHER; test.prev = cfg.reg_hdr_list.prev; test.next = cfg.reg_hdr_list.next; cfg.reg_hdr_list = test; pj_status_t status; status = pjsua_acc_add(&cfg, PJ_TRUE, &acc_id); From the server side, there are no extra header fields or anything. And the struct that is used to define the header (pjsua_hdr) has no "value" or equivalent field, so even if it did create the header, how does it set the value?   • C# TCP Async EndReceive() throws InvalidOperationException ONLY on Windows XP 32-bit

    I have a simple C# Async Client using a .NET socket that waits for timed messages from a local Java server used for automating commands. The messages come in asynchronously and is written to a ring buffer. This implementation seems to work fine on Windows Vista/7/8 and OSX, but will randomly throw this exception while it's receiving a message from the local Java server: Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: EndReceive can only be called once for each asynchronous operation.     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult, SocketError& errorCode)     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult)     at SocketTest.Controller.RecvAsyncCallback(IAsyncResult ar)     at System.Net.LazyAsyncResult.Complete(IntPtr userToken)     ... I've looked online for this error, but have found nothing really helpful. The message itself can be any length for this to happen, and the exception can happen right away, or sometimes even up to a minute of perfect communication. I'm pretty new with sockets and network communication, and I feel I might be missing something here. I've tested on at least 8 different computers, and the only similarity with the computers that throw this exception is that their OS is Windows XP 32-bit.

  • What strategy do you use to sync your code when working from home

    At my work I currently have my development environment inside a Virtual Machine. When I need to do work from home I copy my VM and any databases I need onto a laptop drive sized external USB drive. After about 10 minutes of copying I put the drive in my pocket and head home, copy back the VM and databases onto my personal computer and I'm ready to work. I follow the same steps to take the work back with me. So if I count the total amount of time I spend waiting around for files to finish copying in order for me to take work home and bring it back again, it comes to around 40 minutes! I do have a VPN connection to my work from home (providing the internet is up at both sites) and a decent internet speed (8mbits down/?up) but I find Remote Desktoping into my work machine laggy enough for me to want to work on my VM directly. So in looking at what other options I have or how I could improve my existing option I'm interested in what strategy you use or recommend to do work at home and keeping your code/environment in sync. EDIT: I'd prefer an option where I don't have to commit my changes into version control before I leave work - as I like to make meaningful descriptive comments in my commits, committing would take longer than just copying my VM onto a portable drive! lol Also I'd prefer a solution where my dev environment stays in sync too. Having said that I'm still very interested in your own solutions even if they don't exactly solve my problem as best as I'd like. :)

    When using the .ToList() extension method on a Stack<T>, is the result the same as popping each element and adding to a new list (reverse of what was pushed)? If so, is this because it really is iterating over each element, or does it store the elements in reverse internally and slip the array into a new List<T>?

  • Correct permutation cycle for Verhoeff algorithm

    Hello, I'm implementing the Verhoeff algorithm for a check digit scheme, but there seems to be some disagreement in web sources as to which permutation cycle should form the basis of the permutation table. Wikipedia uses: (36)(01589427) while apparently, Numerical Recipies uses a different cycle and this book uses: (0)(14)(23)(56789), quoted from a 1990 article by Winters. It also notes that Verhoeff used the one Wikipedia quotes. Now, my number theory is a little rusty, but the Wikipedia cycle clearly will repeat after the 8th power, while the book one will take 10, despite it saying that s^8=s. Table 2.14(b) has other errors in the 2-cycles, so this is dubious anyway. Unfortunately, I don't have copies of the original articles (and am too tight to pay/disgusted that 40-year old knowledge is still being held to ransom by publishers), nor a copy of Numerical Recipes to check (and am loath to install their paranoia-induced copy protection plug-in to view online). So does any one know which is correct? Are they both correct?

  • Job Opportunities

    I have a few questions about my job opportunities and I appreaciate it if people could give me some feedback on what I should have in front of me. I am graduatating from a University of Wisconsin--La Crosse this December with a degree in CS and a math minor. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.84 and a major GPA of 4.0 right now (though I still have many classes in front of me). I already have a degree from the U of Minnesota (History, 3.69 GPA) and have worked in the business world for 3+ years (working for a small company in the baseball world, doing some computer programming, statistical research, operations work, technical writing, etc.) I know Java and C well, also am comfortable with Perl. I should have a good grasp of SQL by graduation. I am looking to get a nice programming job (and will be open to moving). Anyone have any advice on things I should learn etc? Also, I would like to know what everyone thinks about my chances of landing a decent job (I realize that is subjective). Also, any ideas on salary I should be looking for (say I am working a metropolitan area). Thanks.

    Can Castle ActiveRecord do optimistic locking on properties? I found optimistic locking for the entire class, but not for an individual property. In my case, I need to make it so that adding/removing elements in a collection does not update the version number of the entity (so for example, adding a Product to a Store without changing any of Store's properties will not increment the version number).

  • Optimizing UITableView

    I have a UITableview made up with a custom cell loaded from a nib. This custom cell has 9 UILabel s and thats all. When scrolling the table on my iPhone the tables scrolling motion is slightly jerky, its not as smooth as other tableviews! (On the simulator it scrolls fine but I guess its using the extra power of my mac) Are there any tips to help optimize this or any tableview or methods to help find the bottleneck. Many Thanks

    We have oracle running on Solaris, and the shell is by default CSH. So the login script set the oracle_home,oracle_sid in csh also. But I don't like csh and want to use bash to do my work. So how to source the csh login script in bash? e.g, the following is what in the .cshrc file. And when use bash, I'd like use these variables. One way is to copy the variables again and use bash command, such as export ORACLE_SID=TEST. But doing so will let us to maintain two copy of the files. And when we change the database name, or upgrade the database, I need to maintian the bash login file seperately.   • Help with fql.multiQuery

    I'm playing around with the Facebook API's fql.multiQuery method. I'm just using the API Test Console, and trying to get a successful response but can't seem to figure out exactly what it wants. Here's the text I'm entering into the "queries" field: {"tags" : "select subject from photo_tag where subject != 601599551 and pid in ( select pid from photo_tag where subject = 601599551 ) and subject in ( select uid2 from friend where uid1 = 601599551 )", "foo" : "select uid from user where uid = 601599551"} All it'll give me is a queries parameter: array expected. error. I've also tried just about every permutation I could think of involving wrapping the name/query pairs in their own curly braces, adding brackets, adding whitespace, removing whitespace in case it didn't want an associative array (for those watching the edits, I just found out about these wonderful things now... oy), all to no avail. Is there something painfully obvious I'm missing here, or do I need to make like Chuck Norris Jon Skeet and simply will it to do my bidding? Update: A note to anyone finding this question now: The fql.multiquery test console appears to be broken. You can test your query by clicking on the generated url in the test console and manually adding the "queries" parameter into the querystring.

  • Source Control Checkin Comments at Top Of Source Files

    I've noticed a discrepancy with some source files in our system whereby some contain source-control checkin comments, and some do not. These comments are added automatically to the top of the file when it is checked in: * $Log: //vm1/Projects/Morpheus/Sleep.bdy-arc $ -- -- Rev 1.14 Apr 14 2009 15:32:52 John Smith --Fixed bugs 2292 and 2230. This seems to have been quite prevelant in all the compainies with which I have worked, but I must confess that I struggle to see the point. Generally the comments aren't that good, are ofen left by people who have long since departed, and even when they are of a high standard it is difficult to tie them to physical code changes. It also strikes me, that you are physically changing the file that you are checking in. Now, this may not be such a problem with files that will be compiled, but could be a disaster with others, e.g. JavaScript files. So really, my query is what was the motivation in concept behind providing this functionality in the first instance? Does anyone actually find these comments useful? Also, I would be curious to know if this was feature that is commonly supported within Source Control systems. I am aware of it with PVCS, VSS and Subversion (Subversion Keyword Substitution), however I wonder if it is also available in some of the more popular DVCSs. Your help, as always is much appreciated.
