  • How to access XAMPP virtual hosts from iPad on local network?

    - by martin's
Using XAMPP on one machine. Multiple virtual hosts defined. One per project. Format is .local For example: apple.local microsoft.local client-site.local our-own-internal-site.local All works perfectly from that one machine. I now want to have other systems within the network access the various sites. The main reason for wanting to do this is to be able to test site functionality and layout from mobile devices without having to upload partial work to public servers. I can access the main XAMPP default site by simply entering the IP address of the XAMPP machine in, say, Safari on an iPad. However, there is no way to reach .local that I can see. Would this entail setting up a DNS server within the network? We have a mixture of Windows and Mac machines. No Linux. The XAMPP machine is Vista 64. I don't want real external internet access to be affected in any way, just ".local" pointed to the XAMPP machine if that makes sense.

  • jQuery - draggable images on iPad / iPhone - how to integrate event.preventDefault();?

    - by Tim
    Hello! I use jQuery, jQuery UI and jQuery mobile to build a web application for iPhone / iPad. Now I create images and they should be draggable, so I did this: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>Drag - Test</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0a2/jquery.mobile-1.0a2.min.css" /> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0a2/jquery.mobile-1.0a2.min.js"></script> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.7/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <div> <div style="width:500px;height:500px;border:1px solid red;"> <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9e/JQuery_logo.svg/200px-JQuery_logo.svg.png" class="draggable" alt="jQuery logo" /> <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ab/Apple-logo.png" class="draggable" alt="Apple Inc. logo" /> </div> </div> </body> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".draggable").draggable(); }); </script> </html> Here you can see the live example: http://jsbin.com/igena4/ The problem is, that the whole page want to scroll. I searched in Apple's HTML5 examples and found this to prevent the scrolling of the page, so that the image is draggable: ... onDragStart: function(event) { // stop page from panning on iPhone/iPad - we're moving a note, not the page event.preventDefault(); ... } But the problem is for me, how can I include this into my jQuery? Where do I get event? Best Regards.

  • Is the iPhone/iPad delete "badge" available via the SDK?

    - by skantner
I am creating an app with thumbnail views of my content. I would like to put a "delete" badge in the upper left corner of each thumbnail like the one you see either when deleting apps from the iphone/ipad home screen. It is typically a black circle with an 'X' inside. Is this a badge or image file made available somehow through the SDK? //Scott

  • How to upload a file with JQueryMobile for an iphone/ipad?

    - by JD
Hi, I have just started looking at JqueryMobile and want to know if the following is possible? I want to be able to select a file (similar to in html) and then show some sort of dialogue that allows me to browse to a "folder" and select the file. It would then be up to me to send some sort of AJAX command to upload it to the server (where I am using Asp.net MVC 2) Since I do not have access to an iPhone or iPad, I was told that I would only have access to the documents folder. • Programming Language? - To create a application (eLearning course) that will work on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Touch etc?

    - by Josh
Hi Currently at work I'm helping put together and create eLearning courses within Flash. Our senior programmers have knowledge of how to do this, Although - I would like to know how you could go from converting a eLearning course from Flash into a application for Mac and PC, looking similar to Garageband's music lessons? What programming language was used to create Garageband on Mac? What is the best way to create a application that will work on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Touch etc, Rather then using flash and Actionscript to create online based applications, that will only work in a browser on Mac and PC? Any further tips? Thanks Josh

  • Specs, Form and Function – What am I Missing?

It weighed 29 pounds more than any persons lap could hold.  Then the term “portable computer” meant you could remove it from the building and take it else where.  Today I am typing on this entry on a Macbook Air which weighs 2.38 pounds. This morning Amazons front page main title is: “Much More for Much Less” I was born at the right time to start with the CPM operating system on the Kaypro thru the DOS, Windows, Linux, Mac OSX and mobile phone operating systems and languages.  If you are not aware Technology is moving at a rapid pace.  The New iPad (those who are keeping score – iPad4) is replacing a 7 month old machine the New iPad (iPad 3) I have used and owned many technology devices in my life.  The main point that most of the reader who are in the USA overlook is the fact that we are in the USA.  The devices we purchase have a great digital garden to support them.  The Kaypro computer had a 7-inch screen.  It was a TV tube with two colors – Black and Green.  You could see the 80-column screen flicker with characters – have you every played Pac-Man emulated on the screen with the ABC characters. Traveling across the world you will find that not all apps on your device will function as they did back home because they are not offered outside of your country of origin. I think the main question a buyer of technology should be asking is Function.  The greatest Specs with out function limit you.  The most beautiful form with out function is the same as a crystal vase on your shelf – not a good cereal bowl in the morning. Microsoft Surface RT, Amazon Kindle Fire and Apple iPad all great devices in their respective customers hands. My advice for those looking to purchase on this year:  If the device is your only technology device you buy what you WANT and LIKE. Consider this parallel universe if its not your only device?  Ever go shopping for clothing, shoes, and accessories with your wife, girlfriend, sister or mother?  If you listen carefully you will hear the little voices coming out of there heads saying:  “This goes well with that and I can use it also with that outfit” ”Do you think this clashes with that?”  “Ohh I love how that combination looks on you”.  Portable devices such as tablets and computers can offer a whole lot more when they are combined with the digital echo system you have at home and the manufacturer offers online. Pros of each Device: Microsoft Surface RT: There is a new functionality named SmartGlass which will let you share the content off your tablet to your XBOX 360.  Microsoft office is loaded on the tablet.  You can have more than one user profile on the tablet if you share it with others.   Amazon Kindle or Kindle HD: If you are an Amazon consumer with an annual Amazon Prime service you can consume videos and read books off the Amazon site.  Its the cheapest device.  Its a step up from the kindle reader in many ways.   Apple Ipad or Ipad mini: Over 270 Thousand applications.  Airplay permits you the ability to share to your TV screen. If you are a cord cutter (a person who gets their entertainment content over the web or air vs Cable Providers) the Airplay or Smart glass are a huge bonus.  iPad mini or not: The mini will fit in a purse where the larger one will not.  Its lighter which makes it nice to hold for prolonged periods.  It has an option for LTE wireless which non of the other sub 9 inch tables offer.  The screen is non retina which means the applications are smaller.  Speaking with individuals who are above 50 in age that wear glasses they retina does not make a difference for them however they prefer the larger iPad over the new mini.   Happy Shopping this Channuka Season.   The Kosher Coder.   Follow me on twitter @KosherCoder

  • IOs7 app crashing when in background

    - by Leonardo
My app sometimes crashes when in background and shows the following crash log: Nov 7 12:33:31 iPad backboardd[29] <Warning>: MyApp[3096] has active assertions beyond permitted time: {( <BKProcessAssertion: 0x14680c60> identifier: Called by MyApp, from -[AppDelegate applicationDidEnterBackground:] process: MyApp[3096] permittedBackgroundDuration: 180.000000 reason: finishTask owner pid:3096 preventSuspend preventIdleSleep preventSuspendOnSleep )} Looking through other questions I found out that the crash message indicates that I didn't end a task properly, so when its time expired the OS ended it and crashed my app. So I added some NSLogs: - (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication *)application { [self saveContext]; [Settings setCallLock:YES]; [self saveStuff]; if ([self isBackgroundTaskNeeded]) { UIApplication* app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; bgTask = [app beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler:^{ [self pauseDownloads]; NSLog(@"Debug - Ending background task %d",bgTask); [app endBackgroundTask:bgTask]; NSLog(@"Debug - Background task %d ended",bgTask); bgTask = UIBackgroundTaskInvalid; }]; NSLog(@"Debug - Starting background task %d",bgTask); [self initBackground]; } } and found out that the task was called twice when it crashed: Nov 7 12:30:02 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 7 Nov 7 12:30:30 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 8 ended Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 0 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 0 ended I wasn't able to tell when the double call happens and why. • I need programmatically way to perform fastest 'trans-wrap' of mov to mp4 on iPhone/iPad application

    - by user1307877
I want to change the container of a .mov video files that I pick using  UIImagePickerController and compressed them via AVAssetExportSession with AVAssetExportPresetMediumQuality and  shouldOptimizeForNetworkUse = YES to .mp4 container. I need programmatically way/sample code to perform a fastest 'trans-wrap' on iPhone/iPad application I tried to set AVAssetExportSession.outputFileType property to AVFileTypeMPEG4 but it not supported and I got exception I tried to do this transform using AVAssetWriter by specifying fileType:AVFileTypeMPEG4, actually I got .mp4 output file, but it was not 'wrap-trans', the output file was  3x bigger than source, and the convert process took 128 sec for video with 60 sec duration. I need solution that will run quickly and will keep the file size  please help

  • How to create an iPad directory view like animation?

    - by mahes25
In the recent iOS 4.2 update, Apple introduced a nice animation for creating one level directories. I am trying to figure out how to implement a similar animation in my project. I would deeply appreciate it if anyone could give me any pointers to do this efficiently. From my investigation, I believe this animation or effect could be done very efficiently using Core Image which would allow me to write a custom filter. Unfortunately, Core Image is not available in iPhone. So how can do it? I read a blog post that explained a core animation scheme to create an iPad flip clock. The problem I have is similar but has important differences. Besides, I not excited about saving the subimage combinations, which I believe can cause a memory issue. Please enlighten me on the possible ways of doing this animation. I am relatively new to iOS programming, so I might have missed obvious ways of doing this animation or effect.

  • Looking for software to create a personal hotspot on Mac OS X (not using the built-in ability)

    - by Fred
I got my nifty little MacBook Air today. Since I will be going on travel I was hoping to use my iPad 3G as screen extension with Air Display. It works being in a shared WiFi network. Sadly Apple is a bit restrictive on the tethering with their mobile devices such as the iPad. Now I read iOS 4.3 will enable the iPad to use tethered networks. But the feature will not be working for iPad 3G. I assume their big partner telecom companies fear everyone will quit their internet contract with them. So I want to create a personal hotspot on my MacBook and use it on my iPad. But the iPad is not able to use this network. The network is visible but not usable. On Windows there is this connectify program which lets the PC act as wireless router. Does anybody know a similar program for Mac which would turn it into a wireless router? Or is there something I don't see with Mac OS X's builtin features?

  • how to parse pdf document in iphone or ipad?

    - by JohnWhite
I have implemented pdf parsing application for ipad. But content of pdf display not clearly.I dont know why this happning.can you help me for this problem. Edit: I have used below code for pdf parsing. But text and image is not clear. (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code /* Demo PDF printed directly from Wikipedia without permission; all content (c) respective owners */ CFURLRef pdfURL = CFBundleCopyResourceURL(CFBundleGetMainBundle(), CFSTR("2008_11_mp.pdf"), NULL, NULL); pdf = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfURL); CFRelease(pdfURL); counts+=1; self.pageNumber = counts; self.backgroundColor = nil; self.opaque = NO; self.userInteractionEnabled = NO; } return self; } (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); // PDF page drawing expects a Lower-Left coordinate system, so we flip the coordinate system // before we start drawing. // Grab the first PDF page CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdf, pageNumber); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0, self.bounds.size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1, -1); // We're about to modify the context CTM to draw the PDF page where we want it, so save the graphics state in case we want to do more drawing CGContextSaveGState(context); // CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform provides an easy way to get the transform for a PDF page. It will scale down to fit, including any // base rotations necessary to display the PDF page correctly. CGAffineTransform pdfTransform = CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFMediaBox, self.bounds, 0, true); // And apply the transform. CGContextConcatCTM(context, pdfTransform); // Finally, we draw the page and restore the graphics state for further manipulations! CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, page); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } Please help me solve this problem

  • Send chrome tab from w7 laptop to w7 HTPC? (Like with iPad to AppleTV)

    - by Justin
For the last couple days I've been trying to figure out how to get open tabs syncing between chrome installs on different computers to no avail. (if it's supposed to work the way I think it should, that is.) I have a laptop that I do all my web browsing on. Once in a while I'll come across some video that's worthy of the big-screen and the surround sound and want to open that tab (or media) on the HTPC. It'd be nice if I could just 'Right click Send to HTPC' and it opens up there with no further hassle. But even opening chrome on the HTPC and finding all my current tabs waiting would be fine. Alas, open tabs syncing doesn't seem to actually open tabs on other devices for me. Has anyone come up with a way to accomplish anything similar? Thanks all!

  • Redirecting input to another view

    - by Jon
My application is working fine on the normal iPad display, but I also need to output to VGA out. When I do this, I need to add the view to the external screen's window which seems to mean that I can't use it to accept input from the iPad screen. I want to redirect input from the iPad's window to the window displaying on the external screen. As far as I can tell there's no standard method of doing this. I've tried overriding hitTest on the iPad's window view to send it to the window on the external display, but the coordinates seem to get messed up in the process which makes it nigh unusable. I've also tried subclassing the iPad's UIWindow and catching events in sendEvent, then trying to send them to the external window, but this doesn't seem to work at all. Any help would be appreciated, I'm happy to post any code you would like to see. Thanks, Jon

  • Fitting an Image to Screen on Rotation iPhone / iPad ?

    - by user356937
I have been playing around with one of the iPhone examples from Apple' web site (ScrollViewSuite) . I am trying to tweak it a bit so that when I rotate the the iPad the image will fit into the screen in landscape mode vertical. I have been successful in getting the image to rotate, but the image is larger than the height of the landscape screen, so the bottom is below the screen. I would like to image to scale to the height of the landscape screen. I have been playing around with various autoSizingMask attributes without success. The imageView is called "zoomView" this is the actual image which loads into a scrollView called imageScrollView. I am trying to achieve the screen to rotate and look like this.... olsonvox.com/photos/correct.png However, this is what My screen is looking like. olsonvox.com/photos/incorrect.png I would really appreciate some advice or guidance. Below is the RootViewController.m for the project. • SEO Implications of creating Niche Product Blogs vs Main Company Blog with Categories.

    - by Frank
Our company has a dilemma that I am hoping the users of Pro WebMasters can help us with. Right now as it stands we create a seperate website for each product that we sell. We also have our corporate site which lists each of these brands. For Example: www.Apple.com < --- main company site www.Ipad.com <--- Product www.Iphone.com <--- Product www.Imac.com <-- Product We are looking to build a wordpress blog mainly for the purpose of increasing our SEO rank. Here are our two options: SINGLE BLOG - On Our Corporate Domain http://apple.com/blog Each post is categoried http://apple.com/category/ipad/ipad-5-realeasd.htm Easier to manage than multiple blogs More content since its listing about all our products. ONE BLOG PER PRODUCT - on each site http://ipad.com/blog Each product has its own blog with only its own articles Harder to manage, but does it benefit SEO? Can the team here tell me the SEO benefits of either approach? Similar to Apple all the products our company sells are loosely related. Although its not likely that a customer of product A would be interested in product B.
