  hello to all, my client wants to play a flash video in their website. just to make sure i understand correctly, i need to: 1. create an FLV file 2. use either some flv player or wrap the flv inside swf questions: 1. the player option - will visitor have to download /install it or is it install only once, in the website itself? any FREE player you can recommend the will ensure cross browser compatibility? swf option: will i need the flash application in order to do the wrapping? will i be able to later use something like flashobject library for the actual embedding? what are the main considerations for choosing between the two options , if indeed these are the options? any help would be highly appreciated. have a nice day and let's pray for a lot of goals today :-)

• [SOLVED]Port C's fread(&struct,....) to Python

  Hey, I'm really struggling with this one. I'am trying to port a small piece of someone else's code to Python and this is what I have: typedef struct { uint8_t Y[LUMA_HEIGHT][LUMA_WIDTH]; uint8_t Cb[CHROMA_HEIGHT][CHROMA_WIDTH]; uint8_t Cr[CHROMA_HEIGHT][CHROMA_WIDTH]; } __attribute__((__packed__)) frame_t; frame_t frame; while (! feof(stdin)) { fread(&frame, 1, sizeof(frame), stdin); // DO SOME STUFF } Later I need to access the data like so: frame.Y[x][y] So I made a Class 'frame' in Python and inserted the corresponding variables(frame.Y, frame.Cb, frame.Cr). I have tried to sequentially map the data from Y[0][0] to Cr[MAX][MAX], even printed out the C struct in action but didn't manage to wrap my head around the method used to put the data in there. I've been struggling overnight with this and have to get back to the army tonight, so any immediate help is very welcome and appreciated. Thanks

• Bitmap Confusion Android

  I am getting an image from gallery in onActivityResult() through intent.getdata(). Now i get the data and set it to a bitmap, its size is 716x716 and its setting to full screen. (ImageView's width and height is set to wrap content). Now i created another bitmap after scaling the original through Bitmap.CreateScaledBitmap(orgBitmap,30,30,false); After this, i make sure these things(width,height n size) and they happen as they should be but the problem is that the image is still taking the full screen... rather it should only take 30dp x 30dp. Anyone have an idea what might be the problem??? Thanx

• ViewPager resize height to Content

  ViewPager does not wrap its height to its content. For my layout I need to set the hight then dynamically because it is nested in other layouts. Therefore I created a ScrollView as content of the ViewPager and check its height in onCreate method of the Fragment, but the ScrollView has always the same size. • How to get WordPress Twenty Ten theme sub-menus to expand to their contents (CSS)?

  Hope this isn't "too" niche, because the CSS involved likely applies in other spots. I'm working with the new Twenty Ten theme in WordPress 3 beta/nightlies, and I'd really like it if the drop-down sub-menus (Pages/custom menus) would expand to the width of whatever is in them, rather than wrap the items at 130px. Here's an example page set up that contains nothing but the relevant HTML and the Twenty Ten theme CSS file: http://almostexciting.com/wordpress-twentyten-menu.html I've tried changing the "width" for the link items to a "min-width", which doesn't work - nor does completely removing it. I can't seem to locate any other styles that are constricting the width of the menu items, so I'm a bit desperate for help. Been tearing this thing up in Firebug for too long now.

• WPF: Hidden parent and visible child

  As of last night, I decided to start learning about WPF and have been reading through a number of online tutorials and books. This is a huge shift. One feature that has fascinated me is the implicit property value inheritance. I know in the WinForms world, if a control is not visible then neither are any of the child controls. Same seems to be true in the WPF world, as expected. I wondered if explicitly setting the child control's Visibility property would allow for an invisible parent and visible child and it did not. Is this something that would be possible in WPF? Can you have a container control that is hidden with visible children? This is more an exercise of curiosity than anything. I'm still trying to wrap my head around a lot of what I've been reading.

• What is the .NET attribuet to not compile a method is release mode

  I know that if I have a block of code I don't want compiled when in release mode I can wrap that code block in: #if DEBUG while(true) { Console.WriteLine("StackOverflow rules"); } #endif This will keep this code block from compiling in any mode other than DEBUG. I know there is an attribute that can be placed on an entire method that will do that same, but for the life of me I can't remember what that attribute is. I believe that it’s down the System.Diagnostics namespace, but I'm not really sure. BTW: I'm using .NET 4, but I know this attribute existed in .NET 2 because I have used in in old projects. Thanks

• Core Data produces Analyzer warnings

  Hi I am doing the final touch ups on an app and I am getting rid of every compiler/analyzer warning. I have a bunch of Class methods that wrap my apps access to Core Data entities. This is "provoking" the analyzer. + (CDProductEntity*) newProductEntity { return (CDProductEntity*)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"CDProductEntity" inManagedObjectContext:[self context]]; } Which results in an Analyzer warning: Object with +0 retain counts returned to caller where a +1 (owning) retain count is expected In the method that calls the above Class Method I have this: CDProductEntity *newEntity = [self newProductEntity]; Which results in an Analyzer warning: Method returns an Objective-C object with a +1 retain count (owning reference) Explicitly releasing or autoreleasing a Core Data entity is usually very very bad, but is that what it is asking me to do here? First it tells me it has a +0 retain count and that is bad, then it tells me it has a +1 which is also bad. What can I do to ensure that I am either dealing with a Analyzer hiccup or that I release correctly? Thanks in advance

  hi there, I bumped into a case where I need a big (=huge) python dictionary, which turned to be quite memory-consuming. However, since all of the values are of a single type (long) - as well as the keys, I figured I can use python (or numpy, doesn't really matter) array for the values ; and wrap the needed interface (in: x ; out: d[x]) with an object which actually uses these arrays for the keys and values storage. I can use a index-conversion object (input -- index, of 1..n, where n is the different-values counter), and return array[index]. I can elaborate on some techniques of how to implement such an indexing-methods with reasonable memory requirement, it works and even pretty good. However, I wonder if there is such a data-structure-object already exists (in python, or wrapped to python from C/++), in any package (I checked collections, and some Google searches). Any comment will be welcome, thanks.

  I'm trying my hardest to wrap my head around JavaScript's closures. I get that by returning an inner function, it will have access to any variable defined in it's immediate parent. Where would this be useful to me? Perhaps I haven't quite got my head around it yet. Most of the examples I have seen online don't provide any real world code, just vague examples. Can someone show me a real world use of a closure? • Can you iterate over chunks() with request.POST in Django?

  I'm trying to optimize a site I'm building with Django/Flash and am having a problem using Django's iterate over chunks() feature. I'm sending an image from Flash to Django using request.POST data rather than through a form (using request.FILES). The problem I foresee is that if there is large user volume, I could potentially kill memory. But it seems that Django only allows iterating over chunks with request.FILES. Is there a way to: 1) wrap my request.POST data into a request.FILES (thus spoofing Django) or 2) use chunks() with request.POST data

• Jsonp cross-domain ajax

  I'm working on an application which use ajax call to get html from the server. When I run it on the server, everything works fine. But when I'm running on a localhost, I've a 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' error. I looked arround and it seems like using jsonp could be the solution. So, my ajax call looks like that: $.ajax({ url: url, dataType: 'jsonp', crossDomain: true, type: 'GET', success: function(data){ // should put the data in a div }, error: function(){ //do some stuff with errors } }); I get html from the server, but I always have this error: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < Is there a way to wrap the jsonp response in html?   Given a string of text that is both adjacent to a span and inside of a div, what are some methods to modify just that text, leaving the surrounding HTML intact? For example: <div id="my-div">modify this text<span id="my-span"></span></div> I have tried things like $('#my-div').html(function(i, elem){blah;}); but this seems to cause the span to be deleted and a new span to be added, because some styling is lost. I realize that it would be best to wrap the text string in its own HTML tags before applying client-side code, but that is out of my control.

  Hey, all. I'm doing my own syntax highlighter for Javascript and CSS, and I've run into an issue with Internet Explorer (big surprise). I grab all the contents of a code.block tag (example below) using innerHTML, and .split("\n") that result to get each line by itself. This works wonderfully except in IE. I have tried using innerText and .split("\r\n") also without success. Can anyone recommend a solution?   Say I have a function foo: (defun foo (x y &rest args) ...) And I later want to wrap it with a function bar: (defun bar (x &rest args) (foo x 100 args)) Assume bar was then called like this: (bar 50 1 2 3) With this setup, args is a list within the body of bar that holds the trailing parameters, so when I pass it to foo, instead of getting the equivalent of (foo 50 100 1 2 3) I of course get (foo 50 100 '(1 2 3)). If these were macros, I would use `(foo ,x 100 ,@args) within the body of bar to splice args into the function call. ,@ only works inside a backtick-quoted list, however. How can I do this same sort of splicing within a regular function?

  Hello I'm creating a kind of massive network for users to register and login. I want to try using classes, but I've never used them (expect some mysql-wrappers etc). Could you provide some tips and sample-structure for my project? The idea is to simply have a index.php, which prints the whole page and does all the action. Index.php calls functions from classes inside other files. I need: user-class for checking if logged in and retrieving user-info different kind of "page"-classes for functions needed in those pages I'm not asking for full code, but just a start. I don't know, how to use public functions or anything like that. How to wrap these classes to work together? So no functions, just the structure! Martti Laine

• decode mysql query before returning it to view

  I'm running a query to mysql that returns encrypted data. I'd like, if possible, to decode the results before sending it to the view. It seems like better form to handle the decoding in the controller (or even the model) rather than inside the view. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to do it, though. I was thinking I could iterate through the object, decodode it, and push it to another array that would be sent to the view. Problem with this is I won't know (and need to keep) the indexes of the query. • What's a good way to throw and handle events in PHP?

  Hi everyone, I am just trying to get a general idea about the event prcessing mechanism in PHP5 in as neat way as possible. First of all I understand that a PHP application is not exactly a persistent type, so the events may not make a lot of sense, but from the OO perspective it might be a very elegant way to "communicate" between the objects. So I am thinking that it would make sense to separate the events on the external events, such as $_POST & $_GET and the internal ones, i.e. function callbacks. As far as the external ones, is it a good idea to process the $_GETs and $_POSTs directly, or is it better to wrap them into an event of some sort? Also, in order to process the internal events, do you have to pass the reference to the event handler/dispatcher to each class so they know how to throw them? I was thinking to use the PEAR EventDispatcher to do the work, but I am open to other suggestions. Thank you!

  I need to define a data structure recursively in Javascript. Here is a simple example of a circular linked list: // List a very simplified example of what the actual (non list) code does. function List(f, r) { return function(){ return [f, r]; }; } var head = List('a', List('b', List('c', head))); When this is executed, head in List 'c' is resolved to undefined, not List 'a' as I need. List is an example function that returns a function (It is not an Javascript list that I can append to). I tried to wrap the definition of head is a self executing named function, but that blew the stack when head was resolved. What is the Javascript style solution that I am overlooking?

• Anonymous iterators blocks in Clojure?

  I am using clojure.contrib.sql to fetch some records from an SQLite database. (defn read-all-foo [] (let [sql "select * from foo"] (with-connection *db* (with-query-results res [sql] (into [] res))))) Now, I don't really want to realize the whole sequence before returning from the function (i.e. I want to keep it lazy), but if I return res directly or wrap it some kind of lazy wrapper (for example I want to make a certain map transformation on result sequence), SQL bindings will be gone after I return, so realizing the sequence will throw an error. How can I enclose the whole function in a closure and return a kind of anonymous iterator block (like yield in C# or Python)? Or is there another way to return a lazy sequence from this function?

• C# : Redirect console application output : How to flush the output?

  I am spawning external console application and use async output redirect. as shown in this SO post My problem is it seems that the spawned process needs to produce certain amount of output before I get the OutputDataReceived event notification. I want to receive the OutputDataReceived event as soon as possible. I have a bare-bones redirecting application, and here are some observations: 1. When I call a simple 'while(true) print("X");' console application (C#) I receive output event immediately. 2. When I call a 3d party app I am trying to wrap from the command line I see the line-by-line output. 3. When I call that 3d party app from my bare-bone wrapper (see 1) - the output comes in chunks (about one page size). What happens inside that app? FYI: The app in question is a "USBee DX Data Exctarctor (Async bus) v1.0".
