• jquery accessing dynamic class selectors

    - by dinotom
Given the following html rendering; <fieldset id="fld_Rye"> <legend>7 Main St.</legend>

Service Description

Service Name

Contact Name

<ItemTemplate>

Plumbing Services

Flynnsters's Plumbing

Jim Flynnster

</ItemTemplate> I am trying to access all the td's with a class of servDesc, get their width into an array and get the max width from that array to reset the css width of that class using jquery on page load. I cant seem to get the right selector for those tags, and I've tried at least 50 variations. My latest try; var maxTdWidth; var servDescCols = []; $("#fld_Rye td#servDesc").each(function () { alert("found one"); servDescCols.push(this.width()); }); maxTdWidth = Math.max.apply(Math, servDescCols);

  • iPhone settings not honoured

    - by winsmith
My iPhone app has the following problem: Freshly installed, when I read out my "Play Sound" preference with the following code: defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"Play Sounds? %d", [defaults boolForKey:@"play_sounds_preference"]); The setting always reads out as false, even though the default setting is set to true. Any ideas? Here is my Root.plist: <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>StringsTable</key> <string>Root</string> <key>PreferenceSpecifiers</key> <array> <dict> <key>Type</key> <string>PSGroupSpecifier</string> <key>Title</key> <string>General Settings</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Type</key> <string>PSToggleSwitchSpecifier</string> <key>Title</key> <string>Sounds</string> <key>Key</key> <string>play_sounds_preference</string> <key>DefaultValue</key> <true/> </dict> </array> </dict> </plist> When the user opens the Settings.app and navigates to my app's name, THEN the setting reads out as true, even if the user doesn't change anything.

  • Obtaining XML from U.S. Postal Service (USPS) rate calculator API with PHP

    - by Chris F
hoping somebody here can help me. I'm attempting to pull an XML page from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) rate calculator, using PHP. Here is the code I am using (with my API login and password replaced of course): <? $api = "http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll?API=RateV4&XML=<RateV4Request ". "USERID=\"MYUSERID\" PASSWORD=\"MYPASSWORD\"><Revision/><Package ID=\"1ST\">". "<Service>FIRST CLASS</Service><FirstClassMailType>PARCEL</FirstClassMailType>". "<ZipOrigination>12345</ZipOrigination><ZipDestination>54321</ZipDestination>". "<Pounds>0</Pounds><Ounces>9</Ounces><Container/><Size>REGULAR</Size></Package></RateV4Request>"; $xml_string = file_get_contents($api); $xml = simplexml_load_string($xml_string); ?> Pretty straightforward. However it never returns anything. I can paste the URL directly into my browser's address bar: http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll?API=RateV4&XML=<RateV4RequestUSERID="MYUSERID" PASSWORD="MYPASSWORD"><Revision/><Package ID="1ST"><Service>FIRST CLASS</Service><FirstClassMailType>PARCEL</FirstClassMailType><ZipOrigination>12345</ZipOrigination><ZipDestination>54321</ZipDestination><Pounds>0</Pounds><Ounces>9</Ounces><Container/><Size>REGULAR</Size></Package></RateV4Request> And it returns the XML I need, so I know the URL is valid. But I cannot seem to capture it using PHP. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • generateUrl problem

    - by Daniel Hertz
I am trying to generate a url but I keep getting a strange warning even though it works. I am making an api xml page and I use the following call in the controller: public function executeList(sfWebRequest $request) { $this->users = array(); foreach($this->getRoute()->getObjects() as $user) { $this->users[$this->generateUrl('user_show', $user, true)] = $user->asArray($request->getHost()); } } The user_show route is as follows: # api urls user_show: url: /user/:nickname param: { module: user, action: show } And the xml outputs as follows:
Warning: array_diff_key() [function.array-diff-key]: Argument #1 is not an array in /opt/local/lib/php/symfony/routing/sfRoute.class.php on line 253

Warning: array_diff_key() [function.array-diff-key]: Argument #1 is not an array in /opt/local/lib/php/symfony/routing/sfRoute.class.php on line 253

Warning: array_diff_key() [function.array-diff-key]: Argument #1 is not an array in /opt/local/lib/php/symfony/routing/sfRoute.class.php on line 253
<users> <user url="http://krowdd.dev/frontend_dev.php/user/danny">
<nickname>danny</nickname>

</user> <user url="http://krowdd.dev/frontend_dev.php/user/adrian">
<nickname>adrian</nickname> </user> </users> So it outputs the correct xml but I do not know why it throws thows warning when calling the generateurl method. • CSS selector not resolved when using UI Binder

    - by Zhaidarbek
    Basically, I am building a horizontal navigation bar. I have following markup: <ui:style src="../common.css" type="client.resources.HomeResources.Style"> @external gwt-Anchor; .gwt-Anchor { text-decoration: none; } </ui:style> <g:HTMLPanel styleName="navbar">

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |

<g:Anchor ></g:Anchor>

common.css has following rules: ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: left; font-weight: bold; line-height: 25px; } ul li { display: inline; text-align: right; } ul li a { color: #0077C0; font-size: 12px; margin-right: 15px; padding: 4px 0 4px 5px; text-decoration: none; } ul li a:HOVER { color: #F0721C; } When using rules as defined above, everything works perfect. The problem is that I have ul elements in other parts of page, so I've added div.navbar before each rule like this: div.navbar ul{} div.navbar ul li{} etc... But those rules are not applied to ul elements inside UI Binder template. What's wrong with my code? Here is the generated HTML (normally on one line):

Item 1 |

Item 2 |

Item 3

RESOLVED styleName="navbar" must be styleName="{style.navbar}"

  • How to make a table, which is wider than screen size, scrollable and keep header row fixed?

    - by understack
I've a table with 2 columns and each column is 800px wide. I want to show this table in 800x50 window. So there should be horizontal and vertical scrollbar to view complete table. While I've found few related solutions (this and this) on SO, they only work if table width is smaller than screen size. In my case screen size is 1200px and total table width is 1600px. How could I do this? i want to achieve something like this. EDIT Oops, I forgot to add one more requirement. Sorry. I want the header of the table to remain fixed while user scrolls table. EDIT2 I've tried below mentioned solutions to wrap in a div, but in this case vertical scrollbar doesn't show up. Please see this table with wrapper div. It seems this problem only occurs if table width is bigger than screen size. I'm testing on FF3.6. EDIT3 current table code:

id_1

id_1

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

1200

  • Spacing differences between IE7 and Firefox/Opera/Chrome

    - by user306940
I have an ongoing issue with the amount of vertical space of unordered lists in IE7 vs. Firefox/Chrome/Opera and I can't seem to find a solution out there. In IE7, the space is less and what I would like to see. In Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, the space between is about twice as much. I can't account for any of the spacing issues in my code or page. On my page, the code looks like this:

SUPPORT LINKS

User Training

FAQ

Logon Assist. Center

Fax Us

Call Us

General Feedback

  My CSS for this section looks like this: #sidebox_bod { width: 200px; margin: 0 30px 0 0; padding: 0; background: url('../img/supbxbod.gif'); background-repeat:repeat-y; background-position:bottom; } #sidebox_bod ul { list-style-image:url('../triangle.gif'); text-align:left; padding: 0 0 0 30px; margin: 0; } #sidebox_bod ul li a { font-size: 13px; } Any idea what I can do to try to have the vertical spacing the same across all browsers? I would prefer to have the IE7 look to try to fix this. Thanks.

  • Selecting an element based on text and attribute of its sibling, using Xpath

    - by Adam Asham
Looking at the document, the goal is to select the second cell from the second row, in the first table. I've created the following expression: //row/td[2]/text()[td[@class="identifier"]/span[text()="identifier"]] but it does not return any rows. Unfortunately I do not see what's wrong. To me, it looks alright. The expression should: select the text in the second cell in any row where the text of a span equals to "identifier" and the span is located in cell with a "identifier" class I'd appreciate it if you could point out what I'm doing wrong. Sample XML document:

row 1, cell 1

row 1, cell 2

identifier

foo ignore bar

row 3, cell 1

row 3, cell 2

row 1, cell 1

row 1, cell 2

not an identifier

not a target

row 3, cell 1

row 3, cell 2

Because of that existing Prepared Statements are removed from the pool of cached Prepared Statements. How to overcome this issue? I have to use idle-timeout-minutes because MySQL server closes the connection after 8h

  • XPATH: multiple negations in for-each

    - by Peter
    I have the following simplified XML:  <MATMAS05> <IDOC BEGIN="1"> <E1MARAM SEGMENT="1"> <MSGFN>005</MSGFN> <MATNR>000000000000401436</MATNR> <E1MARCM SEGMENT="1"> <MSGFN>005</MSGFN> <WERKS>A120</WERKS> <MMSTA>01</MMSTA> </E1MARCM> <E1MVKEM SEGMENT="1"> <VKORG>0120</VKORG> <VMSTA>04</VMSTA> </E1MVKEM> </E1MARAM> </IDOC> </MATMAS05> If <WERKS>=A120 and <MMSTA> is NOT '01' or '02' or '03' OR if <VKORG>=0120 and <VMSTA> is NOT '01' or '02' or '03' then the <MATNR> should be mapped to the target XML. I came up with the following XSLT:  <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> <xsl:output encoding="UTF-8" method="xml" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/*"> <xsl:for-each select="IDOC[(E1MARAM/E1MVKEM[VKORG='0120'][not(VMSTA='01' or VMSTA='02' or VMSTA='03')]) or (E1MARAM/E1MARCM[WERKS = 'A120'][not(MMSTA='01' or MMSTA='02' or MMSTA='03')])]">
<ITEM_CODE> <xsl:value-of select="E1MARAM/MATNR"/> </ITEM_CODE>
</xsl:for-each> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> But if I apply that XSLT I get the following unwanted output (because <MMSTA>='01'):
<ITEM_CODE>000000000000401436</ITEM_CODE>
How can I solve this? I have tried around with that XPATH expression but I can't get the wanted result. What am I doing wrong in my XPATH? Thank you for any ideas with this. Best regards, Peter

  • Sort/Group XML data with PHP?

    - by Volmar
I'm trying to make a page using data from the discogs.com (XML)-API. i've been parsing it with simpleXML and it's working pretty well but there is some things i'm not sure how to do. Here is part of the XML: <releases> <release id="1468764" status="Accepted" type="Main">
Versions
<format>12", EP</format> Not On Label <year>1999</year> </release> <release id="72246" status="Accepted" type="Main">
The M.O.F Blend
<format>LP</format> Blenda Records <year>2002</year> </release> <release id="890064" status="Accepted" type="Main">
The M.O.F Blend
<format>CD</format> Blenda Records <year>2002</year> </release> <release id="1563561" status="Accepted" type="TrackAppearance">
Ännu En Gång Vol. 3
<trackinfo>Backtrack</trackinfo> <format>Cass, Comp, Mix</format> Hemmalaget <year>2001</year> </release> </releases> What i want to achieve is something similair to how discogs presents the releases: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mics+Of+Fury where diferent versions of the same release are sorted together. (see. The M.O.F Blend in my link) This is done on discogs with having a master release that features the other releases. unfortunately this information isn't present in the API data, so i want to do the same thing by grouping the <release>-nodes with the same
-tags, or add a flag to the <releases> that don't have a unique
? any good ideas on the best way of doing this? i also like to know if it's possible to count the <release>-nodes (child of releases) that have the same type-attribute? like in this example count the releases with the type "Main"? maybe it's better to do this things with XMLReader or XPath?

  • Why the vertical scroll bar moves automatically ?

    - by Misha Moroshko
I don't understand why the vertical scroll bar moves automatically to the most top position when "Line 9" clicked, for example. Further clicks does not move the scroll bar. Could anyone explain why, and how to fix this ? I work with Firefox 3.6.3.

Line 0

Line 1

Line 2

Line 3

Line 4

Line 5

Line 6

Line 7

Line 8

Line 9

$(document).ready(function() { $(".column1").each(function(index) { $(this).after("
Details " + index + "
"); $(this).toggle(function() { $("[row='" + index + "'] .column2").fadeIn("fast") }, function() { $("[row='" + index + "'] .column2").fadeOut("fast") }); }); }); div { overflow: auto; height: 100px; width: 300px; border: 1px solid blue; } .column1 { cursor: pointer; } .column2 { display: none; }

  • Can first descendent be selected directly?

    - by Ben Huh
I am currently using find() and first() method to select the first descendent element from each of the
elements that contains the parent class. But I find this quite cumbersome since find() method would produce a set of matched elements before the first element is being picked. The following is the skeleton of my code: HTML

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

// .....the list continues Javascript $('.parent').each(function() { $(this).find('ul li').first().css('color', 'red'); // do other stuff within each loop }); I have seen people using $(".parent li:first") selector. But, because I am doing it in a loop, I am not sure how or whether if this could be done and would like some advice. Thanks.

  • Change the default Icon on your jQuery UI Accordion

    - by hajan
I've got this question in one of my previous blogs posted here (the same blog is posted on codeasp.net too), dealing with jQuery UI Accordion and I thought it's nice to recap this in a blog post so that I will have it documented for further reference. In the previous blog, I'm creating tabs content navigation using jQuery UI Accordion. So, it's quite simple code and all I do there is calling accordion() function. The default image icons for each item is the arrow. The accordion uses the right arrow and down arrow images. So, what we should do in order to change them? JQuery UI Accordion contains option with name icons that has header and headerSelected properties. We can override them with either the existing classes from jQuery UI themes or with our own. 1. Using existing jQuery UI Theme classes - Open the follownig link: http://jqueryui.com/themeroller/#icons You will see the icons available in the jQuery UI theme. Mouse over on each icon and you will see the class name for each icon. As you can see, each icon has class name constructed in the following way: ui-icon-
All icons in one image - In our example, I will use ui-icon-circle-plus and ui-icon-circle-minus (plus and minus icons). - Lets set the icons From the code above, you can see that I first intialize the accordion plugin, and after I override the default icons with the ui-icon-circle-plyus for header and ui-icon-circle-minus for headerSelected. Here is the end result: So, now you see we have the plus/minus circle icons for the default header state and the selected header state. 2. Add my own icons - If you want to add your own icons, you can do that by creating your own custom css classes. - Lets create classes for both, the header default state and header selected state As you can see, I use my own images placed in images/icons/ folder - default icon - selected icon One very important thing to note here is the !important key added on each background-image property. It's like that in order to give highest importancy to our image so that the default jQuery UI theme icon images will have less importancy and won't be used. And the jQuery code is: Note: For both #1 and #2 cases, we use the class names without adding . (dot) at the beginning of the name (as we do with selectors). That's because the the header and headerSelected properties accept classes only as a value, so the rest is done by the plugin itself. The complete code with my own custom images is:

jQuery Accordion

                              Product 1

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. • Using CSS3 media queries in HTML 5 pages

    - by nikolaosk
This is going to be the seventh post in a series of posts regarding HTML 5. You can find the other posts here , here , here, here , here and here. In this post I will provide a hands-on example on how to use CSS 3 Media Queries in HTML 5 pages. This is a very important feature since nowadays lots of users view websites through their mobile devices. Web designers were able to define media-specific style sheets for quite a while, but have been limited to the type of output. The output could only be Screen, Print .The way we used to do things before CSS 3 was to have separate CSS files and the browser decided which style sheet to use. Please have a look at the snippet below - HTML 4 media queries

?he browser determines which style to use. With CSS 3 we can have all media queries in one stylesheet. Media queries can determine the resolution of the device, the orientation of the device, the width and height of the device and the width and height of the browser window. We can also include CSS 3 media queries in separate stylesheets. In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School. Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor. Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr. In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like. You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here. Before I go on with the actual demo I will use the (http://www.caniuse.com) to see the support for CSS 3 Media Queries from the latest versions of modern browsers. Please have a look at the picture below. We see that all the latest versions of modern browsers support this feature. We can see that even IE 9 supports this feature. Let's move on with the actual demo. This is going to be a rather simple demo.I create a simple HTML 5 page. The markup follows and it is very easy to use and understand. This is a page with a 2 column layout.

HTML 5, CSS3 and JQuery

Learn cutting edge technologies

HTML 5, JQuery, CSS3

HTML 5

HTML5 is the latest version of HTML and XHTML. The HTML standard defines a single language that can be written in HTML and XML. It attempts to solve issues found in previous iterations of HTML and addresses the needs of Web Applications, an area previously not adequately covered by HTML.

Do More with Less

jQuery is a fast and concise JavaScript Library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development.

The HTML5 test(html5test.com) score is an indication of how well your browser supports the upcoming HTML5 standard and related specifications. Even though the specification isn't finalized yet, all major browser manufacturers are making sure their browser is ready for the future. Find out which parts of HTML5 are already supported by your browser today and compare the results with other browsers. The HTML5 test does not try to test all of the new features offered by HTML5, nor does it try to test the functionality of each feature it does detect. Despite these shortcomings we hope that by quantifying the level of support users and web developers will get an idea of how hard the browser manufacturers work on improving their browsers and the web as a development platform.

CSS 3 Intro

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation semantics (the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can also be applied to any kind of XML document, including plain XML, SVG and XUL.

CSS 3 Purpose

CSS is designed primarily to enable the separation of document content (written in HTML or a similar markup language) from document presentation, including elements such as the layout, colors, and fonts.[1] This separation can improve content accessibility, provide more flexibility and control in the specification of presentation characteristics, enable multiple pages to share formatting, and reduce complexity and repetition in the structural content (such as by allowing for tableless web design).

Feel free to google more about the subject

The CSS code (style.css) follows body{ line-height: 30px; width: 1024px; background-color:#eee; } p{ font-size:17px; font-family:"Comic Sans MS" } p,h2,h3,h4{ margin: 0 0 20px 0; } #main, #header, #footer{ width: 100%; margin: 0px auto; display:block; } #header{ text-align: center; border-bottom: 1px solid #000; margin-bottom: 30px; } #footer{ text-align: center; border-top: 1px solid #000; margin-bottom: 30px; } .quote{ width: 200px; margin-left: 10px; padding: 5px; float: right; border: 2px solid #000; background-color:#F9ACAE; } .quote :last-child{ margin-bottom: 0; } #main{ column-count:2; column-gap:20px; column-rule: 1px solid #000; -moz-column-count: 2; -webkit-column-count: 2; -moz-column-gap: 20px; -webkit-column-gap: 20px; -moz-column-rule: 1px solid #000; -webkit-column-rule: 1px solid #000; } Now I view the page in the browser. Now I am going to write a media query and add some more rules in the .css file in order to change the layout of the page when the page is viewed by mobile devices. @media only screen and (max-width: 480px) { body{ width: 480px; } #main{ -moz-column-count: 1; -webkit-column-count: 1; } } I am specifying that this media query applies only to screen and a max width of 480 px. If this condition is true, then I add new rules for the body element. I change the number of columns to one. This rule will not be applied unless the maximum width is 480px or less. As I decrease the size-width of the browser window I see no change in the column's layout. Have a look at the picture below. When I resize the window and the width of the browser so the width is less than 480px, the media query and its respective rules take effect. We can scroll vertically to view the content which is a more optimised viewing experience for mobile devices. Have a look at the picture below Hope it helps!!!!
