  • Hide ul when lost focus in JQuery..

    - by Ramesh Vel
    Hi, I am trying to hide the sub menu items(ul) when it lost focus.. my structure looks something like this <div id="ActionDiv" style="border-color: #0099d4; width: 120px; height: 100%"> <ul> <li><a href="#"><span id="ActionHeader">Action &nbsp; <em> <img src="images/zonebar-downarrow.png" alt="dropdown" /> </em></span></a> <ul> <li><a href="javascript:TriggerAction(1)">Send Email</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:TriggerAction(1)">Invite to chat</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:TriggerAction(1)">Consider For Opp</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> In JQuery i have used focusout event to handle the lost focus. $("#ActionDiv>ul>li>ul").focusout(function() { $("#ActionDiv>ul>li>ul").hide(); }); But the above code is not working. can anyone recommend a way to handle the lost focus event in the ul. Cheers

  • HREF link that targets nothing, does not want to use hash or void(0)

    - by Mattis
    I have a link that I want to be able to click to trigger a piece of jQuery code. Currently I have <a href="#" id="foo">Link</a> and $('#foo').click(function(){ // Do stuff }); which works well. But, I have always hated using hash in this way. The page flickers and the hash is added to the page url. One alternative is to use <a href="javascript:void(0);" id="foo">Link</a> but I also dislike seeing that piece of code in the browser status bar. It looks tacky. What I'd rather have is an explanatory javascript placeholder that does nothing, like <a href="javascript:zoom();" id="foo">Link</a> which actually works, but throws an ReferenceError in the javascript console since there are no such function. What's the minimum definition of a function that does nothing? Are there any other alternatives? Should I just skip the link and use something like <span id="foo" style="cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;">Link</span> instead?

  • jQuery code works for console but not in-page.

    - by justSteve
    I have a form element defined as: <div class="field"> <div class="name"> <label for="User_LastName"> Last name: <span class="asterisk">*</span></label> </div> <div class="value"> <%= Html.TextBox("User.LastName", Model.LastName)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("User.LastName")%> </div> </div> and a jQuery selector that is supposed to detect when the input gets focus and highlight the parent: $("input").focus(function() { //watching for an event where an input form comes into focus $(this) .parent() .addClass("curFocus") .children("div") .toggle(); }); If i paste this code into firebug's console - things work as planned. However, i'm running this from a 'RenderPartial' .net mvc page. Other jQuery code sitting within the same $(document).ready(function() { block work correctly. The form uses html helpers to generate the inputs which might complicate the process somewhat - but even so... i'm seeing correct behavior when that code's in console but not in a 'real-time' page. How do i troubleshoot this?

  • Hide All But First Matching Element

    - by Batfan
    I am using jquery to sort through multiple paragraphs. Currently I have it set to show only paragraphs that start with a current letter. But now, I would like to consolidate further. If the text between the paragraph tags has multiple instances, I would like all but the first hidden. This is what I have so far but, it is not working. var letter = '<?php echo(strlen($_GET['letter']) == 1) ? $_GET['letter'] : ''; ?>' function finish(){ jQuery('p').each(function(){ if(jQuery(this).text().substr(0,1).toUpperCase() == letter){ jQuery(this).addClass('current-series'); jQuery(this).html(letter + '<span class="hidden">'+jQuery(this).text().slice(1)+ '</span>'); } else{ jQuery(this).hide();} }) } Update: Sorry guys, I know this is kind of hard to explain. Here's a basic example: The selected letter is B The values returned are: Ball Ball Ball Boy Brain Bat Bat Each of these values is in a paragraph tag. Is there a way to consolidate to this? Ball Boy Brain Bat

  • How do I get 2-way data binding to work for nested asp.net Repeater controls

    - by jimblanchard
    I have the following (trimmed) markup: <asp:Repeater ID="CostCategoryRepeater" runat="server"> <ItemTemplate> <div class="costCategory"> <asp:Repeater ID="CostRepeater" runat="server" DataSource='<%# Eval("Costs")%>'> <ItemTemplate> <tr class="oddCostRows"> <td class="costItemTextRight"><span><%# Eval("Variance", "{0:c0}")%></span></td> <td class="costItemTextRight"><input id="SupplementAmount" class="costEntryRight" type="text" value='<%# Bind("SupplementAmount")%>' runat="server" /></td> </tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> The outer repeater's DataSource is set in the code-beside. I've snipped them, but there are Eval statements that wire up to the properties in the outer Repeater. Anyway, one of the fields in the inner Repeater needs to be a Bind instead of an Eval, as I want to get the values that the user types in. The SupplementAmount input element correctly receives it's value when the page loads, but on the other side, when I inspect the contents of the Costs List when the form posts back, the changes the user made aren't present. Thanks.

  • Why is IE8 on XP not properly reading from XML using JQuery?

    - by dking
    Given this XML in data.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <data> <bar>100</bar> </data> I want to display the content from the "bar" element using the following code in test.html <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> $.get('data.xml', function(xml) { var foo = $(xml).find('bar').text(); document.write("<span>foo: [" + foo + "]</span>"); }); </script> </body> </html> The output in webkit based browsers: foo: [100] The output in IE8 on XP: foo: [] Why do webkit browsers read the element's content correctly while IE8 interprets it as an empty string?

  • Improve a regex statement in order to be as efficient as it can be

    - by user551625
    I have a PHP program that, at some point, needs to analyze a big amount of HTML+javascript text to parse info. All I want to parse needs to be in two parts. Seperate all "HTML goups" to parse Parse each HTML group to get the needed information. In the 1st parse it needs to find: <div id="myHome" And start capturing after that tag. Then stop capturing before <span id="nReaders" And capture the number that comes after this tag and stop. In the 2nd parse use the capture nº 1 (0 has the whole thing and 2 has the number) from the parse made before and then find . I already have code to do that and it works. Is there a way to improve this, make it easier for the machine to parse? preg_match_all('%<div id="myHome"[^>]>(.*?)<span id="nReaders[^>]>([0-9]+)<"%msi', $data, $results, PREG_SET_ORDER); foreach($results AS $result){ preg_match_all('%<div class="myplacement".*?[.]php[?]((?:next|before))=([0-9]+).*?<tbody.*?<td[^>]>.*?[0-9]+"%msi', $result[1], $mydata, PREG_SET_ORDER); //takes care of the data and finish the program Note: I need this for a freeware program so it must be as general as possible and, if possible, not use php extensions ADD: I ommitted some parts here because I didn't expect for answers like those. There is also a need to parse text inside one of the tags that is in the document. It may be the 6th 7th or 8th tag but I know it is after a certain tag. The parser I've checked (thx profitphp) does work to find the script tag. What now? There are more than 1 tag with the same class. I want them all. But I want only with also one of a list of classes..... Where can I find instructions and demos and limitations of DOM parsers (like the one in http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/)? I need something that will work on, at least, a big amount of free servers.

  • How can I test a form that requires the entry of two random characters from a security phrase?

    - by lawm
    I need to test a two-stage login system which first asks for your email address and password and then presents the user with two select lists containing [a-zA-Z0-9]. The labels beside the drop down's are of the form 'Select character X from your security phrase', where X is a random character index from a known security phrase. I'd rather not stub the code for an acceptance test, so is it possible to write a matcher in cucumber which will, given that we know the whole phrase, select the required character in each of the two lists? Here is the scenario I have so far and the steps involved: Scenario: valid login email, password and secret phrase takes me to the dashboard Given I am not logged in When I log in as "[email protected]" Then I should be on the dashboard page And I should see "Your Dashboard" When /^I log in as "([^\"]*)"$/ do |login| visit path_to('Login page') fill_in "Email", :with => login fill_in "Password", :with => "Password123" click_button "Log in" response.should contain("Please verify some characters from your security phrase") select "a", :from => "Select character X of your security phrase" select "b", :from => "Select character Y of your security phrase" click_button "Submit" end For example, if the security phrase is 'Secret123', X = 3 and Y = 8, the above would have to produce the equivalent of: select "c", :from => "Select character 3 of your security phrase" select "2", :from => "Select character 8 of your security phrase" The numbers X and Y in the actual page are inside span#svc_1 and span#svc_2 respectively. Thanks,

  • Use CSS3 nth-child to alternate the float of images within DIV tags...

    - by Aaron Rodgers
    Basically, what I'm trying to create is a page of div tags, each has an image inside them and I'm trying to use CSS3's nth-child to alternate the float of that specific image. But for the life of me, I can't get the nth-child to locate those images. Here is my code so far... CSS .featureBlock img:nth-of-type(even) { float: left; } .featureBlock img:nth-of-type(odd) { float: right; } This is the HTML of one of those div tags.... <div class="featureBlock"> <h1>Multisize Players</h1> <div class="featureHelpBlock"><a href="#">More help with this</a></div> <img src="http://office2.vzaar.com/images/features/ft_multisize_players.png"> <span class="featureContent"><p>A variety of player sizes is important as we recognise the fact that no two videos or websites are ever the same and you will want something that suits your site&#8217;s look. • Highlighting a piechart slice from an HTML element (mouseover)

    - by nickhar
    I have a series of HTML table cells with data - an example of which is: <tr id="rrow1"> <td> <a href="/electricity" class="category">Electricity</a> </td> <td> 901.471 </td> </tr> <tr id="rrow2">... <tr id="rrow3">... etc In this case, each <tr> (or hypathetically for the wider community a div/span/tr/td) is assigned a sequential id based on $rrow++; in a while loop (in PHP). I also have a Piechart using the highcharts library, where i'd like to highlight the slice (sliced: true) based upon onmouseover of particular div/span/tr/td element - in this case #rrow1 as above, but multiple/iterative elements as required and (sliced: false) onmouseout... As a simple example, I've tried accessing various derivatives of the following, but failed: $('#rrow1').mouseover(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', true); }); $('#rrow1').mouseout(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', false); }); The nearest I've found is this but bastardised at most and without success: plotOptions: { series: { mouseOver: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseover ) series.x = sliced: true; }, mouseOut: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseout ) series.x = sliced: false; } } } These are far from approaching correct and despite searching I can't find a valid/helpful example to work from or draw direction. You can view the pie chart in question on jsfiddle here.

  • Transparently surround a component with a link in Wicket

    - by Toni Menzel
    I want to be able to add links on certain items in an ListView. If an items is surrounded by the link or not is up to the code, so its not in the normal page markup. Say i have a markup like this: <div class="column" wicket:id="columnRepeater"> <span wicket:id="column"></span> </div> So essentially, while filling the repeater with a ListView i am able to find a custom renderer for the column component. (not my playingfield). What i want is to add a Link/Ajax Link around the column component. I learned using wicket:border lets you surround additional stuff. Now, the border markup looks like this: <wicket:border> <a wicket:id="link"><wicket:body/></a> </wicket:border> Now, i am a bit puzzled what the Border implementation looks like. Anyone there who can suggest a working java part? I have a couple of "work in progress" solutions but none works. Most questions have to do with usage of component ids. Is the border id = column ? Whats the id of the inner (border body) id then?

  • regex match css class name from single string containing multiple classes

    - by effectica
    I have a long string that contains multiple css classes. With regex I would like to match every class name as I then need to replace these class names like so: <span>CLASSNAME</span> I have tried for hours to come up with a solution and I think I am close however for certain class names I am not able to exclude closing curly brackets from the match. Here is a sample string I have been carrying out testing on: #main .items-Outer p{ font-family:Verdana; color: #000000; font-size: 50px; font-weight: bold; }#footer .footer-inner p.intro{ font-family:Arial; color: #444444; font-size: 30; font-weight: normal; }.genericTxt{ font-family:Courier; color: #444444; font-size: 30; font-weight: normal; } And here is the the regex I came up with so far: ((^(?:.+?)(?:[^{]*))|((?:\})(?:.+?)(?:[^{]*))) Please look at the screenshot I am attaching as it will show more clearly the matches I get. My problem is that I would obviously like to exclude curly brackets from any match.

  • IE8 ignores jQuery UI 'dialog' minHeight and height settings

    - by Kev
    I'm using jQuery 1.4.4 with jQueryUI 1.8.7 to display a modal dialog box. I'm having a problem where IE8 renders a scrollbar and appears to ignore the minHeight and height options in all the many different combinations I've tried them in. • How can I get sIFR to render the .sIFR-alternate correctly with FlashBlock enabled?

    - by berkleebassist
    So I've looked this up in a few different places, and the only answer I've seen is "style the span.sIFR-alternate element". Problem is, if I apply any styles to that element that will actually have it appear & be placed correctly, it shows up alongside the sIFR text when FlashBlock isn't present (e.g. in Safari/IE) or is disabled. Here's the default styles for .sIFR-alternate: .sIFR-alternate { position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; width: 0; height: 0; display: block; overflow: hidden; } And I'm adding these: span.sIFR-alternate { font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 24px; line-height: 14px; color: #000000; padding: 0; margin-top:12px; margin-bottom:7px; } What am I missing? Otherwise though, sIFR is working well.

I would like to show the message for a couple seconds, then fade it out. It works correctly the first time I change the drop down, after that the change happens and the value gets saved, but the "Successful" message doesn't display. jQuery code: $('#AgentEmails').change(function() { var NewAddress = $('#AgentEmails').val(); $.post('SaveEmail.aspx', { email: NewAddress }, function(data) { $('#SelectMsg').html("<b>" + data + "</b>").fadeOut(); }); }); HTML code: <select ID='AgentEmails' runat='server'> <option value="[email protected]">TEST</option> </select><span id='SelectMsg'></span> What needs to be changed in my code to make this operate correctly? Thanks for the help.

  • Ajax return string links not working

    - by Andreas Lympouras
    I have this ajax function: function getSearchResults(e) { var searchString = e.value; /*var x = e.keyCode; var searchString = String.fromCharCode(x);*/ if (searchString == "") { document.getElementById("results").innerHTML = ""; return; } var xmlhttp; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = function () { if (xmlhttp.readyState == 4 && xmlhttp.status == 200) { document.getElementById("results").innerHTML = xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET", "<%=Page.ResolveUrl("~/template/searchHelper.aspx?searchString=")%>"+searchString, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT"); //solve any AJAX caching problem(not refreshing) xmlhttp.send(); } and here is when I call it: <input class="text-input" value="SEARCH" id="searchbox" onkeyup="javascript:getSearchResults(this);" maxlength="50" runat="server" /> and all my links in the searchHelper.aspx file(which retruns them as a string) are like this: <a class="item" href='../src/actors.aspx?id=77&name=dasdassss&type=a' > <span class="item">dasdassss</span></a> When I click this link I want my website to go to ../src/actors.aspx?id=77&name=dasdassss&type=a but nothing happens. When I hover over the link, it also shows me where the link is about to redirect! any help?
