  • ThreadAbortException (WebClient using DownloadFile to grab file from server)

    - by baron
    Hi Everyone, Referencing my Earlier Question, regarding downloading a file from a server and handling exceptions properly. I am positive that I had this solved, then in classic programming fashion, returned days later to frustratingly find it broken :-( Updated code: private static void GoGetIt(HttpContext context) { var directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe = new FileInfo(......); var name = SomeBasicLogicToDecideName(); //if (!directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe.RefreshExists()) //{ // throw new Exception(string.Format("Could not find {0}.", name)); //} var tempDirectory = ""; //Omitted - creates temporary directory try { directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe.CopyAll(tempDirectory); var response = context.Response; response.ContentType = "binary/octet-stream"; response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", string.Format("attachment;filename={0}.zip", name)); ZipHelper.ZipDirectoryToStream(tempDirectory, response.OutputStream); response.End(); } catch (Exception ex) { Debug.WriteLine(ex.ToString()); context.Response.StatusCode = 404; } finally { tempDirectory.DeleteWithPrejudice(); } } This was working fine, and returning the zip, otherwise if the file didn't exist returning 404. Then on the client side I could handle this: public bool Download() { try { using (var client = new WebClient()) { client.DownloadFile(name, tempFilePath); } } catch (Exception) { fileExists = false; } return fileExists; } But the problem now is two things. 1) I get System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted in the server side try-catch block. Usually this was just a file not found exception. I have no idea what or why that new exception is throwing? 2) Now that a different exception is throwing on the server side instead of the file not found, it would seem I can't use this set up for the application, because back on client side, any exception is assumed to be filenotfound. Any help, especially info on why this ThreadAbortException is throwing!?!? greatly appreciated. Cheers

  • How to determine if a ResourceDictionary is loaded correctly

    - by akaphenom
    How can I tell (through the debugger if my app resources are being loaded correctly). I have tried (in f#) type MyApp() as this = inherit Application() do Application.LoadComponent(this, new System.Uri("/FSSilverlightApp;component/App.xaml", System.UriKind.Relative)) let cc = new ContentControl() let mainGrid : Grid = loadXaml("MainWindow.xaml") let siteTemplate : Grid = mainGrid let txt : TextBlock = siteTemplate ? txt do this.Startup.Add(this.startup) let mutable s = "Items: " s <- s + this.Resources.Count.ToString() it is returning a count of zero. Though I am pretty sure the application is loading the resource because if I change the path within the App.xaml - I get exceptions at runtime. Other re,lavent snippets are: I have the following app.xaml <Application xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="Module1.MyApp"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/FSSilverlightApp;component/TransitioningFrame.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> and content template: < ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:navigation="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Navigation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <ControlTemplate x:Key="TransitioningFrame" TargetType="navigation:Frame"> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"> <ContentPresenter Cursor="{TemplateBinding Cursor}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </ResourceDictionary>

  • Proper use of HTTP status codes in a "validation" server

    - by Romulo A. Ceccon
    Among the data my application sends to a third-party SOA server are complex XMLs. The server owner does provide the XML schemas (.xsd) and, since the server rejects invalid XMLs with a meaningless message, I need to validate them locally before sending. I could use a stand-alone XML schema validator but they are slow, mainly because of the time required to parse the schema files. So I wrote my own schema validator (in Java, if that matters) in the form of an HTTP Server which caches the already parsed schemas. The problem is: many things can go wrong in the course of the validation process. Other than unexpected exceptions and successful validation: the server may not find the schema file specified the file specified may not be a valid schema file the XML is invalid against the schema file Since it's an HTTP Server I'd like to provide the client with meaningful status codes. Should the server answer with a 400 error (Bad request) for all the above cases? Or they have nothing to do with HTTP and it should answer 200 with a message in the body? Any other suggestion? Update: the main application is written in Ruby, which doesn't have a good xml schema validation library, so a separate validation server is not over-engineering.

  • Pylons error "No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread" with debug = false

    - by Evgeny
    I'm unable to access the request object in my Pylons 0.9.7 controller when I set debug = false in the .ini file. I have the following code: def run_something(self): print('!!! request = %r' % request) print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) yield 'Stuff' With debugging enabled this works fine and prints out: !!! request = <Request at 0x9571190 POST http://my_url> !!! request.params = UnicodeMultiDict([... lots of stuff ...]) If I set debug = false I get the following: !!! request = <paste.registry.StackedObjectProxy object at 0x4093790> Error - <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread The stack trace confirms that the error is on the print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) line. I'm running it using the Paste server and these two lines are the very first lines in my controller method. This only occurs if I have yield statements in the method (even though the statements aren't reached). I'm guessing Pylons sees that it's a generator method and runs it on some other thread. My questions are: How do I make it work with debug = false ? Why does it work with debug = true ? Obviously this is quite a dangerous bug, since I normally develop with debug = true, so it can go unnoticed during development.

  • Google App Engine: JDO does the job, JPA does not

    - by Phuong Nguyen de ManCity fan
    I have setup a project using both Jdo and Jpa. I used Jpa Annotation to Declare my Entity. Then I setup my testCases based on LocalTestHelper (from Google App Engine Documentation). When I run the test, a call to makePersistent of Jdo:PersistenceManager is perfectly OK; a call to persist of Jpa:EntityManager raised an error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Type ("org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel") is not that of an entity but needs to be for this operation at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.assertEntity(EntityManagerImpl.java:888) at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.persist(EntityManagerImpl.java:385) Caused by: org.datanucleus.exceptions.NoPersistenceInformationException: The class "org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel" is required to be persistable yet no Meta-Data/Annotations can be found for this class. Please check that the Meta-Data/annotations is defined in a valid file location. at org.datanucleus.ObjectManagerImpl.assertClassPersistable(ObjectManagerImpl.java:3894) at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.assertEntity(EntityManagerImpl.java:884) ... 27 more How can it be the case? Below is the link to the source code of the maven projects that reproduce that problem: http://seamoo.com/jpa-bug-reproduce.tar.gz Execute the maven test goal over the parent pom you will notice that 3/4 tests from org.seamoo.persistence.jdo.JdoGenericDAOImplTest passed, while all tests from org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.JpaGenericDAOImplTest failed.

  • Integrating a Custom Compiler with the Visual Studio IDE

    - by M.A. Hanin
    Background: I want to create a custom VB compiler, extending the "original" compiler, to handle my custom compile-time attributes. Question: after I've created my custom compiler and I've got an executable file capable of compiling VB code via the standard command-line interface, how do I integrate this compiler with the Visual Studio IDE? (such that pressing "compile" or "build" will make use of my compiler instead of the default compiler). EDIT: (Correct me if i'm wrong) From the reactions here, I see this question is a bit shocking, so I shall further explain my needs and background: .NET provides us with a great mechanism called Attributes. As far as I understand, making attributes apply their intended behavior upon the attributed element (assembly, module, class, method, etc.) - attributes must be reflected upon. So the real trick here is reflecting and applying behavior at the right spot. Lets take Serialization for example: We decorate a class with the Serializable attribute. We then pass an instance of the class to the formatter's Serialize method. The formatter reflects upon the instance, checking if it has the Serializable attribute, and acting accordingly. Now, if we examine the Synchronization, Flags, Obsolete and CLSCompliant attributes, then the real question is: who reflects upon them? At least in some cases, it has to be the compiler (and/or IDE). Therefore, it seems that if I wish to create custom attributes that change an element's behavior regardless of any specific consumer, i must extend the compiler to reflect upon them at compilation. Of course, these are not my personal insights: the book "Applied .NET Attributes" provides a complete example of creating a custom attribute and a custom C# compiler to reflect upon that attribute at compilation (the example is used to implement "java-style checked exceptions").

  • asp mvc unit test HttpContext.Current.Cache?

    - by Paul Creasey
    Here is the first part of my controller code: public class ControlMController : Controller { IControlMService _controlMservice; public IList<User> Users { get { if (System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Cache["users"] == null) { System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Cache["users"] = _controlMservice.GetUsers(); } return (IList<User>)System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Cache["users"]; } } public ControlMController(IControlMService controlMservice) { this._controlMservice = controlMservice; var users = Users; ViewData["Users"] = users; ViewData["jqSelectUsers"] = string.Join(";", users.Select(x => x.UserID + ":" + x.Name).ToArray()); } I'm trying to test it, and because i'm caching using the HttpContext, i'm struggling with null reference exceptions. I've tried using MvcContrib.TestHelper; here is my sample test... [TestMethod] public void EventDetails_Returns_view_with_correct_event() { var builder = new TestControllerBuilder(); var controller = builder.CreateController<ControlMController>( new ControlMService( new MockControlMRepository() )); var view = (controller.EventDetails(1) as ViewResult); Assert.AreEqual(1, (view.ViewData.Model as Event).EventId); } (I haven't quite got round to using DI for my tests! I'm still getting the same null reference exception when the code hits the httpcontext: Error 1 TestCase 'SupportTool.Tests.Services.ControlM.ControlMControllerTests.EventDetails_Returns_view_with_correct_event' failed: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at SupportTool.web.Controllers.ControlMController.get_Users() Any ideas?

  • Statically Compiling QWebKit 4.6.2

  • How to exclude R*.class files from a proguard build

    - by Jeremy Bell
    I am one step away from making the method described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2761443/targeting-android-with-scala-2-8-trunk-builds work with a single project (vs one project for scala and one for android). I've come across a problem. Using this input file (arguments to) proguard: -injars bin;lib/scala-library.jar(!META-INF/MANIFEST.MF,!library.properties) -outjar lib/scandroid.jar -libraryjars lib/android.jar -dontwarn -dontoptimize -dontobfuscate -dontskipnonpubliclibraryclasses -dontskipnonpubliclibraryclassmembers -keepattributes Exceptions,InnerClasses,Signature,Deprecated, SourceFile,LineNumberTable,*Annotation*,EnclosingMethod -keep public class org.scala.jeb.** { public protected *; } -keep public class org.xml.sax.EntityResolver { public protected *; } Proguard successfully builds scandroid.jar, however it appears to have included the generated R classes that the android resource builder generates and compiles. In this case, they are located in bin/org/jeb/R*.class. This is not what I want. The android dalvik converter cannot build because it thinks there is a duplicate of the R class (it's in scandroid and also the R*.class files). How can I modify the above proguard arguments to exclude the R*.class files from the scandroid.jar so the dalvik converter is happy? Edit: I should note that I tried adding ;bin/org/jeb/R.class;etc... to the -libraryjars argument, and that only seemed to cause it to complain about duplicate classes, and in addition proguard decided to exclude my scala class files too.

  • Problems with Merb on Snow Leopard

    I've recently started looking at Merb, for use with some small projects around the office. I'm trying to set up my first project following the docs, and am encountering an exception such as: foo:beta user$ merb Merb root at: /Users/user/code/merb/beta Loading init file from ./config/init.rb Loading ./config/environments/development.rb ~ Connecting to database... ~ Loaded slice 'MerbAuthSlicePassword' ... ~ Parent pid: 39794 ~ Compiling routes... ~ Activating slice 'MerbAuthSlicePassword' ... ~ ~ FATAL: Mongrel is not installed, but you are trying to use it. You need to either install mongrel or a different Ruby web server, like thin. I have installed Mongrel from gem as well as from MacPorts, and am confused by this exception. • "no block given" errors with cache_money

    - by emh
    i've inherited a site that in production is generating dozens of "no block given" exceptions every 5 minutes. the top of the stack trace is: vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:42:in `add' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:33:in `get' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:22:in `call' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:22:in `fetch' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:31:in `get' so it appears that the problem is in the cache money plugin. has anyone experienced something similar? i've cut and pasted the relevant code below -- anyone more familiar with blocks able to discern any obvious problems? 11 def fetch(keys, options = {}, &block) 12 case keys 13 when Array 14 keys = keys.collect { |key| cache_key(key) } 15 hits = repository.get_multi(keys) 16 if (missed_keys = keys - hits.keys).any? 17 missed_values = block.call(missed_keys) 18 hits.merge!(missed_keys.zip(Array(missed_values)).to_hash) 19 end 20 hits 21 else 22 repository.get(cache_key(keys), options[:raw]) || (block ? block.call : nil) 23 end 24 end 25 26 def get(keys, options = {}, &block) 27 case keys 28 when Array 29 fetch(keys, options, &block) 30 else 31 fetch(keys, options) do 32 if block_given? 33 add(keys, result = yield(keys), options) 34 result 35 end 36 end 37 end 38 end 39 40 def add(key, value, options = {}) 41 if repository.add(cache_key(key), value, options[:ttl] || 0, options[:raw]) == "NOT_STORED\r\n" 42 yield 43 end 44 end

  • Grails: How to include an html link inside a <g:message> default attribute?

    - by Christoph
    Hi, I am starting with Grails and want to have one page with multilanguage content. I started using the tag which works fine. But here is what I want to do: I want to include the default text of the default language right in the text, to avoid switching back and forth in between files. <g:message code="homepage.feature.headline1" default="This is an english text" /> The above works. But now I a have a message which should include a link like this: <g:message code="homepage.feature.headline1" default="This is an english text with <a href='somefile.html'>a link</a>" /> This gives me an exception: org.codehaus.groovy.grails.web.pages.exceptions.GroovyPagesException: Error processing GroovyPageView: Grails tags were not closed! [[<g:message>]] in GSP How can I achieve that I can include a link there? I have tried escaping the < brackets but still no luck. I really would like to avoid splitting up this one sentence into multiple smaller sentences. Thanks Christoph

This question is similar to: How can I merge two Python dictionaries as a single expression? -- insofar as Jinja2 and Python are analogous.

  • Fluent config not generating mapping files

    - by rboarman
    Hello, I am trying to get Fluent nHibernate to generate mappings so I can take a look at the files and the sql. My code is based on this post and on what I can glean from the documentation. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1375146/fluent-mapping-entities-and-classmaps-in-different-assemblies I am using the latest code from git. Here’s my config code: Configuration cfg = new Configuration(); var ft = Fluently.Configure(cfg); //DbConnection by fluent ft.Database ( MsSqlConfiguration .MsSql2008 .ConnectionString("……") .ShowSql() .UseReflectionOptimizer() ); //get mapping files. ft.Mappings(m => { //set up the mapping locations m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<Entity>() .ExportTo(@"C:\temp"); m.Apply(cfg); }); I also tried: var sessionFactory = Fluently.Configure() .Database(MsSqlConfiguration .MsSql2008 .ShowSql() .ConnectionString(“……")) .Mappings(p => p.FluentMappings .AddFromAssemblyOf<Entity>() .ExportTo(@"c:\temp\")) .BuildSessionFactory(); I have verified that the connection string is correct. The issue is that no mapping files show up in the ExportTo folder and no sql code shows up in the output window or in the log file. No errors or exceptions are generated either. I have no idea where to go from here. Thank you in advance. Rick

  • Programmatically copying custom content type and columns from one web to another

    - by BeraCim
    Hi all: I'm experiencing a very stubborn problem when copying custom content type and its columns from one web to another within the same site. Basically, this is the code that I have: foreach (SPField field in existingWeb.Fields) { if (!destinationWeb.Fields.ContainsField(field.Title)) { destinationWeb.Fields.AddFieldAsXml(field.SchemaXml); destinationWeb.Update(); } } foreach (SPContentType existingWebCt in destinationWeb.ContentType) { SPContentType newContentType = new SPContentType(existingWebCt.Parent, destinationWeb.ContentTypes, existingWebCt.Name); foreach (SPFieldLink fieldLink in existingWebCt.FieldLinks) { SPField sourceField = existingWebCt.Fields[fieldLink.Id]; if (destinationWeb.Fields.ContainsField(sourceField.Title)) { SPFieldLink destinationWebFieldLink = new SPFieldLink(destinationWeb.Fields[sourceField.Title]); newContentType.FieldLinks.Add(destinationWebFieldLink); } } } existingWeb and destinationWeb are 2 webs within the same site. The code runs fine. But the problem is that in the SITE Content Type screen (under site settings), when I click the custom column link in the custom content type, I got an error saying: Invalid field name {UID}. The UID is the same UID as the custom column in the existing site. I checked with my web settings after completion. I can see the custom list (which I created with an item for testing purpose), but the custom column is gone from the view (though the actual data is still there... just have to check the box to get it to display). But I think that is less important... more of fyi. I've also gotten a variety of different exceptions should I copy things wrongly. Google has failed to help me out on this one. Does anyone know what I'm missing in order to get that link to work again? Thanks.

  • What's with the love of dynamic Languages

    - by Kibbee
    It seems that everybody is jumping on the dynamic, non-compiled bandwagon lately. I've mostly only worked in compiled, static typed languages (C, Java, .Net). The experience I have with dynamic languages is stuff like ASP (Vb Script), JavaScript, and PHP. Using these technologies has left a bad taste in my mouth when thinking about dynamic languages. Things that usually would have been caught by the compiler such as misspelled variable names and assigning an value of the wrong type to a variable don't occur until runtime. And even then, you may not notice an error, as it just creates a new variable, and assigns some default value. I've also never seen intellisense work well in a dynamic language, since, well, variables don't have any explicit type. What I want to know is, what people find so appealing about dynamic languages? What are the main advantages in terms of things that dynamic languages allow you to do that can't be done, or are difficult to do in compiled languages. It seems to me that we decided a long time ago, that things like uncompiled asp pages throwing runtime exceptions was a bad idea. Why is there is a resurgence of this type of code? And why does it seem to me at least, that Ruby on Rails doesn't really look like anything you couldn't have done with ASP 10 years ago?

  • WPF binding fails with custom add and remove accessors for INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged

    I have a scenario which is causing strange behavior with WPF data binding and INotifyPropertyChanged. I want a private member of the data binding source to handle the INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged event. I get some exceptions which haven't helped me debug, even when I have "Enable .NET Framework source stepping" checked in Visual Studio's options: A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in mscorlib.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in mscorlib.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in PresentationCore.dll Here's the source code: XAML <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="TestApplication.MainWindow" DataContext="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}" Height="100" Width="100"> <StackPanel> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Path=CheckboxIsChecked}" Content="A" /> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Path=CheckboxIsChecked}" Content="B" /> </StackPanel> </Window> Normal implementation works public partial class MainWindow : Window, INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mCheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mCheckboxIsChecked = value; PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = this.PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("CheckboxIsChecked")); } } private bool mCheckboxIsChecked = false; public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } } Desired implementation doesn't work public partial class MainWindow : Window, INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged { add { lock (this.mHandler) { this.mHandler.PropertyChanged += value; } } remove { lock (this.mHandler) { this.mHandler.PropertyChanged -= value; } } } public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mHandler.CheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mHandler.CheckboxIsChecked = value; } } private HandlesPropertyChangeEvents mHandler = new HandlesPropertyChangeEvents(); public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } public class HandlesPropertyChangeEvents : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mCheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mCheckboxIsChecked = value; PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = this.PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("CheckboxIsChecked")); } } private bool mCheckboxIsChecked = false; } }

  • Any way to identify a redirect when using jQuery's $.ajax() or $.getScript() methods?

    - by Bungle
    Within my company's online application, we've set up a JSONP-based API that returns some data that is used by a bookmarklet I'm developing. Here is a quick test page I set up that hits the API URL using jQuery's $.ajax() method: http://troy.onespot.com/static/3915/index.html If you look at the requests using Firebug's "Net" tab (or the like), you'll see that what's happening is that the URL is requested successfully, but since our app redirects any unauthorized users to a login page, the login page is also requested by the browser and seemingly interpreted as JavaScript. This inevitably causes an exception since the login page is HTML, not JavaScript. Basically, I'm looking for any sort of hook to determine when the request results in a redirect - some way to determine if the URL resolved to a JSONP response (which will execute a method I've predefined in the bookmarklet script) or if it resulted in a redirect. I tried wrapping the $.ajax() method in a try {} catch(e) {} block, but that doesn't trap the exception, I'm assuming because the requests were successful, just not the parsing of the login page as JavaScript. Is there anywhere I could use a try {} catch(e) {} block, or any property of $.ajax() that might allow me to hone in on the exception or otherwise determine that I've been redirected? I actually doubt this is possible, since $.getScript() (or the equivalent setup of $.ajax()) just loads a script dynamically, and can't inspect the response headers since it's cross-domain and not truly AJAX: http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.getScript/ My alternative would be to just fire off the $.ajax() for a period of time until I either get the JSONP callback or don't, and in the latter case, assume the user is not logged in and prompt them to do so. I don't like that method, though, since it would result in a lot of unnecessary requests to the app server, and would also pile up the JavaScript exceptions in the meantime. Thanks for any suggestions!

  • How do I create a multi-level TreeView using F#?

    - by TwentyMiles
    I would like to display a directory structure using Gtk# widgets through F#, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to translate TreeViews into F#. Say I had a directory structure that looks like this: Directory1 SubDirectory1 SubDirectory2 SubSubDirectory1 SubDirectory3 Directory2 How would I show this tree structure with Gtk# widgets using F#? EDIT: gradbot's was the answer I was hoping for with a couple of exceptions. If you use ListStore, you loose the ability to expand levels, if you instead use : let musicListStore = new Gtk.TreeStore([|typeof<String>; typeof<String>|]) you get a layout with expandable levels. Doing this, however, breaks the calls to AppendValues so you have to add some clues for the compiler to figure out which overloaded method to use: musicListStore.AppendValues (iter, [|"Fannypack" ; "Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah) (double j and haze radio edit)"|]) Note that the columns are explicitly passed as an array. Finally, you can nest levels even further by using the ListIter returned by Append Values let iter = musicListStore.AppendValues ("Dance") let subiter = musicListStore.AppendValues (iter, [|"Fannypack" ; "Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah) (double j and haze radio edit)"|]) musicListStore.AppendValues (subiter, [|"Some Dude"; "Some Song"|]) |> ignore

  • Appengine datastore phantom entity - inconsistent state?

    - by aloo
    Getting a weird error on java appengine code that used to work fine (nothing has changed but the data in the datastore). I'm trying to iterate over the results of a query and change a few properties of the entities. The query does return a set of results, however, when I try to access the first result in the list, it throws an exception when trying to access any of its properties (but its key). Here's the exception: org.datanucleus.state.JDOStateManagerImpl isLoaded: Exception thrown by StateManager.isLoaded Could not retrieve entity of kind OnTheCan with key OnTheCan(3204258) org.datanucleus.exceptions.NucleusObjectNotFoundException: Could not retrieve entity of kind OnTheCan with key OnTheCan(3204258) at org.datanucleus.store.appengine.DatastoreExceptionTranslator.wrapEntityNotFoundException(DatastoreExceptionTranslator.java:60) And here is my code: PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); Query query = null; List<OnTheCan> cans; query = pm.newQuery("SELECT this FROM " + OnTheCan.class.getName() + " WHERE open == true ORDER BY onTheCanId ASC"); query.setRange(0, num); cans = (List<OnTheCan>) query.execute(); for (OnTheCan c : cans) { System.err.println(c.getOnTheCanId()); // this works fine! getting the key works c.setOpen(false); // failure here with the above exception c.setAutoClosed(true); c.setEndTime(new Date(c.getStartTime().getTime() + 600000/*10*60*1000*/)); } pm.close(); The code throws the exception when trying to execute c.setOpen(false) - thats the first time I'm accessing or setting a property that isnt the key. So it seems there is a phantom entity in my datastore with key 3204258. THis entity doesn't really exist (queried the datastore from admin console) but for some reason its being returned by the query. Could my data store be in an inconsistent state? I've managed the following workaround by placing it as the first line in my for loop. Clearly an ugly hack: if (c.getOnTheCanId() == 3204258) { continue; } Any ideas?
