  • How to assign a numbering scheme to TreeNodes based on position

    I have a TreeView control in a Windows Forms application that is displaying my own subclass of TreeNode. I need to display a number along with each node's text indicating its position in the tree, like 1 for the root, 1.1 for its first child, 1.2 for its second child, etc. I'm using C# with .NET 2.0 The best that I can come up with is, after the tree is built, go to each node, recursively find the parent and append the parent's sibling number to the front of the node's text until you reach the root.

    I have custom control - chart with size, for example, 300x300 pixels and more than one million points (maybe less) in it. And its clear that now he works very slowly. I am searching for algoritm which will show only few points with minimal visual difference.   • Problem using a costum server control in a aspx

    Hi guys, i am having a issue. I already developed one class (my custom gridview) and i want use it on a .aspx That class is defined in app_code and compiled to the dll of the project. namespace MyCostumControls{  public class DropDownPagingGridView : GridView{ ... I already registered the control on the aspx page using <%@ Register Namespace="MyCostumControls" TagPrefix="ctrl" % and i can use in the page and works ok.. But i'm watching one problem. That class contains methods defined by me, than when i try to call them in code-behind sayd to me than they're not defined. In designed i don't see the reference to MyCostumControls, and when i try declare one field using protected global::MyCostumControls.MyCostumControls ddl_gv_errors, i cannot access to MyCostumControls namespace, Is because he's compiled to the project dll? I can access to all namespaces than are not contained in app_code. Solutions? Apreciate. Thanks

    I have Button control and I have to set the IsEanbled property based on the bool variable. bool IsBoolVariable I want if IsBoolVariable property is true then I want to set the IsEnabled property to false AND when IsBoolVariable property is false then I want to set the IsEnabled property to true. Is it possible to apply not(!) operator while defining the binding as given below <Button IsEnabled = "{Binding Path = **!**IsBoolVariable}" /> I can very well do that by applying convertors , but that is the only way to do that?

    I have created a custom combobox that has a LABEL property so when we drop it on a form, we can say the Label associated with this ComboBox is say Label2 this is what I wrote for its label property.   • Combobox seems to reload itself

    Hi, I have a combo box drop down for fonts in one of the apps. Now when I click on the dropdown to see the available list of fonts, I see a flickering effect. It seems as if the combo box keeps on reloading itself or getting refreshed. Is it because it covers some of the other UI elements like textboxes when I click to expand the list, or is it some kind of known bug with WPF? Is there a workaround for this?

  • C# Basic Multi-Threading Question: Call Method on Thread A from Thread B (Thread B started from Thre

    What is the best way to accomplish this: The main thread (Thread A) creates two other threads (Thread B and Thread C). Threads B and C do heavy disk I/O and eventually need to pass in resources they created to Thread A to then call a method in an external DLL file which requires the thread that created it to be called correctly so only Thread A can call it. The only other time I ever used threads was in a Windows Forms application, and the invoke methods were just what I needed. This program does not use Windows Forms, and as such there are no Control.Invoke methods to use. I have noticed in my testing that if a variable is created in Thread A, I have no trouble accessing and modifying it from Thread B/C which seems very wrong to me. With Winforms, I was sure it threw errors for trying to access things created on other threads. I know it is unsafe to change things from multiple threads, but I really hoped .NET would forbid it altogether to ensure safe coding. Does .NET do this, and I am just missing the boat, or does it only do it with WinForm apps? Since it does seemingly allow this, do I do something like an OS would do, create a flag and monitor it from Thread A to see if it changes. If it does, then call the method. Doesnt the event handler essentially do this, so could an event be used somehow called on the main thread?

    I am trying to set audit controls on a number of files (listed in ACLsWin.txt) located in \%Windows%\System32 (for example, aaclient.dll) using the following Powershell script: $FileList = Get-Content ".\ACLsWin.txt" $ACL = New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.FileSecurity $AccessRule = New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.FileSystemAuditRule("Everyone", "Delete", "Failure") $ACL.AddAuditRule($AccessRule) foreach($File in $FileList) { Write-Host "Changing audit on $File" $ACL | Set-Acl $File } Whenever I run the script, I get the error PermissionDenied [Set-Acl] UnauthorizedAccessException. This seems to come from the fact that the owner of these files is TrustedInstaller. I am running these scripts as Administrator (even though I'm on the the built-in Administrator account) and it's still failing. I can set these audit controls by hand using the Security tab, but there are at least 200 files for which doing by hand may lead to human errors. How can I get around TrustedInstaller and set these audit controls using Powershell?

  • Programming issue while applying text to the third party control.

    Hello I have used some third party controls in my windows application. There is a snippet which is being used in our code which re-initializes all the .text property of all the controls on the form. Everything works fine except for a control. This control is similar to the Windows Panel except for it has a dropdown appearance. This control has .Caption property instead of .Text property associated to it. This causes the problem whenever i use such codes foreach (Control oControl in this.Controls) { if (oControl is DropDownPanel) { { oControl.Text = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); } } } The text is not set here for the DropDownPanel control in the above method. Since .Text is not available for DropDownPanel control. I cannot do the following either .. ((DropDownPanel)oControl).Caption = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); Cos it shall throw exception if i try to cast oControl with that of DropDownPanel Any ideas how can i overcome such a condition.     I have UserControls in a Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1 Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it?

  • Is it good to use .settings for storing controls text data?

    In my WinForms applications I often put the controls text data (form title, labels texts, button captions, etc.) into a .settings (feature automatically generated by Visual Studio - based on the ApplicationSettingsBase class). In particular, Add a form or a control. In Solution Explorer add a new string item into the application scope of the settings file. Bind the control text property with the corresponding item of the settings file (through the property binding). Good point of this is that all my text data is collected in one place and easy to check and edit. Also it is convenient when I want to use the same text for several controls. However, I haven't heard that somebody uses the .settings such way. In tutorials for creating multilingual applications, for example, it is recommended to enter texts directly into the control property. So, is it good practice to use .settings for storing controls text data? Brief conclusion from the answers: Storing controls text data in the .settings is not common practice.

    I've heard that OpenGL ES and standard iPhone UI controls don't play well together, but I'm wondering if anyone knows why, and what the effects are? I'm writing an OpenGL based game, and the view is loaded from a nib file with ui controls, and it seems to work ok, but the game is really simple at this point... does using ui controls cause some kind of performance hit?
