• Popuplating an NSPopupButton with the contents of two NSArrayControllers

  I'm looking to populate an NSPopupButton with the contents of two NSArrayControllers. The NSArrayControllers are both bound to my Core Data Managed Object Context and represent separate entities (in this example: Person and Department). Within my NSPopupButton, I would like a list of departments, and the people that work under them. Like so: Department 1 Person 1 Person 2 Department 2 Person 3 Person 4 All departments would need to be disabled by default, meaning that users should only be able to select people listed within the dropdown. I'm lost as to how I would go about doing something like this. The concept of manually populating an NSPopupButton seems fairly trivial, but I'm a bit shaky as to best to populate the element with Core Data objects. Essentially, I'm just looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I imagine there's a right way to do this, and a number of very wrong ways.

  As I know, there are at least two ways to present a UIViewController on another UIViewController, first is using presentModalViewController:animated: on UIViewController, another is using pushViewController:animated: on UINavigationController, it seems when 2 view controller changing their appearance, the invoke sequence of appear/disappear callbacks are different. Following is an example, A is a UINavigationController, and B is a normal view controller, the actual callback sequence are: (1) A using presentModalViewController:animated: to show B: [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; (2) A using pushViewController:animated: to show B: [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; So my question is that, are these different callback sequence stable, or there are no definite sequence we can rely on?   Hi all, I'm trying to write a bit of SQL for SQLITE that will take a subset from two tables (TableA and TableB) and then perform a LEFT JOIN. This is what I've tried, but this produces the wrong result: Select * from TableA Left Join TableB using(key) where TableA.key2 = "xxxx" AND TableB.key3 = "yyyy" This ignore cases where key2="xxxx" but key3 != "yyyy". I want all the rows from TableA that match my criteria whether or not their corresponding value in TableB matches, but only those rows from TableB that match both conditions. I did manage to solve this by using a VIEW, but I'm sure there must be a better way of doing this. It's just beginning to drive me insane tryng to solve it now. (Thanks for any help, hope I've explained this well enough).

I used the following code but sometimes it gives me ArithmaticOverflow exception due to the negative number in Low 32-bit values. I am not sure enclosing the body with unchecked will serve the purpose or not. • Problem creating calculations 'engine' in two class java calculator

  i have hit a brick wall whilst attempting to create a two class java calculator but have been unsuccessful so far in getting it working. i have the code for an interface which works and displays ok but creating a seperate class 'CalcEngine' to do the actual calculations has proven to be beyond me. I'd appreciate it if someone could kick start things for me and create a class calcEngine which works with the interface class and allows input when from single button i.e. if one is pressed on the calc then 1 displays onscreen. please note i'm not asking someone to do the whole thing for me as i want to learn and i'm confident i can do the rest including addition subtraction etc. once i get over the obstacle of getting the two classes to communicate. any and all assistance would be very much appreciated. • How to diff two regions of the same file in Eclipse

  I'm a TDDer and often have a need to refactor out common or similar code. If it is exactly the same there is no big problem, Eclipse can almost always do that by itself. But to get there I'm finding myself often looking at similar, but not identical, code fragments in the same, or even different, files. It would be very handy if there was a possibility to mark two regions and get Eclipse (or some other tool) to mark the differences. With this information it would be much simpler to iteratively move the regions closer until they are the same and then activate the Extract Method refactoring. It can be done in Emacs of course, but I'd like to have this readily available from Eclipse. Any pointers?

• django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

  I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids.   So I am in the process of redesigning a small database (and potentially a much larger one) but want to show the value of using revisions / history of the business objects. I am switching the data from Access to MSSQL 2008. I am having a lot of internal debate on what version of "revision history" to use in the design itself - and thought I had decided to add a "RevisionId" to all tables. With this design - adding a RevisionId to all tables we would like tracked - what would be the best way to create Navigational Properties and Relationships between two tables such as | Vendor | VendorContact | where a Vendor can have multiple contacts. The Contacts themselves will be under revision. Will it require custom extensions or am I over thinking this? Thanks in advance.

• Inverse relationship of two variables

  this one is maybe pretty stupid.. Or I am just exhausted or something, but I just cant seem to solve it.. Problem : two variables X and Y, value of Y is dependent on value of X. X can have values ranging from some value to some value (lets say from 0 to 250) and y can have different values (lets say from 0.1 to 1.0 or something..) - but it is inverse relatonship (what I mean is: if value of X is e.g. 250, then value of Y would be 0.1 and when X decreases up to 0, value of Y raises up to 1.0.. So how should I do it? lets say I have function: -- double computeValue (double X) { /computation/ return Y; } Also, is there some easy way to somehow make the scaling of the function not so linear? - For example when X raises, Y decreases slower at first but then more rapidly in the end..   My problem is rather complex to explain, so I'll show you an example: http://ewolf.bplaced.de/misc/float.htm I want to have a floated element (the blue box) to be be placed over two other elements (red and green) and I want the whole thing to be fixed-width and centered (done by the box with the black border) while the background of the red and green box should fill the whole width. I'm actually not quite sure if the way I've done it now is XHTML/CSS valid, but it works - at least in Firefox. In IE6, the green box expands to fit the whole blue box - how can I fix this in IE6 or find another solution to show it correctly in all browsers?

  I have two views that I would like to combine into one. The first view shows all items of X where company ID = Y. This is to give preferential sort to the client first, and then everyone else. So I created a second view, all items of X, where company ID != Y. I created it as an Attachment to attach to the first view, but I don't think I got the intended result. How can I combine these views so the first view results are listed first, and then the second view is too, using the same pager, filters, and arguments? Is there any way of achieving this without programming it?

  I'm using two tables. First (friendlist), which contains users who are on the list of friends and the other table (members) that contains the basic data of the users. Friendlist looks like: id | myid | date | user ----------------------------------------- 001 | 50624 | 2010-01-01 | 32009 002 | 41009 | 2010-05-05 | 50624 003 | 50624 | 2010-03-02 | 23007 The column "myid" contains members who added other users (those from column "user") to their frindlist. I want to get the list of all users that I have added to list and those who add me to their friendlist. In this example, if my id is 50624, the list would look like: | allfriends | --------------- 32009 41009 23007 Then I need to check all users from "allfriend" list with data from the table "members". I want to get only the users with status 1. • Use LINQ to count the number of combinations existing in two lists

  I'm trying to create a LINQ query (or queries) that count the total number of occurences of a combinations of items in one list that exist in a different list. For example, take the following lists: CartItems DiscountItems ========= ============= AAA AAA AAA BBB AAA BBB BBB CCC CCC DDD The result of the query operation should be 2 since I can find two combinations of AAA and BBB (from DiscountItems) within the contents of CartItems. My thinking in approaching the query is to join the lists together to shorten CartItems to only include items from DiscountItems. The solution would be to find the CartItem in the resulting query that occurs the least amount of times, thus indicating how many combinations of items exist in CartItems. How can this be done? Here's the query I already have, but it's not working. query results in an enumeration with 100 items, far more than I expected.   Hi! I want to have a panel, with two columns. The first column will contain a list of beans, and the right one a form panel for editing those beans. What I want to do, is that list height is the same as height of the form panel on the right. My list of beans will be larger and larger over time, so it's height will probably exceed form height. When that happens, there should be a scrollbar showed for the list. I also don't want to set explicit size for list and my form panel (it should be flexible because some time I will add or remove some form fields). I'm basically new to GXT.
