• SQL Query problem: How to merge two lists.

  I have a base table of Participants and Answers, with the following structure: ParticipantId, BusUnitId, QuestionNum, Answer. In this table, QuestionNum ranges, say, from 1 to 6. I also have two other tables that sort of link QuestionNum to the actual question table, BusUnitQuestions, and ParticipantQuestions. For each QuestionNum, I must get the actual question text, based on QuestionId. BusUnitId, QuestionId ParticipantId, QuestionId Now assuming records with QuestionNum from 1 to 6. BusUnitQuestions has 3 records, so QuestionNum 1 to 3 must join to Question on the QuestionId's from BusUnitQuestions, and QuestionNum 4 to 6 must join to Question on the QuestionId's from ParticipantQuestions. I assume I need to use ROW_NUMBER() in the subquery from BusUnitQuestions to join to my answer table, but I'm lost after that. If anyone at all understands me, do you have any suggestions?

  A contrived example: signature A = sig type t val x: t end signature B = sig type t val y: t end signature C = sig include A B end Obviously, this will cause complaints that type t occurs twice in C. But is there any way to express that I want the two ts to be equated, ending up with: signature C = sig type t val x: t val y: t end I tried all sorts of silly syntax like include B where type t = A.t, which unsurprisingly didn't work. Is there something I've forgotten to try? Also, I know that this would be simply answered by checking the language's syntax for anything obvious (or a lack of), but I couldn't find a complete grammar anywhere on the internet. (FWIW, the actual reason I'm trying to do this is Haskell-style monads and such, where a MonadPlus is just a mix of a Monad and an Alternative; at the moment I'm just repeating the contents of ALTERNATIVE in MONAD_PLUS, which strikes me as less than ideal.)

  I have to implement a one linked list but it should put object in appropriate position. Everything was OK when I use it in conjunction with specific class, but when I tried make it universal and argument of method insert was Object some problem appeared. When I want to input Object in right position I should use CompareTo method, but there isn't method in Object class! The problem is how to compare two object elements without known about their real types. Maybe I should use generic class type? But what about CompareTo? Or maybe combine with Element class and place CompareTo there?   I'm trying to use the TMP environment variable in a program. When I ask for tmp = os.path.expandvars("$TMP") I get C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp Which contains the old-school, tilde form. A function I have no control over returns paths like C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp\file.txt My problem is this; I'd like to check if the file is in my temp drive, but I can't find a way to compare them. How do you tell if these two Windows directories; C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp are the same?

• Different controllers with the same name in two different areas results in a routing conflict

  I have two areas: ControlPanel and Patients. Both have a controller called ProblemsController that are similar in name only. The desired results would be routes that yield /controlpanel/problems = MyApp.Areas.ControlPanel.Controllers.ProblemsController and /patients/problems = MyApp.Areas.Patients.Controllers.ProblemsController. Each has routes configured like this: public override void RegisterArea(AreaRegistrationContext context) { context.MapRoute( "**Area Name Here**_default", "**Area Name Here**/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); } where **Area Name Here** is either ControlPanel or Patients. When I go to /patients/problems/create (for example), I get a 404 where the routing error says: A public action method 'create' was not found on controller 'MyApp.Areas.ControlPanel.Controllers.ProblemsController'. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

• Having two ODP.NET (ODAC) versions in the same server

  Hello: Some months ago, a colleague of mine installed ODAC 11.106.21 in a server using XCOPY and then he developed many applications that use this client without problems (in test and production windows servers). Past week, I developed an application under ODAC 11.1.07.20. When I asked him to install these new ODAC version using XCOPY in a different folder and then include my application in the test server, he answered me that I should use ODAC 11.106.21 because he could have troubles with his applications. So I would like to know: 1) If it is really possible to have two different ODAC versions in one server. 2) If the answer is positive, how can I firmly ensure to my colleague that he will not have troubles with his applications? 3) If the answer is positive, is this necessary to do some kind of configuration in the server? • WIX: COM unregistration when removing one of two programs

  Hello, I am relatively new to WiX. It is a great tool, but I still need some time to learn it better. I have encountered a problem with registration and unregistration of a COM component. I have created installers for two applications, lets call them A and B. Both are using the same COM component. I have used the heat tool, as recommended. When installing A or B, the component is registered without any problems. But when I install A and B, then remove A (with Add/Remove programs) the COM class gets unregistered and B cannot use it anymore. Is there a clean solution to prevent this from happening? I would like to unregister the COM when BOTH A and B are uninstalled. Any help would be appreciated, Best regards, madbadger

  The issue at hand is this. We have a web application with two different versions, a full application, and a light version of it. In it's most part the light version is a subset of the full version, which means that it uses the same web pages and references the same binaries with the full version. However, some of the pages of the full version should not be deployed with the light version obviously, and some binaries (libraries etc) need not be deployed with the full version. If it were a windows forms application we could attempt to approach the issue at hand with preprocessor directives, unfortunately this is not feasible I think. (please do correct me if I'm wrong with this) Anyway, what would a good approach on this? Thanks

• Calculating the average color between two colors in PHP, using an index number as reference value

  Hi all! In PHP, I am trying to calculate the average color (in hex) between to different hex colors.. However, I also need to be able to supply an index number between 0.0 and 1.0. So for example: I have $color1 = "#ffffff" and $color2 = "#0066CC" .. If I would write a function to get the average color and I would supply 0.0 as the index number, the function would need to return "#ffffff". If I would supply 1.0 as the index number, the function would need to return "#0066CC".. However if I would supply 0.2, the function would need to return an average color between the two colors, but still closer to color1 than to color2.. If I would supply index number 0.5, I would get the exact average color of both colors.. I have been trying to accomplish this for several days now but I can't seem to figure it out..! Any help would therefor be greatly appreciated!.. Thanks!

  Hi everybody: I'm sure I'm missing something and the answer is very simple, but I can't seem to understand why this is happening. I'm trying to make an average of dates: NSInteger runningSum =0; NSInteger count=0; for (EventoData *event in self.events) { NSDate *dateFromString = [[NSDate alloc] init]; if (event.date != nil) { dateFromString = [dateFormatter dateFromString:event.date]; runningSum += (NSInteger)[dateFromString timeIntervalSince1970]; count += 1; } } if (count>0) { NSLog(@"average is: %@",[NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSince1970:(NSInteger)((CGFloat)runningAverage/count)]); } Everything seems to work OK, except for runningSum += (NSInteger)[dateFromString timeIntervalSince1970], which gives an incorrect result. If I put a breakpoint when taking the average of two equal dates (2009-10-10, for example, which is a timeInterval of 1255125600), runningSum is -1784716096, instead of the expected 2510251200. I've tried using NSNumber and I get the same result. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks! Antonio

  Hi, I'm trying to superpose two GwtCanvas (which use an Html5 canvas). I am able to get this effect by using an absolute panel. But by doing this, I can't get my object to fill my panel. I would like to this so I can do a whiteboard in GWT. So far, I'm pretty advance but I would like to have multiple canvas overlay to support undo or preview. For example, if we draw a rectangle, it would be good to preview it as we move the mouse. I have found a javascript tutorial to do this : ex: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/html5-canvas-painting/ There is a javascript example, but I'm not sure how to do the bridge between GWT and JavaScript. Any ideas ?

  having to do with data integrity - I maintain a coldfusion database at a small shop that keeps addresses of different contacts. These contacts sometimes contain notes in them. When you are merging two duplicate contacts, one may be created in 2002 and one in 2008. If the contact in 2002 has notes prior to 2008, my question would be does it matter if you merge these contacts and keep the 2008 contact's ID number? Would that affect the data integrity or create any sort of issues with the notes earlier than 2008? I hope I've accurately described my scenario, as I am not familiar with the proper technical terms.   I'm creating a simple PHP page that reads CSV file content and display some selected columns to users in pages Currently, I'm reading each line and display it immediately. Because of this method, I only know total of lines after finishing reading entire file( searching in file also). What I want is displaying two page navigations on the top and bottom of the list. Like this: Page 1|2|3|4 Field 1|Field 2|Field 3|Field 4|Field 5....|Field n Row1 Row2 .... Rown Page 1|2|3|4 After displaying all rows, bottom page nav, I used jquery function: insertBefore to insert another page navi to the top. Problems are: 1) Top page nav not displayed in IE8 but displayed ater pressing F5(worked in FF, Chrome). 2) Using insertBefore function, the top page nav is suddenly poppep up afer displaying the bottom one. It doesn't look naturally Any suggestion?

  Hi, I wan't to compare two strings in a SQL request so I can retrieve the best match, the aim is to propose to an operator the best zip code possible. For example, in France, we have Integer Zip code, so I made an easy request : SELECT * FROM myTable ORDER BY abs(zip_code - 75000) This request returns first the data closest of Paris. Unfortunatelly, United Kingdom have zip code like AB421RS, so my request can't do it. I see in SQL Server a function 'Difference' : http://www.java2s.com/Code/SQLServer/String-Functions/DIFFERENCEworkoutwhenonestringsoundssimilartoanotherstring.htm But I use MySQL.. Is there anyone who have a good idea to do the trick in one simple request ? PS : the Levenshtein Distance will not do it, as I really wan't to compare string like if they were number. ABCDEF have to be closer to AWXYZ than to ZBCDEF.

  Hi, I would like to have a ListView that would have have items similar to Microsoft Outlook inbox with items arranged by Conversations (see the attached photo). An item can either be a simple textblock containing the topic of the conversation (on the photo this are the blue lines) or it can contain email information specified by the ListView's header. It would be best if the items with conversation topics would be push buttons so that emails inside that conversation could be shown or hidden by pressing this button. Any ideas how can I achieve this? Do I specify two ListViewItem templates? If yes, how do I tell in the code which template to use for each item? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!   For some basic layout work I'm doing, I'd like links that immediately follow a price to always be shown on the same line as the price. The price text is wrapped in a <span class="price"> tag while the link uses the buy-link class as in <a href="/buy" class="buy-link">Buy Now</a>. I'm looking for CSS that will automatically prevent line breaking between the span and a tag but I'm either missing something or it can't be done. I can easily prevent line breaks within the two tags - but not between them. I want to avoid wrapping both tags in a span with a white-space: nowrap manually and use pure CSS if possible.

• How to merge two FBOs?

  OK so I have 4 buffers, 3 FBOs and a render buffer. Let me explain. I have a view FBO, which will store the scene before I render it to the render buffer. I have a background buffer, which contains the background of the scene. I have a user buffer, which the user manipulates. When the user makes some action I draw to the user buffer, using some blending. Then to redraw the whole scene what I want to do is clear the view buffer, draw the background buffer to the view buffer, change the blending, then draw the user buffer to the view buffer. Finally render the view buffer to the render buffer. However I can't figure out how to draw a FBO to another FBO. What I want to do is essentially merge and blend two FBOs, but I can't figure out how! I'm very new to OpenGL ES, so thanks for all the help.

• C#: Two forms, one is calling the other one

  Hey all, I have a problem like this, I have two Winforms, f1 and f2. f1 will start a loop on button click, this loop checks a condition and decide to call the other form which is f2 or not. The problem is, the loop may call f2 many times, so each time the other form f2 will be called the first form f1 should pause its execution. So, I solved it like this, I used backgroundWorker + AutoResetEvent. I placed the backgroundWorker in the first form and inside the DoWork event handler I called f2.Show() then I called WaitOne on the AutoResetEvent let it be A. In the other form "f2", on Exiting button I called Set on the same A. But, unfortunately f2 got freezed when clicking that button in f1, what should I change??
