• Replay UDP Packet Capture

  I have a UDP packet capture which was streamed from Port1 on IP1 to Port2 on IP2 on network N1. I need to replay these packets on another network N2 from Port3 on IP3 to Port4 on IP4. I need to know what software to use in order to do this and how I would go about replaying these packets so that I can detect/capture them again in N2. So far, I've tried strictly replaying these packets using a program called Colasoft Packet Player, with little luck. I'd appreciate any help on this. Thank you in advance

• Computer doesn't start up apart from lights/noise

  One of my computers doesn't boot up or at least nothing appears on my screen (not even the bios). It still makes some noise and the lights stay on, but not any beeping like I have heard computer make when start up fails. Before this happened my screen would occasionally have a strange image appear than crash (usually around startup). It would also sometimes just freeze without the image appearing. Any suggestions for how I can attempt to identify the problem?

• FTP error 424 failed to establish connection

  Getting "ftp error 425 failed to establish connection" when trying to connect to ftp server. Tried 2 ftp clients on 3 machines on same network and none work. However FTP works from home / mobile broadband. No ip blocks on ftp sever. Other ftp servers(differrent ip/hosts) work okay. firewall setup correct, no ports blocked. Is it possible to use a proxy for ftp a i think it's something with the ISP but taking too long to fix?

• Windows 8 Fails to resume from sleep

  I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen. I didn't have this issue using Windows 7. • Textmate add multiline text at end of line

  In Textmate, I am able to add text to several lines at once by clicking and holding the Option key and dragging with the mouse. say I have the following lines: foo 1: foo 2: foo 3: I can easily click and hold option and then drag down with the lines to select the text at the end of each line, and then type "bar" once and it will be added to all lines, as such: foo 1: bar foo 2: bar foo 3: bar Fantastic. The problem I run into, is when my lines aren't the same length, as such foo 19: foo 37842342346: foo 503: Now if I want to add text to the end of each line, I have to either do it manually, or choose enough space so that the longest line is not overwritten, as such: foo 19: bar foo 37842342346: bar foo 503: bar This results in a lot of unwanted whitespace in lines that don't need it. Granted, I could easily run a regular expression search to replace all multiple occurrences of a space with a single one, but I was wondering if there's a way to select all ending of lines at once without having to do that. • nVidia Control Panel Won't Recognize SLI

  So yesterday I bought a brand new, 1,000W PSU to replace my 650W one and to allow for SLI. I install it and my second card (both are GTX 560 ti cards). I reinstalled my drivers and my system recognizes both cards. The control panel says "GTX 560 ti x2", I can select between them for Physx, sound output, picture output (although I only have one hooked up to my monitor), etc. But the kicker is I can't turn on SLI. Everything I've read says I'll get a balloon notification saying I can use SLI and the control panel will have a new section, etc, but none of those things happens. Anyone have any ideas? System: Win7 Professional x64 2x GTX 560 ti 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 1,000W Xion PSU 8GB RAM (Can't think of my motherboard right now) Note: My PSU and MOBO both say they're SLI certified and I'm using an SLI bridge. • Outlook 2010 "forgets" password

  I am running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 Pro x64 on a domain. Outlook is connecting to exchange, and the username and password should be pulled from my logon credentials. The problem is, about every few hours, outlook "forgets" what my password is. In the taskbar, a caution triangle appears, and in the bottom right hand corner of exchange, a "Needs Password" replaces "Connected to Microsoft Exchange." Simply clicking "Needs Password" fixes the issue, and new messages are downloaded. What could the issue be? What could be timing out? • Couldn't dual boot Vista and Centos 5.4

  Hi all, Today I have installed Centos 5.4 with dual boot with Vista. Everything was fine, but after testing Centos 5.4, when I tried to load Vista, it did not load. After selecting vista from grub menu, it shows the following message: rootnoverify (hd0, 1) chainloader +1 No bootmgr found I googled and try to fix the boot but failed, Then I restart my machine, boot with vista cd and in rescue option, restore my bootmgr by typing bootrec /fixmbr What happened after that, I can load at vista now, but no grub menu shows :P It seems the Centos went totally invisible. I am using dual booting Ubuntu 9.10 and vista in my laptop and its working fine and with no error from the beginning. But installed Centos for one of my project needs and I need it running asap. So I am feeling very helpless. Please help me anyone out there. I know there are many people knows how to fix it. Please help me.. Thanks in advance.

• Alternative to WMP for mp3 player sync

  I've been using WMP to sync to my Creative Zen since I bought it a year ago. It worked fine when my collection was still smaller than its capacity, but that's no longer the case, and I can't find any way to specify which music should be synced/not synced. WMP's sync by alphabetical order is an unacceptable option. What I think I want is something that would show my collection organized by artist/album/song (with file size info) in a treeview with checkboxes that saves my selections so I just have make adjustments as needed with new albums instead of having to rebuild my list from scratch every time.

  I have installed the AlternaTIFF viewer in IE (both 6 and 7, on separate computers), but based on the results of the test page, it is not being recognized as the default TIFF viewer inside Internet Explorer. It is installed and functioning, just not used by default. Is there any way to force IE to use AlternaTIFF as the default plugin to render TIFF files?

• Good, secure video chat program

  I'm looking for something similar to skype but basically just for me to video chat with my girlfriend. Skype has been kind of buggy lately with its recent iterations and doesn't seem to be progressing as much as when it was with its previous backers. Are there any good, secure video chat programs? Something that customizable and lets you choose framerate vs pixelation and is generally secure (I don't care if the NSA can tap it but no one else, especially over unencrypted wifi's). Open source is preferred but not required. Free or really really cheap is practically required. Also, since this is point to point, an i am a power user (and my gf as well), it can involve some manual setup to establish a point-to-point link. Any suggestions, Thanks.

• Windows 7 Computer Maintenance - Restore removed Desktop Shortcuts

  I'm aware about the inbuilt nightmate 'tool' of Microsofts which is making every network administrators job a nightmare (if left turned on). In short it'll happily delete every desktop shortcut to a network resource. We have it disabled by default. My question is related to recovering these shortcuts, Windows doesn't seem to dump them into the Recycle Bin and although you can 'restore previous versions' of the Desktop folder, you are unable to do it with the user logged in... Rather a problem if you only have the 1 user account. We have a user who (although the 'Computer Maintenance' tool is turned off) had it come up in 'Action Centre' and chose to run it. I've been unable to reproduce it, but the tool has certainly run (and removed 24 shortcuts from her desktop) although it is still saying 'Windows is not checking your system for maintenance problems'. ?! Very fustrating! Any ideas if these shortcuts are backed up/moved elsewhere so i can easily find and restore them?

• Windows Key is shutting my PC with Windows 7 down when pressed

  I am having a really annoying problem lately with my Windows 7 PC. The problem, is all of a sudden, just within the last day or 2, anytime I hit the WIN (Windows keyboard key) instead of popping up the start menu, the system shuts down all my programs and trys to shut down, the only reason it doesn't suceed is because one of the programs I will have running will have an un-saved document, so it will ask me if I want to save the document before shutting down, I then can hit cancel and it halts the process. I do not remember installing anything and programs from from around the time it started doing this, maybe 2-3 days ago. I have gone through and searched Google for every Process running in the taskmanager to see which processes were REQUIRED for Windows to run, I then closed eveything down and killed all the non-essential Processes and the result was this... The reason you see notepad.exe is because I had it open with an unsaved document to keep the system from shutting down, I then tried hitting the win key after I shut each process down, after everything was shut to just show the above, it still tries to shut my system down, this is driving me insane, please help I am at a lost. I am about to see if I can try a different keyboard just encase it is some malfunction on the keyboard. The reason I need to access the WIN key or would like to is because I have Win + v set up to work with a special clipboard manager I believe it is called ClipX

• Using the vim split command from the command line to get 4 quater splits

  I want to open four vim files on the command line: vim file1 file2 file3 But I would like each file to be opened in a separate split: vim -c "split file1" -c "split file2" -c "split file3" file4 (The above splits the screen horizontally 4 times) Ideally what I would like to do is split the screen into 4 squares like: |-------|-------| | | | | | | |-------|-------| | | | | | | |-------|-------| I know how to do this once vim is open but I am unable to do this from the command line (using vs). • router only assigns small number of IPs

  Been having a problem with my router for a while now, might just be because it is really old but here's the problem: If a lot of computers are connected to my home network someone will get disconnected. They are assigned IPs and it seems like at a certain point (and I don't know how many) you either get assigned the same IP as someone else or something else is happening and you get disconnected - until i soft reset it and it works again which takes 30 secs. I'd say my tablet, my PC, my sisters iPad, 2 laptops and a netbook is the most that can be connected at one time so that is 6 but that should be fine. The only way I know this is the problem is because I turned on my tablet and I was online on my PC, got disconnected but my tablet was still connected, this is just after i turned the tablet on so I know my router is having difficulty with IPs, it is like it assigned the same IP to the tablet which then clashed with my desktop and knocked me off. I see that sometimes the following solves it as well so I wrote a batch file with a menu to execute these commands as I have to do it so often. ipconfig /release ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /renew Any ideas? Or shall I just get a new router as this one is old and maybe can't handle giving out that many IPs? Cheers!

• KeePass: use a key file or a regular password?

  I'm setting up a KeePass database and it offers the ability to use a key file, which it says is more secure because it can use a longer and more complex password but is easier to break because you only need the key file to open the database. I'll only be using the key file on 2 computers (one desktop and one laptop), wo which is the best option? Note that it's definitely more appealing to use the key file for me because i have a hard time remembering anything close to a random password.
