• ASP.net error message when using REST starter kit

  Hi all, I've written some code using the REST starter kit and it works fine on my development machine. However, when I upload it to our server the page gives me the following error message... CS1684: Warning as Error: Reference to type 'System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer' claims it is defined in 'c:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.ServiceModel.Web\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.ServiceModel.Web.dll', but it could not be found I've removed code line by line and it appears that the following line of code is triggering the error... HttpContent newOrganizationContent = HttpContentExtensions.CreateXmlSerializable(newOrganizationXml); Really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I assumed it might be because it needs a newer version of the framework to run, but looking in IIS it says it's running version 2.0.50727 which I think is the lates version because it says that even when we're using framework 3.5 Very confused, any ideas? The project is complete so all of the code is done and I don't really want to write all the classes / functions manually, so I was trying to generate the diagram from the source code but can't seem to find a way to do it. • PHP auto refresh page without losing user input

  I'm working on a PHP collaboration software project. I have a page that shows the latest updates from other users who are adding content to the database, but also has a form input to allow the user to enter text. I am currently using this code to refresh the page automatically every 30 seconds: header('Refresh: 30'); The problem is that the header code refreshes the entire page, and not just what is pulled from the database. Is there any PHP code that will just pull any new data from the database without refreshing the entire page? If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

• What are good ways to guarantee business continuity with a SaaS product?

  For my Bachelor Thesis I am researching how SaaS providers can arrange some sort of business continuity guarantee. You probably know the Source Code Escrow arrangements for 'shrink-wrapped' software. They give customers access to the source code and all applicable documentation whenever the software supplier gets into (financial) trouble. This clearly does not work for SaaS, because customers have no use for just the source code, and customers probably can not afford not being able to login to their CRM system for a couple weeks because the SaaS provider went bankrupt. I am currently researching different methods to solve this problem. Do you know good and practical solutions to solve this continuity problem? Or companies that already offer a good solution? How can i check that i just add one li each time you hit enter. Hope you get the problem!

  I'm trying to reading part of HTML source code from website that has been encapsulated by javascript;basically i'm trying to read email which appears in webview but not in real source code using NSString method of 'NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:(NSURL *)url'. it looks like code showing up before hitting up the inner java script (which executes and shows the email address to show). are there any way i can get into NSString the contents that I viewed over UIWebview? I tried to use the method 'webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString' it worked for only displaying through webview browser didn't return any string value. Are there anyway I can get the string?

• iPhone: Interface Builder leaks memory?

  I have been working on an iPhone project, where we created all the user interface programmatically in code. Now I'm going to start a new iPhone project and thinking of using Interface Builder instead, because it has been recommended to me as being a very useful tool, creating less headache than writing everything in code and in general much faster (regarding development time). However, my team members have some concerns due to previous problems with using Interface Builder and resulting memory leaks. Therefor they suggest building everything in code again. I don't know where these concerns come from, but maybe someone with more experience than we have can give some insight on that topic. Doing a simple Google search doesn't really provide any information proofing that there are any problems with memory leaks created by the Interface Builder itself.

• How to prevent Visual Studio setting my default font sizes in an inherited control

  I have a base class for all my textboxes and I want to set the default font in that class. So I started with this: public partial class MyTextBox : TextBox { public WmlTextBox() { InitializeComponent(); //Font for the whole application can be altered in the Appearance class Font = new Appearance().TextBoxFont; } } I then stripped out all the code in the form that was setting the font of the textboxes. Of course this worked fine until I altered an item on the page. Visual Studio picked up the default font for the application (set in the Appearance class), and generated code in the designer for all TextBoxes to set it to that specific font. How can I stop visual studio from generating code from my default font? I want to allow the developers to change the property, but I want to set the default font centrally.

• What's the fastest way to check the availability of a SQL Server server?

  I have an MS Access program in use in multiple locations. It connects to MS SQL Server tables, but the server name is different in each location. I am looking for the fastest way to test for the existence of a server. The interviewee gets a laptop, with the editor and compiler of his choice. He or she then get a programming exercise and has about an hour to code it. Depending on the nature of the question, internet access is either allowed or forbidden. I'm looking for good general questions for a junior developer. I don't care what language they choose to program in. C++ is as good as Python or Scheme, as long as (s)he can program in it (this rules out "can you write a correct copy-constructor" style questions). I just want to see how they code, if their code is self-documenting, if they write tests, check edge-cases, etc. What kind of questions would you ask?

  I know I can use activate_plugin() from inside a given, active plugin in WordPress, to activate another plugin. But what I want to know is how do I programmatically check if that plugin is already active? For instance, this snippet of code can be temporarily added to an existing plugin's initial file to activate a partner plugin: add_action('wp','activatePlugins'); function activatePlugins() { if( is_single() || is_page() || is_home() || is_archive() || is_category() || is_tag()) { @ activate_plugin('../mypartnerplugin/thepluginsmainfile.php'); } } Then, use a Linux command line tool to spider all your sites that have this code, and it will force a page view. That page view will cause the above code to fire and activate that other plugin. That's how to programmatically activate another plugin from a given plugin as far as I can tell. But the problem is that it gets activated over and over and over again. What would be great is if I had an if/then condition and some function I could call in WordPress to see if that plugin is already activated, and only activate it once if not active.

I also understand that to, subject and body are method calls.   Consider the following entity class, used with, for example, EclipseLink 2.0.2 - where the link attribute is not the primary key, but unique nontheless. @Entity public class Profile { @Id private Long id; @Column(unique = true) private String link; // Some more attributes and getter and setter methods } When I insert records with a duplicate value for the link attribute, EclipseLink does not throw a EntityExistsException, but throws a DatabaseException, with the message explaining that the unique constraint was violated. This doesn't seem very usefull, as there would not be a simple, database independent, way to catch this exception. What would be the advised way to deal with this? A few things that I have considered are: Checking the error code on the DatabaseException - I fear that this error code, though, is the native error code for the database; Checking the existence of a Profile with the specific value for link beforehand - this obviously would result in an enormous amount of superfluous queries.

  hey everybody, I have a jsp page which contains the code which prints all files in a given directory and their file paths. For example, the code spits out the following path: /usr/local/tomcat/sites/web_tech/images/scores/blah.jpg and I want it to only print the path up to /images ie /images/scores/blah.jpg I know I could just mess around with an actual string, ie splitting it or string matching, but is there an easier way to do it? • Simple way to reorder methods of a Java class in IntelliJ?

  Is there a simpler way of reordering methods within a class source file in IntelliJ than cutting and pasting the code manually? Nowadays I often need this while refactoring legacy code, e.g. to move related methods close to each other in the source code. In Eclipse AFAIK there is a view similar to the Structure view of IntelliJ, where I can drag and drop methods around. However, this does not work in IntelliJ and I couldn't find any hints from its help either. I am using IntelliJ 9.0.2 to be specific.

The request made will just receive a response from the original JSPX that was navigated to. Code like this works fine: public void afterPhase(PhaseEvent event) { FacesContext fc = event.getFacesContext(); NavigationHandler nh = fc.getApplication().getNavigationHandler(); nh.handleNavigation(fc, null, "OUTCOME_DEFINED_IN_FACES_CONFIG_XML"); } Also the first snippet will work with an IceFaces Faces provider, but not Sun JSF 1.2 which is what I need to use. Is there something I can do to fix the code so it is possible to forward to specific URLs?

• Supporting more than one codebase in ANSI-C

  I am working on a project, with an associated Ansi-C code base. (let me call this the 'main' codebase). I now am confronted with a typical problem (stated below), which I believe I would be able to solve much easily if I had an object-oriented language at hand. The problem is this: I will have to start more than one codebases; i.e. I will have to start supporting a parallel codebase (even maybe more in the future). The initial codebases for all the new (i.e. parallel) codebases will initially be identical as the old (i.e. 'main') codebase. As we are talking about the 'C' language, I have till now been thinking of adding '#ifdef' statements to code, and writing the branch-spacific code inside those 'ifdef' blocks. Hoping that I made the problem clear (enough!), I would like to hear thoughts on clever patterns that would help me handle this problem elegantly in Ansi C. Cheers
