• SharePoint webpart with button to auto-login to 3rd party website

  I have been tasked with creating a SharePoint 2007 webpart that logs the user directly into our website (which uses forms authentication). Most likely the username and password will be same in the SharePoint account as in our website. Ideally we would like it to be fully integrated in that the webpart looks up the SP login & password, somehow encodes that using SHA1, MD5 or similar encryption, then passes that along to our login page on the query string. However given we have little experience with SharePoint, and that it's probably impossible to programmatically access the SP username/password from a webpart we realize this isn't very likely to be possible and if so would probably require a lot of development time. Another option would be to load a login form from the website within an iframe in the webpart, which would show the login & password first but store a "remember me" cookie after the first login, and on each subsequent load display just a button that logs them in directly using the cookie. Has anyone done something similar before? I'm in over my head, any guidance would be much appreciated! :)

• caching previous return values of procedures in scheme

  In Chapter 16 of "The Seasoned Schemer", the authors define a recursive procedure "depth", which returns 'pizza nested in n lists, e.g (depth 3) is (((pizza))). They then improve it as "depthM", which caches its return values using set! in the lists Ns and Rs, which together form a lookup-table, so you don't have to recurse all the way down if you reach a return value you've seen before. E.g. If I've already computed (depthM 8), when I later compute (depthM 9), I just lookup the return value of (depthM 8) and cons it onto null, instead of recursing all the way down to (depthM 0). But then they move the Ns and Rs inside the procedure, and initialize them to null with "let". Why doesn't this completely defeat the point of caching the return values? From a bit of experimentation, it appears that the Ns and Rs are being reinitialized on every call to "depthM". Am I misunderstanding their point? I guess my question is really this: Is there a way in Scheme to have lexically-scoped variables preserve their values in between calls to a procedure, like you can do in Perl 5.10 with "state" variables?

  I want to make an application for pocket PCs to send and receive Encrypted text messages. I have already made an application that gets special text messages ( starting with !farenc! ) and I know how to Encrypt/Decrypt the messages as well. The problem is that I don't know how to edit a text message after it's arrived (for decryption). • Javascript to fire event when a key pressed on the Ajax Toolkit Combo box.

  I have the following drop down list which is using the Ajax Toolkit to provide a combo box <cc1:ComboBox ID="txtDrug" runat="server" style="font-size:8pt; width:267px;" Font-Size="8pt" DropDownStyle="DropDownList" AutoCompleteMode="SuggestAppend" AutoPostBack="True" ontextchanged="txtDrug_TextChanged" /> Now I need to load this up with approx 7,000 records which takes a considerable time, and effects the response times when the page is posted back and forth. The code which loads these records is as follows; dtDrugs = wsHelper.spGetAllDrugs(); txtDrug.DataValueField = "pkDrugsID"; txtDrug.DataTextField = "drugName"; txtDrug.DataSource = dtDrugs; txtDrug.DataBind(); However if I could get an event to fire when a letter is typed instead of having to load 7000 records it is reduced to less than 50 in most instances. I think this can be done in Javascript. So the question is how can I get an event to fire such that when the form starts there is nothing in the drop down, but as soon as a key is pressed it searches for those records starting with that letter. The .Net side of things I'm sure about - it is the Javascript I'm not. Thanks in advance

  I'm very new to MVC and I'm trying to get a new site set up using it. For SEO reasons we need to make the url of a page something like "Recruiter/4359/John_Smith" or basically {controller}/{id}/{name}. I have that working when I create the url in the code behind like so... //r is a recruiter object that is part of the results for the view r.Summary = searchResult.Summary + "... &lt;a href=\"/Recruiter/" + r.Id + "/" + r.FirstName + "_" + r.LastName + "\"&gt;Read More&lt;/a&gt;" But when I am using the collection of results from a search in my view and iterating through them I am trying to create another link to the same page doing something like <%=Html.ActionLink<RecruiterController>(x => x.Detail((int)r.Id), r.RecruiterName)%> but that doesn't work. When I use that code in the view it gives me a url in the form of /Recruiter/Detail/4359 I was told by a coworker that I should use the Html.ActionLink to create the link in both the view and the controller so that if the route changes in the future it will automatically work. Unfortunately he wasn't sure how to do that in this case. So, my problems are... How can I make the Html.ActionLink work in the view to create a url like I need (like r.Summary above)? How do I use the Html.ActionLink in a controller instead of hardcoding the link like I have above?

• WPF - Transparency - Stream Desktop Content

  Greetings I'm in the process of making a Scoreboard for a game (Starcraft II). This scoreboard is being made as a WPF Application with a C# code-behind. I already have a version which works for 90% in WinForms but I lacked the support to easily make it look a lot nicer which are available in WPF. The point of this application will be to form a kind of overlay on top of a running game. This game is in Fulscreen(Windowed Mode) so when in WinForms I coded it so that it should always be on top. It would do so and that was no problem. Since the main look of the app in WPF is based on an image with a transparent background I have set most Background values to Transparent. However when I do this the entire application does not get registered by streaming software. For example it just shows my Desktop or the game I'm playing but not my application even though it IS there. I can see it with my own eyes but the audience on the stream cannot. Does anyone have any experience with this matter because it's really doing my head in. My entire application will be useless if it is not visible on streams. If I have to put the background on a color rather than transparent the UI will be completely demolished as well in terms of looks. I'm basically trying to make a game-overlay in C# & WPF. I have read you can do this on different ways as well but I have little to no knowledge of C++ nor do I know anything about DirectX Thank you for your time reading and your possible insights. Edit: The best solution would be an overlay similar to that one of Steam/Xfire/Dolby Axon. Edit 2: I've had no luck with all the suggestions so I basically made the transparent bits of my image non transparent and let the user decide which one to use depending on what streaming software they would be using.

However, I have an additional requirement to break the questionnaires out into their own tables grouped by the milestone they are associated to, rather than in a single table. It appears as though the group_by method is design to accomplish this, but I cannot get it to work as desired inside the tag. It may be that I'm missing something obvious, as I am a beginner... Any help is appreciated.

• How do you keep application logic separate from UI when UI components have built-in functionality?

  I know it's important to keep user interface code separated from domain code--the application is easier to understand, maintain, change, and (sometimes) isolate bugs. But here's my mental block ... Delphi comes with components with methods that do what I want, e.g., a RichText Memo component lets me work with rich text. Other components, like TMS's string grid not only do what I want, but I paid extra for the functionality. These features put the R in RAD. It seems illogical to write my own classes to do things somebody else has already done for me. It's reinventing the wheel [ever tried working directly with rich text? :-) ] But if I use the functionality built into components like these, then I will end up with lots of intermingled UI and domain code--I'll have a form with most of my code built into its event handlers. How do you deal with this issue? ... Or, if I want to continue using the code others have already written for me, how would you suggest I deal with the issue?

• Most elegant way to break CSV columns into separate data structures using Python?

  I'm trying to pick up Python. As part of the learning process I'm porting a project I wrote in Java to Python. I'm at a section now where I have a list of CSV headers of the form: headers = [a, b, c, d, e, .....] and separate lists of groups that these headers should be broken up into, e.g.: headers_for_list_a = [b, c, e, ...] headers_for_list_b = [a, d, k, ...] . . . I want to take the CSV data and turn it into dict's based on these groups, e.g.: list_a = [ {b:val_1b, c:val_1c, e:val_1e, ... }, {b:val_2b, c:val_2c, e:val_2e, ... }, {b:val_3b, c:val_3c, e:val_3e, ... }, . . . ] where for example, val_1b is the first row of the 'b' column, val_3c is the third row of the 'c' column, etc. My first "Java instinct" is to do something like: for row in data: for col_num, val in enumerate(row): col_name = headers[col_num] if col_name in group_a: dict_a[col_name] = val elif headers[col_cum] in group_b: dict_b[col_name] = val ... list_a.append(dict_a) list_b.append(dict_b) ... However, this method seems inefficient/unwieldy and doesn't posses the elegance that Python programmers are constantly talking about. Is there a more "Zen-like" way I should try- keeping with the philosophy of Python?

• drupal themes: .info file: how do I add more than 1 css file / js file to my theme?

  I'm creating a new Drupal theme. Until now, I only needed to include a single css file and a single js file. So my theme.info file had something like this: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css scripts[] = js/script.js Now I must include jquery and jquery-ui in order to use a calendar date. These come with 2 new javascript files, and 1 additonal css file that I must add to the site. The calendar input form is going to be used in all pages (on a side block) so it is ok for me to load the extra css/javascript on all pages. I think the easiest thing would be to reference them on the .info file itself. At first I tried to just put them there with separate spaces: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css scripts[] = js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js js/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js js/reservations.js I emptied drupal's cache and... none of them loaded. I then tried separating each file with a comma, and flushing the cache again. Same result. I've browsed some drupal pages, but could not find how to add several javascript/css files on one theme (they always seem to add just 1 of each). So, how do I include several css/javascript files on the .info file?

• Grails - Removing an item from a hasMany association List on data bind?

  Grails offers the ability to automatically create and bind domain objects to a hasMany List, as described in the grails user guide. So, for example, if my domain object "Author" has a List of many "Book" objects, I could create and bind these using the following markup (from the user guide): <g:textField name="books[0].title" value="the Stand" /> <g:textField name="books[1].title" value="the Shining" /> <g:textField name="books[2].title" value="Red Madder" /> In this case, if any of the books specified don't already exist, Grails will create them and set their titles appropriately. If there are already books in the specified indices, their titles will be updated and they will be saved. My question is: is there some easy way to tell Grails to remove one of those books from the 'books' association on data bind? The most obvious way to do this would be to omit the form element that corresponds to the domain instance you want to delete; unfortunately, this does not work, as per the user guide: Then Grails will automatically create a new instance for you at the defined position. If you "skipped" a few elements in the middle ... Then Grails will automatically create instances in between. I realize that a specific solution could be engineered as part of a command object, or as part of a particular controller- however, the need for this functionality appears repeatedly throughout my application, across multiple domain objects and for associations of many different types of objects. A general solution, therefore, would be ideal. Does anyone know if there is something like this included in Grails?

• Confirm box always displays first (javascript, jQuery, .Net)

  Hello, I have a jQuery-Script to accomplish the following tasks: if a gridview in my form contains a row with a certain id, it has to be marked red. a confirm dialogue has to pop up to ask the user if he wants to do this or that. Only after using the box, it becomes red. How would I get the row to be turned red at once? Another of my problems is that the confirm box denies my page to be scrolled down. But I would like to do this if the gridview is longer than the entire page.

  Hello, I am tying to use this code http://gist.github.com/110410 to dump Prototype in favor of jQuery but I do have a problem. I suspect that the submit gets thru which causes a page reload. Is there an elegant way to prevent that ? return false; doesn't seem to cut it in this case.

  I'm trying to test out the SugarCRM REST API, running latest version of CE (6.0.1). It seems that whenever I do a query, the API returns "null", nothing else. If I omit the parameters, then the API returns the API description (which the documentation says it should). I'm trying to perform a login, passing as parameter the method (login), input_type and response_type (json) and rest_data (JSON encoded parameters).   I have a HomeController with an Index action that shows the Index.aspx view. It has a username/password login section. When the user clicks the submit button, it POSTs to a Login action in the AccountController. <% Html.BeginForm("Login", "Account", FormMethod.Post); %> In that action, it tests for Username/Password validity and if invalid, sends the user back to the Login page with a message that the credentials were bad. • SSL + Jquery + Ajax

  Hi I starting too look at a bit of security into my site. My site I would consider a very low security risk as it has really no personal information from the user other than email. However the security risk will go up a bit as I am partnering with a company and the initial password for this companies users will be the same password they use essentially to get onto the network and every piece of software. So I have up my security( what is fine by me...I wanted to get around to this anyways). So one of my security concerns is this. A user logs in. form submit(non ajax is done). Password is hashed & Salted and compared to one in the database. Reject or let them proceed. So this uses no jquery or ajax but is just asp.net mvc and C#. Still if my understanding is right the password is sent in clear text. So if a use SSL and I would not need to worry about that is this correct? If that is true is that all I need? Second the user can change their password at anytime. This is done through ajax. So when the password is sent it is sent in clear text( and I can verify this by looking at firebug). So if I have SSL enabled on this page is that all I need or do I need to do more? So I am just kinda confused of what I need to make the password being sent to the server(both ajax and full post ways secure). I am not sure if I need to do more then SSL or if that is enough and if it is not enough what is the next layer of security?

• jQuery autocomplete on multiple fields

  Hi all, Surprisingly, I didn't find any answers to my question. I want to make a form on jQuery with two fields. City Code. City Name. and when I enter a city code and go out of the field. I want an autocomplete on the city name. I'm looking for a method to trigger this autocomplete search on the field. do you know a way or a plugin able to do this search ? thanks in advance BTW : the PHP code behin is totally tested and works, it returns the data when doing the call.

• Having trouble hiding keyboard using invisible button which sits on top of uiscrollview

  I have 3 items in play... 1) UIView sits at the base of the hierarchy and contains the UIScrollview. 2) UIScrollview that is presenting a lengthy user form. 3) An invisible button on the UIScrollview that I'm using to provide "hide the keyboard" features. Notice in the code below that I'm registering to be notified when the keyboard is going to appear and again when it's going to disappear. These are working great. My problem is seemingly one of "layers". See below where I insert the button into the view atIndex:0. This causes the button to be activated and "stuffed" behind the scrollview so that when you click on it, the scrollview grabs the touch and the button is unaware. There is no way to "reach" the button and suppress the keyboard. However, if I insert atIndex:1, the button gets super imposed on top of the text entry fields and so any touch at all is acted upon by the button, which immediately suppresses the keyboard and then disappears. How do I insert the button on top of the UIScrollview but behind the UITextfields that sit there? other logistics: I have a -(void) hidekeyboard function that I have setup with the UIButtion as an IBAction(). And I have the UIButton connected to "files owner" via a ctrl-drag/drop. (Do I need both of those conventions?) This code in ViewDidLoad()... • Multithreaded Delegates/Events

  I am trying to disable parts of the UI in a .NET app based on polling done on a background thread. The background thread checks to see if the global database connection the app uses is still open and operable. What I need to do, and would prefer to do it without polling on the UI thread, is to add an event handler that can be raised by the background thread if the connection status changes. That way, any form can have a handler that will disable those parts of the UI that require the connection to function. Attempting to use a straight event declaration in the class that holds the thread sub, and raising the event in the background thread causing cross-thread execution errors regarding accessing UI controls from other threads. Obviously, there is a correct way to do this, but we have limited experience with events (single threaded apps mainly), and almost none with delegates. I've read through documentation and examples for delegates, and it seems to be closer to what we need, but I'm not sure how to make it work in this instance. The app is written mainly in VB.NET, but an example or help in C# is fine too.

• MEF Import Composition Issues

  I've read all the questions I can find regarding the issues of composing imports without exporting the containing class but I can't find a solution to my problem. Does anybody know a way to achieve what I'm trying to do? My module assemblies have forms and classes which they use internally. These forms need access to some of the exported contracts but imports are not loaded as they are not in the MEF 'composition tree' Host assembly: public class Host { public Host() { /* Compose parts here... */ } [Export(typeof(Licence))] public Licence LoadedLicence { get; set; } [Export(typeof(IModule))] public List<IModule> LoadedModules { get; set; } } Module assembly: [Export(typeof(IModule))] public class Module : IModule { public Module() { } public void DoSomething() { SubForm sub = new SubForm(); sub.ShowDialog(); } [Import(typeof(Licence))] public Licence LoadedLicence { get; set; } // This works here } public class SubForm : Form { public SubForm () { } [Import(typeof(Licence))] public Licence LoadedLicence { get; set; } // This doesn't work in here } As far as I can see, my options are: Pass parameters to constructors (pain) Use a dummy export on the classes that need imports satisfying? • MVC3 DropDownListFor selected value does not reset if I set the Id

  I've read a lot of posts on here regarding the dropdown selected value issues (not showing etc etc...) but mine is the opposite problem. I want the drop down to always reset after the view is returned after a button submits the page through the controller action. So how I've structured it all works but is it possible to reset the dropdown list each time? I can't find a way to do it and I've tried a lot of ways, believe me. My View: @Model.PspSourceModel.PayAccount.PaymentProviderId <br /> @Html.DropDownListFor( x => x.PspSourceModel.PayAccount.PaymentProviderId, new SelectList(Model.PspSourceModel.PaymentProviders, "Value", "Text", "-- please select --"), "-- please select --" My Controller: // I've tried forcing the selected value id here - doesn't effect the dropdownlist still? pspVM.PspSourceModel.PayAccount.PaymentProviderId = 1; return (View(pspVM)); My Webpage shows: 1 (the id I set in the Action) dropdownlist with the id=6 or whatever value was chosen prior to submitting the form. From the questions and answers on SO and the wider web I thought the dropdownlist seems tied to the id you choose but how do I override that to reset the dropdown to 'please select' each time?
