  • Read HTML file into email

    Ive written a script to send html emails and all works well. I have the email stored in a separate HTML file which is then read in usin a while loop and fgets(). However, i want to be able to pass variables into the html. For example, in a html file i may have something like.. <body> Dear Name <br/> Thank you for your recent purhcase </body> and i read this into a string like so $file = fopen($filename, "r"); while(!feof($file)) { $html.= fgets($file, 4096); } fclose ($file); I want to be able to replace "Name" in the html file by a variable and im not entirely sure on the best way to do this. I could always make my own tag and then use regex to replace that with the name once ive read the file into the string, but im wondering if there is a better/easier method to do this. (On a side note, if anyone knows whether its better to use file_get_contents instead of multiple calls to fgets, id be interested to know)

  • Filling SWT table object using a separated thread class ...

    Hi all I've got a code snippet by the swt team that does exactly what I need. However, there is a part I want to separate into another class, in particular, the whole inline stuff. In response to my former question, it has been suggested that Callable should be used in order to implement threaded objects. It is suggested to make use of an implementation of runnable or better callable, since I do need some kind of return. However, I don't get it. My problems are: In the original code, within the inline implementation of the method run, some of the parents objects are called. How would I do this when the thread is separated? Pass the object via the C'tor's parameter? In the original code, another runnable object is nested within the runnable implementation. What is it good for? How to implement this when having separated the code? Furthermore, this nested runnable again calls objects created by the main method. Please, have mercy with me, but I am still quite a beginner and my brain is near collapsing :-( All I want is to separate all the threaded stuff into another class and make the program do just the same thing as it already does.   • PHP Json Encoding w/ quote escaping in 5.2?

    I'm playing with the flickr api and php. I want to pass some information from PHP to Javascript through Ajax. I have the following code: json_encode($pics); which results in the following example JSON string: [{"id":"4363603591","title":"blue, white and red...another seattle view","date_faved":"1266379499"},{"id":"4004908219","title":"\u201cI just told you my dreams and you made me see that I could walk into the sun and I could still be me and now I can't deny nothing lasts forever.\u201d","date_faved":"1259987670"}] Javascript has problems with this, however, due to the unescaped single-quote in the second item ("can't deny"). I want to use the function json_encode with the options parameter to make it strip the quotes, but that's only available in PHP 5.3, and I'm running 5.2 (not my server). Is there a fast way to run through the entire array and escape everything before encoding it in Json? I looked for a way to do this, but it all seems to deal with encoding it as the data is generated, something I cannot do as I'm not the one generating the data.     I am developing an online application form, which can be of two categories, either domestic/international. Each different type has commong questions, and also specific questions. They are approx 6 pages/steps of questions. The application form can also be saved at the end of each step, and can be completed at a later date. Some questions will vary depending on answers to previous questions, so there are some complex business rules. In terms of storage of results, would it be best to store the answers in and XML field in SQL? What would be the best way to reference a question to an answer.   • Multiple WCF calls for a single ASP.NET page load

    I have an existing asp.net web application I am redesigning to use a service architecture. I have the beginnings of an WCF service which I am able to call and perform functions with no problems. As far as updating data, it all makes sense. For example, I have a button that says Submit Order, it sends the data to the service, which does the processing. Here's my concern: If I have an ASP.NET page that shows me a list of orders (View Orders page), and at the top I have a bunch of drop down lists for order types, and other search criteria which is populated by querying different tables from the database (lookup tables, etc). I am hoping to eventually completely decouple the web application from the DB, and use data contracts to pass information between the BLL, the SOA, and the web app. With that said, how can I reduce the # of WCF calls needed to load my "View Orders" page? I would need to make 1 call get the list of orders, and 1 call for each drop down list, etc because those are populated by individual functions in my BLL. Is it good architecture to create a web service method that returns back a specialized data contract that consists of everything you would need to display a View Orders page, in 1 shot? Something like this pseudocode: public class ViewOrderPageDTO { public OrderDTO[] Orders { get; set; } public OrderTypesDTO[] OrderTypes { get; set; } public OrderStatusesDTO[] OrderStatuses { get; set; } public CustomerListDTO[] CustomerList { get; set; } } Or is it better practice in the page_load event to make 5 or 6 or even 15 individual calls to the SOA to get the data needed to load the page? Therefore, bypassing the need for specialized wcf methods or DTO's that conglomerate other DTO? Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Basically I have user table in MySql which contains email address, status of payment (paid,unpaid) and balance. Also I need it to loop to however many rows that were retrieved from the query as <3 in the for loop above.     Hey all, I'm trying my hand at creating a session which stores member information which the application can use to reveal certain navigation and allow access to certain pages and member role specific functionality. I've been able to assign my MemberLoggedIn object to the session in this way: //code excerpt start... MemberLoggedIn loggedIn = new MemberLoggedIn(); if (computedHash == member.Hash) { loggedIn.ID = member.ID; loggedIn.Username = member.Username; loggedIn.Email = member.Email; loggedIn.Superuser = member.Superuser; loggedIn.Active = member.Active; Session["loggedIn"] = loggedIn; } else if (ModelState.IsValid) { ModelState.AddModelError("Password", "Incorrect Username or Password."); } return View(); That works great. I then can send the properties of Session["loggedIn"] to the View in this way: [ChildActionOnly] public ActionResult Login() { if (Session["loggedIn"] != null) ViewData.Model = Session["loggedIn"]; else ViewData.Model = null; return PartialView(); } In the Partial View I can reference the session data by using Model.Username or Model.Superuser. However, it doesn't seem to work that way in the controller or in a custom Action Filter. Is there a way to get the equivalent of Session["loggedIn"].Username?

  • JDBC/OSGi and how to dynamically load drivers without explicitly stating dependencies in the bundle?

    Hi, This is a biggie. I have a well-structured yet monolithic code base that has a primitive modular architecture (all modules implement interfaces yet share the same classpath). I realize the folly of this approach and the problems it represents when I go to deploy on application servers that may have different conflicting versions of my library. I'm dependent on around 30 jars right now and am mid-way though bnding them up. Now some of my modules are easy to declare the versioned dependencies of, such as my networking components. They statically reference classes within the JRE and other BNDded libraries but my JDBC related components instantiate via Class.forName(...) and can use one of any number of drivers. I am breaking everything up into OSGi bundles by service area. My core classes/interfaces. Reporting related components. Database access related components (via JDBC). etc.... I wish for my code to be able to still be used without OSGi via single jar file with all my dependencies and without OSGi at all (via JARJAR) and also to be modular via the OSGi meta-data and granular bundles with dependency information. How do I configure my bundle and my code so that it can dynamically utilize any driver on the classpath and/or within the OSGi container environment (Felix/Equinox/etc.)? Is there a run-time method to detect if I am running in an OSGi container that is compatible across containers (Felix/Equinox/etc.) ? Do I need to use a different class loading mechanism if I am in a OSGi container? Am I required to import OSGi classes into my project to be able to load an at-bundle-time-unknown JDBC driver via my database module? I also have a second method of obtaining a driver (via JNDI, which is only really applicable when running in an app server), do I need to change my JNDI access code for OSGi-aware app servers?

  • jquery-sortable using behavior of a linkedlist

    I suspect I'm not looking at this issue in the right way so here goes. I have essentially a LinkedList of data on a web page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linked_list) that I'd like to manipulate using traditional Linked List behavior (i.e. just updating the reference/id of the "next" object) for performance reasons. Where this gets a bit tricky is I'd ideally like to use Jquery's sortable to do this. Like the user would drag something up/down and I could just do an Ajax call to the server with the id of the object that moved and the new parent id of that object (and then behind the scenes I could figure out how to reconnect things..maybe need more data than that...). But every example I've seen where sortable is used they were sending the whole re-indexed list to the database to update which seems unnecessary to me. With a linked list to change an element's "index" I only need to make 3 updates which depending on the size of the list could be a big performance savings. Anyone have an example of what I'm trying to do...am I too far in left field?

    I'm developing a script using the ruby Treetop library and having issues working with its syntax for regex's. First off, many regular expressions that work in other settings dont work the same in treetop. This is my grammar: (myline.treetop) grammar MyLine rule line string whitespace condition end rule string [\S]* end rule whitespace [\s]* end rule condition "new" / "old" / "used" end end This is my usage: (usage.rb) require 'rubygems' require 'treetop' require 'polyglot' require 'myline' parser = MyLineParser.new p parser.parse("randomstring new") This should find the word new for sure and it does! Now I wont to extend it so that it can find new if the input string becomes "randomstring anotherstring new yetanother andanother" and possibly have any number of strings followed by whitespace (tab included) before and after the regex for rule condition. In other words, if I pass it any sentence with the word "new" etc in it, it should be able to match it. So let's say I change my grammar to: rule line string whitespace condition whitespace string end Then, it should be able to find a match for: p parser.parse("randomstring new anotherstring") So, what do I have to do to allow the string whitespace to be repeated before and after condition? If I try to write this: rule line (string whitespace)* condition (whitespace string)* end , it goes in an infinite loop. If i replace the above () with [], it returns nil In general, regex's return a match when i use the above, but treetop regex's dont. Does anyone have any tips/points on how to go about this? Plus, since there isn't much documentation for treetop and the examples are either too trivial or too complex, is there anyone who knows a more thorough documentation/guide for treetop?

    I'm using the qTip jQuery plugin to create tooltips for a set of links. Two problems: How do I create a set of tooltips for three dynamically generated links where the content of the tooltip will also be dynamic: a href="books.cfm?bookID=11"Book One a href="books.cfm?bookID=22"Book Two a href="books.cfm?bookID=33"Book Three I would like to create a tooltip for each link. Each tooltip will then load details about each book. Thus I must pass the bookID to the tooltip: $('#catalog a[href]').each(function() { $(this).qtip( { content: { URL: 'cfcs/viewbooks.cfc?method=bookDetails', data: { bookID: <cfoutput>#indexView.bookID#</cfoutput> }, method: 'get' } }); }); Unfortunately the above code is not working correctly. I've gotten it to work when I've used a static 'bookID' instead of a dynamically generated number. Even when it does work (by using a static number for 'bookID', I can't format the data correctly. It comes back as a query result, or a bunch of text strings. Should I send back the results as HTML? Unsure. PS: I am an absolute NOVICE to Javascript and jQuery, so please try not to be as technical. Many thanks!

  • LINQDataSource and private columns

    Hey, I was trying to use a ListView bound to a LinqDataSource to insert to a table where I had a few columns private to the table class (Specifically password columns - only access I want to give outside the class is methods that generate the salt and encrypt the password to store it in 1 go). I gave this a few shots, but I didn't come up with anything I really liked... was wondering if anyone has a better way to do this. The methods I've found: Use the LinqDataSource inserting event and make the appropriate calls on e.NewObject. I don't really like this because it's so far removed from the actual input and there's no simple way to hold the password in the meantime other than a class variable set during the ListView's inserting event (Which works, but seems a little dodgy). Open up these properties and just ask everyone to use the appropriate static methods for encoding the passwords they pass in. I don't really like this cause I'd prefer that class to enforce data integrity rather than relying on all calling code doing it properly... I'm currently going with option #1, but I don't really like passing values between events using class variables like that (It just seems unstructured... even though I can guarantee the events will happen in the right order). Does anyone know a better way, or alternatively am I being too pedantic and one of the methods above is actually the right way to go? Thanks

    Totally confused here. I have a PARENT UIViewController that needs to pass an NSMutableArray to a CHILD UIViewController. I'm expecting it to be passed by reference so that changes made in the CHILD will be reflected in the PARENT and vice-versa. But that is not the case. Both have a property declared as .. @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *photos; Example: In PARENT: self.photos = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; ChildViewController *c = [[ChildViewController alloc] init ...]; c.photos = self.photos; ... ... ... In CHILD: [self.photos addObject:obj1]; [self.photos addObject:obj2]; NSLog(@"Count:%d", [self.photos count]) // Equals 2 as expected ... Back in PARENT: NSLog(@"Count:%d", [self.photos count]) // Equals 0 ... NOT EXPECTED I thought they'd both be accessing the same memory. Is this not the case? If it isn't ... how do I keep the two NSMutableArrays in sync?

Okay so I got this : partial void OnCreated() { this.Id = Guid.NewGuid(); this.DateCreated = this.DateModified = DateTime.Now; this.Username = username; this.Password = password; this.Email = email; this.Birthday = birthday; this.Gender = gender; } However, this gives me two errors: Partial Methods must be declared private. Partial Methods must have empty method bodies. Alright I change it to Private Sub OnCreated() to remove both of those errors. However I am still stuck with...how can I pass it values as I would with a normal custom constructor? Also I am doing this in VB (converted it since I know most know/prefer C#), so would that have an affect on this?

    I am trying to write an IzPack installer which is able to detect a previously installed version of the application. After finding out that it doesn't really support this feature, I think the only way to do this is through writing a Java class and calling it from IzPack. Tim Williscroft has previously suggested this method: <condition type="java" id="jbossEnv"> <java> <class>au.com.codarra.ela.installer.JBossChecker</class <field>hasJBossEnv</field> </java> <returnvalue type="boolean">true</returnvalue> </condition> However, is it possible to call <java> from somewhere other than a <condition> tag? I want to be able to call it from a <variable> tag. Also, is it possible to call a method from a Java class instead of reading a value of a field? I want to be able to pass parameters to my class.   • Using authsmtp from a Grails server

    This is quite a specific question, and I have had no luck on the grails nabble forum, so I thought I would post here. I am using the grails mail plug-in, but I think my question is a general one about using authsmtp as an email gateway from my server. I am having trouble sending mail from my app using authsmtp. I have installed and configured the mail plugin and was originally using my ISP's SMTP server to send mails. However when I deployed to AWS EC2 this failed because my elastic IP was blocked by the SMTP host. So I bought myself an authsmtp account and set up my server email address as an accepted one at authsmtp. I then changed my configuration in SecurityConfig.groovy to point to the authsmtp server that I had been designated... mailHost = "mail.authsmtp.com" mailUsername = "myusername" mailPassword = "mypassword" mailProtocol = "smtp" mailFrom = "[email protected]" mailPort = 2525 ...and I'm just trying to get this to work locally before I deploy back up to AWS. Sending mail fails and in my log I have this exception: 2010-02-13 10:59:44,218 [http-8080-1] ERROR service.EmailerService - Failed to send emails: Failed messages: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 513 5.0.0 Your email system must authenticate before sending mail. org.springframework.mail.MailSendException; nested exception details (1) are: Failed message 1: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 513 5.0.0 Your email system must authenticate before sending mail. at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.issueSendCommand(SMTPTransport.java:1388) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.mailFrom(SMTPTransport.java:959) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.sendMessage(SMTPTransport.java:583) I'm a bit lost since the username and password I provide in the configuration are definitely correct. A terse and not very helpful conversation with authsmtp support suggests that I need to MD5 and/or base64 encode my credentials before sending, so my question is in three parts... 1) any idea what's going on with the failure and why that message is appearing? 2) how would I encode the credentials to pass to authsmtp and how would I configure that for the mail plugin 3) has anyone successfully connected and sent mail through authsmtp from the mail plugin and specifically from AWS EC2?

  • Having vCam on custom classes instead of the root class.

    Maybe some of you guys know bout vCam from http://bryanheisey.com/blog/?page_id=22 I'm trying to have the script running on a custom classes instead of a MovieClip in the library. But after some trying I fail so I stick back to having the MC in the library and load the MC from the project root action-script files. Now it works fine if I run the MC on the root as files, but for more organizing purposes on my action-script files, I was thinking of calling it from a custom classes(where I can control the vCam), then call the custom classes from the root action-script files. But seems like it won't work other than the root action-script files. I'm not sure whether I'm missing any codes between the two custom classes, or its not coded to run that way. If it's not, then its fine too just that I want the things more organize. Or if you have any idea how to 'by-pass' this, please do tell me so.   • WIKI replacement solution for SharePoint?

    I'm trying to research a replacement for the pathetic WIKI that comes with WSS (only wiki code it has is to create url links). I have looked at a few but most 'replacements' I see are MOSS only? (or so it just states MOSS for requirements). Has anyone faced this situation? What did you end up using? I would like something that I can have all in one location (not different apps, hence WSS). With LDAP / AD Integration like WSS. Thanks appreciate any input. I would like to see ~ $3k solutions tho (nothing super expensive, hence why we don't run MOSS). EDIT: Anyone else have any suggestions? EDIT2: Actually since I haven't had much feedback (thanks to those that have). I installed mediawiki under IIS with PHP enabled, and enabled the IIS AD hack for authentication. IIS ends up prompting for authentication (user/pass) if you use a non IE browser, then it sets the $_SERVER["REMOTE_USER"] variable, and grabs some AD info (groups etc). Works rather well, only issues is the UGLY urls so far. But its fully working. Seems like a good setup. Other than having to rely on MYSQL (my company strives to be mainly SQL Server)
