    I have an excel spreadsheet that is password-protected. I need to open this spreadsheet and read the data from it. I've been attempting to use the POI API to no avail. A Java solution would be preferred but any ideas would be helpful. Edit: Yes, I have the password. Edit2: I am unable to open it with POI with the password, I am looking for an alternate solution.

  • Parsing a CSV File to a Rails Database

    G'day guys, I'm using fasterCSV and a rake script to parse a csv with about 30 columns into my rails db for a 'Trade' item. The script works fine when all of the values are set to strings, but when I change it to a decimal, int or other value, everything goes to hell. Wondering if fasterCSV has built in int etc parsing or whether I'll have to manage these within my model. Basically, I'm given a giant amount of trades data, need to import it, and then need to provide feedback with say the average trade volume, the times, etc. I understand I can do that all with the wonderful records provided to me by activeRecord but wondered if there was an easier way to populate a rather large Database with a given CSV? Several of the fields don't have values for certain rows, fasterCSV seems to work perfectly when they're all strings, but not when I try to get decimal or other.

Manage files means it will be able to move files from source to destination servers. The client gave us 4 page document detailing what sort of software they are looking for. They dont want to use existing commercial softwares. They want to build their own customizable software. Has anybody worked on this type of project? Please provide your inputs on how should i approach this project. The software should be platform independent and should be built in java.

In Both cases I have to rewrite to group.php and I need only groupid. How to write rewrite rule to work in both situation?

  • How to listen for file system changes MAC - kFSEventStreamCreateFlagWatchRoot

    Hi All, I am listening for Directory and disk changes in a COCOA project using FSEvents. I need to get events when a root folder is renamed or deleted. So, I passed kFSEventStreamCreateFlagWatchRoot while creating the FSEventStream.But even if I delete or rename the root folder I am not getting corresponding FSEventStreamEventFlags. Any idea what could possibly be the issue. I am listening for changes in a USB mounted device. I used both FSEventStreamCreate and FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice. One thing I notices is when I try with FSEventStreamCreate I get the following error message while creating FSEventStream: (CarbonCore.framework) FSEventStreamCreate: watch_all_parents: error trying to add kqueue for fd 7 (/Volumes/NO NAME; Operation not supported) But with FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice there are no errors but still not getting kFSEventStreamEventFlagRootChanged in event flags. Also, while creation using FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice apple say's if I want to listen to root path changes pass emty string "". But I am not able to listen to root path changes by passing empty string. But when I pass "/" it works. But even for "/" I do not get any proper FSEventStreamEventFlags.     I need to search through a list of folders that could have more folders inside it, and add a new folder depending what folder is its parent.(the path is stored as a String for eg = "root/MyCom/home/") Then i fill in a field with a new folder name and add it to the final folder(eg "home/"). Below as you can see , I can navigate to the right location and add the new folder to a current folder, My trouble is that i cannot ensure that currentFolder element is placed back in the list it came from how could i add a folder to a list of folders, that could be within a list of folders,that could be within a list of folders and endless more?     Hi, I'm trying to use vssadd task to add a tree of source files to a recent created project on VSS. But it happens to be adding only the folder tree, all files missing. <vsscp vsspath="$/DEV/APL_${version}" ssdir="${vssapl}" serverPath="${vsssvr}"/> The vssadd task displays the name of the folders it's creating: ... (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/domain: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/mbeans: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/service: ... The script runs successfully but the files never get in the repository. Trying to use wilcards are no good, the task says it found no matching files and ss returns with a code of 100: <vssadd ssdir="${vssapl}" localPath="C:\Workspace\APL_Build*.*" recursive="true" serverPath="${vsssvr}" comment="Build ${versao} at ${to.timestamp}"/ I've noticed that vssadd does not accept fileset tag either, so I'm kind of lost here.   • Eclipse: view a document using custom spacing, save using the file's spacing

    I have a silly use case for eclipse: At work, they use 2 spaces for a tab character. Indentation looks really squashed and I'm finding it obstructs readability. Now, I can't set Eclipse to use 4 spaces for a tab as it'll edit any files I change, and obviously don't want to violate the coding standards. So, can I have a custom view onto my document, with saving maintaining the original spacing? Cheers

    I use Linq to Sql Compact with code generated by sqlmetal. When I open an invalid database, like eg an mp3, I can create the DataContext without getting an Exception. But when I query any data or call DatabaseExists, the application hangs. Why is no exception thrown? Is this a known problem?

    Hi, I'm trying to do the following with ghostscript: Turn one multipage PDF file (about 3,000 pages, 200mb file) into: One file per page of the PDF, and convert each (page/file) to EPS or PS (post script(preferably)). Example: hello.pdf (10 pages) would produce: hello1.ps (page 1 out of 10) hello2.ps hello3.ps ... hello10.ps How can I do this? I've been trying for 4 days, and can't figure it out. I have a script I've tried(won't work): Note: Windows(7) user here. gs -sDEVICE=epswrite -o documentname-%.eps documentname.pdf I also don't know how to navigate to the directory where my file resides (cannot figure that out, too).     I am very familiar with writing VB based applications but am new to Xcode (and Objective C). I have gone through numerous tutorials on the web and understand the basics and how to interact with Interface Builder etc. However, I am really struggling with some basic concepts of the C language and would be grateful for any help you can offer. Heres my problem… I have a simple iphone app which has a view controller (FirstViewController) and a subview (SecondViewController) with associated header and class files. In the FirstViewController.m have a function defined @implementation FirstViewController (void) writeToServer:(const uint8_t ) buf { [oStream write:buf maxLength:strlen((char)buf)]; } It doesn't really matter what the function is. I want to use this function in my SecondViewController, so in SecondViewController.m I import FirstViewController.h import "SecondViewController.h" import "FirstViewController.h" @implementation SecondViewController -(IBAction) SetButton: (id) sender { NSString *s = [@"Fill:" stringByAppendingString: FillLevelValue.text]; NSString *strToSend = [s stringByAppendingString: @":"]; const uint8_t *str = (uint8_t *) [strToSend cStringUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; FillLevelValue.text = strToSend; [FirstViewController writeToServer:str]; } This last line is where my problem is. XCode tells me that FirstViewController may not respond to writeToServer. And when I try to run the application it crashes when this function is called. I guess I don't fully understand how to share functions and more importantly, the relationship between classes. In an ideal world I would create a global class to place my functions in and call them as required. Any advice gratefully received.
