  • Custom Ubuntu 12.04 distro not booting

    After following the instructions at: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomizationFromScratch; I installed xorg, gdm, and gnome. For some reason when I try to run it on both of my computers and qemu, it freezes up. Sadly I cant access a console to view all my logs, but I do have a dump of the boot process.     How do I simulate water droplets realistically falling, gathering, and flowing down a window? For example, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jaGyv0KRPw. In particular, I want to simulate how smaller droplets merge together to form larger droplets that have enough weight to oppose the surface tension and flow downward, leaving a trail of water. I'm aware of fluid simulation, but how would it be applied in this situation?

  • Lenovo Ideapad p500 having Windows 8 booting issues. Boot repair pastebin included!

    I recently installed Ubuntu 13.10, and thought I properly set things up to dual boot into Windows 8, but I continually get .efi errors when I attempt to boot into Windows 8. I installed Boot-Repair and used that to run the recommended fixes. It provided additional boot options within the GRUB2, but none (other than Ubuntu) are working.     I just got a new laptop, HP dm4, and I'm having problems getting the audio to work properly on it. http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=7b697a35465a9f7236fb94deb9ff97fa65e55489 I tried to edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and added: option snd-hda-intel model=ref this caused the audio to work, but it's muffled.
