  • How do I extend a WPF application using an addin-like architeture?

    Lets say I have a WPF application that shows a ListBox with an ArrayList -populated with objects of arbitrary types- as a source, and this application is hosted in an assembly 'A'. By default the ListBox will display the custom object 'ToString' method return value. If a data template for that object type is found, the ListBox will use it for rendering. Imagine that theres another assembly 'B' that references of 'A' and seeks to extend it by providing custom data templates for certain types, to be used in that ListBox. Is there some way to do that without 'A'being aware of B?

  • Why is my web page left-aligned on iPad?

    I recently built a site and centered it using margin: 0 auto. I also wrapped elements in a .wrapper class with a width set to 960px and then had the parent element extend across the whole browser. When I view the Brands screen on an iPad though, the site is left-aligned and does not extend across the whole window. Any thoughts to why this might be happening, and how to correct it?   • Converting RGB values to CMYK

    Hi all, I have RGB values that I need to convert into CMYK values. I'm using the iPhone SDK to try and do this. I have tried a couple of things, but cannot either get the values to be anything other than 0 or 1, or the K element is completely wrong (showing up as a negative number).     I dont think this is possible but maybe someone knows a way to achieve this. I want to attach an event to an html element to listen to attribute change. So say for instance that I want something to happen when a visibility of a div changes. The reason is that I have no control over the javascript that is switching the visibility, hence the need for an event. Thanks

  • jquery trouble with getJSON call.

    Hi guys. Got some basic problem again. I need to modify a function that previously returned a in code written object. Im now trying to get the object from json through $.getJSON function getEventData() { var result = ''; $.getJSON("ajax.php?cmd=getbydate&fromdate=&todate=", function(data){ result = data; }); return result; } Problem is that result isn't set in the callback function for obvious reasons. Do you guys have a solution for this?

  • When we run an aspx page with client side scripting on IIS, we get an ActiveX control error?

    we have implemented the code for installing the messenger theme pack using the client side scripting in a web page. We are creating an object of the messenger using the classid .Using this object we call the installcontent() method and try to install the messenger theme pack hosted at following path: http://www.messengerexpressions.com/assets/worldCup/cabs/en-gb.cab Our code initially checks whether the messenger is installed on the user machine or not. Then it checks for the user login ,once the messenger is installed on the machine. And if the user is signed-in , the messenger theme pack is installed. The code currently when hosted on IIS checks the “Sign-In of the user” but when it tries to install the theme pack an error is thrown “An ActiveX control on this page is unsafe.Your current security settings prohibit running unsafe control on this page.As a result,this page may not be display as intended.” Please let us know if any setting is required on IIS for running this piece of codeor anything that we are missing out.

    I have created code in WPF to let the window remember its last location like this: private void Window_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { try { Rect storedLoc = Properties.Settings.Default.WindowSavedLocation; this.Top = storedLoc.Top; this.Left = storedLoc.Left; } catch { MessageBox.Show("No settings stored !"); } } private void Window_Closed(object sender, EventArgs e) { Properties.Settings.Default.WindowSavedLocation = RestoreBounds; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); } When I build the application I can see that the app.exe.config file has the setting WindowSavedLocation but it just does not save and throws no exception. Everytime I run the application, it says "No settings stored !". It's scope is user.

I am a bit unclear about this and dun know why this is happening? What should i do to correct it?

    I have a special content-type that I have created, and one of the fields is a radio button list. The last element is named 'Other' and I would like to have a textbox appear and allow the user to enter in a non-defined value. Is this sort of capability provided by any sort of module, or is this something that needs to be coded by hand? (If so, would you mind pointing me in the correct direction?)

The div.miniTabs and div.switchers are the divs that includes the tabs links (tabs headers) and I putted them in the snippet to change the default selected tab class from .selected to .active and .activePanel Now, what I would love to add is a nice fadeIn and fadeOut effects to the content of my tabs while browsing through them.     I am adding rows dynamically on code behind depending on the Row currently bounded on RowDataBound event. I want that added row to be the same state (Alternate or Normal) of the currently bounded row is this possible? I'm doing something like this but it doesn't follow what I want. I'm expecting the added row dynamically would be the same as the current row.     i'm trying to wrap my head around how to enterprise up my code: taking a simple routine and splitting it up into 5 or 6 methods in 3 or 4 classes. i quickly came up three simple examples of code how i currently write it. Could someone please convert these into an MVC/MVP obfuscated version? Example 1: The last name is mandatory. Color the text box red if nothing is entered. Color it green if stuff is entered: private void txtLastname_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Lastname mandatory. //Color pinkish if nothing entered. Without any understanding of they why it's being one some way, it makes no sense. And using the words model, view, controller and presenter, like i'm supposed to know what that means, doesn't help. The model is your data. The view shows data on screen. The controller is used to carry out the users actions And oranges taste orangy. Here's my attempt at splitting things up in order to make the code more difficult to follow. The next step in the MVC obfuscation, i gather, is to hide the code in 3 or 4 different files. It's that next step that i don't understand. What is the logical separation of which functions are moved into what other classes? Can someone translate my 3 simple examples above into full fledged MVC obfuscation? Edit: Not ASP/ASP.NET/Online. Pretend it's on a desktop, handheld, surface, kiosk. And pretend it's language agnostic.

  • DeleteObject method is missing in Entity Framework 4.1

    This is driving me crazy. I am getting error that object doesn't contain definition for DeleteObject. Here is my line of code that produces an error: ctx.Tanks.DeleteObject(Tank); I tried to reference another object from another edmx file that my friend has created and then everything is fine, DeleteObject exists. I don't think I miss any references in my project. And project itself contains edmx file and I used DBContext to create POCOs. Any ideas?

It is working fine for small amout of data. but for large amout of data like 300 mb it is throwing out of memory exception.   • Bad Design? Constructor of composition uses `this`

    Example: class MyClass { Composition m_Composition; void MyClass() { m_Composition = new Composition( this ); } } I am interested in using depenency-injection here. So I will have to refactor the constructor to something like: void MyClass( Composition composition ) { m_Composition = composition; } However I get a problem now, since the Composition-object relies on the object of type MyClass which is just created. Can a dependency container resolve this? Is it supposed to do so? Or is it just bad design from the beginning on?

    I have a c# .net web application. I create session variables but when I try to read them after I leave the page that they were created from I can't. Created on page 1 Session["UserName"] = "WhatEver"; Then I do Response.Redirect("~/whatever.aspx"); and try to read to read the session variable in the Page_Load method of the new page string userName = Session["UserName"].ToString(); I receive "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Why am I receiving this error and what can I do to fix the problem? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Something along the lines of: boost::bind(match1, "a test"); boost::bind(match2, 42); I want to be able to obtain, from two functions like these that take one argument and return bool, a callable object that takes two arguments and returns the && of the bools. The type of the arguments is arbitrary. Something like an operator&& for functions that return bool.

    We are investigating the Entity Framework to see if it will meet our particular needs. Here is the scenario I am interested in: I have a large table (let's call it VeryWideRecord) which has many columns, and it has a corresponding business object (it's also called VeryWideRecord). I would like to be able to query my database for a VeryWideRecord business object, but only have values for certain columns returned by the underlying SQL. Can I do this with the Entity Framework? I am uncertain as to whether this could be done with the Entity Framework's table splitting feature, because the application needs to be able (at runtime) to change the columns that are requested. The reason for this is that we are trying to minimize the amount of information that is going across the wire. I see how this could be done using NHibernate (example), but how can I do this with the Entity Framework?

    Not sure what the correct title for this question should be. I have the following schema: Matters have a one-many relationship to WorkItems. WorkItems have a one-one (or one-zero) relationship to LineItems. I am trying to create the following relation between Matters and WorkItems Matter.unbilled_work_items = orm.relation(WorkItem, primaryjoin = (Matter.id == WorkItem.matter_id) and (WorkItem.line_item_id == None), foreign_keys = [WorkItem.matter_id, WorkItem.line_item_id], viewonly=True ) This throws: AttributeError: '_Null' object has no attribute 'table' That seems to be saying that the second clause in the primaryjoin returns an object of type _Null, but it seems to be expecting something with a "table" attribute. This seems like it should be pretty straightforward to me, am I missing something obvious?
