• Variadic functions and arguments assignment in C/C++

  I was wondering if in C/C++ language it is possible to pass arguments to function in key-value form. For example in python you can do: def some_function(arg0 = "default_value", arg1): # (...) value1 = "passed_value" some_function(arg1 = value1) So the alternative code in C could look like this: void some_function(char *arg0 = "default_value", char *arg1) { ; } int main() { char *value1 = "passed_value"; some_function(arg1 = value1); return(0); } So the arguments to use in some_function would be: arg0 = "default_value" arg1 = "passed_value" Any ideas?

• How to move an element in a sorted list and keep the CouchDb write "atomic"

  I have elements of a list in couchdb documents. Let's say these are 3 elements in 3 documents: { "id" : "783587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "joey", "sort" : 100.0 } { "id" : "358734ff6", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jill", "sort" : 110.0 } { "id" : "abf587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jack", "sort" : 120.0 } A view retrieves all "aList" documents and displays them sorted by "sort". Now I want to move the elements, when I want to move "jack" to the middle, I could do this atomic in one write and change it's sort key to 105.0. The view now returns the documents in the new sort order. After a lot of sorting I could end up with sort keys like 50.99999 and 50.99998 after some years and in extreme situations run out of digits? What can you recommend, is there a better way to do this? I'd rather keep the elements in seperate documents. Different users might edit different elements in parallel (which also can get tricky). Maybe there is a much better way?

  I have a set of values that I'm pushing into an array in the order they occur $valsArray = array(); //I process each value from a file (code removed for simplicity) //and then add into the array $valsArray[] = $val; How do I turn this into an associative array instead where the value gets inserted (as $key of associative array) only if it doesn't exist. If it does exist increment its count ($value of associative array) by 1. I'm trying to find a more efficient way of handling those values compared to what I'm doing now.

• Removing $_SESSION['layout']['action'] globally from all users!

  Ok, I am storing a session variable like so to load up users layouts faster if it's set instead of calling the database. But since the layout can be changed via the Administrator, I'd like to be able to globally remove all sessions where $_SESSION['layout']['action'] is set for all users. $_SESSION['layout']['action'] = array(a ton of indexes and mulit-dimensional arrays); Now, I know it's being stored into my database sessions table, there's a column for session_id, last_update, and data. So, question I have is how to remove that session array key ['action'] from all users. Using $_SESSION = array(); session_destroy(); Does not work. Basically, session_start() is being loaded on every page load, so I just want to remove all ['action'] keys from ['layout']. Is this possible to do? Thanks

• Duplicate all rows in sql database table

  I have a table which contains house details called property. I am creating a localised application, and I have a db table called propertylocalised. In this table is held duplicates of the data and culture column e.g. key culture propertyname 1 en helloproperty 1 fr bonjourproperty At the moment I have all my en culture inserted but I want to duplicate all of those rows and then for every other row insert fr into culture. I obviously only want to do this once, for the purpose of setting up the localisation. Thanks Andy

• How to control order of assignment for new identity column in SQL Server?

  I have a table with CreateDate datetime field default(getdate()) that does not have any identity column. I would like to add identity(1,1) field that would reflect same order of existing records as CreateDate field (order by would give same results). How can I do that ? I guess if I create clustered key on CreateDate field and then add identity column it will work (not sure if it's guaranteed), is there a good/better way ? I am interested in SQL Server 2005, but I guess the answer will be the same for SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2000.

• Why is the EntityManager in my GAE + Spring (+graniteds) project reset to null?

  Hi all, I'm having a problem with autowiring my EntityManager. I would have thought that AssemblyName.ReferenceMatchesDefinition should consider differences in the version, culture, and public key token attributes of an assembly name, shouldn't they? If not, what does ReferenceMatchesDefinition do that a comparison of the simple names doesn't?

• How do i make my google web app searchable on google?

For example, my app is at http://ajakimov.appspot.com/ and on it there is only some random text like 'form bell road smear sky orange fan glass key'. When i google for 'form bell road smear' for example or the title of the site for that matter , i get no results - cant find the site. Does anyone know how to make a appengine site google-able? He has been working in the telecom industry for about 25 years and has also worked as a software developer, project manager, and solutions architect. He is currently working on courseware for an upcoming release for one of the Service Delivery Platform products. Cheryl Lander, Oracle Communications InfoDev Senior Director To be able to download, install and test a product within a day is many times very important for people that are doing the primary evaluation of a software product. If it takes longer, it will require a bigger effort, like a proof-of-concept project with many people involved. Of course, if the product is chosen for a more thorough test, it will probably happen anyway, but then maybe with focus on integration instead of product features. We have a long tradition of creating complex software that is easy to install and test and we have often been praised for the ease of getting our products up and running. One key for this has been that there has always been an installer for Windows, as well as for the production environments that usually are Unix and Linux. And, the windows installer has, in most cases, been released for developing and testing purposes. Lately, this has changed. Our products are very seldom released for the Windows platform, at all. And even the Linux versions are almost always released for 64-bit systems. This is creating problems for many of the people that want to try out our products, since few have access to a 64-bit Linux system of the right platform. Most of us are using a laptop with Windows or Mac OS. Some of us are using Linux or Solaris, but probably a non certified distribution for the product you want to test. My job, among other things, is to develop hands-on practices for our products. For me, it is crucial to have access to environments for installing and using our products. For this reason I have been using virtual machines for many years.I have a ready-made base system, with the necessary tools installed for all the products I create hands-on practices for. Whenever I start working on hands-on practices for a new product or a new version, I just copy the base system and start working with a clean slate. This saves me a lot of time! Now, I would like to start saving time for my favorite student: You! If you are using our products and regularly test new versions you might benefit from the virtual machine that is now available on Oracle Technology Network: The Virtual Machine for the Oracle Communications Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Products. This virtual machine contains an installation of the 64-bit version of Oracle Enterprise Linux, version 6. It also has Oracle Database Express Edition (XE), Oracle Java and Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse installed. By using Oracle VM VirtualBox you may use Windows, OS X, Linux or Solaris on your laptop. VirtualBox can be installed on top of any of these platforms and give you the ability to run virtual machines in your laptop. After downloading and starting the virtual machine you will also need to download the installation files for the product you want to test; for example Oracle Communications Services Gatekeeper or Oracle Communications Online Mediation Controller. In some cases there are lessons and practices available for the products. The freely available courses are listed in Oracle Learning Library as a Collection of Oracle Communications Service Delivery Platform Courses. As time goes by, we will make this list collection bigger. Also, the goal is to update the virtual machine about one to two times per year. • C# WPF: Combobox isn't jumping down the list as I type when I use a multiconvert on it.

  Basically, I have a combobox that is built by doing multibinding (multiconverter) for the memberdisplaypath. The problem is if the combobox is selected and I start typing, it doesn't jump down the list. Doesn't it go by what's displayed in the combobox for typing? That is, if the combobox is setup like so: //value/display (please disregard how weird the numbering is...) //ref - the value is built upon an observablecollection of a class. ref / "" ref / "10 - Very much agree." ref / "15 - Somewhat agree." ref / "19 - No weight." ref / "23 - Somwhat disagree." ref / "33 - Very much disagree." If the user presses the "1" key it should jump to "10 - Very much agree." But, instead it just sits there...

• DB2 load partitioned data in parallel

  I have a 10-node DB2 9.5 database, with raw data on each machine (ie node1:/scratch/data/dataset.1 node2:/scratch/data/dataset.2 ... node10:/scratch/data/dataset.10 There is no shared NFS mount - none of my machines could handle all of the datasets combined. each line of a dataset file is a long string of text, column delimited. The first column is the key. I don't know the hash function that DB2 will use, so dataset is not pre-partitioned. Short of renaming all of my files, is there any way to get DB2 to load them all in parallel? I'm trying to do something like load from '/scratch/data/dataset' of del modified by coldel| fastparse messages /dev/null replace into TESTDB.data_table part_file_location '/scratch/data'; but I have no idea how to suggest to db2 that it should look for dataset.1 on the first node, etc.

• Modify Emdeded String in C# compiled exe

  I have an issue where I need to be able to have a compiled exe ( .net 3.5 c# ) that I will make copies of to distribute that will need to change a key for example before the exe is sent out. I cannot compile each time a new exe is needed. This is a thin client that will be used as part of a registration process. Is it possible to add a entry to a resource file with a blank value then when a request comes in have another application grab the blank default thin client, copy it, populate the blank value with the data needed. If yes how? If no do you have any ideas? I have been scratching my head for a few days now and the limitation as due to the boundaries I am required to work in. The other idea I has was to inject the value into a method, which I have no idea how I would even attempt that. Thanks.

Is there any way we can find any if A or B or C using 2 differences Diff1 and Diff2? I know XOR is not reversible unless you know the key, but keeping in view that unsigned __int8 is 0...255 maximum 256 different values. stay well.

• Adding an NSTextField as a subview

  I'm trying to add an NSTextField as a subview of a custom view class I have (which subclasses NSView), and then make the text field the first responder. This works fine... the text field shows up and I can start typing in it. However, any mouse events in the text field seem to fall through to its superview. For example, I can't see the mouse cursor when I hover over the text field, and when I click anywhere in the text field, it attempts to resign firstResponder status instead of letting me select text within the text field. I'm not overridding hitTest or anything weird like that, and I only have one window, which is definitely the key window. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :-)

  I followed the steps on this tutorial video by at subsonic website. Everything seems to be self explanatory but when I copy the .tt files into my Visual Studio nothing happens. I have read other question relating to this problem on this website but they don't seem to fix this problem. I also went into the regedit to find out the generator key for .tt files and it is properly set. This is not a visual studio express or anything but a professional edition also I am trying to build a ASP.net web application and not a MVC application like the demo. • Handling newline character in input between Windows and Linux

  I think this is a standard problem which may have been asked before but I could not get the exact answer so posting the issue. The issue is that our server is running on a linux box. We access the server over the browser on a window box to enter data into field which is supposed to contain multiple lines which user can enter by pressing the enter key after each line Abc Def GHI When this input field (this is a text area),is read on the linux machine, we want to split the data based on new line character. I had three question on this. Does the incoming data contain "\r\n" or "\n" If incoming data does contain "\r\n", the linux line.separator property (vm property) would not work for me as it would say "\n" and therefore may leave "\r" in the data. If "\r" is left in the data, if I open the file on a windows machine, will this mean a newline character? Finally can anyone tell me the standard way to deal with this issue?

• Multiple webservices in 1 ear/ejb project

  We have a ejb project (which is in an ear) that shares quite a bit of code between 2 webservices. The classes that the webservices expose are in different packages but they have different names. For example Web service1 com.d.trunk.Response WS1.process( com.d.trunk.Input ); Web service2 com.d.fwd.Response WS2.process( com.d.fwd.Input ); So this builds fine, but when we deploy and we view the generated wsdl and the generated xsd things begin to go a bit haywire. So if we look at web service 2 it generates the wsdl and xsd as we expect. But when we look at ws 1's wsdl for some reason it includes the xsd from the ws 2 and its own xsd. And its own xsd are missing key types like the Response type. Is this an issue because we have 2 web services in 1 ejb project? Or some config issue with Netbeans 6.7.1 and glassfish v2?

We can place this id to routing key or message header or some other property.
