• DROP TABLE fails for temp table

  I have a client application that creates a temp table, the performs a bulk insert into the temp table, then executes some SQL using the table before deleting it. Pseudo-code: open connection begin transaction CREATE TABLE #Temp ([Id] AS int) bulk insert 500 rows into #Temp UPDATE [OtherTable] SET [Status]=0 WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM #Temp) AND [Group]=1 DELETE FROM #Temp WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM [OtherTable] WHERE [Group]=1) INSERT INTO [OtherTable] ([Group], [Id]) SELECT 1 as [Group], [DocIden] FROM #Temp DROP TABLE #Temp COMMIT TRANSACTION CLOSE CONNECTION This is failing with an error on the DROP statement: Cannot drop the table '#Temp', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. I can't imagine how this failure could occur without something else going on first, but I don't see any other failures occurring before this. Is there anything that I'm missing that could be causing this to happen?

• SQL Server Table locks in long query - Solution: NoLock?

  a report in my application runs a query that needs between 5 - 15 seconds (constrained to count of rows that will be returned). The query has 8 joins to nearly all main-tables of my application (Customers, sales, units etc). A little tool shows me, that in this time, all those 8 tables are locked with a shared table lock. That means, no update operation will be done in this time. A solution from a friend is, to have every join in the query, which is not mandetory to have 100% correct data (dirty read), with a NoLock, so only 1 of this 8 tables will be locked completly. Is that a good solution? For a report in which 99% of data came from one table, unlock the less prio tables?

• CDOSYS and Unicode in the from field - vbScript.

  I've got the code below, and I'm trying to set the from field to allow unicode. Currently in my email client I get "??". The subject line and any content shows the unicode correctly. And looking at the MSDN the property should be "urn:schemas:httpmail:from". Anyone solved this issue? I have this in my Animal.cs clas private string _animalName; public string AnimalName { get { return _animalName; } set { if(_animalName!= value) { _animalName= value; this.NotifyPropertyChanged("AnimalName"); } } } I could also write: public string AnimalName {get;set;} There is no difference in binding and validation. Everythings works as before when I exchange the code. Is this due to the fact that I only create new animals but I do not allow to update the animals name in my application ? So I need to call the propertyChanged("AnimalName"); only when I want to change its property value? I am a c# beginner ;)

  I am have an asp.net page, where a list of products is shown in a drop down. When a user selects an item, corresponding price, available quantity etc. are shown in the corresponding text boxes. I have used ajax update panel to retrieve these information. This approach seems to work nicely. But sometimes when a product is selected, it takes too long for the price, quantities to change, and sometimes they don't even change. Then I used firebug to see what happened to the ajax request, and I found out that the response that is coming from the server is something like this - 70|error|500|The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted.| I have absolutely no idea what is wrong here.............

  Hi All, I am trying to set up a Approval workflow when item created and item updated event on a list and then update the approval status as workflow complete. Now when I create a new Item the workflow kicks off as expected. When I edit the same item and approve the item new workflow get started as the item get edit. It seems to be workflow falls in loop if I se an Approval workflow on new item created and Item Edit events. I Google for it and I found that Microsoft has come up with hotfix to overcome this issue. I have installed it on my machine but still the problem persist. Is there are any prerequisites needed for this ? or any other service pack or specific version of service pack needs be installed on machine to make this hotfix running.   hi all: I was in http://finance.yahoo.com/ and checked the europe tab ( markets are open here atm) you ll see trades updating live, I went to firebug to the Net tab and there was no updates... so I wonder how are they doing that? I can see there is a streamerapi.finance.yahoo.com that actually makes fiddler throw an error. Anyone knows anything else about this live update? Really interested in this, would really like to know if they are constantly polling , the updates seem to happen at irregular intervals found some info here Please note my interest is on the seeminly push aspect of it ( ie view is updated when there is new information) Cheers

  As EF 4.0 released, more support to SQL server Stored procedure. Complex Type can be generated automatically for result dataset of SP. But complex type not support by Ria Service. When I try to use ria service combined with EF 4.0, I want to get dataset by SP. This result is not mapped to any entity/table. Some sulutions suggested by community are: 1. Create view to map sp result. (but for EF, if there is no ID or primary, can't be map to any entity) 2. Create Entity to map sp result.(for this, you even need to map SP for CRUD even though I don't need CUD on this sp result) Also above solution can't be automated. As Database objects maybe changed with the time, auto update edm will lost above solution. So what's the solution? I want to put data operation back to DB as possible, so that many changes can be done in DB and no need to rebuild .net assemblies(this cause redeploy).

Once running the application will receive a datastream that I hope to update the file and datagrid. So Im curious what you would suggest on how I setup the workflow (ie, split the data from the data stream and simultaneously populate the file and grid or would you suggest populating the XML file first and setting up a timer to have the grid read the file?)   As a means of simple security, I was previously checking the digital signature of a downloaded update package for my program against its public key to ensure that it originated from me. However, as I'm using cheap code signing certs (Tucows), I am unable to renew an existing cert and therefore the keys change every time I need to renew. Therefore, a more reliable means would be to verify the organization information embedded in the signed assembly (which is displayed in the UAC dialog) against my well-known organization string, as this will continue to be the same. Does anyone know how to obtain this information from a digitally-signed assembly?

I've got declarative authorization working for just about everything that doesn't involve using conditionals. E.g. has_permission_on :users, :to => [:edit, :update, :destroy] do if_attribute :user => is { current_user } end Are there any common pitfalls with Declarative Authorization? I'm using authlogic and I'm suspicious the 'current_user' method in the application controller might be the source of the problem.

  Hello, i have the following mysql table: myTable: id int auto_increment voucher int not null id_user int null I've populated voucher field with values from 1 to 100000 so i've got 100000 records; when a user clicks a button in a PHP page, i need to allocate a record for the user so i make something similar like: update myTable set id_user=XXX where voucher=(SELECT * FROM (SELECT MIN(voucher) FROM myTable WHERE id_user is null) v); The problem is that I don't use locks and i should use them because if two users click in the same moment i risk to assign the same voucher to different persons (2 updates in the same record so i lose 1 user) ... ON a.col1+b.col2*c.col4 < d.some_threshold WHERE a.col1+b.col2*c.col4 > 0 When the calculations get rather involved and used up to 3-5 times within the same SELECT, I would really like to refactor that out in a function or similar in order to 1) hopefully improve performance / make use of cache 2) avoid forgetting to update one of the 4 calculations when I at a later stage realize I need to change the calculation. I usually have these selects within SPs. Any ideas?

  My idea is to create some generic classes for Insert/Update/Select via a C# (3.5) Winforms app talking with a MySQL database via MySQL .NET Connector 6.2.2. Reading around on SO is starting to give me the indication that this may lead to SQL injection attacks (for any user-input values). Is there anyway of scrubbing the inputted strSQL or do I need to go and create individual parameterized queries in every method that needs to do a database function?

I'm hoping that I can export the ScrewTurn database to xml and then use a utility to put it in a format that Confluence can understand - perhaps the format used by the Universal Wiki Converter. Has anyone used such a utility? Is there anything I should know before I try to write one myself? Update: I've installed the Confluence trial and I took a look at the backup. There's an entities.xml file that looks like the data store. The root tag is <hibernate-generic>, which leads me to believe that they use Hibernate. I'm not familiar with Hibernate, but this should be useful.

  I have an <fb:requestform> in an iFrame Facebook app. I have set target="_parent", so that the callback will target the parent iFrame and not itself, which seems to work as expected. But, instead of my desired file loading, I get redirected to my server. Checking the response of the requestform's POST in Firebug revealed this: <script type="text/javascript"> top.location.href = "http://www.facebook.com/login.php?api_key=***&v=1.0&req_perms=&next=http%3A%2F%2F***"; </script> I have already had this same problem when sending jQuery AJAX requests to update various elements in an iFrame. I solved the problem by making sure my headers contain P3P: CP="CAO PSA OUR". That is indeed set for this call as well (can be seen clearly in Firebug), but I still get redirected to facebook.com/login.php.
