• Customize WPF databinding: How to add custom logic?

  Hi, i have a question regarding some complex data-binding. I want to be able to update a grid (which has the property "IsItemsHost" set to true) dynamically whenever a data-binding occurs. To be more specific, i bind the grid to some items and i want to change the number of grid rows depending on these items, add something like a header (one row containing some text), and set the items' Grid.Row and Grid.Column using some custom logic. What is the easiest way to apply such behaviour whenever the bound data is updated? Do i have to use a viewmodel that also contains the header data? Thanks in advance.

• SQL Server Process Queue Race Condition

  I have an order queue that is accessed by multiple order processors through a stored procedure. Each processor passes in a unique ID which is used to lock the next 20 orders for its own use. The stored procedure then returns these records to the order processor to be acted upon. There are cases where multiple processors are able to retrieve the same 'OrderTable' record at which point they try to simultaneously operate on it. This ultimately results in errors being thrown later in the process. My next course of action is to allow each processor grab all available orders and just round robin the processors but I was hoping to simply make this section of code thread safe and allow the processors to grab records whenever they like. So Explicitly - Any idea why I am experiencing this race condition and how I can solve the problem.   Is there any debugger that allows Python code to be changed while debugging? In other words: run-time exception occurs, debugger stops, I change the code any way I like, and tell the program to continue. I am aware of the problems with this approach, such that references to functions would still point to the old definitions if I redefine the function on the fly, and so on. I am ok with that, since I just want to be able to make small fixes in very simple circumstances. On the other hand, I'm also interested in whether it's theoretically possible to allow changes to Python code without running into these problems: i.e., somehow update all the references to the objects that changed, etc. I'm nearly sure the answer to the second question is no, but if I'm wrong, I'd like to know. EDIT: If my goal (changing the code interactively when an exception occurred, and then continuing execution), is achievable without a debugger - that would be good as well. I don't need to use the debugger.

  I have successfully installed the Clearance Gem from ThoughtBot. Clearance sends a confirmation email upon a new sign_up and suggests adding: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => 'localhost:3000' } to your /environments/test.rb and development.rb. I have tried this and also config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => '127.0.0.1', :port => 3000 } But can't seem to get rails to send the email. As I am new to both Ruby and Rails, I am wondering if there is some step/config that ThoughtBot is assuming I have already done to send emails. What am I doing wrong/missing?   Our web applications are using LDAP Membership Provider to authenticate and register users in Active Directory. In order to allow users to provide usernames that exist in other applications, we need to add a prefix in its username and it should be as transparent and painless as possible. What I need is a way to extend the LDAP Membership Provider to be able to add (concatenate) a prefix to the username just before Membership authenticate or register it. For example, if user input is "JohnS" in application 1... I want to authenticate: "App1_JohnS". How could I extend the membership to accomplish this? Any idea what is triggered just before authenticate and register (create user)? Update: Each web app has an "OU" in AD where create users to and authenticate from. But as it is just ONE Active Directory Controller the usernames must be unique. We need to solve this issue using Membership providers and not adding more ADs.

  I have an <fb:requestform> in an iFrame Facebook app. I have set target="_parent", so that the callback will target the parent iFrame and not itself, which seems to work as expected. But, instead of my desired file loading, I get redirected to my server. Checking the response of the requestform's POST in Firebug revealed this: <script type="text/javascript"> top.location.href = "http://www.facebook.com/login.php?api_key=***&v=1.0&req_perms=&next=http%3A%2F%2F***"; </script> I have already had this same problem when sending jQuery AJAX requests to update various elements in an iFrame. I solved the problem by making sure my headers contain P3P: CP="CAO PSA OUR". That is indeed set for this call as well (can be seen clearly in Firebug), but I still get redirected to facebook.com/login.php.

  Hi guys, I am having a big problem trying to find a logging option for our SOLR integration. Recently I have started using SOLRNET to add documents from the database in batches as previously we were just renewing the entire index every morning. So far this solution is working very well and is exactly what we wanted. However, I am in need of a solution that will log every document being added and can also differentiate between an "add" or an "update". It seems posting to solr handles it in a way where "if the document exists, overwrite it; If not then add" but in the catalina logfile this operations looks identical no matter what the scenario. My question is; Are there any logging solutions out there that can accomplish this, the current default logging options in solr that log to catalina are insufficient. Many thanks for any help.

I know I can detach the database attach in SQL SERVER 2008. Create the tables and then detach. But I don't have SQL SERVER 2008 and I want to see if this can be done using command line tool. • rsync creating thousands of ..ds_store files from mounted volume

  hello there - been using rsync on os x to sync all our website admins. it was working fine until the os x 10.6.3 update! Now it creates thousands of ZeroK folders.   I've recently started on a project to develop some portlets which will run on IBM WebSphere Portal Server 6.1. Does anyone know of any scripts, Ant tasks, Maven plugins, etc. for publishing a portlet to Portal Server? In the WebSphere Portlet Factory plugin for eclipse it is possible to "publish" a portlet project to Portal Server instance, however I'd like to know what's going on underneath the hood here (or at least how to replicate the behaviour) so that I can do it in other places (i.e. from continuous integration server). UPDATE: From what I've read it sounds like the Portlet Factory publishes using a WebSphere JMX client. Does anyone know where I can find more details on this?

• Script or utility to export from ScrewTurn Wiki into Confluence?

  Has anyone tried migrating from ScrewTurn to Confluence? I'm hoping that I can export the ScrewTurn database to xml and then use a utility to put it in a format that Confluence can understand - perhaps the format used by the Universal Wiki Converter. Has anyone used such a utility? Is there anything I should know before I try to write one myself? Update: I've installed the Confluence trial and I took a look at the backup. There's an entities.xml file that looks like the data store. The root tag is <hibernate-generic>, which leads me to believe that they use Hibernate. I'm not familiar with Hibernate, but this should be useful.

  I want to create a continuous build integration system for .NET using just Windows batch files and Visual Source Safe. I've come up with the following batch file so far - set ssdir=\\xxxx\vss cd d:\mydir "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual SourceSafe\ss.exe" diff "$/sourcedir" -R -Q > diffout.txt This will spit out a file containg lines like "SourceSafe files different from local files" when a change has been made. My challenge is to figure out if those lines are in the file, then do a get and kick off MSBuild if they are. I'd then schedule the batch file to run every 10 minutes or so. Anyone got any thoughts on how to do that? Or any other ways of doing continuous build integration without downloading a complicated build automation system? Update: Happy to use cscript or powershell too, though not really familiar with those environments. My main aim is to avoid installing 3rd party software

  I'm having a perplexing problem with a simple UILabel I put on a cell in a UITableView. I enter a separate view after tapping on a row, like many UITableViews. When I scroll the row off the screen and return it refreshes properly via another path of code that has exactly the same code. Could there be some trigger to refresh specifically the background color of the UILabel? I'm not sure why the text will refresh but the color won't.

  I want to write a Firefox extension that acts exactly like the built-in RSS feed scanner (as an exercise). It should do the following: On each new page / tab load, it should scan the content of the page for RSS feeds If there are RSS feeds in the page, it should put a button in the location bar that the user can click On clicking the button, a speech bubble should appear under the button (the way a speech bubble appears under the bookmarks star when you click on it), with information on the feeds and buttons to subscribe to them So my main questions are: What is the process to run specific content scripts for specific pages? What is the process to use the results of those scripts to update the speech bubble for each location bar button for each tab? Basically, I'm trying to figure out how to do in Firefox what Page Actions are in Google Chrome. Please help! :)

  I want to manage permissions and access to a SQL Server database server on a development machine. I've created a local windows group (called DBReaderGroup) and assigned various people to it. The group was created as a SQL Server login successfully: create login [MYMACHINE\DBReaderGroup] from windows My goal is to grant this group read/write access to all databases (which are constantly being added and dropped). Is it possible to configure the right settings so that SQL Server manages this? My biggest challenge is that each time a db is created, I have to update the "User Mapping" settings for this group on the new database. Am I missing something simple?

Any ideas? Update I like the idea of adding the comma by checking if the container is empty, but doesn't that mean more processing as it needs to check the length of the string on each occurrence?

• How do I get Linq-to-SQL to refresh its local copy of a database record?

  Suppose I have an Orders table in my database and a corresponding model class generated by the VS2008 "Linq to SQL Classes" designer. Suppose I also have a stored procedure (ProcessOrder) in my database that I use to do some processing on an order record. If I do the following: var order = dataContext.Orders.Where(o => o.id == orderId).First(); // More code here dataContext.ProcessOrder(orderId); order.Status = "PROCESSED"; dataContext.SubmitChanges(); ...then I'll get a concurrency violation if the ProcessOrder stored proc has modified the order (which is of course very likely), because L2S will detect that the order record has changed, and will fail to submit the changes to that order. That's all fairly logical, but what if I want to update the order record after calling the stored proc? How do I tell L2S to forget about its cached copy and refresh it from the DB?

• ASP.NET Gridview Checkbox value to DataTable

  Hey all, First off, im using a checkbox to highlight a true or false value from a dataset which I want to be able to change it. Unfortunately databinding the DataTable to the GridView checkboxes doesnt work (as you probably know) as it requires it to be in "edit" mode. The way I've gotten round this is having the checkbox reading the data table value seperately rather than being databound and locked: Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("myValue")) %>' So that solves checkbox values from DataTable - GridView, now I need to do the opposite having the changed checkbox values go from GridView - DataTable as it is not ready to submit it to my data source (SQL) just yet. I figure I need to run a loop through the GridView rows, thats a give'un, what I can't figure out is how to replace/update just a single value in a row of a DataTable , only the ability to add or remove an entire row by the looks of things (something I don't want to do). So can anyone offer a workaround? Or is there a way to have a databound but always editable checkbox in a gridview?
