• PHP - a different open_basedir per each virtual host

  Hi I've came across on this problem, I have a sever running apache and php. We have many virtual hosts but we've noticed that a potentially malicious user could use his web space to browse other user's files(via a simple php script) and even system files, this could happens due to the php permissions. A way to avoid it is to set the open_basedir var in php.ini, yhis is very simple in a single host system, but in case of virtual hosts there would be a basebir per each host. Ho can I set dis basedir per each user/host? is there a way to let apache hereditate php privileges of the php file that has been requested E.G. /home/X_USER/index.php has as owner X_USER, when apache read the file index.php it checks its path and owner, simply I'm looking for a system set php basedir variable to that path. • Supporting different locale regions using Rails i18n

  I'm using the standard Rails I18n API to localise some of our views. This is working really well, but we now have a few use cases for regional changes to the en locale. The API guide mentions that this isn't supported directly, and other plugins should be used. However, I'm wondering whether there's a simpler way to do this. I already have en.yml, so in theory I could just create en-AU.yml and en-US.yml which are effectively clones of en.yml but with a few regional changes applied. I could then add additional English - American and English - Australian options to our configuration which would map to the new region-specific locales and allow users to use a region-specific locale. The only problem I can think of with this is that it isn't DRY -- I would have duplicate translations for all common English words. I can't see a way around this. Are there any other disadvantages to this approach, or should I just bite the bullet and dive into one of the plug-ins such as Globalize2 instead?

  We have three domains hosted on one dedicated server each with its own dedicated IP. Domain A - Has the server primary IP address (default server IP) Domain B - Has its own IP address Domain C - has its own IP address If an email goes out from Domain B then it uses the Domain A IP address in outgoing and this makes emails from Domain B using PHP go straight to spam box of Gmail etc. Is there any way to change the source IP depending on where the email originates from in PHP? What should we change to fix this?

• How to setup .htaccess to rewrite to different folder

  I'm moving my site to a new host but I need to have my current server continue to handle requests (not all files can be moved to the new server). So I added a parked domain to my old server (old.mydomain.com) and I want all requests to it to be written to the files from the old site. My old site (mydomain.com) was hosted internally in a folder (/public_html/mydomain/) and I want all requests to old.mydomain.com to be rewritten to the same folder. So if mydomain.com/blog was internally at /public_html/mydomain/blog I now want old.mydomain.com/blog also to reach /public_html/mydomain/blog. Here is the .htaccess that I'm trying to use: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^old\.mydomain\.com/* RewriteRule ^(.*)$ mydomain/$1 [NC,L] but for some reason as soon as I add the $1 in the rewrite rule I get an internal error. Any ideas?

• Locking behaviour is different via network shares

  I have been trying to lock a file so that other cloned services cannot access the file. I then read the file, and then move the file when finished. The Move is allowed by using FileShare.Delete. However in later testing, we found that this approach does not work if we are looking at a network share. I appreciate my approach may not have been the best, but my specific question is: Why does the below demo work against the local file, but not against the network file? Meaning solutions that are either more readable or faster(optimized) or simply best-practice.   I thought values entered in forms are properly encoded by browsers. • Select from mysql by day with different timezones (php)

  I'm storing leads in a database, and each lead has a datetime field with a PST timezone based date & time. I want my user to be able to display all leads from a certain date (e.g. today, yseterday), and choose the timezone. E.g. if I want to see all leads that were generated yesterday in EST timezone, I need to first convert (or read) all the datetime values to EST, and then only select those who are in the right range (yesterday). What would be the best way to do that?

• Winforms: calling entry form function from a different class

  I'm kinda new to programming and got a question on what is a good practice. I created a class that represents a ball and it has a function Jump() that use 2 timers and get the ball up and down. I know that in Winforms you got to call Invalidate() every time you want to repaint the screen, or part of it. I didn't find a good way to do that, so I reference the form in my class, and called Invalidate() inside my ball class every time I need to repaint to ball movement.   I am facing issues with text box size when veiwing in Fire Fox 3.6. < input class="dat" type="text" name="rejection_reason" size="51" maxlength="70" onchange="on_change();" style is as: .dat { font-family : verdana,arial,helvetica; font-size : 8pt; font-weight : bold; text-align : left; vertical-align : middle; background-color : White; } Text box size in Fire Fox is bit smaller than IE6. Not sure why IE6 and FireFox displaying text box of diff size.

  Hi all, I wanted bake command to bake a view of my liking. So I searched bakery and found this Modify-default-HTML-produced-by-baked-templates. But after reading this I was not able to modify the template because I wanted to define some CSS in it and those files are not containing any CSS code (they contain only php code inside them). Also if I have designed my own CSS file for the new template then how do I tell bake command to pick that specified css file for new template ? I am totally confused over here. Has anybody done this similar kinda work using cakePHP. Any help would be greatly appreciable. NOTE: I am using cakePHP v 1.3 latest stable release. Thanks

• Coldfusion Report Builder - How can you set different datasources externally between prod/staging/de

  Coldfusion Report Builder is great. One small issue. We use ANT+CFANT to deploy. When we create the report, say in a datasource called MyApp_dev on a dev box. Everything works great when the report is created. We deploy the report to our staging server, which has a datasource of MyApp_Staging. That server also, may or may not, have the live app working under MyApp_Live. Ant pushes the update to Staging just great. Run the report, crashes and burns. Why? It seems the report is looking for the MyApp_Dev data_source, even though the application is using the MyApp_Staging datasource. In digging around I found a few approaches, I would like to do this one, final, ideal way from the beginning instead of having to go back to do dozens of reports differently when I have a new Aha! moment. 1) Obvious: Pass in the datasource in to the cfreport tag. Doesn't work for ColdFusion Builder Reports as of v8, or v9 as tested on Linux. 2) Most realistic option (but painful) so far: Pass in the query as an object into the ColdFusion Builder report. Let's think about this: Create the Report with the report builder to my heart's content using the RDS, etc on my local box. When I'm done, copy the query into a snippet of code, or into a database column to be dynamically be injected at runtime with correct datasource. Modify my "run report" event to find the query from the database column, insert it into another dynamic cfquery and potentially... evaluate (!?!) it? Fun side is I can set the cfquery datasource to what I would need for each environment. When I modify the report's columns in CF Report Builder, I always have to update the query in the database. Is there a snippet of code that can extract this for me? Hmm. 3) Less than ideal. Suck it up and let all the reports in staging run off the live server. Maybe copy the live data into staging (sans structural changes) to let it seem similar. Are there any eloquent ways to accomplish the above? Thanks in Advance!

  I am attempting to write an XML library file that can be read again into my program. However, in the XML header, it is an attribute that the file is encoded in UTF-16. when i read in the file, i get the error: "content not allowed in prolog" this error does not occur when the encoding attribute is manually changed to UTF-8. I am trying to get the above code to write an XML document encoded in UTF-8, or successfully parse a UTF-16 file. the code for parsing in is DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder loader = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document document = loader.parse(filename); the last line returns the error.

• Django: Named URLs / Same Template, Different Named URL

  I have a webapp that lists all of my artists, albums and songs when the appropriate link is clicked. I make extensive use of generic views (object_list/detail) and named urls but I am coming across an annoyance. I have three templates that pretty much output the exact same html that look just like this: {% extends "base.html" %} {% block content %} <div id="content"> <ul id="starts-with"> {% for starts_with in starts_with_list %} <li><a href="{% url song_list_x starts_with %}">{{ starts_with|upper }}</a></li> {% endfor %} </ul> <ul> {% for song in songs_list %} <li>{{ song.title }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> </div> {% endblock content %} My artist and album template look pretty much the same and I'd like to combine the three template's into one. The fact that my variables start with song can easily be changed to the default obj. It's my <ul id="starts-with"> named url I don't know how to correct. Obviously I want it to link to a specific album/artist/song using the named urls in my urls.py but I don't know how to make it context aware.
