  We are planning to move mysql to dedicated box. At this moment we have web servers and mysql is running on each. Question is: cheaper is to buy 10G switch and put 10G network card into mysql server. Or buy normal gigabit switch and connect mysql box to switch with multiple network cables. In 1G scenario then we give each web server different mysql IP address. I don't think, that mysql box with one 1G link is enough to to satisfy multiple web box mysql traffic. At this moment we have 3 servers witch are running mysql/web. Plan is to add fourth server for mysql only. Thanks. Edit: if we buy 1G switch with mini-GBIC ports. Can we put in mini-GBIC 10G connectors and then connect mysql box to that port?

  I am new to Android game development. I am using AndEngine GLES-2. I have created a box with a sprite. This box is now draggable by using the code below. It works fine. But I want multi-touch on this: I want to rotate the sprite with two fingers on that box, and to keep it draggable. • Startup a Ubuntu FTP and SSH server without logging in

  I have a Ubuntu Server 11.10 box, which I would like to run "headless", and without a keyboard, mouse or display. Is it possible that immediately after startup the machine logs into an account, or allows me to control the machine from my Windows 7 machine nearby via SSH and SFTP? I've got OpenSSH server installed, and even when the box is not logged in I can start an SSH session. I've tried installing VSFTPD but its very troublesome (hardly connects) and only starts when I login locally into the box.

• Getting Synergy+ to work with Windows 7 64bit and Windows XP 32bit?

  My Windows XP box is Dell 4550 dimension. Windows 7 box is Home Premium. Synergy + installs fine on the Windows 7box, but using Windows xp as the client, it won't work? Do I need to disconnect the vga connection from my monitor and control entirely from the win7 dvi connection? In setting up ( links ) on Windows 7 as the server, I have NO way of inputing info? The setup on the Windows xp box is simple and does so OK, but I can't connect to the Windows xp box! It must be the vga connection on the Windows XP box. In order to use both machines, I have to turn one off and the other on. Hence-the VGA is needed on Windows XP. Any info/help most appreciated.

• Ubuntu 12.10 - VirtualBox not sharing internet with guest system

  I went from ArchLinux to Ubuntu on my dev box. I use VirtualBox to test web sites on Windows and IE. I have my Windows 7 VirtualBox image running on Ubuntu's VirtualBox. Back with ArchLinux, internet worked "out of the box" on the Windows boxes. I left the default options on the box's Network Options (NAT). The Windows machine shows as "connected to ethernet" but reports: The dns server isn't responding So I can't access Internet from there. I tried searching for Ubuntu's official docs but they seem pretty outdated. I tried using my old boxes from Arch (which boot normally but have no internet) and creating a new box from Ubuntu itself, but still get the same results. Update: I'm using VirtualBox 4.1.18 from Ubuntu's repository (apt-get install virtualbox).

  Let's say I need to add a drop shadow behind a box. Some old platforms do not support drop shadows, so I have to fake it by putting an image behind the box. • VNC Server not responsive after a few days

  I am new to Ubuntu (11.10) - I installed Ubuntu on a box which has no screen and no keyboard. I connect to that box via tightvncserver. The box is mostly used as a file and media server (i.e. samba + XBMC). So far so good. I can connect via VNC to the box and take control of it. But after a few days, when trying to connect via VNC, I don't get a response. The media server is still on, ping is fine, but VNC is down. The only solution I have found is to plug a screen and keyboard and reboot. I am not sure how to diagnose the problem (maybe some log files?) or if this is just a configuration issue. Any help appreciated.

• Getting BootMgr not found errors repeatedly on Win7 x64

  So here is the basic configuration of the box: Primary RAID 1 (Mirror, Bootable): 2x 300GB WD SATA drives AMD Phenom Quad Core x64 @2.2 ASUS M3N78 Pro Board 4GB RAM Win 7 Ultimate Additionally, this box is a Host OS for several CentOS Boxes via VirtualBox. The box runs like a champ but, for whatever reason, everytime I restart the machine I get a BootMgr not found error when the box tries to boot. I pop in my Win DVD, select 'Repair Windows' then 'Fix Start Up Problems' and everything works fine...once. When I restart the box again I have to go back through this process. Any ideas on what is going on?

  Newbie questoin but I can't seem to figure it out. Using cwrsync which in turn calls ssh.exe from a Windows Vista box to Ubuntu. For below, user in ubuntu is 'linuxuser' and user on Windows box is 'winuser' - remote box is 'linuxhost' and windows box is 'winhost' Exported keys such that on the remote box /home/linuxuser/.ssh/authorized_keys is correctly populated. Problem is when I launch ssh it tries to write to /home/winuser/.ssh instead of /cygdrive/home/users/winuser/.ssh as below. c:\Program Files (x86)\cwRsync\binssh linuxuser@linuxhost Could not create directory '/home/winuser/.ssh'. The authenticity of host 'linuxhost (192.168.1.105)' can't be establish ed. RSA key fingerprint is 67:10:a9:49:6e:a3:2b:4a:a0:e0:b7:75:76:da:c3:04. I have upgraded alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils to 1.0.24 by building from source, thanks to this blog post.   We are trying to rewrite to another folder if the file does not exist in the document root, but does exist in the other folder. The other folder is in a completely different location, which is located using "Alias" in the vhosts. So, what we have so far (from this post How to rewrite URI from root if file exists in folder?) is: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/legacy/ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ legacy/$1 [QSA,L] This works to an extent, but seems to direct everything to the legacy folder, not just when the file doesn't exist in the first location and does exist in legacy. • Problems when loop over a series of ssh-ed commands

  I have a series of server machines which I want to run the same command on. Each command takes hours and (even though I am running the commands using nohup and setting them to run in the background) I have to wait for each to finish before the next starts. Here is roughly how I have set it up: On the host machines: for i in {1..9}; do ssh RemoteMachine${i} ./RunJobs.sh; done Where RunJobs.sh on each remote machine is: source ~/.bash_profile cd AriadneMatching for file in FileDirectory/Input_*; do nohup ./Executable ${file} & done exit Does anyone know of a way such that I dont have to wait for each job to finish before the next starts? Or alternatively a better way of doing this, I have a feeling what I am do is fairly sub-optimal. Cheers, Jack

• Hosts file in Apache keep changing for OS Linux Redhat [on hold]

  I have installed Apache server. Two clients ex client_1 and client_2. The operation that we are performing on client_1 reflecting to client_2. We have etc/hosts file in our software install location which is keep on changing for client_2 with client_1 IP address. If I correct the entries in hosts file to client_2 also in the next few minuets it is changing automatically to the client_1(if we start the client_1 service). Please explain the use of hosts file and where and when it will change by Apache service. • nginx + reverse proxy question

  Hello, I am using nginx right now for our production sites with the reverse proxy to apache that's on the same server and it works fantastic. I'm wondering if I can do this: Install nginx on box #1 in say Canada and have it reverse proxy http requests to box #2 in a datacenter in the USA. I know there may be some latency or delays in loading the page etc but that would probably be not noticable to the end user especially if both servers have 100mb ports. Box #2 only does the apache requests, all images are served from box #1 via nginx. Now, would the end visitor be able to tell in any which way that there are 2 boxes being used? Box #2 has sensitive data which we can't have stolen in the event of hacking etc, so this method helps keep things a bit more secure. Anyone know if this is possible or have done something similar?

• Catch headset pause/play keypresses in Windows

  I have a new Ultrabook which has single audio jack for input and output instead for separate 3.5 mm jacks we used to have on older machines. The jack is probably similar to American Audio Jack specification or like the one found on Macbook Pro. I have tried to use it with the Apple, HTC, Nokia earphones which ship with most of the smartphones. Microphone on the headset works the way it should. Thing is that the headsets also come with remote controls to control volume and playback. I am sure that those key presses are sent to the Windows. I was hoping to catch those events and bind those to actual media keys so that I can control music playback. I guess this happens on Macs. I want to do the similar thing on the Windows. I'm just not sure where I can catch the events. Driver level? Application level?

When screen locks there is a blue box on top of the wallpaper and password dialog box that hides the field for entering your password or switching users. Problem is on 2 systems with similar hardware (Nvidia card, x-swat driver, dual monitors) You can still type your password in blindly and hit enter to login but it's irritating to not be able to see the dialog box.

  Is there some way to change the permissions recursively on a series of directories without getting a dialog box that pops up and tells me it can't change the permissions on a particular file? I keep getting this dialogs multiple times duing the process of changing permissions: An error occurred while applying security information to: C:\pagefile.sys The process cannot access the file because it is being used another process. Eventually I get so many of them that I start clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar so many times that I accidentally click the cancel button. Also it would be great if I could keep a log of which files it can't change permissions on. Is this possible in Windows 7? Does it have to be done from the command prompt or from powershell?
