• iPhone: Navigation Bar button indefinitely links to it's own view.

  Hi there, When I navigate from the root view to another view, it works. However, when I want to get back, the navigation button links to itself. This goes on for about 6 taps, until it eventually goes back to the root view. This only occurs on one view, and the rest are working fine. I have no idea what code is causing this, but if you need any code, I will amend this post with it. Just ask for it. Thanks a lot, Jack.

• Rails CSV import, adding to a related table

  Hi, I have a csv importing system on my app (used locally only) which parses the csv file line by line and adds the data to the database table. There is a relationship that courses HABTM years and years HABTM courses. In the csv file (effectively in row[5] to row[8]) are the year_id s. Is there a way that I can add this within the method above. I am confused as to how to loop over the 4 items and add them to the courses_years table. Thank you Jack

• Django how to handle # in variable name.

  I've got a dictionary in python which is assigned as a template variable. One of the keys is named "#text" but when i try to access it using {{ artist.image.3."#text"}} I get an error which is File "/home/jack/Desktop/test/appengine/lib/django/django/template/__init__.py", line 558, in __init__ raise TemplateSyntaxError, "Could not parse the remainder: %s" % token[upto:] TemplateSyntaxError: Could not parse the remainder: "#text" So how can I use this in the template? I've tried putting quotes around it but to no avail. I'd like to not modify the dictionary if possible, but if its easy enough to do then I guess its okay. Thanks

• Cloud Database Service Latency/Performance

  Hi All, I am running a heavy traffic site and our server is beginning to get to its limits, at the moment the entire LAMP stack is on one box (not ideal). I would like to move the database onto it's own box or onto a cloud service, but from my previous experience moving the database off the same box as the webserver increases the latency of reads quite dramatically slowing down the site. Is using a cloud service for this going to overcome this problem, because as far as I can tell its essentially the same situation (as moving it onto a separate box in my control)? In which case why is there so much popularity around cloud based database services at the moment? Are cloud based database services so quick that the latency of reads is so low that its almost like having it on the same box in the same datacentre?

  Hi folks My problem is that I'm trying to count which tag has been used most in a table of user-submitted code. But the problem is with the database structure. The current query I'm using is this: SELECT tag1, COUNT(tag1) AS counttag FROM code GROUP BY tag1 ORDER BY counttag DESC LIMIT 1 This is fine, except, it only counts the most often occurence of tag1 - and my database has 5 tags per post - so there's columns tag1, tag2, tag3, tag4, tag5. How do I get the highest occurring tag value from all 5 columns in one query? Jack

• destroy an android service

  I am using a service in my android app, which is called when an alarm is activated by a calander. When the service has been activated i want it to be destroyed by the OnStart() method once it has completed its code. My OnStart() method: @Override public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); Vibrator vi = (Vibrator) getSystemService(Context.VIBRATOR_SERVICE); vi.vibrate(5000); Toast.makeText(this, "MyAlarmService.onStart()", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); //CODE HERE TO DESTROY SERVICE?? } This bassically means when the service is called it runs the code in the OnStart() method and i want it to destroy itself. • AJAX response inside jqplot not working

  I'm trying to render data from an AJAX response as a bar chart with jqplot. To render this bar chart I use two variables: s1 which contains the numbers ex: s1 = [22,67,32,89] ticks which contains the name corresponding to a number inside s1 ex: ticks = ["Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John"] So my AJAX returns two variables, data1 and data2. • Pattern for null settings

  Hi, I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas about this one. in my application i have controls that are binded to objects properties. but.. the controls always looks like that: a check box, label that explain the settings and then the edited control (for ex: text box) when unchecking the checkbox i disable the text box (using binding) when the checkbox is unchecked i want the property to contain null, and when it is checked i would like the property to contain the text box's text. Of course text box can be NumericUpDown, ComboBox, DatePicker etc.. Do you have any smart way of doing it using binding or do i have to do everything on code; I really would like to a build a control that supports that and re-use it all over Ideas? Thanks,

• How can I organize many results in a selectbox using php?

  I have a select box that is part of a form. It is currently querying the addresses table and displaying the addresses into the select box. I plan on having up to 100 addresses. I'm looking for a solution where I can show all the states if the user clicks on the select box. Then if the user hovers over a state it will show all the addresses for that specific state. Then if the user clicks on an address, it will show that as the picked option in the select box. This is like a dropdown menu within a select box. Does anyone know where I can find a solution as this?

• iPhone: App crashes when I click on a cell in table view.

  Hi there, Compiling my application works—everything is fine. The only errors I get are by deprecated functions (setText). The only problem is now, is that when I tap on a cell in my table, the app crashes, even though it's meant to push to the next view in the stack. Any solutions are appreciated, if you need any code, just ask. Also, how can I only make sure that one cell goes to only one view? For example: When I tap on CSS, it takes me to a new table with different levels of CSS. WHen I tap on an item in that new view, it comes up with an article on what I just selected. Regards, Jack

  I need some help with the positioning of divs that appear on each #box's hover event. The hidden divs should appear over the box that was hovered in a way that: Each #tooltip div covers the box that was hovered plus the box next to it The tooltips of boxes 1 & 2 should cover the boxes to the right #tooltips for box 3 & 4 should cover the boxes to their left (to make it more understandable, please see the attached image There will be several rows of boxes so positioning should be relative and not fixed to the page dimensions (i suppose) So far I haven't managed to get the #tooltip positionings right (I know that one should be absolute and the other relative but no matter my efforts, I haven't nailed it yet).   I need to retrieve all records ordered alphabetically. Except for a predefined list of record's columns which their records should appear first in a given predefined order, then all other records should be sorted alphabetically based on the same column For instance, assume we have the following table which is called Names Lets assume the predefined list is ("Mathew", "Ashraf", "Jack"). I.e. these are the names of whom their records should be listed first as in the predefined order. So the desired query result should be: Which query could retrieve this custom order ? P.S, I'm using MySQL. • Float over two elements

  My problem is rather complex to explain, so I'll show you an example: http://ewolf.bplaced.de/misc/float.htm I want to have a floated element (the blue box) to be be placed over two other elements (red and green) and I want the whole thing to be fixed-width and centered (done by the box with the black border) while the background of the red and green box should fill the whole width. I'm actually not quite sure if the way I've done it now is XHTML/CSS valid, but it works - at least in Firefox. In IE6, the green box expands to fit the whole blue box - how can I fix this in IE6 or find another solution to show it correctly in all browsers?

  I've got some json from last.fm's api which I've serialised into a dictionary using simplejson. A quick example of the basic structure is below. { "artist": "similar": { "artist": { "name": "Blah", "image": {"#text":"URLHERE","size": "small"} "image": {"#text":"URLHERE","size": "medium"} "image": {"#text":"URLHERE","size": "large"} } } } Any ideas how I can access the image urls of various different sizes. My attempts at accessing the #text variable don't seem to work because python doesn't appear to like #'s in the names. And any ideas how I can easily get the url for the depending on the size?   In the left navigation i have a series of check boxes and a grid view in the page body.Grid view results changes based on the check box selection,whenever i click on the links in grid view it goes to the second page and there is a link on the page which takes me back to the first page,but the check box selected value is maintained for the first time only and if we repeat the same process for the second time and i see that the first time selection of the check box is maintained.Here the grid view is placed in update panel and the check box in the left is called using .... AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="cphLeftNavigation". I've tried removing the above code referring the cphLeftNavigation and i see the results are coming up correctly and the last selected check box value is being maintained correctly and i want the same functionality to be implemented with/without update panel. Can anyone let me know,what exactly should i change to implement the above mentioned functionality.

  Double buffering not working with combo-box. is there any another methods to avoid flickering in windows forms? i have one windows form with number of panels in it. I'm showing only one panel at a time based on my menu selection. i have one icon panel,one header panel and the combo box. based on the selected item of that combo-box the gridview1 and 2 are filling. when I'm rapidly selecting the combo-box item using my keyboard down arrow the icon panel and the header panel are always repainting. i need to keep that both without any change. this two panels producing some flashing effect(ie,they are blinking or flashing) while I'm changing the combo box selected index. is there any way to avoid this flashing.? i tried double-buffered enabled in form constructor and form load event. Please Help..............

• Lightbox getting open multiple time on enter.

  Hi All, I am going through a weird problem while using lightbox . Where ever the new light box is used user is able to open the same light box on same page number of time. For e.g Using tab button go to `Lightbox link`. Press enter --> Light box will open. Press enter --> second light box open below the previous one. and so on....... The problem is occurred when I use tab and entered on the link my focus is not getting changed from the link and so user is able to open multiple lightbox on clicking enter.
