  • ClassCastException when casting custom View subclass

    - by Jens Jacob
    Hi I've run into an early problem with developing for android. I've made my own custom View (which works well). In the beginning i just added it to the layout programmatically, but i figured i could try putting it into the XML layout instead (for consistency). So what i got is this: main.xml: [...] <sailmeter.gui.CompassView android:id="@+id/compassview1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/widget55" android:background="@color/white" /> [...] CompassView.java: public class CompassView extends View { } SailMeter.java (activity class): public class SailMeter extends Activity implements PropertyChangeListener { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); compassview = (CompassView) findViewById(R.id.compassview1); [...] } } (Theres obviously more, but you get the point) Now, this is the stacktrace: 05-23 16:32:01.991: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{sailmeter.gui/sailmeter.gui.SailMeter}: java.lang.ClassCastException: android.view.View 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2596) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2621) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2200(ActivityThread.java:126) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1932) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4595) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: android.view.View 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at sailmeter.gui.SailMeter.onCreate(SailMeter.java:51) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2544) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): ... 11 more Why cant i cast my custom view? I need it to be that type since it has a few extra methods in it that i want to access. Should i restructure it and have another class handle the logic, and then just having the view being a view? Thanks for any help.

  • Using native MySQL driver in Erlang

    I am using native MySQL driver (http://code.google.com/p/erlang-mysql-driver/) with mochiweb. When I tried that MySQL driver in shell mode, all woked fine. • C# XPath Not Finding Anything

    - by ehdv
    I'm trying to use XPath to select the items which have a facet with Location values, but currently my attempts even to just select all items fail: The system happily reports that it found 0 items, then returns (instead the nodes should be processed by a foreach loop). I'd appreciate help either making my original query or just getting XPath to work at all. XML <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <Collection Name="My Collection" SchemaVersion="1.0" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/collection/metadata/2009" xmlns:p="http://schemas.microsoft.com/livelabs/pivot/collection/2009" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <FacetCategories> <FacetCategory Name="Current Address" Type="Location"/> <FacetCategory Name="Previous Addresses" Type="Location" /> </FacetCategories> <Items> <Item Id="1" Name="John Doe"> <Facets> <Facet Name="Current Address"> <Location Value="101 America Rd, A Dorm Rm 000, Chapel Hill, NC 27514" /> </Facet> <Facet Name="Previous Addresses"> <Location Value="123 Anywhere Ln, Darien, CT 06820" /> <Location Value="000 Foobar Rd, Cary, NC 27519" /> </Facet> </Facets> </Item> </Items> </Collection> C# public void countItems(string fileName) { XmlDocument document = new XmlDocument(); document.Load(fileName); XmlNode root = document.DocumentElement; XmlNodeList xnl = root.SelectNodes("//Item"); Console.WriteLine(String.Format("Found {0} items" , xnl.Count)); } There's more to the method than this, but since this is all that gets run I'm assuming the problem lies here. Calling root.ChildNodes accurately returns FacetCategories and Items, so I am completely at a loss. Thanks for your help!

  • App starts in 1.5 emulator but doesn't in 1.6

    - by DixieFlatline
    My app works on 1.5 emulator and 1.5 device. When i try to start it on 1.6 emulator, it produces strange exceptions (doesn't even start). I don't have any 1.6 device to try this app if it works on a real device. I get some warnings in Eclipse ( warning: Ignoring InnerClasses attribute for an anonymous inner class that doesn't come with an associated EnclosingMethod attribute. This class was probably produced by a broken compiler.) and get cant rid of them (i think they come from some apache jars that i need to make http multipart posts). Is it possible that this jars are cause for my exceptions in 1.6 or is it something else? • Ksoap2 Error after Updating Android SDK and ADT

    - by user1291644
    I have a problem. When I updated Android SDK tool to version 17 and the ADT to 17 I can't use ksoap2 any more. I start the app and get this error: 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.pridobiDanasnjo(SplashScreen.java:124) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.onCreate(SplashScreen.java:73) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2679) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2300(ActivityThread.java:125) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:2033) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) I should get String with some numbers but instead I get this error.   • How to parse deeply nested using LINQ to XML

    - by Picflight
    How do I parse the following XML using LINQ? I need to insert into a database table OrderNumber, ShipAddress, ShipCity, ShipState for each Order & OrderCancelled. Then in a separate table I need to insert OrderId from the Returns/Amount section. <!-- language: lang-xml --> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <OrdersReport Date="2012-08-01"> <Client> <ClientId>1</ClientId> <Orders> <Order> <OrderNumber>1</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>123 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>MyCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AZ</ShipState> </Order> <Order> <OrderNumber>2</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>111 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>OtherCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AL</ShipState> </Order> <OrderCancelled> <OrderNumber>3</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>111 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>OtherCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AL</ShipState> </OrderCancelled> </Orders> <Returns> <Amount> <OrderId>2</OrderId> <OrderId>3</OrderId> </Amount> </Returns> </Client> <Client> <ClientId>2</ClientId> <!-- Same Tree structure as Client 1 --> </Client> </OrdersReport> Not sure why the XML is not showing red and blue colors and not indenting properly. :-(

  • Code Golf: Evaluating Mathematical Expressions

    - by Noldorin
    Challenge Here is the challenge (of my own invention, though I wouldn't be surprised if it has previously appeared elsewhere on the web). Write a function that takes a single argument that is a string representation of a simple mathematical expression and evaluates it as a floating point value. A "simple expression" may include any of the following: positive or negative decimal numbers, +, -, *, /, (, ). Expressions use (normal) infix notation. Operators should be evaluated in the order they appear, i.e. not as in BODMAS, though brackets should be correctly observed, of course. The function should return the correct result for any possible expression of this form. However, the function does not have to handle malformed expressions (i.e. ones with bad syntax). Examples of expressions: 1 + 3 / -8 = -0.5 (No BODMAS) 2*3*4*5+99 = 219 4 * (9 - 4) / (2 * 6 - 2) + 8 = 10 1 + ((123 * 3 - 69) / 100) = 4 2.45/8.5*9.27+(5*0.0023) = 2.68... Rules I anticipate some form of "cheating"/craftiness here, so please let me forewarn against it! By cheating, I refer to the use of the eval or equivalent function in dynamic languages such as JavaScript or PHP, or equally compiling and executing code on the fly. (I think my specification of "no BODMAS" has pretty much guaranteed this however.) Apart from that, there are no restrictions. I anticipate a few Regex solutions here, but it would be nice to see more than just that. Now, I'm mainly interested in a C#/.NET solution here, but any other language would be perfectly acceptable too (in particular, F# and Python for the functional/mixed approaches). I haven't yet decided whether I'm going to accept the shortest or most ingenious solution (at least for the language) as the answer, but I would welcome any form of solution in any language, except what I've just prohibited above! My Solution I've now posted my C# solution here (403 chars). Update: My new solution has beaten the old one significantly at 294 chars, with the help of a bit of lovely regex! I suspected that this will get easily beaten by some of the languages out there with lighter syntax (particularly the funcional/dynamic ones), and have been proved right, but I'd be curious if someone could beat this in C# still. Update I've seen some very crafty solutions already. Thanks to everyone who has posted one. Although I haven't tested any of them yet, I'm going to trust people and assume they at least work with all of the given examples. Just for the note, re-entrancy (i.e. thread-safety) is not a requirement for the function, though it is a bonus. Format Please post all answers in the following format for the purpose of easy comparison: Language Number of characters: ??? Fully obfuscated function: (code here) Clear/semi-obfuscated function: (code here) Any notes on the algorithm/clever shortcuts it takes.

  • Why does Android Account & Sync reboot when trying to find my settings activity?

    - by mobibob
    I have an activity that I can declare as Launcher category and it launches just fine from the home screen. • Why does keyboard-slide crash my app?

    - by Brad Hein
    If I physically slide out the keyboard on my Moto Droid A855, it crashes my test app with the stack trace pasted below. I don't understand why? • Spinner cannot load an integer array?

    - by Adam
    I have an application, which has a Spinner that I want populated with some numbers (4,8,12,16). I created an integer-array object in strings.xml with the items mentioned above, set the entries of the Spinner to the integer-array, and when I run the app I get: 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): java.lang.NullPointerException 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.createViewFromResource(ArrayAdapter.java:355) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.getView(ArrayAdapter.java:323) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.AbsSpinner.onMeasure(AbsSpinner.java:198) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureChildBeforeLayout(LinearLayout.java:888) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:350) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:278) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:245) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:464) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:278) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:245) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:763) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1632) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4310) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) As soon as I changed the array to a string-array, this works fine.   • Posting comments to a wordpress-blog in Android

    - by Samuh
    I am working on a module that allows users to post comments on a blog published on Wordpress. I looked at the HTML source for Post-Comment-Form displayed at the bottom of a blog entry (Leave a Reply section). Using that as a reference, I translated it to Java using DefaultHTTPClient and BasicNameValuePairs and my code looks like: DefaultHttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://xycabz.wordpress.com/wp-comments-post.php"); httppost.setHeader("Content-type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded;charset=UTF-8"); List<NameValuePair> nvps = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("author","abc")); nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("email","[email protected]")); nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("url","")); nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment","entiendamonos?")); nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment_post_ID","123")); //this was a hidden field and always set to 0 nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment_parent","0")); try { httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nvps)); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } BasicResponseHandler handler = new BasicResponseHandler(); try { Log.e("OUTPUT",httpclient.execute(httppost,handler)); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } The above code works fine when I try it out on my blog. But when I try this on the actual blog, I get HTTP 302 Found (Redirect to temporary location) exceptions in the logs. The comments never make it to the blog page. Usually, when you post a comment(on the web page) you are taken back to the blog page that enlists all the comments. The URL I am getting in the redirects is the same. Questions: 1. Could this be a post-a-comment settings problem(perhaps something the original blog owner might have set)? 2. How should my HTTPClient handle 302 status code? Eventually, I just have to notify the user of success and failure and not actually take him to the comments page.

  • How to avoid this PDO exception: Cannot execute queries while other unbuffered queries are active

    - by Vittorio Vittori
    Hi, I'd like to print a simple table in my page with 3 columns, building name, tags and architecture style. If I try to retrieve the list of building names and arch. styles there is no problem: SELECT buildings.name, arch_styles.style_name FROM buildings INNER JOIN buildings_arch_styles ON buildings.id = buildings_arch_styles.building_id INNER JOIN arch_styles ON arch_styles.id = buildings_arch_styles.arch_style_id LIMIT 0, 10 My problem starts on retreaving the first 5 tags for every building of the query I've just wrote. SELECT DISTINCT name FROM tags INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings_tags.tag_id = tags.id AND buildings_tags.building_id = 123 LIMIT 0, 5 The query itself works perfectly, but not where I thought to use it: <?php // pdo connection allready active, i'm using mysql $pdo_conn->setAttribute(PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_USE_BUFFERED_QUERY, true); $sql = "SELECT buildings.name, buildings.id, arch_styles.style_name FROM buildings INNER JOIN buildings_arch_styles ON buildings.id = buildings_arch_styles.building_id INNER JOIN arch_styles ON arch_styles.id = buildings_arch_styles.arch_style_id LIMIT 0, 10"; $buildings_stmt = $pdo_conn->prepare ($sql); $buildings_stmt->execute (); $buildings = $buildings_stmt->fetchAll (PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $sql = "SELECT DISTINCT name FROM tags INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings_tags.tag_id = tags.id AND buildings_tags.building_id = :building_id LIMIT 0, 5"; $tags_stmt = $pdo_conn->prepare ($sql); $html = "<table>"; // i'll use it to print my table foreach ($buildings as $building) { $name = $building["name"]; $style = $building["style_name"]; $id = $building["id"]; $tags_stmt->bindParam (":building_id", $id, PDO::PARAM_INT); $tags_stmt->execute (); // the problem is HERE $tags = $tags_stmt->fetchAll (PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $html .= "... $name ... $style"; foreach ($tags as $current_tag) { $tag = $current_tag["name"]; $html .= "... $tag ..."; // let's suppose this is an area of the table where I print the first 5 tags per building } } $html .= "...</table>"; print $html; I'm not experienced on queries, so i though something like this, but it throws the error: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2014 Cannot execute queries while other unbuffered queries are active. Consider using PDOStatement::fetchAll(). Alternatively, if your code is only ever going to run against mysql, you may enable query buffering by setting the PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_USE_BUFFERED_QUERY attribute. What can I do to avoid this? Should I change all and search a different way to get this kind of queries?

  • mysql index optimization for a table with multiple indexes that index some of the same columns

    - by Sean
    I have a table that stores some basic data about visitor sessions on third party web sites. This is its structure: id, site_id, unixtime, unixtime_last, ip_address, uid There are four indexes: id, site_id/unixtime, site_id/ip_address, and site_id/uid There are many different types of ways that we query this table, and all of them are specific to the site_id. The index with unixtime is used to display the list of visitors for a given date or time range. The other two are used to find all visits from an IP address or a "uid" (a unique cookie value created for each visitor), as well as determining if this is a new visitor or a returning visitor. Obviously storing site_id inside 3 indexes is inefficient for both write speed and storage, but I see no way around it, since I need to be able to quickly query this data for a given specific site_id. Any ideas on making this more efficient? I don't really understand B-trees besides some very basic stuff, but it's more efficient to have the left-most column of an index be the one with the least variance - correct? Because I considered having the site_id being the second column of the index for both ip_address and uid but I think that would make the index less efficient since the IP and UID are going to vary more than the site ID will, because we only have about 8000 unique sites per database server, but millions of unique visitors across all ~8000 sites on a daily basis. I've also considered removing site_id from the IP and UID indexes completely, since the chances of the same visitor going to multiple sites that share the same database server are quite small, but in cases where this does happen, I fear it could be quite slow to determine if this is a new visitor to this site_id or not. The query would be something like: select id from sessions where uid = 'value' and site_id = 123 limit 1 ... so if this visitor had visited this site before, it would only need to find one row with this site_id before it stopped. This wouldn't be super fast necessarily, but acceptably fast. But say we have a site that gets 500,000 visitors a day, and a particular visitor loves this site and goes there 10 times a day. Now they happen to hit another site on the same database server for the first time. The above query could take quite a long time to search through all of the potentially thousands of rows for this UID, scattered all over the disk, since it wouldn't be finding one for this site ID. Any insight on making this as efficient as possible would be appreciated :) Update - this is a MyISAM table with MySQL 5.0. My concerns are both with performance as well as storage space. This table is both read and write heavy. If I had to choose between performance and storage, my biggest concern is performance - but both are important. We use memcached heavily in all areas of our service, but that's not an excuse to not care about the database design. I want the database to be as efficient as possible.

    hello everyone, i am trying to run an application on an android emulator, but it crashes. i am following a howto i don't know what to do, it just crashes. other applications are running fine, can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong.here is the code: public class Finder extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ private LocationManager myLocationManager; private LocationListener myLocationListener; private TextView myLatitude, myLongitude; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); myLatitude = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.Latitude); myLongitude = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.Longitude); myLocationManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); myLocationListener = new MyLocationListener(); myLocationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER,0,0,myLocationListener); myLatitude.setText(String.valueOf( myLocationManager.getLastKnownLocation( LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER).getLatitude())); myLongitude.setText(String.valueOf( myLocationManager.getLastKnownLocation( LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER).getLongitude())); } private class MyLocationListener implements LocationListener{ public void onLocationChanged(Location argLocation) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub myLatitude.setText(String.valueOf( argLocation.getLatitude())); myLongitude.setText(String.valueOf( argLocation.getLongitude())); } public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } }; } i looked in the logcat after running the application, it seems that the following lines are cause of the problem but i don't understand it:( 01-18 22:12:46.017: WARN/dalvikvm(1091): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001aa28) 01-18 22:12:46.017: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{pro.googleLocation/pro.googleLocation.Finder}: java.lang.NullPointerException 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2401) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2417) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2100(ActivityThread.java:116) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1794) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at pro.googleLocation.Finder.onCreate(Finder.java:28) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1123) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2364) 01-18 22:12:46.037: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1091): ... 11 more

  • Flipping PDF pages in QuartzDemo application

    - by BittenApple
    I am working on modifying the quartzdemo application so that it can show another page from a multipage pdf on tap screen event. So far I have stripped it down to the point where it displays the PDF on any page as initial page, but I can't seem to get it figured out how to make the quartzview display anything else then the initial page. I'm guessing that the pushViewController has something to do with this. Anyway, here's my method that draws the initial page and in sits in QuartzImages.m file: -(void)drawNewPage:(CGContextRef)myContext { CGContextTranslateCTM(myContext, 0.0, self.bounds.size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(myContext, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextSetRGBFillColor(myContext, 255, 255, 255, 1); CGContextFillRect(myContext, CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 412)); CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdfFajl, pageNumber); CGContextSaveGState(myContext); CGAffineTransform pdfTransform = CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFCropBox, self.bounds, 0, true); CGContextConcatCTM(myContext, pdfTransform); CGContextDrawPDFPage(myContext, page); CGContextRestoreGState(myContext); } This gets fired up in MainViewController.m so: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // ### DISPLAY DESIRED PAGE QuartzViewController *targetViewController = [self controllerAtIndexPath:indexPath]; if ([targetViewController.quartzView isKindOfClass:[QuartzPDFView1 class]]) { ((QuartzPDFView1 *)targetViewController.quartzView).pageNumber = 1; CFURLRef pdfURL = CFBundleCopyResourceURL(CFBundleGetMainBundle(), CFSTR("mypdftest.pdf"), NULL, NULL); ((QuartzPDFView1 *)targetViewController.quartzView).pdfFajl = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfURL); CFRelease(pdfURL); } [[self navigationController] pushViewController:targetViewController animated:YES]; } Since I'm fairly new to the iPhone development (I'm currently only on page 123 in "beginning iphone 3 development" book) these controllers confuse me as hell. I have setup an event which gets fired up fine on screen tap. The event sits in QuartzView.m and I get a simple alert on screen tap showing that the tap was registered. I would like to use this method to draw a new page instead of showing the alert, page number doesn't matter, I'll work on incrementing (page flipping) later, I need an example of how to call these methods (if its even possible). These are defined in QuartzView.h and I planned on using them in the tap event method: CGPDFDocumentRef pdfFajl; int pageNumber; Thankful for any useful input from "the internets" :)

    I am building an app on android and running into an error and while searching on net, came across your posting on this and changed the eclipse.ini to increase Xms and Xmx params but still this error does not go away. I am using Eclipse IDE for Java with Andrioid SDK 2.1 on Mac OS. Please help or please point me to someone who might know. Btw, this error only happens when i add external jar files (which i need for my project). here are the list of external jar files that i have in my classpath.) // httpclient-4.0.1.jar from apache // httpcore -4.0.1.jarfrom apache // commons-codec-1.3.jar from apache //commons-logging-1.1.1.jar from apache // json_simple-1.1.jar from google Here is the complete error: UNEXPECTED TOP-LEVEL EXCEPTION: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: already added: Lorg/apache/commons/logging/impl/AvalonLogger; [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.dex.file.ClassDefsSection.add(ClassDefsSection.java:123) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.dex.file.DexFile.add(DexFile.java:143) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processClass(Main.java:301) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processFileBytes(Main.java:278) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.access$100(Main.java:56) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main$1.processFileBytes(Main.java:229) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf http://com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.pro .direct.ClassPathOpener.processArchive(ClassPathOpener.java:244) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.processOne(ClassPathOpener.java:130) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.process(ClassPathOpener.java:108) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processOne(Main.java:247) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processAllFiles(Main.java:183) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.run(Main.java:139) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:592) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.sdk.DexWrapper.run(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.build.ApkBuilder.executeDx(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.build.ApkBuilder.build(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager$2.run(BuildManager.java:627) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.runtime.SafeRunner.run(SafeRunner.java:42) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:170) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:201) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager$1.run(BuildManager.java:253) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.runtime.SafeRunner.run(SafeRunner.java:42) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:256) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuildLoop(BuildManager.java:309) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.build(BuildManager.java:341) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.AutoBuildJob.doBuild(AutoBuildJob.java:140) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.AutoBuildJob.run(AutoBuildJob.java:238) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:55) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp] 4 errors; aborting [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 Thanks, Rupesh

  • ASP.NET site sometimes freezing up and/or showing odd text at top of the page while loading, on load

    - by MGOwen
    I have various servers (dev, 2 x test, 2 x prod) running the same asp.net site. The test and prod servers are in load-balanced pairs (prod1 with prod2, and test1 with test2). The test server pair is exhibiting some kind of (super) slowdown or freezing during about one in ten page loads. Sometimes a line of text appears at the very top of the page which looks something like: 00 OK Date: Thu, 01 Apr 2010 01:50:09 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered_By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version:2.0.50727 Cache-Control:private Content-Type:text/html; charset=ut (the beginning and end are "cut off".) Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any idea what it means or what's causing it? Edit: I often see this too when clicking something - it comes up as red text on a yellow page: XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: http://203.111.46.211/3DSS/CompanyCompliance.aspx?cid=14 Line Number 1, Column 24:2mMTehON9OUNKySVaJ3ROpN" / -----------------------^ If I go back and click again, it works (I see the page I clicked on, not the above error message). Update: ...And, instead of the page loading, I sometimes just get a white screen with text like this in black (looks a lot like the above text): HTTP/1.1 302 Found Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2010 04:53:39 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727 Location: /3DSS/EditSections.aspx?id=3&siteId=56&sectionId=46 Set-Cookie: .3DSS=A6CAC223D0F2517D77C7C68EEF069ABA85E9392E93417FFA4209E2621B8DCE38174AD699C9F0221D30D49E108CAB8A828408CF214549A949501DAFAF59F080375A50162361E4AA94E08874BF0945B2EF; path=/; HttpOnly Cache-Control: private Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 184 object moved here Where "here" is a link that points to a URL just like the one I'm requesting, except with an extra folder in it, meaning something like: http://123.1.2.3/MySite//MySite/Page.aspx?option=1 instead of: http://123.1.2.3/MySite/Page.aspx?option=1 Update: A colleague of mine found some info saying it might be because the test servers are running iis in 64 bit (64bit win 2003) (prod servers are 32 bit win 2003). So we tried telling IIS to use 32 bit: **cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1 %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i ** (from this MS support page) But iis stopped working altogether (got "server unavailable" on a white page instead of web sites). Reversing the above (see the link) didn't work at first either. The ASP.NET tab disappeared from our IIS web site properties and we had to mess around for an hour uninstalling (aspnet_regiis.exe -u) and reinstalling 32 bit ASP.NET and adding Default.aspx manually back into default documents. We'll probably try again in a few days, if anyone has anything to add in the meantime, please do.

  • get_or_create generic relations in Django & python debugging in general

    - by rabidpebble
    I ran the code to create the generically related objects from this demo: http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/models/generic_relations/ Everything is good intially: >>> bacon.tags.create(tag="fatty") <TaggedItem: fatty> >>> tag, newtag = bacon.tags.get_or_create(tag="fatty") >>> tag <TaggedItem: fatty> >>> newtag False But then the use case that I'm interested in for my app: >>> tag, newtag = bacon.tags.get_or_create(tag="wholesome") Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/manager.py", line 123, in get_or_create return self.get_query_set().get_or_create(**kwargs) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 343, in get_or_create raise e IntegrityError: app_taggeditem.content_type_id may not be NULL I tried a bunch of random things after looking at other code: >>> tag, newtag = bacon.tags.get_or_create(tag="wholesome", content_type=TaggedItem) ValueError: Cannot assign "<class 'generics.app.models.TaggedItem'>": "TaggedItem.content_type" must be a "ContentType" instance. or: >>> tag, newtag = bacon.tags.get_or_create(tag="wholesome", content_type=TaggedItem.content_type) InterfaceError: Error binding parameter 3 - probably unsupported type. etc. I'm sure somebody can give me the correct syntax, but the real problem here is that I have no idea what is going on. I have developed in strongly typed languages for over ten years (x86 assembly, C++ and C#) but am new to Python. I find it really difficult to follow what is going on in Python when things like this break. In the languages I mentioned previously it's fairly straightforward to figure things like this out -- check the method signature and check your parameters. Looking at the Django documentation for half an hour left me just as lost. Looking at the source for get_or_create(self, **kwargs) didn't help either since there is no method signature and the code appears very generic. A next step would be to debug the method and try to figure out what is happening, but this seems a bit extreme... I seem to be missing some fundamental operating principle here... what is it? How do I resolve issues like this on my own in the future?

  • FluentNhibernate many-to-many mapping - resolving record is not inserted

    - by Dmitriy Nagirnyak
    Hi, I have a many-to-many mapping defined (only relevant fields included): // MODEL: public class User : IPersistentObject { public User() { Permissions = new HashedSet<Permission>(); } public virtual int Id { get; protected set; } public virtual ISet<Permission> Permissions { get; set; } } public class Permission : IPersistentObject { public Permission() { } public virtual int Id { get; set; } } // MAPPING: public class UserMap : ClassMap<User> { public UserMap() { Id(x => x.Id); HasManyToMany(x => x.Permissions).Cascade.All().AsSet(); } } public class PermissionMap : ClassMap<Permission> { public PermissionMap() { Id(x => x.Id).GeneratedBy.Assigned(); Map(x => x.Description); } } The following test fails as there is no record inserted into User_Permission table: [Test] public void AddingANewUserPrivilegeShouldSaveIt() { var p1 = new Permission { Id = 123, Description = "p1" }; Session.Save(p1); var u = new User { Email = "[email protected]" }; u.Permissions.Add(p1); Session.Save(u); var userId = u.Id; Session.Evict(u); Session.Get<User>(userId).Permissions.Should().Not.Be.Empty(); } The SQL executed is (SQLite): INSERT INTO "Permission" (Description, Id) VALUES (@p0, @p1);@p0 = 'p1', @p1 = 1 INSERT INTO "User" (Email) VALUES (@p0); select last_insert_rowid();@p0 = '[email protected]' SELECT user0_.Id as Id2_0_, user0_.Email as Email2_0_ FROM "User" user0_ WHERE user0_.Id=@p0;@p0 = 1 SELECT permission0_.UserId as UserId1_, permission0_.PermissionId as Permissi2_1_, permission1_.Id as Id4_0_, permission1_.Description as Descript2_4_0_ FROM User_Permissions permission0_ left outer join "Permission" permission1_ on permission0_.PermissionId=permission1_.Id WHERE permission0_.UserId=@p0;@p0 = 1 We can clearly see that there is no record inserted into the User_Permissions table where it should be. Not sure what I am doing wrong and need an advice. So can you please help me to pass this test. Thanks, Dmitriy.

  • Exposing C# COM server events to Delphi client applications

    - by hectorsosajr
    My question is very similar to these two: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1140984/c-component-events http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1638372/c-writing-a-com-server-events-not-firing-on-client However, what worked for them is not working for me. The type library file, does not have any hints of events definitions, so Delphi doesn't see it. The class works fine for other C# applications, as you would expect. COM Server tools: Visual Studio 2010 .NET 4.0 Delphi applications: Delphi 2010 Delphi 7 Here's a simplified version of the code: /// <summary> /// Call has arrived delegate. /// </summary> [ComVisible(false)] public delegate void CallArrived(object sender, string callData); /// <summary> /// Interface to expose SimpleAgent events to COM /// </summary> [ComVisible(true)] [GuidAttribute("1FFBFF09-3AF0-4F06-998D-7F4B6CB978DD")] [InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIDispatch)] public interface IAgentEvents { ///<summary> /// Handles incoming calls from the predictive manager. ///</summary> ///<param name="sender">The class that initiated this event</param> ///<param name="callData">The data associated with the incoming call.</param> [DispId(1)] void OnCallArrived(object sender, string callData); } /// <summary> /// Represents the agent side of the system. This is usually related to UI interactions. /// </summary> [ComVisible(true)] [GuidAttribute("EF00685F-1C14-4D05-9EFA-538B3137D86C")] [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] [ComSourceInterfaces(typeof(IAgentEvents))] public class SimpleAgent { /// <summary> /// Occurs when a call arrives. /// </summary> public event CallArrived OnCallArrived; public SimpleAgent() {} public string AgentName { get; set; } public string CurrentPhoneNumber { get; set; } public void FireOffCall() { if (OnCallArrived != null) { OnCallArrived(this, "555-123-4567"); } } } The type library file has the definitions for the properties and methods, but no events are visible. I even opened the type library in Delphi's viewer to make sure. The Delphi app can see and use any property, methods, and functions just fine. It just doesn't see the events. I would appreciate any pointers or articles to read. Thanks!
