  • Outlook Replies with Inline Comments

    - by BillN
I have a user who uses Word as his e-mail editor. Often when replying to an e-mail, he'll insert his comments into the body of the original e-mail. Since he is using Word as the editor, these show as [User Name] Comment Text in a contrasting color. However, some users see the comments in their Outlook, and others do not. I've tried Selecting/DeSelecting Word as the e-mail editor on the recipients, and it does not seem to make a difference. We are using Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 clients along with a few Entourage Clients. There does not seem to be a pattern related to which client is used, but Entourage seems to be more likely to have the problem. TIA, Bill

  • Bigger ProjectServer farm is performing worse

    - by MSPS DBA
I am using Project Server 2007 sp3 with SharePoint 2007 sp3 and SQL Server 2008 r2. I have recently moved my farm from 2 servers (1 DB and 1 App/Web) to a very big farm having Many Servers, Clustered Database, Load Balancer, Powerful processors and Large RAM. This Farm has more than one Web Servers, Project App Servers, SharePoint App Servers and a separate Index Server. But the performance of Project Server in the new Farm has been downgraded. Views are taking even more time to load data and Project publishing time has also been increased. I am also facing deadlock problems which are causing the project server queue jobs to fail. Could anyone inform me that what would be the reason of this problem and what should be the starting point to look into the issue? Is it mainly because now the application server needs to communicate with other application servers which were not needed in the previous farm? Thanks!

  • Have two exchange servers to communicate together

    - by Data-Base
We have Exchange Server 2007 using our domain ddd.com. We created an isolated network with a firewall/gateway and installed a DC and Exchange Server 2010 using a demo/test domain (ddd.loc). We opened all the needed ports in the firewall (10.10.2.88) to the Exchange Server 2010. In our main Domain Controller (10.10.2.3) we defined the domain ddd.loc with IP 10.10.2.88 (firewalls). We also we defined MX records to the same IP (10.10.2.88) We did that so when we send email from my email [email protected] it will go to the Exchange Server 2010. Anyways, all the pings test from to any servers are OK. But we are not able to send or receive emails. Between these Exchange Servers we can not send any email from the 2010 to any email in general (emails are pending). Also, in Exchange 2007 we are getting error #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##

  • Office features disabled in standalone Outlook

    - by Jared275
I have Office 2007 basic suite installed on my computer. I installed Outlook 2010 from a volume license provided by our Email Server Provider. When creating a new email all of the Office features are disabled in the ribbon. This microsoft support article describes my issue, however I do not have Office installed as click and run. It seems to me that there should be a way to make outlook recognize the office suite already installed. The "add or remove features" dialogue accessed through programs and features from the control panel seems promising, however its only options for "office features" are run from computer, or install on 1st run. I can't seem to find any valid articles online that aren't just dealing with the click to run issue. I know that there are several people at my company with the same set up, installed the same way that have everything working fine. How can I get my standalone Outlook 2010 install to recognize the Office 2007 basic suite?

  • How to combine data from two rows, when certain criteria is met

    - by Corde Parker
I'm trying to make this Excel document but I want the AdminTimes for the same LastRxNo to be on the same line. So if the LastRxNo is the same, have one line and the AdminTime column will have multiple values. Here is a picture of what I want it to look like Any ideas? I was thinking an IF function, but I'm not too familiar with Excel to get it to work. It was just made in the Microsoft Query tool in Excel.

  • ERROR! (Using Excel's named ranges from C#)

    - by mcoolbeth
    In the following, I am trying to persist a set of objects in an excel worksheet. Each time the function is called to store a value, it should allocate the next cell of the A column to store that object. However, an exception is thrown by the Interop library on the first call to get_Range(). (right after the catch block) Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? private void AddName(string name, object value) { Excel.Worksheet jresheet; try { jresheet = (Excel.Worksheet)_app.ActiveWorkbook.Sheets["jreTemplates"]; } catch { jresheet = (Excel.Worksheet)_app.ActiveWorkbook.Sheets.Add(Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing); jresheet.Visible = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.XlSheetVisibility.xlSheetVeryHidden; jresheet.Name = "jreTemplates"; jresheet.Names.Add("next", "A1", true, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing); } Excel.Range cell = jresheet.get_Range("next", Type.Missing); cell.Value2 = value; string address = ((Excel.Name)cell.Name).Name; _app.ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add(name, address, false, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing); cell = cell.get_Offset(1, 0); jresheet.Names.Add("next", ((Excel.Name)cell.Name).Name, true, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing); }

  • Fetching real time data from excel

    - by Umesh Sharma
I am seriouly looking for your valuable help first time here. If possible, plese help me. I am developing a VB.NET app in which i read "real time data" from a excel sheet using "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" i.e. excel automation. All cells in excel sheet are fetching stock data from some LOCAL DDE Server like "=XYZ|Bid!GOLD", "=XYZ|Bid!SILVER", "=XYZ|Ask!SILVER" and so on... Some cells also having fixed values like "Symbol", "Bid Rate", "32.90" etc. Values of DDE mapped cells (i.e. =XYZ|xxxx!yyy) are continuously changing. THE PROBLEM is here..."FIXED values" from excel cells are coming quite ok to my app but all DDE mapped cells values are coming "-2146826246" (When datasource local dde server ON) or "-2146826265" (OFF). Although, if i use C#.NET, it's all ok but not with Vb.NET. I want to display range of excel (A1 to J50) into VB.NET ListView which are changing in every 200ms (5 times in every 1 second) ================ Important ====================================================== Is it possible to BIND "listview items/columns values" with "excel cells" or some local memory variables ?? Currently, i am reading excel "cell by cell" and trying to put values in .NET listview but CPU USES are very high as well as it's toooo slow process. If yes, then how please ? I am a VFP developer but new to .NET It's very easy in VFP then why not in .NET ?? Please guide me, if someone has the solution...

  • C#: How to access an Excel cell?

    - by tksy
I am trying to open an Excel file and populate its cells with data? I have done the following coding so far. Currently I am at this stage with the following code but still I am getting errors: Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass appExcel = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass(); try { // is there already such a file ? if (System.IO.File.Exists("C:\\csharp\\errorreport1.xls")) { // then go and load this into excel Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbooks.Open( "C:\\csharp\\errorreport1.xls", true, false, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value, Missing.Value); } else { // if not go and create a workbook: newWorkbook = appExcel.Workbooks.Add(XlWBATemplate.xlWBATWorksheet); Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet excelWorksheet = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet) newWorkBook.Worksheets.get_Item(1); } i++; j = 1; j++; objsheet.Cells(i, j).Value = "Tabelle: " + rs.Fields["Table_Name"]; j++; objsheet.Cells(i, j).Value = "kombinationsschluessel:FALL " + rs3.Fields[1].Value; j++; objsheet.Cells(i, j).Value = "Null Value: "; j++; objsheet.Cells(i, j).Value = "Updated with 888"; These are the top 2 errors I am getting: Error 1 An object reference is required for the nonstatic field, method, or property 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbooks.Open(string, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object, object)' Error 2 The name 'newWorkbook' does not exist in the current context

  • import text file containing line breaks into excel

    - by Maximilian Tyrtania
I have a plain text file looking like this: "some text containing line breaks" I'm trying to talk excel 2004 (Mac, v.11.5) into opening this file correctly. I'd expect to see only one cell (A1) containing all of the above (without the quotes)... But alas, I can't make it happen, because Excel seems to insist on using the CR's as row delimiters, even if I set the text qualifier to double quote. I was sort of hoping that Excel would understand that those line breaks are part of the value - they are embedded in double quotes which should qualify them as part of the value. So my Excel sheet has 5 rows, which is not what I want. I also tried this Applescript to no avail: tell application "Microsoft Excel" activate open text file filename ¬ "Users:maximiliantyrtania:Desktop:linebreaks" data type delimited ¬ text qualifier text qualifier double quote ¬ field info {{1, text format}} ¬ origin Macintosh with tab end tell If I could tell Excel to use a row delimiter other than CR (or LF), well, I'd be a happy camper, but excel seems to allow the change of the field delimiter only, not the row delimiter. Any pointers? Thanks, Max Excel's open

  • VPN trace route

    - by Jake
I am inside an Active Directory (AD) domain and trying to trace route to another AD domain at a remote site, but supposedly connected by VPN in between. the local domain can be accessed at 192.168.3.x and the remote location 192.168.2.x. When I do a tracert, I am suprised to see that the results did not show the intermediate ISP nodes. If I used the public IP of the remote location, then a normal tracert going through every intermediate node would show. 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.3.1 2 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.3.254 3 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms 212.31.2xx.xx 4 197 ms 201 ms 196 ms 62.6.1.2xx 5 201 ms 201 ms 210 ms vacc27.norwich.vpn-acc.bt.net [62.6.192.87] 6 209 ms 209 ms 209 ms 81.146.xxx.xx 7 209 ms 209 ms 209 ms COMPANYDOMAIN [192.168.2.6] Can someone explain how does this VPN tunnelling works? Does this mean VPN is technically faster than without?

  • Excel data into PowerPoint slides

    - by nqw1
I have already found some helpful sites but I'm still unable to do what I want. My Excel file contains few columns and multiple rows. All the data from one row would be in one slide but data from different cells in that one row should go to a specific elements in PP slide. At first, is it possible to export data from an Excel cell into a specific text box in PP? For example, I would like to have all data from the first column of each row go to a Text box 1. Let's say I have 100 rows so I would have 100 slides and each slide would have Text bow 1 with correct data. Text box of slide 66 would have data from the first column of row 66. Then all data from the second column of each row would go to a text bow 2 and so on. I tried to do some macros with bad success. I also tried to use Word outlines and export them into PP (New slide - Slides from Outline) but there seems to be a bug since I got 250 pages of gibberish. I had only two paragraphs and both had one word. First paragraph used Heading 1 style and second paragraph used Normal style. Sites what I have found, use VB and/or some other programming language to create slides from Excel sheets. I have tried to add those VB codes into my macros but none of them hasn't worked so far. Probably I just don't know how to use them correctly :) Here's some helpful sites: VBA: Create PowerPoint Slide for Each Row in Excel Workbook Creating a Presentation Report Based on Data Question in Stackoverflow I use Office 2011 on Mac. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Fill down in Excel, but based on multiple values

    - by Jenn D.
I have spreadsheets (not created by me) that have blank entries in one column where they should really have data. I want to take every empty cell and fill it with the nearest value above it. I'm looking for as little manual intervention as possible, because I'll have to do it repeatedly. I thought some previous version of Excel, or maybe another spreadsheet from the distant past, would do this by default -- that is, if you selected the column with foo and bar, and chose the equivalent of "fill down", you would get what's in the WANT column. What I actually get in Excel is the GET column. HAVE: WANT: GET: foo 1 foo 1 foo 1 2 foo 2 foo 2 bar 1 bar 1 foo 1 2 bar 2 foo 2 3 bar 3 foo 3 I'm worried that this might need a macro to be done properly. I used to be a whiz with Excel macros, and then suddenly they were all in VB. My fallback position will be to dump the whole thing to CSV and write a Python script, but if there's any way to do it in Excel that would be much preferable. Even if it involves a couple of different manual steps, that's fine; just not one step per group of lines. That is, a process of "copy the column, do X to it, cut and paste it back" would work, but "do X for each occurrence of foo or bar" won't. The files are too big for that. Any thoughts are appreciated!

  • Assembling Word Doc using Data from Excel- MS Office 2010

    - by Sascha
I have a questionnaire that users complete. It is in Excel. After users complete the questionnaire I would like to be able to generate a Word document that contains their answers. For example "The answer to your question was [answer from Excel Questionnaire cell A49 ]" I have seen that this is possible with Sharepoint. However, I don't have Sharepoint. I am working on MS Office 2010. I also have visual Studio Express 2010. What is the best way to achieve the above, pretty please? Thanks.

  • perform command substitution in MS-DOS

    - by wiggin200
I wonder how you can make in MS-DOS a command substitution Command substitution is a very powerful concept of the UNIX shell. It is used to insert the output of one command into a second command. E.g. with an assignment: $ today=$(date) # starts the "date" command, captures its output $ echo "$today" Mon Jul 26 13:16:02 MEST 2004 This can also be used with other commands besides assignments: $ echo "Today is $(date +%A), it's $(date +%H:%M)" Today is Monday, it's 13:21 This calls the date command two times, the first time to print the week-day, the second time for the current time. I need to know to do that in MS-DOS, (I already know that there is a way to perform something like that using as part of the for command, but this way is much more obfuscated and convoluted

  • Programatically insert a Word document into an existing document (Word 2007)

    - by cjb
I have a Word 2007 document that I want to insert an exsiting Word document into - while preserving the header/footer, graphics, borders etc of both documents. I'm doing this using the Word API in C#. It sounds pretty simple, I mean surely you just use the "InsertFile" method... except that in Word 2007 the "insert file" functionality now is actually "insert text from file" and it does just that - leaving out the page border, graphics and footer etc. OK then, I'll use copy and paste instead, like so... _Document sourceDocument = wordApplication.Documents.Open(insert the 8 million by ref parameters Word requries) sourceDocument.Activate(); // This is the document I am copying from wordApplication.Selection.WholeStory(); wordApplication.Selection.Copy(); targetDocument.Activate(); // This is the document I am pasting into wordApplication.Selection.InsertBreak(wdSectionBreakNextPage); Selection.PasteAndFormat(wdFormatOriginalFormatting); wordApplication.Selection.InsertBreak(wdSectionBreakNextPage); which does what you would expect, takes the source document, selects everything, copies it then pastes it into the target document. Because I've added a section break before doing the paste it also preserves the borders, header/footer of both documents. However - now this is where I have the problem. The paste only includes the borders, header etc if I paste at the end of the target document. If I paste it in the middle - despite there being a preceding section break, then only the text gets pasted and the header and borders etc are lost. Can anyone help before I buy a grenade and a one way ticket to Redmond...

  • SharePoint 2007 and SiteMinder

    - by pborovik
Here is a question regarding some details how SiteMinder secures access to the SharePoint 2007. I've read a bunch of materials regarding this and have some picture for SharePoint 2010 FBA claims-based + SiteMinder security (can be wrong here, of course): SiteMinder is registered as a trusted identity provider for the SharePoint; It means (to my mind) that SharePoint has no need to go into all those user directories like AD, RDBMS or whatever to create a record for user being granted access to SharePoint - instead it consumes a claims-based id supplied by SiteMinder SiteMinder checks all requests to SharePoint resources and starts login sequence via SiteMinder if does not find required headers in the request (SMSESSION, etc.) SiteMinder creates a GenericIdentity with the user login name if headers are OK, so SharePoint recognizes the user as authenticated But in the case of SharePoint 2007 with FBA + SiteMinder, I cannot find an answer for questions like: Does SharePoint need to go to all those user directories like AD to know something about users (as SiteMinder is not in charge of providing user info like claims-based ids)? So, SharePoint admin should configure SharePoint FBA to talk to these sources? Let's say I'm talking to a Web Service of SharePoint protected by SiteMinder. Shall I make a Authentication.asmx-Login call to create a authentication ticket or this schema is somehow changed by the SiteMinder? If such call is needed, do I also need a SiteMinder authentication sequence? What prevents me from rewriting request headers (say, manually in Fiddler) before posting request to the SharePoint protected by SiteMinder to override its defence? Pity, but I do not have access to deployed SiteMinder + SharePoint, so need to investigate some question blindly. Thanks.

  • Can I export a SharePoint list to an Excel file subdivided into separate worksheets?

    - by ccornet
We have a SharePoint 2007 deployment which will have a substantially large document library. My client wants the ability to export this library to an Excel spreadsheet, but specifically wants the ability to divide the spreadsheet into several worksheets based on a specific field. Is this possible to accomplish in WSS 3.0, through the object model or otherwise? There is a out-of-the-box Export to Spreadsheet, but it does not appear to support automated subdivision of the list items into separate worksheets. I do not know if Excel Services that come with MOSS are capable of it, but we do not have MOSS so we cannot consider it an option for now.

  • How to loop in excel without VBA or macros?

    - by Jeff
Is there a better way for me to write this formula? Did some googling on "excel loops," but no luck. I don't have VBA or macros installed (it's not an option to install them, unfortunately). =IF('testsheet'!$C$1 <= 99,'testsheet'!$A$1,"") & IF('testsheet'!$C$2 <= 99, 'testsheet'!$A$2,"") & IF('testsheet'!$C$3 <= 99, 'testsheet'!$A$3,"") & ... and so on through !$C$40, !$A$40 ... As it is, I'll have to repeat the above code 40 times in each cell and I have over 200 cells which need the code. sniff I'm pretty good with PHP/SQL, but just learning Excel.

  • Creating and Saving an Excel File

    - by Kris
I have the following code that creates a new Excel file in my C# code behind. When I attempt to save the file I would like the user to select the location of the save. In Method #1, I can save the file my using the workbook SaveCopyAs without prompting the user for a location. This saves one file to the C:\Temp directory. Method #2 will save the file in my Users\Documents folder, then prompt the user to select the location and save a second copy. How can I eliminate the first copy from saving in the Users\Documents folder?
