  • Scriptable testing/debugging HTTP/HTTPS cookies and redirects

    I need to setup some automated testing of HTTP requests, to check cookies are doing the right thing, with (manual) debugging when there is a problem. So far I've been muddling along with Firebug, but it's quite a bit of effort using that, and I would prefer some form of scriptable tool, both to make it easier for me and to allow an automated regression test. Any recommendations?

  • Hiding a button on pushed view and showing it when back to list view

    When I load my list view it has several blog posts and a refresh button on the top left. If I tap on a list item a view is pushed with the contents of that specific post. When this view is pushed in, the refresh button is hidden. But when I tap 'Back' to the parent list view, I'd like the refresh button to show (un-hide) - but it remains hidden. Any idea how to make this work?     I've never written any tests in my life, but I'd like to start writing tests for my Django projects. I've read some articles about tests and decided to try to write some tests for an extremely simple Django app or a start. The app has two views (a list view, and a detail view) and a model with four fields: class News(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=250) content = models.TextField() pub_date = models.DateTimeField(default=datetime.datetime.now) slug = models.SlugField(unique=True) I would like to show you my tests.py file and ask: Does it make sense?   • Rails functional testing without migrations

    The name pretty much says it all. Does anyone know how to accomplish functional testing when you are not using migrations in Rails? I'd be open to any advice or third party libraries (if there are any). I thought of creating my own plugin to address this but it seems like a pretty big task and would rather not do this unless necessary. Thanks in advance.

    I need to configure a SMTP server for testing my website which sends emails (for registration confirmation etc). I dont actually want the email to be sent, I just want to make sure that my code is correct. So I want to be able to check that the email is placed in a queue folder for example. Can anybody recommend a SMTP server which is easy to configure?

  • ASP.NET MVC Patterns

    Hello, I am fairly new to MVC, but after playing with it (MVC 3/Razor), I am hooked. I have a few questions: 1) What is the best, or most widely used pattern to develop MVC apps in? Repository, DDD, UOW? 2) I am using the Entity Framework 4, so could some please explain to me or point me to a good source that will explain the Repository Pattern w/EF4? Doesn't EF4 take place as the business layer and the data access layer? Does the Repository Pattern even provide a benefit? 3) Also, one last question, could someone explain the whole relationship between the Controller, the Model and the View? I get the basics, but maybe a little more in depth of the correct way to use it. View Models - Say I have a view that displays customer info, and one that edits it, should I have a view model and an edit model, or can the be passed around? 4) Examples??   • maven and unit testing - combining maven surefire plugin AND testNG eclipse plugin

    Hey, could you please share your way of unit testing in eclipse ? Are you using surefire plugin, m2eclipse & maven, or only testNG eclipse plugin ? Do you combine these alternatives ? I'm using testNG + maven surefire-plugin and I had been using the testNG eclipse plugin a year ago so that I could see the results in testNG view. Then I started using Maven, but when I do "maven test phase" using m2eclipse, there is only console output and surefire reports that I can check in browser and to choose what test suite, test, or test method can be set up only via testng.xml. On the other hand, if you use only surefire plugin and you have some specific settings regarding classpath etc., that you rely on, then running tests via testNG eclipse plugin doesn't have to be compatible with your code. Using surefire plugin, the classpath is different - target/test-classes and target/classes - than using testNG plugin, that is using the project classpath. How do you go about what I was just talking about? Is it possible to synchronize "maven test" using m2eclipse and surefire plugin WITH testNG eclipse plugin and view ? EDITED: I'm also wondering, why the Maven project ("Java build path") output folder is target/classes for src/main and src/test whereas surefire plugin makes two locations target/test-classes and target/classes Thank you very much for your your opinions.

  • Flex unit testing with ANT vs Flash Builder 4

    I have just tried setup unit testing in Flash Builder 4, and it working nicely. A setup of a parallel test source structure and using Flash Builder 4:s new TestCase and new TestSuite I was up and running with some testcases within minutes. But now I want to compile them from a ant flex task, the Flash Builder generates FlexUnitApplication.mxml and FlexUnitCompilerApplication.mxml. Is there a nice way to build the unit tests with ant using these? I cant find any sample where this is done.

  • Cocoa - calling a VIEW method from the CONTROLLER

    Hello everyone, Got a little problem i asked about it before but maybe i didnt ask properly. I have a cocoa application, which amongst other things, must do the following task: - load some images from the disk, store them in an array and display them in a custom view. In the Interface Builder i have a CustomView and an OBJECT that points to TexturesController.h The custom view is a custom class, TextureBrowser. Below is the code for the controller and view: TexturesController #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @class TextureBrowser; @interface TexturesController : NSObject { IBOutlet NSTextField *logWindow; IBOutlet TextureBrowser *textureView; NSMutableArray *textureList; } @property textureView; -(IBAction)loadTextures:(id)sender; -(IBAction)showTexturesInfo:(id)sender; @end TextureBrowser @interface TextureBrowser : NSView { NSMutableArray *textures; } @property NSMutableArray *textures; -(void)loadTextureList:(NSMutableArray *)source; @end These are just the headers. Now , what i need to do is: when loadTextures from the TexturesController is called, after i load the images i want to send this data to the view (TextureBrowser), for example, store it in the NSMutableArray *textures. I tried using the -(void)loadTextureList:(NSMutableArray*)source method from the view, but in the TextureController.m i get a warning : No -loadTextureList method found This is how i call the method : [textureView loadTextureList: textureList]; And even if i run it with the warning left there, the array in the view class doesnt get initialised. Maybe im missing something...maybe someone can give a simple example of what i need to do and how to do it (code). Thanks in advance.

    Assume I have abstract base model class called MoneySource. And two realizations BankCard and CellularAccount. In MoneysSourceListViewController I want to display a list of them, but with ListItemView different for each MoneySource subclass. What if I define a category on MoneySource @interface MoneySource (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass; @end And then override it for each concrete sublcass of MoneySource, returning suitable view class. @implementation CellularAccount (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass { return [BankCardListView class]; } @end @implementation BankCard (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass { return [CellularAccountListView class]; } @end so I can ask model object about its view, not violating MVC principles, and avoiding class introspection or if constructions.   • Keep icons for shortcuts in thumbnail view?

    I want to keep icons for shortcuts in thumbnail view. eg: my pics folder is in thumbnail, but I want to easily see my familiar icons for shortcuts to various outside folders I drag the pics into, amongst the hundreds of pics and subfolders within my pics (which display the same as shortcuts at a glance) I had it like this on my last machine but I can't remember what I had to do. Reg tweak for filetype I think. (Using XPpro) Any clues? Thanks
