    I'm implementing paging on an mvc view, and I want to call a method in the controller from the view view: >a href=">%= Url.Action("Search", new { page = NextPage(Request["exactPage"])).ToString()}) %" controller: public string NextPage(string currentPage) { return (int.Parse(currentPage) + 1).ToString(); } How can I call the NextPage method from the view? thanks!

    Let us say I have a url of subdomain.domain.com. Is there a way in ASP.NET MVC to have a url of say otherdomain.com/gotothesubdomain that takes you to subdomain.domain.com? I know that a simple redirect could do it, but I want the url to stay as otherdomain.com/gotothesubdomain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks!

  • Checking for nulls in ASP.NET MVC Controllers

    Another opinion question: What is the proper (in your opinion) to check for nulls in an MVC controller. For instance, if you have an edit controller that fetches a record from the db based on an id, what do you do if that record is not found? I found this article, but I'm not sure I like that method. Do you just check for it with an if statement and redirect to a 404 page? What solution do you use?

  • ASP.NET MVC image upload store location (db vs filesystem)

    I am writing web application using ASP.NET MVC + NHibernate + Postres stack. I wonder if images uploaded should be stored in database as binary blobs or on filesystem (and reference only in db). One advantage of db storage I can think of is easy backup/recovery of all data without reverting to filesystem copy tools. On the other hand I suspect that filesystem access may be faster (but is it especially when dealing with many concurrent requests?) What are your suggestions?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 2 Route Request Not Working

    Here's the error: The incoming request does not match any route. Basically I upgraded from Preview 1 to Preview 2 and got rid of a load of redundant stuff in relation to areas (as described by Phil Haack). It didn't work so I created a brand new project to check out how its dealt with in Preview 2. The file Default.aspx no longer exists which contains the following: public void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { // Change the current path so that the Routing handler can correctly interpret // the request, then restore the original path so that the OutputCache module // can correctly process the response (if caching is enabled). string originalPath = Request.Path; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(Request.ApplicationPath, false); IHttpHandler httpHandler = new MvcHttpHandler(); httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } The error I received points to the line httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); yet in newer projects none of this even exists. To test it, I quickly deleted Default.aspx but then absolutely nothing worked, I didn't even receive any errors. Routes.cs using System.Web.Mvc; namespace Intranet.Areas.Accounts { public class Routes : AreaRegistration { public override string AreaName { get { return "Accounts"; } } public override void RegisterArea(AreaRegistrationContext context) { context.MapRoute("Accounts_Default", "Accounts/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" }); } } } Check the latest docs for more info on this part.     I'm using ASp.Net MVC and EF 4.3.1. Using POCO t4 template I'm able to create the POCO classes for my model but not validation. At the moment I'm using Partial Classes with MetaData for adding the annotation (leaving intact the POCO auto generated). My question: Could you point me out a tutorial, or show me an example of code or a link to a T4 template the also include automatic VALIDATION for my POCO? THanks

    Hello! I am an MVC newbie. I'm trying to get my URLs to look like this: /Corporate/Users/Edit/1 /Corporate/Stores/Edit/17 /Corporate/Contacts/Edit/17 /Store/Contacts/Create /Store/Products/Edit/29 Pretty much like plain-vanilla urls, except with a user type at the front. I'm running into a lot of problems with duplicate controller names, etc. Is there a simple way to do this? I looked briefly at Areas, but this seemed way to complicated.

  • Controller name convention in ASP.NET MVC

    Is there a way to change the naming convention for controllers in ASP.NET MVC? What I want is to name my controllers InicioControlador instead of InicioController, or better yet, use a prefix instead of a suffix, and have ControladorInicio as my controller name. From what I have read so far, I think I have to implement my own Controller Factory. I would be very grateful if any of you could point me in the right direction.
