  • Macports irssi & perl5 installation issues

    - by Dmitri DB
    Long time reader, first time poster. Big, appreciative thanks for everyone's collective questioning and answering here and at stackoverflow, it's helped me quite a lot over the time I've been learning answers through these sites! Apologies in advance if I didn't search hard enough on posts already up on this site to find out what I could do about this issue, but I thought I'd just reach out for the sake of trying at least once. I've experienced this issue while starting up my macports-installed version of irssi: 13:25 -!- Irssi: Error in script dispatch: 13:25 Can't locate lib.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.4/darwin-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.4 /opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.4/darwin-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.4 /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.12.4/darwin-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.12.4 /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3/darwin-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3 /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl /opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at (eval 18) line 1. 13:25 BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (eval 18) line 1. 13:25 Huh, strange. I'm not really a perl user beyond enjoying it for massive directory-recursive find/replace operations within text files, so I haven't much of an idea what the permissions here are supposed to look like, and I'm not really sure how to go about determining how macports has gone and installed perl this way when it's otherwise worked without failure for years now. Does anyone have any recommendations for the sanest path towards rectifying this issue? Also, is there any interesting reason as to why the macports default for the perl5 port installs 5.12.4, and not 5.16.0, which has to be explicitly installed via the perl5.16 port? Thanks again!

  • Making lighttpd redirect from www.exampe.com to www.example.com/cgi-bin/index.pl

    - by jarmund
    What the title says.. www.example.com is defined in lighttpd.conf as a virtual host: $HTTP["host"] =~ "(^|\.)example.com$" { server.document-root = "/usr/www/example.com/http" accesslog.filename = "/var/log/www/example.com/access.log" $HTTP["url"] =~ ".pl$" { cgi.assign = (".pl" => "/usr/bin/perl" ) } } However, instead of going by the files listed in index-file.names (the usual index.html, default.html, etc), i want all requests to the root of the virtual host to be forwarded to /cgi-bin/index.pl. What's the easiest/best way of doing this? This need is a special case, and will only apply to this virtualhost. Is it possible to have that particular virtualhost send a redirect in the header?

  • What is the simplest, open-source webmail frontend available?

    - by josePhoenix
    I am working on a project to create a few extremely stripped down interfaces for common Web/Internet tasks in order to make computers accessible to my visually impaired grandmother. Currently she uses Mac OS X Mail.app, but I had the idea that I could re-skin a webmail interface running on my own server to make it easier for her to use. The ideal webmail interface to use as a starting point would be without frames or AJAX and written in Python, Perl, or PHP5+, though any setup could work as long as the template and stylesheet files were separate from the application itself. This frontend must also connect to a remote IMAP server, since her email account is with her ISP and not on my server. Can anyone recommend a bare-bones, no-nonsense webmail interface that would work for this?

  • Installing Bugzilla on Ubuntu 9.04 and Plesk

    - by makeflo
    Hey guys. I'm trying to install the latest Bugzilla version on my ubuntu server. (Want to use a subdomain like bugs.domain.com) I already installed all necessary perl modules and check_modules.pl doesn't show any errors. But when I'm running the testserver.pl script I get the following: TEST-OK Webserver is running under group id in $webservergroup TEST-FAILED Fetch of images/padlock.png failed I'm also not able to visit ANY file within the bugzilla folder from the browser. I'm always getting a 404 error. The bugzilla folder and all containing files are set to apache as the owner. I tried to enter the apache configuration form the installation guide in the http.include file of the domain and in the vhosts.conf file of the subdomain as well. I don't know what to do... Playing with plesks' suexecgroup doesn't bring any solution... I hope you can help me! Thanks in advance!

  • Are there ways to write php/python code to run as hooks in the Apache Request Processing pipeline?

    - by SB
    Does anybody know of any modules that provide the functionality to write python or PHP code to run as hooks in the Apache request processing pipeline? For instance, mod_perl lets me write PerlModules, which can contain handlers for the header parsing phase, content delivery, and even filters. I would like to do something similar in other scripting languages. I could write it in C, but the goal is to deploy a module that would work across a number of systems. If I deliver it as binary in C, then it would require 64/32-bit versions and some other issues. With perl, I can just require certain modules installed and mod_perl2.

  • grep with after-context that does not contain a keyword

    - by ukasz
    I want to grep through logs, and gather a certain exception stacktrace but I want to only see those that do not contain certain keywords in --after-context. I do not know in which line in after-context the keyword is. Simple example - given this shell code: grep -A 2 A <<EOF A B C R A Z Z X EOF the output is: A B C -- A Z Z I'd like the output to be: A Z Z I want to exclude any match that has 'B' in after-context How do I do this? Using grep is not a requirement, though I only have access to coreutils and perl.

  • Apache: set aside specific number of servers for a single "high priority" script

    - by Disco
    I have a bunch of scripts, but some of them are higher priority than others: /var/www/normal-priority/script1.pl /var/www/normal-priority/script2.pl /var/www/normal-priority/script3.pl and /var/www/high-priority/script1.pl /var/www/high-priority/script2.pl /var/www/high-priority/script3.pl All running under mod-perl. They reside in separate directories. From time to time, the normal-priority scripts get very busy, and the httpd servers "swamp out" the less frequently called high priority ones. Is it possible to set aside n httpd servers so that they only listen for the "high priority" scripts?

  • Create a term-document matrix from files

    - by Joe
    I have a set of files from example001.txt to example100.txt. Each file contains a list of keywords from a superset (the superset is available if we want it). So example001.txt might contain apple banana ... otherfruit I'd like to be able to process these files and produce something akin to a matrix so there is the list of examples* on the top row, the fruit down the side, and a '1' in a column if the fruit is in the file. An example might be... x example1 example2 example3 Apple 1 1 0 Babana 0 1 0 Coconut 0 1 1 Any idea how I might build some sort of command-line magic to put this together? I'm on OSX and happy with perl or python...

  • Windows, Apache and MSSQL Authentication

    - by user1114330
    I have a create database script written in perl. I remember it working just fine another machine. A couple years later using a Vista machine I am trying to use it again and it keeps failing. The main difference is that now I am using Apache instead of IIS. In the script the IUSR account is granted permissions as it needs to write to the database as a part of another program. IIS has been uninstalled on this machine but the IUSR account still exists. The NT AUTHORITY\IUSR is also seen in the logins drop down in MSSQL(2012). The machine is running Vista Home Edition. However when running the script I get errors that say that NT AUTHORITY\IUSR cannot be found. I tried also with COMPUTERNAME\IUSR just for the heck of it and of course it was not found. I also tried with IUSR alone and for some reason the user isn't being "found"? Any ideas?

  • Apache with mod_perl eating memory when idle

    - by syneticon-dj
    An Apache webserver running a mod_perl application is exposing abnormal memory usage - after the "day load" ceases, the system's memory is being exhausted by the Apache processes and oom_killer is being invoked. As the load returns the following morning, the memory usage normalizes - probably because Apache workers get recycled periodically if a sufficient number of hits is generated: This is the graph for apache hits per second to correlate: The remaining 2 hits per second throughout the night are induced by HAProxy checks - it runs HEAD http://mydomain.example.com/running HTTP/1.0 requests against the server every half a second with "running" being a static file (i.e. not invoking any perl code). It also seems that disabling these checks remedies the memory usage problem, but obviously cannot be a solution. All of 3 similarly configured servers (behind HAProxy) expose this behavior. The running OS is Ubuntu 10.10, Apache version 2.2.16. This seems to be a memory leak but I have no idea how to start debugging it - any hints?

  • How can 2 or more instances of the same program to communicate in local network?

    - by user1981437
    I want to create program which will be in use for few computers connected in local network. Basically the program aim is to keep track of all tables in a bar ( lets say ), which are reserved. When some user book a table as reserved the program should broadcast the table number to all other Pc's and mark the table as reserved. Since all computers use the same program, how is possible to create communication between all of them ? Should i use sockets to achieve this? If it matters, all of the computers have installed Linux OS,and the app will be developed in ruby,perl or php. Thank you.

  • Make a Perl-style regex interpreter behave like a basic or extended regex interpreter

    - by Barry Brown
    I am writing a tool to help students learn regular expressions. I will probably be writing it in Java. The idea is this: the student types in a regular expression and the tool shows which parts of a text will get matched by the regex. Simple enough. But I want to support several different regex "flavors" such as: Basic regular expressions (think: grep) Extended regular expressions (think: egrep) A subset of Perl regular expressions, including the character classes \w, \s, etc. Sed-style regular expressions Java has the java.util.Regex class, but it supports only Perl-style regular expressions, which is a superset of the basic and extended REs. What I think I need is a way to take any given regular expression and escape the meta-characters that aren't part of a given flavor. Then I could give it to the Regex object and it would behave as if it was written for the selected RE interpreter. For example, given the following regex: ^\w+[0-9]{5}-(\d{4})?$ As a basic regular expression, it would be interpreted as: ^\\w\+[0-9]\{5\}-\(\\d\{4\}\)\?$ As an extended regular expression, it would be: ^\\w+[0-9]{5}-(\\d{4})?$ And as a Perl-style regex, it would be the same as the original expression. Is there a "regular expression for regular expressions" than I could run through a regex search-and-replace to quote the non-meta characters? What else could I do? Are there alternative Java classes I could use?

  • Simulating aspects of static-typing in a duck-typed language

    - by Mike
    In my current job I'm building a suite of Perl scripts that depend heavily on objects. (using Perl's bless() on a Hash to get as close to OO as possible) Now, for lack of a better way of putting this, most programmers at my company aren't very smart. Worse, they don't like reading documentation and seem to have a problem understanding other people's code. Cowboy coding is the game here. Whenever they encounter a problem and try to fix it, they come up with a horrendous solution that actually solves nothing and usually makes it worse. This results in me, frankly, not trusting them with code written in duck typed language. As an example, I see too many problems with them not getting an explicit error for misusing objects. For instance, if type A has member foo, and they do something like, instance->goo, they aren't going to see the problem immediately. It will return a null/undefined value, and they will probably waste an hour finding the cause. Then end up changing something else because they didn't properly identify the original problem. So I'm brainstorming for a way to keep my scripting language (its rapid development is an advantage) but give an explicit error message when an an object isn't used properly. I realize that since there isn't a compile stage or static typing, the error will have to be at run time. I'm fine with this, so long as the user gets a very explicit notice saying "this object doesn't have X" As part of my solution, I don't want it to be required that they check if a method/variable exists before trying to use it. Even though my work is in Perl, I think this can be language agnostic.

  • API Wrapper Architecture Best Practice

    - by Adam Taylor
    Hi, So I'm writing a Perl wrapper module around a REST webservice and I'm hoping to have some advice on how best to architect the module. I've been looking at a couple of different Perl modules for inspiration. Flickr::Simple2 - so this is basically one big file with methods wrapping around the different methods in the Flickr API, e.g. getPhotos() etc. Flickr::API - this is a sub-class of another module (LWP) for making HTTP requests. So basically it just allows you to make calls through the module, using LWP, that go to the correct API method/URL without defining any wrapper methods itself. (That's explained pretty poorly - but basically it has a method that takes an argument (a API method name) and constructs the correct API call). e.g request() / response(). An alternative design would be like the first described, but less monolithic, with separate classes for separate "areas" of the API. I'd like to follow modern/best practice Perl methods so I'm using Dist::Zilla to build the module and Moose for the OO stuff but I'd appreciate some input on how to actually design/architect my wrapper. Guides/tutorials or pointers to other well designed modules would be appreciated. Cheers

  • Passing arguments to commandline with directories having spaces

    - by superstar
    Hi guys, I am making a system call from perl for ContentCheck.pl and passing parameters with directories (having spaces). So I pass them in quotes, but they are not being picked up in the ContentCheck.pl file Random.pm my $call = "$perlExe $contentcheck -t $target_path -b $base_path -o $output_path -s $size_threshold"; print "\ncall: ".$call."\n"; system($call); Contentcheck.pl use vars qw($opt_t $opt_b $opt_o $opt_n $opt_s $opt_h); # initialize getopts('t:b:o:n:s:h') or do{ print "*** Error: Invalid command line option. Use option -h for help.\a\n"; exit 1}; if ($opt_h) {print $UsagePage; exit; } my $tar; if ($opt_t) {$tar=$opt_t; print "\ntarget ".$tar."\n";} else { print " in target"; print "*** Error: Invalid command line option. Use option -h for help.\a\n"; exit 1;} my $base; if ($opt_b) {$base=$opt_b;} else { print "\nin base\n"; print "*** Error: Invalid command line option. Use option -h for help.\a\n"; exit 1;} This is the output in the commandline call: D:\tools\PacketCreationTool/bin/perl/winx64/bin/perl.exe D:/tools/PacketCr eationTool/scripts/ContentCheck.pl -t "C:/Documents and Settings/pkkonath/Deskto p/saved/myMockName.TGZ" -b "input file/myMockName.TGZ" -o myMockName.validate -s 10 target C:/Documents in base *** Error: Invalid command line option. Use option -h for help. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks.

  • accessing a value of a nested hash

    - by st
    Hello! I am new to perl and I have a problem that's very simple but I cannot find the answer when consulting my perl book. When printing the result of Dumper($request); I get the following result: $VAR1 = bless( { '_protocol' => 'HTTP/1.1', '_content' => '', '_uri' => bless( do{\(my $o = 'http://myawesomeserver.org:8081/counter/')}, 'URI::http' ), '_headers' => bless( { 'user-agent' => 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/20080528 Epiphany/2.22 Firefox/3.0', 'connection' => 'keep-alive', 'cache-control' => 'max-age=0', 'keep-alive' => '300', 'accept' => 'text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8', 'accept-language' => 'en-us,en;q=0.5', 'accept-encoding' => 'gzip,deflate', 'host' => 'localhost:8081', 'accept-charset' => 'ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7' }, 'HTTP::Headers' ), '_method' => 'GET', '_handle' => bless( \*Symbol::GEN0, 'FileHandle' ) }, 'HTTP::Server::Simple::Dispatched::Request' ); How can I access the values of '_method' ('GET') or of 'host' ('localhost:8081'). I know that's an easy question, but perl is somewhat cryptic at the beginning. Thank you, St.

  • DBD::Oracle and utf8 issue

    - by goe
    Hi All, I have a problem where my perl code using the latest DBD::Oracle on perl v5.8.8 throws an exception on me when I try to insert characters like 'ñ'. Exception: DBD::Oracle::db do failed: ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtPrepare) My $ENV{NLS_LANG} is set to 'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8' These are the DB params based on "SELECT * from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS" 1 NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN 2 NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA 3 NLS_CURRENCY $ 4 NLS_ISO_CURRENCY AMERICA 5 NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS ., 6 NLS_CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8 7 NLS_CALENDAR GREGORIAN 8 NLS_DATE_FORMAT DD-MON-RR 9 NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE AMERICAN 10 NLS_SORT BINARY 11 NLS_TIME_FORMAT HH.MI.SSXFF AM 12 NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM 13 NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR 14 NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR 15 NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY $ 16 NLS_COMP BINARY 17 NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS BYTE These are perl params based on "$db-ora_nls_parameters()" $VAR1 = { 'NLS_LANGUAGE' => 'AMERICAN', 'NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT' => 'HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR', 'NLS_SORT' => 'BINARY', 'NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS' => '.,', 'NLS_TIME_FORMAT' => 'HH.MI.SSXFF AM', 'NLS_ISO_CURRENCY' => 'AMERICA', 'NLS_COMP' => 'BINARY', 'NLS_CALENDAR' => 'GREGORIAN', 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT' => 'DD-MON-RR', 'NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE' => 'AMERICAN', 'NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT' => 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM', 'NLS_TERRITORY' => 'AMERICA', 'NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS' => 'BYTE', 'NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET' => 'AL16UTF16', 'NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY' => '$', 'NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT' => 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR', 'NLS_NCHAR_CONV_EXCP' => 'FALSE', 'NLS_CHARACTERSET' => 'AL32UTF8', 'NLS_CURRENCY' => '$' }; Here are some other strange facts: If I set NLS_LANG to ‘'AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8’ the insert executes fine with ‘ñ’ character. If I leave NLS_LANG as ‘'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8' but use ‘Ñ’ the insert will run fine as well.

  • What is Wordpress doing for content encoding in it's mysql database?

    - by qbxk
    For some convoluted reasons best left behind us, I require direct access the contents of a wordpress database. I'm using mysql 5.0.70-r1 on gentoo with wordpress 2.6, and perl 5.8.8 ftr. So, sometimes we get high-order characters in the blog, we have quite a few authors contributing too, for the most part these characters end up in wp's database in wp_posts.post_content or wp_postmeta.meta_value, Wordpress is displaying these correctly on it's site, but the database stores it using single byte encoding that I can't figure out how to convert to the correct string. Today's example: the blog shows this, and doesn't even seem to escape any chars in the html, Hãhãhães but the database, when viewed via the mysql prompt, has, Hãhãhães So clearly this is some kind of double-byte encoding issue, but I don't know how I can correct it. I need to be able to pull that second string from the database (b/c that's what it gives me) and convert it to the first one, and i need to do so using perl. also, just to help unmuddy any waters, I took these strings and printed out the ascii codes for each character using perl's ord() function. Here is the output of the "wrong" string H = 72 à = 195 £ = 163 h = 104 à = 195 £ = 163 h = 104 à = 195 £ = 163 e = 101 s = 115 This is the correct string, that I need to produce in my script H = 72 ã = 227 h = 104 ã = 227 h = 104 ã = 227 e = 101 s = 115
