• Windows 7: Can not safely remove hard-drive when using shared library function.

  When using Windows 7 libraries for an external hard-drive. There is a problem when I go to safely remove the hard-drive. Windows won't let me because I have the drive assigned to the libraries feature. So the only way I can safely remove the external drive is to remove the library feature. Is there way to keep the library feature on and still safely remove the external hard-drive?

• What driver for M1015 for Solaris 11 Express

  For Solaris 11 Express, what driver is supposed to be used? The M1015 is essentially a LSI 9240-8i From http://www.lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/MegaRAIDSAS9240-8i.aspx The only driver for Solaris is a old 32bit driver? I'd like to Flash it also, but can't seem to figure out which util to use.. The linux one from IBM screams for libraries that aren't included in the libraries section.

• Java SWIFT Library

  I'm looking for a Java library for SWIFT messages. I want to parse SWIFT messages into an object model validate SWIFT messages (including SWIFT network validation rules) build / change SWIFT messages by using an object model Theoretically, I need to support all SWIFT message types. But at the moment I need MT103+, MT199, MT502, MT509, MT515 and MT535. So far I've looked at two libraries AnaSys Message Objects (link text) Datamation SWIFT Message Suite (link text) Both libraries allow to accomplish the tasks mentioned above but in both cases I'm not really happy. AnaSys uses a internal XML representation for all SWIFT messages which you need to know in order to access the fields of a message. And you need to operate on the DOM of the XML representation, there is no way to say "get the contents of field '50K' of the SWIFT message". And the Datamation library seems to have the nicer API but does not find all errors. So does anyone know other SWIFT libraries to use?

• MathML or OMML to PNG w/ .NET?

  Are there any libraries which take MathML (or, even more preferably, OMML) and outputs a .PNG file? I am putting together an export process for .docx files and, as a part of this process, I'd like to extract equations and render them as .PNG files. Word 2007 does this natively when you save a document for the web, but so far, I have not been able to find a way to do this programmatically (if anyone has an answer for that, it would be even better). So the next best thing is to take the OMML and use the Microsoft provided XSL stylesheets and transform them to MathML. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any (working) rendering libraries for either MathML or OMML. If there aren't any pure .NET libraries for this, I'll settle for just about anything that I can call from a commandline to output a .PNG from either MathML or OMML.

• BAD_UID error while exporting key in CryptoAPI

  Hi all, I am writing a test application for Microsoft CryptoAPI. I want to export the secret key of one party using the public key of the second party, and then import that secret key as the second party's secret key (this sets up a shared secret key for communication). • Assembly reference in Silverlight class library and used only in xaml is not packaged in XAP

  I have a 3rd party library (A). That library is referenced in my Silverlight class library (B). That Silverlight class library is referenced in my Silverlight application (C). The 3rd party library is not explicitly referenced in the Silverlight application. It seems that "A" is added to my XAP if "A" is used in any class in "B" because of a chain in dependencies (C - B - A). This is the behavior I would expect and need. If "A" is never explicitly used in a C# class but only defined in Xaml, the assembly is not packaged to the XAP. Maybe "A" includes a control that is only used declaratively and never referenced otherwise. Is this behavior by design? Am I missing a property somewhere that controls this? I would prefer to not explicitly reference the third party library in my Silverlight application. What's to best practice to ensure all necessary assemblies are packaged in the XAP?

  I am impressed by what I have seen of yeroon.net/ggplot2 which is a web interface for Hadley Wickham's R package ggplot2. I want to try it out on my own data. The part that has me very excited is that one can use data stored in one's own Google spreadsheet as the data. One just signs into their Google Account so that yeroon.net/ggplot2 can access the spreadsheet list. I have been hesitant to do it. If I sign in whilst on yeroon.net am I handing over my username and password to a third party? It would not be wise of me to divulge my google password to third parties since Google is fast becoming my repository of everything. How do I know if Jeroon's application is using ClientLogin or OAuth? My understanding is very basic and may be wrong but nevertheless here it is. OAuth would be better since it does not actually pass the password onto the third party application.

• Serverside image processing

  I am designing a web application that does server side image processing in real time. Processing tasks include applying different effects like grayscale, blur, oil paint, pencil sketch etc on images in various formats. I want to build it using java/servlets which I am already familiar with. I found 3 options, 1) Use pure java imaging libraries like java.awt or http://www.jhlabs.com/ip/index.html 2) Use command line tools like Gimp/ImageMagick 3) Use c,c++ image libraries that have java bindings. I don't know which of the above options is good keeping the performance in mind. It looks like option 2) and 3) are good performance wise, but I want to be sure before I rule out 1). I have also heard gimp cannot be run using command line unless gtk or xwindows is already installed on the server. Will there be any such problems with 2) or 3) while running them server side? Also please suggest any good image processing libraries for this purpose.

• Android NDK Question

  The NDK does not contain very many shared libraries for you to access. As a result, I must build many sources myself and link them into my shared library via static/shared libraries. I want to compile libpng as a Static Library. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea how, nor does google instruct you how to do so in their NDK. I'm no expert on the NDK even after reading everything I can find, so I would really appreciate someone who actually knows how this is done. I do have the Android.mk file for libpng, as google's Android OS source contains it. Infact, I got the entire directory on the android OS source for libpng and it's dependent libraries. It was somewhat of a shortcut instead of making one myself. I don't know how to make a particular directory which contains this file, though. Thanks for reading!

  in tomcat\lib there are axis*, axis2* jars. I cannot delete them [sysadmin won't allow to do that]. My web-app invokes web-services. I put Jax-ws jars directly to myapp/web-inf/lib. so inner calls frow a web app servlets use jax-ws libraries. but since "destroy-method" of the bean invokes a web-service, and session is destroyed, then spring makes a service call through tomcat/lib/* = axis2 libraries, and not by using web-inf/lib/jax-ws* How to: a) while not deleting axis2 libs from shared tomcat folder b) make spring use jax-ws libraries to make a web-service call ?

  Hi all, I just installed gd2 using mac ports (sudo install gd2), which installed libraries in the following places: /opt/local/include/gd.h /opt/local/lib/libgd.dylib (link) /opt/local/lib/libgd.la /opt/local/lib/libgd.a So when I create my c++ app I add '#include "gd.h"', which throws: main.cpp:4:16: error: gd.h: No such file or directory If I set gd.h as an absolute path (as above)(not a solution, but was curious), I am thrown: g++ -L/opt/local/include -L/opt/local/lib main.o Heatmap_Map.o Heatmap_Point.o -o heatmap Undefined symbols: "_gdImagePng", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageLine", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageColorAllocate", referenced from: _main in main.o _main in main.o "_gdImageDestroy", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageCreate", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageJpeg", referenced from: _main in main.o ld: symbol(s) not found So, I understand this means that ld can not find the libraries it needs (hence trying to give it hints with the "-L" values). So after giving g++ the -L hints and the absolute path in #include, I can get it to work, but I don't think I have to do this, how can I make g++/ld search int eh right places for the libraries? • Setting image DPI in relation to height/width C#

  Hi, I'm writing an application to send some images to a third party, and the images must be 200x200 DPI. The image is a Bitmap and is sized at 500 width and 250 height. The first time I tested the images with the third party, my resolution was incorrect. I merely used image.SetResolution(200,200) to correctly set it to 200x200. This, however, only changed the resolution tag for the image and did not properly, according to my third party technical contact, adjust the image height and width. Is there a ratio that I can use so that for each X units I increment the resolution, I merely increment the corresponding height or width Y units? I thought that I could just increment resolution without having to increment height or width. Thank you, Aaron.

  Hi, I have to implement Single Sign On in my .NET(3.5) project using Shibboleth. Detailed requirement goes this way: 1) I have developped a web application using .NET (3.5) named "abc.com". 2) There are some third party applications which will be launched from "abc.com" 3) If I have logged in to "abc.com" and now if I launch any of the supported third party applications then it should not ask for login information again. From last few days I have been reading Shibboleth from https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/SHIB2/Home I have also installed Identity provider (IdP) and Service Provide (SP) from https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/SHIB2/Installation Still I am unable to make out how my "abc.com", third party application and Shibboleth will fit into one picture? • Log4cxx sample program and steps to compile

  Hi guys Hoping someone can help out.. I've been scouring the net for a simple how-to to get a good log4cxx program working, with steps on setting up the libraries, dependants, directives, library paths etc etc.. as of yet i've found a lot of valuable but disjointed information.. trying to pull it all together has been a bit of a nightmare, so i'm reaching out and wondering if any kind soul knows of, or could put together a simple how-to, to get a standard win32 console app running with either static or dynamically linked release mode log4cxx.. I have win32 binary releases of the libraries, and thanks to a very cool dude from "Must a blog have a name" I have a win32 project which can build log4cxx.. i just cant bloody use it :) It would be really helpful to me, and probably to others, to be able to refer to something like this and not 20 different pages, with different lists of libraries needed to download and install.. :) Here's hoping Thanks guys J

• Library for polygon operations

  I've recently encountered a need for a library or set of libraries to handle operations on 2D polygons. I need to be able to perform boolean/clipping operations (difference and union) and triangulation. So far the libraries I've found are poly2tri, CGAL, and GPC. Poly2tri looks good for triangulation but I'm still left with boolean operations, and I'm unsure about its maturity. CGAL and GPC are only free if my own project is free. My particular project isn't commercial, so I'm hesitant to pay or request for any licenses. But I may want to use my code for a future commercial project, so I'm hesitant about CGAL's open source licenses and GPC's freeware-only restriction. There doesn't seem to be any polygon clipping libraries with nice BSD-style licenses.

• How to segue modal without losing tab bar controller

  Okay, so I want to be able to have a TabBar Controller with two Tabs (like the template in Xcode), but inside the Second tab, I want to have a button that takes the view to a Third View Controller. I want the Third View Controller to have a back button to the Second Tab, I don't want the Third View to retain the TabBar, but when I go back to the Second Tab I want the TabBar to return. So this is what I actually did, and it doesn't work. I put a button in 2nd view and 3rd view, and I control clicked and dragged to the respective views, and clicked modal. Everything works, except when I go back to the 2nd view I lose the tab bar. • Choosing a plotting library for web/browser application

  Hello, I am looking for a plotting/graphing library (mostly to do line plots) for my application. I have been looking at JavaScript APIs (like Google's) but I found them to be slowing down things at client side (I am plotting a quite large number of points). I also found that with client-side libraries, the performance was quite varied depending on the user's computer. With moving to a server-side library I would cut down on this variance, and would have more control over data flow (my data is in a MySQL database). I have then looked at some PHP-based plotting libraries, but a lot of them seem to be "forgotten" (no new version for years). I have been eying pChart, but it has not had an update in almost two years. First, what would you recommend: server-side or client-side approach? Second, what library would you recommend. Paid libraries are definitely an option, as I don't mind paying for quality software that would cut down on my development time. Thanks,

  I'm developing an ActiveX EXE that exposes an specific class to a third-party software. This third-party software instanciates an object of this class and uses its methods. Strangely, this third-party software destroys its object of my exposed class as soon as it calls an specific method, but I have no idea why this happens. The only clue I have is that this method is the only one that returns a value. All the other ones are simple 'subs' that do not return any value, and when they are called nothing wrong happens. I'm using VB6. Do you guys have any idea of why it's happening?
